belated birthday wishes to pixel and happy birthday aidan!

we too have massive tantrums here this weekend - the first ones like it! refusing nappies, clothes etc. it took both of us to get him in a nappy on saturday afternoon and then getting him ready for bed was a nightmare - he went t-shirt less last night , and only wanted 2 mouthfuls of dinner so didn't get anything else extra. i was just so fed up with fighting with him all day! and the toilet training went completely out the window at the weekend - dh is just not bothered which really irritates me. i keep trying to drum into him - ask jacob if he needs to pee every hour, or he will pee in his pull ups - yes yes yes yes he says looking exasperated at me as if i am nagging, and then proceeds to ignore me! so jacob just peed in his pull ups all day pretty much yesterday. next week we are doing away with them for 2 weeks to do it properly and dh is going to have to take part or he's going to end up with accidents all the time. only problem is that jacob won't tell us when he wants a poo, just does it and tells me when he is doing it!

anyway, enough about that - what glorious weather we are having!!! 30 degrees in london apparently today. spent morning at the park and jacob going to paddling pool later on this afternoon with our au pair.

AnnieAreYouOkAreYouOkAnnie · 28/07/2008 16:11

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AIDEN!!!!

And belated HB to you Pixel for yesterday!

And Belated Happy Birthday to Leo too for Friday

(Keep up, Annie)

Flick, we are getting random massive unreasonable tantrums too, and refusal to co-operate with any instructions! And everything is 'I wanna do it all by myself', so even if you touch the frickin' drawer, she throws a wobbley cos she wanted to do it... sigh... Bloss, Toby sounds just like her, does he do manic laughing as well while he's running off? Ah the joys of it...

And complete regression to complete denial of all wees and poos...

Joey is definitely starting to get it though, but still has to be asked 17 times a minute and bribed to 'go and try'...
It's definitely at least 30 degrees here, everyone is walking around drenched in sweat... laaavely...

HC, I agree with Kbaby, you should deffo show off your bod! Hugs to you, hope all is well again with DH, and I'm sure the TTC will soon be a BFP x x x

Spin, I may have to pinch your 1-2-3 Magic thing - it sounds fab! Our naughty corner had to be upgraded to a Really Really Naughty Corner (outside the door instead of inside!) the other day. To be honest I can't remember what it was for, but it definiely involved completely ignoring me and running off a million times during dinner...

We went to a work-related BBQ yesterday too, and everyone was coo-ing over the two babes. We had the best excuse to leave at 6.30!! Bedtime!! It was a little dull but I did have my first ever Mojito and some Sangria mmmmm!

We're off up north on Thursday and up to Scotland for a couple of days too to see my very good friend who is due in September.

Love to all

ok who bloody jinxed bed time? T is usually really really good at going to bed - not tonight. Screamed and screamed, only for about 15 minutes, but thank god he is not in a bed yet!!!!

ceebee74 · 28/07/2008 19:54

Evening all

Annie - am v of the mojito - the best I can do is Sainsbury's non-alcoholic version (although even that is just the mixer and it advises you add Bacardi to it )! Have a nice time up north - it is quite nice you know

Flick - not sure how to say this without sounding critical so I apologise in advance but are you sure Jacob is ready for potty training? Is it that he showing signs or because you want to do it? Josh is nowhere near ready and tbh, it wouldn't surprise me if it is next summer before we do it - I am certainly in no rush whatsoever!!

Tis tantrum city here aswell - I guess it is true what they say about children once they hit 2!! Josh has a tantrum if you touch something the wrong way, takes at least 10 minutes (and usually 2 tantrums) to choose which t-shirt he wants on and always ends up with the original one and so on and so on - tis becoming very tiring and wearing and I guess we have only just started.

Right, got tons to do tonight - DH is away for 3 days from tomorrow (he must be doing a swap with you Annie as he is headed for London) so got to do the ironing, got to do my nails, make butties for tomorrow......

ImpyChica · 28/07/2008 21:45

Happy Birthday Aidan - though I guess you're tucked up in bed now... hope you had a fab day.

And belated Happy Birthday Pixel!!! Sounds like you had loads of fun. Have you got a nice group of mates on the IOW already? Hope so!

Hope the migraine's gone HC. You shoulda worn the bikini!

V funny tale there Bloss about your morning! Sounds like you earned your Goddess credentials keeping your cool in the face of all that!

We call 'em the Mini-Milk Meltdowns in the Impy Casa - had a couple over the weekend, only pacified by getting a mini milk... I know it's setting a bad precedent but what can u do?! As for potty-training, he tends to have his boxers on in the afternoon for 2-3 hours and doesn't have any accidents - but won't do anything on the toilet either. So I guess he's just got good bladder control . I know what you mean CB, but I'm desperate to get him out of nappies...

Rare treat of having DP here for a few days this week! He's off to Paris again on Thurs and then I'm going to join him on Fri for a dirty weekend!! Hurrah. Bit concerned about leaving Ry with his grandparents as he's such a mummy's boy.... But it'll only be a couple of days...

Love to all, Impy x

Hi everyone, I haven't posted on this thread since last year. (under a different name)

My ds was 2 last wed. Where does the time go! He had a lovely party on Sunday.

I have felt a bit of pressure to potty train but have decided ds is not ready. I think its because one or two of his friends are dry. (And I am sick of buying nappies).
He knows when he has done something but not when he is about to go iykwim. I can't say I'm looking forward to it.

HumphreysCorner · 29/07/2008 09:08

I am not even going to attempt potty training Sophie until January. Started Emma then but it was too early but she finally got it a couple of months later so was about 2 yrs and 9 months.

Welcome back poshtottie and belated Happy Birthday to DS. Wish I knew who you used to be.

spin-that's a lot of laps. Only lost 1/2 lb of the 7 I had put on. Doh!

Waves to everyone else. I dropped into the conversation with mum and dad last night that BF was 15 weeks PG with No3 and they were quite shocked and said how stupid and silly they were. My dad really got worked up about it. How on earth will I ever tell them if I fall PG with No3? [worried emoticon]

Hey HC they'll get over it! It's yours and DH's decision.

After a good intro, have not bothered with anything reotely potty like with Toby. he started saying no and I didn't push it. I think I'll start properly after we get back from holiday in November.

Which may coincide nicely with being made redundant at work.... They have started a formal process of emailing groups of people including me saying I am in an area of the business that is being considered for redundancies and by BF says they do that if they are looking at making more than 21 people redundant. Am torn about how I feel about it really - so bored an unmotivated and teh company is a complete shambles but I do get left completely alone and have a pretty easy ride. But that won't last whichever way it goes and it would be nice to be engaged and active and earnign some commission again. Am actively seeking alternative employment. Got phoned by two head hunters yesterday who couldn't out the phone down quick enough when I said I wanted part time work. But I know part time sales jobs exist because I am in one! We shall see....

Boys were good as gold this morning. Go figure.

Oh Bloss-at least the decision will be made for you eh? You can take your time finding the right replacement job but wow at being headhunted. A real confidence boost.

My girls seem to be really good at the moment-long may it last. I do suspect I may be tearing my hair out and eating my words when Emma has returned to school as she is teaching Sophie all her habits.

bloss what a pain for you - and having to go through the whole decision making process again...

HC - when you do fall pg with number 3 your parents will be totally different as it is you, and not someone else's daughter? For us 2 is enough because of the bad pregnancies, but if we hadn't had that, we would be going for 3, and we have so many friends that say "aaah now you've got 2 you'll be going for a third then"...and also lots of friends that went for number 3 and ended up with twins - go figure, and not even twins in their families!

and re potty training - i was all for waiting for at least another 2 months, but he's been dry at night for about a month now without us actually trying or obviously doing anything, and asking to go on the toilet before we even started asking him - every night and then started asking in the morning. The approach we are using at the moment is "can you tell mummy if you need to do a pee" and if he doesn't he doesn't, and if he does he does - and for yesterday and today, since mid morning yesterday, not one pee in the nappy - and he has asked every time. cue lots of praise but nothing bad (of course) if he doesn't ask. am going to see how he goes over the next week or two and then see. A number of friends of mine with 2 or more kids have also suggested after that week or two that we try 2 weeks without nappies and if we have more pees out of the toilet than in, then leave it for a couple of months. so we'll see

and ceebee not critical at all

and also funnily enough no tantrums yesterday or today! happy to get dressed, go to bed, everything...

must dash - being a good kiwi mum (well of kiwi boys iykwim!) and making anzac biscuits - and they're ready yummmmm

HumphreysCorner · 29/07/2008 16:57

Well, considering my mum is the youngest of 3 girls I thought she would think 3 was acceptable. I'm looking forward to having a little Chloe/Charlotte anyway.

Hello all, not posted for a bit but have been keeping up with the thread. DS is 2 on Thursday (just squeaking in as a July babe ) and we're having a little tea party at teh weekend. My parents are coming for the weekend, but are staying at B&B as we no longer have a spare room.

Potty training - DS hates the potty and won't sit on it, so think we are going straight for the toilet. DH has made him a little wooden loo seat and DS likes to sit on it before his bath. Doesn't do anything tho...

Oh and also (ignore this bit Annie ) I think DS is finally sleeping through the night. It only took 2 yrs! At the mo he is going 8pm-6am which is good enough for me A few months to get used to some kip before new bub arrives...

thefortbuilder · 29/07/2008 21:52

hey rhinestone - we're lucky if jacob sleeps through more than a couple of nights in a row!

HC chloe and charlotte are lovely names

i had a filling fall out tonight - rather annoyed as it was a broken tooth filling so i HAVE to go and get it sorted out - i really hate the dentist as well. had to be sedated for that broken tooth filling...

Happy belated birthday to leo and aidan, hope you both had lovely days.

Hc - I agree that charlotte is a lovely name also like chloe

Not much happening here, have given up on the potty, had tried putting charlotte on it before bathtime but she doesnt even tell me when nappy is wet or dirty so am taking this as shes not ready yet.

Getting new kitchen in soon and was dreading being housebound with charlotte while it gets installed but my mum has offered to take her so am very relieved

Been looking for holidays, dh is off in september. We thought with moving house we wouldnt be able to afford it but we've done not bad on doing up house on budget we had so we thought we'd use some savings and go enjoy ourselves. Trying to get a cheap deal though but not as cheap this year it looks, doesnt help that we now have to pay for charlotte now shes 2.

Twinklemegan · 29/07/2008 23:32

Hey Rhinestone - you're MaeWest right? We're going straight for the toilet with Aidan. He won't sit on the potty for more than a second and goes to get one of his soft toys to sit on top of! It must be really uncomfortable. I got him one of those soft toilet seats the other day and he sits on it just fine. Still doesn't do anything, but it's definite progress. We're taking it very slowly - I don't think he has enough control yet to go for full on potty/toilet training.

Thanks for all the b'day wishes everyone. We had a lovely day and the best day of the year for weather.

Sorry to hear about your job uncertainty Bloss. If it's any comfort, the biggest pile of work crap ever for me turned into something really good when we moved. And today I found out I've got a permanent job. So things can work out really well when you're pushed into making a change. Good luck.
