ah sparkly new thread.. i spotted this on my friends face book and had to share it:

WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers are given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

  1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
  2. Mostly to clean the house.
  3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

  1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
  2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
  3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?

  1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
  2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

  1. We're related.
  2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

  1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
  2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
  3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

  1. His last name.
  2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
  3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

  1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
  2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
  3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on. Ha ha ha ha!!!

Who's the boss at your house?

  1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
  2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
  3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?

  1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
  2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
  3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's
  4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.
What does your mom do in her spare time?
  1. Mothers don't do spare time.
  2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

  1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
  2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

  1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
  2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did t and not me.
  3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

just thought it was funny!

Hi Daisy

Sorry to hear about your neck
I need a bath - I'm minging
I'll be back over the weekend.........look after yerself!!!!

lackaDAISYcal · 01/05/2008 22:26

I'm off tomorrow for the weekend so I'll catch you next week!

have a good bank holiday everyone

Sputnik · 01/05/2008 22:43

Tonnes to catch up on....
Fairy I hope you are over your shock of yesterday, that must've been awful.

Llkel, sounds like you have the right strategy with the tantrums, ignore, ignore and try to distract. I remember around 2 was the most difficult time for us too, and sounds like Natty is going through the same thing.

Daisy hope you have better luck at the doctors tomorrow.

I'm taking my lot to the docs too tomorrow, as I suspect they have streptococus. DD hasn't eaten much for 3 days and now the baby isn't either. I started this post over an hour ago and got interrupted by DD waking up and screaming for an hour, something is definitly up. Just hope we get it sorted before we're off to the UK next week.

Sputnik · 01/05/2008 22:45

Have a good time Daisy

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 02/05/2008 08:07

Morning all,

I'm still feeling rubbish. DD has a chest infection and I've felt like shit for about as long as she has. I've got ulcers in my mouth, my gums are swollen up where my wisdom teeth are or are coming through and I think my tonsils are swollen (though Im not entirely sure. Basically the hole at the back of my mouth is pretty small! The think is if I call my dr I won't get an appointment for a week, it's not really an emergency and if I say it is they will ask me what's wrong. But I don't want to feel like shit over the weekend like I have for the past two weeks. Am I just run down? is there something I can take?

Oh and DD was up 4 times last night . She may be teething. She's rosy cheeked, got awful nappy rash but no sign of any more teeth

Daisy hope you are feeling a bit better.

Sputnik hope your DC's are ok.

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 02/05/2008 08:17

BTW DKMA you must be knackered with all that! Are you pleased to be riding your horse again? How do you fit all that in?

LittleMissNorty · 02/05/2008 08:23

Morning all

Sorry to hear about all the illnesses

Daisy - get yourself back to a different GP - useless twat.

Sputnik - hope DCs get sorted...poor things

Bumper - just go to the doctors and get some ABs - have an emergency appt if necessary.

Its very odd, I'm at home and DH at work and DD in nursery.....in theory, I could clean this place top to bottom, pack for weekend and still have time to myself. I've already been to "check" on DD once forgetting I haven't got her

Right, if you see me on here at any other time than lunchtime - tell me to piss off and do my housework!

NattyEcoWarriorPrincess · 02/05/2008 10:54

morning all
im sick too :{

Sputnik · 02/05/2008 11:56

I am counting the hours til the doctor opens here! 99% sure they both have strep.
DD has just agreed to lunch though, for the first time in 3 days.

foxythesnowfox · 02/05/2008 13:04

Sorry for all your sicknesses everyone.

Sputnik, I don't know what that is. But it sounds horrid. Hope you are coping ok.

Bumper, get some metatone (a pound cheaper in sainsbos than boots btw). It is fabulous stuff and OK when bf.

It also works miracles on tequila hangovers.

andiem · 02/05/2008 13:25

afternoon all

hugs to everyone who is feeling poorly los and mums

sputnik hope dr sorts out your two

bumper I would take a tonic like foxy suggests but tbh I think this is the time when the sleep deprivation etc really starts to tell a year of tiredness really takes it's toll

ds1 was off school yesterday for polling so we went out for lunch and shopping

I bought ds2 his first pair of shoes so cute but he is falling over so much at the moment he is covered in bruises

lackaDAISYcal · 02/05/2008 13:46

big metatone fans here

my neck is better today, still painful, but I can bear to move and am not growling at the DCs anymore.

I have been trying to get in touch with the finacne department at tmy office about non-payment of holidays last months and so far two e-mails and two phone calls have been unreturned. Fecking useless wankers. I know he is in too, as he'd pparently just "popped out to the bank" the last time I called. I bloody well hope he's not avoiding me!

sorry to hear about all the illnesses, still...we surely must win a prize for the poorliest thread on here

MN has been excrucuiatingly slow to load all morning, but it looks like they have it sorted now.

Have a good weekend all. Am off in a bit and then staying at the PILs on Tuesday and Wednesday (oh the fecking joy ) so if I don't get the chance to log in on Monday, I'll catch up with you all next Thursday.

byee xx

LittleMissNorty · 02/05/2008 13:51

Glad you're feeling a bit better Daisy and have a good w/end.

I'm off to Dorset this afternoon so hope everyone feels better and enjoys their long weekend

andiem · 02/05/2008 14:00

have lovely weekends you two

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 02/05/2008 14:40

Thanks for the advice peeps, I'll have a look in town today.

Hope you all have lovely weekends! Doesn't mean a lot to us as DH is working tomorrow, but my mum is coming up on Sunday.

foxythesnowfox · 02/05/2008 14:44

Yes, DP away here too.

DD2 almost crawled, thankfully she thought better of it!

I'm kicking myself for logging on! I went to Lidl and did the garden this morning, and now I'm sucked in to MN I was doing soooo well.

Right, am logging off now. I know I'll be back at the weekend as I'll be lonely

And hurrah! Looks like Boris Johnson is going to be the next Mayor of London. Fantastic - my decision to relocate to Manchester has become a whole lot easier. What a fucking gobshite.

(Apologies. Just needed to vent).

andiem · 02/05/2008 14:56

foxy I am so depressed about it he will be doing the olympics and everything aaagghhhhh

dh away here too have just spoken to him and he was out for dinner with our friends in aus was a bit pissed

lilQuidditchKel · 02/05/2008 15:23

hi all - bumper sounds like you def should ask for an emergency appt!!

i remember last year we woke up to bright sunshine one bank hol monday so I rushed out to Tesco to get a splash pool for DS only to return home, blow it up as quick as poss, fill it, and have him refuse to go near it. at least there's slim chance of same delusion this year!!

enjoy your weekends everyone. i'll be spending mine attempting to instill a sense of 'wrong' into DS, who this morning was throwing toys again - at DD - grrrrr.

lilQuidditchKel · 02/05/2008 15:23

oooh and Daisy you are in the thick of it aren't you on that other thread?? I had to step away!

lackaDAISYcal · 02/05/2008 15:47

lol lilkel, I'm actually quite enjoying myself. I'm not that passionate about the subject, but I hate it when people argue nonsense, or miss the point, which is what a lot of posters were doing. hey ho

Have spoken to work; very apologetic about the mix up and then he had a whinge at me about the fact I'll be off sick and thet I'm pregnant again......I think this is really taxing the guy who does payroll, who is a bit of a blithering idiot! Just wait till I ask him to transfer the salary sacrifice money back to me from the childcare voucher people!!!!!

anyhoo money will be in on Wednesday, and he'll sort you the payslip next month.

any bank charges I get (cos the bank won't extend my OD facility) I will just send them the bill!!

righ gotta be off. have a good one!

RiaButterflew · 02/05/2008 16:00

Hi all.
Just a brief post to wish you all a happy bank holiday.

We have PC issues at home so I'm at the library and it's SOOOOO slow.

No time to catch up so Hope everyone is OK.

Got to dash - hair appointment and we're going to the Dales for the weekend.

Love to all, I'll be back soon!

foxythesnowfox · 02/05/2008 16:00

Glad you got it sorted Daisy! One less thing to worry about.

Just been reading the MN round-up email. Always makes me LOL.

foxythesnowfox · 02/05/2008 16:01

RIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

WE MISS YOU

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Sputnik · 02/05/2008 18:17

Hi Ria

Foxy, can empathise about the mayor, Rome has just elected an arsehole (not to mention fascist) mayor too. On top of the lovely government they just elected. Ho hum.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 02/05/2008 19:24

Evening all. Been a busy day here. We dropped DH at work and then went to the park where the jamlet had a go on the swings (), the roundabout () and the slide () Then I had a reflexology session and we went to a friend's for lunch (hoping we didn't pick up c.pox off her son, I think we should be OK though as he's had it a week now). And then later we had to go collect DH from work. Phew! That's a lot of action for us. And now the jamlet is in bed and I've just had a slice of cheap cake
