ah sparkly new thread.. i spotted this on my friends face book and had to share it:

WHY GOD MADE MOMS
Answers are given by 2nd grade school children to the following questions:

Why did God make mothers?

  1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
  2. Mostly to clean the house.
  3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?

  1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
  2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
  3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?

  1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
  2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?

  1. We're related.
  2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?

  1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
  2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
  3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?

  1. His last name.
  2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer?
  3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?

  1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
  2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
  3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on. Ha ha ha ha!!!

Who's the boss at your house?

  1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
  2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
  3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?

  1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
  2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
  3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's
  4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.
What does your mom do in her spare time?
  1. Mothers don't do spare time.
  2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?

  1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
  2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?

  1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
  2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did t and not me.
  3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

just thought it was funny!

Daisy just take as much paracetamol as you want (well 4 hourly obviously) and make sure you keep moving your neck. You need to keep the pain at bay but exercise the muscles IYKWIM.

Hope you feel better soon x

Izzybel · 30/04/2008 21:21

I had an epidural in the end and then I was able to sleep. She was back to back.

I bet your 26 hours would have been a lot more intense though, as your waters had broken. Mine wouldn't go and nothing much was happening so didn't really get into established labour until later on 1st June. I was still at same stage the next morning so had to have waters broken and then had epi.

Izzybel · 30/04/2008 21:22

Night Daisy

LittleMissNorty · 30/04/2008 21:27

Not too bad Izzy....I was pretty knackered and even when I went under the knife I was only 2-3cm dilated....and very pissed off......seems like a very long time ago now

Are you doing anything for DDs birthday?

Izzybel · 30/04/2008 21:33

We are planning to have a party at home, although I haven't started organising anything yet . Did you say you were having a party for your DD?

LittleMissNorty · 30/04/2008 21:38

A BBQ (I hope - weather permitting), but only for family probably...

Izzybel · 30/04/2008 21:48

Yes think we will just have a few of the family round aswell. Was chatting to my friend about her DC's birthday today and she's having all and sundry there! Far too stressful and they're only 1 FGS!

Right I'm off to bed! Goodnight

LittleMissNorty · 30/04/2008 21:54

Night Izzy x

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 01/05/2008 06:31

Morning. Thankfully the jamlet graced me with a full night of sleep last night after 3 broken nights. But was still up early, so have managed to read through last nights musings.

Daisy Poor you! Do see a GP or something. And I don't agree that it serves you right for throwing things at DH - it serves you right for having such a large/heavy handbag

Fairy - hope you and DS are both fine and dandy this morning? Fall down the stairs sounds scary, but as others have said they are quite resilient really. Bet you suffered more than he did. And yes, I will take note to take care with stair gates. Not that we need one yet, and even when we do, DH says we won't

I felt really old last night. I was slicing some bread and realised that I had bought the bread knife when I left home to go to uni,19 years ago! But I did get some pleasure from thinking of the value for money that bread knife has given me - it cost me 99p

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 01/05/2008 07:14

Morning all

Jammy, glad you had a good night. We've been up since 5.30 with DD but to be fair since we have started putting DD to bed awake she has gone though about 3/4 of the time.

FF how scary for you. The sense of responsibility is huge and the realisation that one thoughtless mistake could lead to something really serious is very scary (we are having to get out of the habit of leaving plastic bags from the supplements around). We live in a flat though we actually did buy a stair gate but with a view to penning her in somewhere

Daisy for you with your aguement with DH, sounds awful. I hope he is suitably contrite.

Anyone else finding they are becoming a naggy parent already. I'm constantly telling DD "no". She keeps standing at the TV and putting her hands all over it, and she knows when she is doing wrong because she has a guilty look on her face, and when I went to the loo this morning when I came back in to the room and she was standing at the TV she jumped. She also kept kicking me this morning as she was feeding in bed, and just found it funny when I tried to stop her. I feel like a nag already.

HellHathNoFury · 01/05/2008 08:29

Morning all.

I am having a BBQ/party for DS for his birthday. I invited lots of people but so far either people haven't responded or can't come

Fairy sorry to hear about what happened and I am very relieved for you that he is ok - you must have been terribly upset. Once when DS was 6 weeks old his pram tipped over and I was inconsolable (but then so was he)

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 01/05/2008 08:43

Morning Bumper, Fury.

We are going to be away on holiday on the jamlets birthday We'll be coming back the day after, so i think she'll have to wait a day for her presents, rather than lugging them up and down the country. And it's not like she's going to know about it, is she? So she'll have lots of fuss on the day itself, as we'll probably centre the day around her, and then she'll have presents too when we get home. Lucky girl

OK, we ought to go get changed out of our 'jamas. And then oh joy, there is washing, washing up and cleaning to be done

HellHathNoFury · 01/05/2008 08:53

where are you going Jammy?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 01/05/2008 09:06

Not sure yet, but hopefully Yorkshire somewhere.

HellHathNoFury · 01/05/2008 09:19

I was supposed to be going to bath this weekend to meet my friend but she has blown me out, so I might take DS and a picnic to whipsnade or something. I reckon he'd like that.

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 01/05/2008 09:37

That sounds fab fury. My mum is coming up on Sunday. Don't know what we are doing monday, but I know that I have to give up some of my annual leave to make up the Bank Holiday

I might take DD to a soft play centre today. What do you think?

HellHathNoFury · 01/05/2008 09:43

I think that would be fab. DS loves that sort of thing.

foxythesnowfox · 01/05/2008 10:28

Hello.

At least its stopped fucking raining.

I am grumpy.

Called the gym today to find out how much £ I had on my creche pass. My membership has been frozen for probably 6 months now, but I thought I'd better do something about it.

Anyway, they've brought in a new rule. If the pass isn't used within a month you lose it.

FUCKING THIEVING BASTARDS

foxythesnowfox · 01/05/2008 11:10

And now I've just got a letter telling me that a bounced cheque has cost me £25. From an account I have never used on a cheque I never wrote!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 01/05/2008 11:22

That is an arse Foxy - on both counts

lackaDAISYcal · 01/05/2008 11:25

foxy, if they haven't written to you about the new rule, then they can't impose it on you. threaten them with Watchdog!!!

I'm sure the bank will get the cheque thing sorted, but the hassle of the phone calls it'll take for them to do thst I don't envy you at all!

Jammy, where in Yorkshire? anywhere near me? It's be lovely to meet up if possible

am off to the docs in a bit.....things not much better this morning, but DH home and is suitably contrite. We are skirting around the issue of the argument, but will talk later once the DCs are in bed.

we are having a barbecue for family and close friends for DD's birthday...we've got a gazebo thing so even if it's raining DH can still cook barbie food!

have a good day everyone; the rain is just starting here so we're stuck indoors.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 01/05/2008 11:30

Currently looking at a place at Thirsk Daisy. I had thought about the possibility of a meet up myself

foxythesnowfox · 01/05/2008 11:34

Hows your neck Daisy, good luck at the Drs today.

Hi Jammy - how lovely to have a holiday to look forward to!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 01/05/2008 11:41

Hi Foxy. I am really looking forward to our holiday. It'll be self catering, so not a total rest, but it'll be lovely to be away from the usual for a few days. We've been looking at various cottages on-line and that's fun in itself (though frustrating at times) looking at all the possibilities.

HellHathNoFury · 01/05/2008 11:57

Foxy I would seriously argue that - they hadn't told you. IMO they don't have a foot to stand on.

Threaten them, they will probably refund you just to shut you up.
