I think the reason you strike out didn't work before MHC is that you need to do -- round each word separately. Tis a right pain!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/04/2008 12:34

And in answer to your query, perhaps the older children are old enough to understand that sometimes grown ups get stressed and this makes them grumpy, and although it's not fair the grumpiness tends to get directed to the older children, not the younger ones? Perhaps a positive spin could be that the adult recognises that they are sufficiently mature to understand this and know that when the adult apologises it is sincere and none of it means the children are not loved? I'm sure a few cuddles etc wouldn't go amiss too.

I'm sure it's not often MHC, and no serious harm comes of it. Children have to learn that us grown ups get upset sometimes too.

Other than that, how are you?

Tis a blight they have to live with, I'm afraid MHC.

But they do get new clothes first.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/04/2008 13:21

I think it's normal to worry. And I think we all worry about our own childhoods and wanting to give our LOs the best of our memories, and protect them from the worst bits. Even if those worst bits are not really anything bad IYSWIM

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/04/2008 13:22

I'm also glad Dr Who is back. Though those aliens were too cute to be scary last night.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/04/2008 13:22

Oh, hi Foxy, almost didn't see you there (oops)

foxythesnowman · 06/04/2008 13:24

LO still not well. Woke and puked in my bed at 6am.

Gave her Nurofen at about 7.30. I think her temp is rising again, her hands are V V cold, a bit blue, her lips are too. she looks really cold. She's wearing a vest, babygro, cardi and blanket over her feet and is having a bf. She ate her lunch, her appetite is small, but she is still taking food and BM.

Any thoughts?

foxythesnowman · 06/04/2008 13:25

Hi Jammy. I think you are right about the memories.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/04/2008 13:54

Sorry to hear about LO Foxy. No real advice though. Trying to tidy up and simultaneously entertain my (over)tired-but-won't sleep daughter. Not able to do both though, so have settled down to offer her a BF in hope it might soothe her to sleep.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/04/2008 13:57

Blue hands don't sound good, but my instinct is that if she's eating something taking BM, then there's prob not much you can do other than look after her and give pain relief/control temperature as required. But of course, what do I know really, and you should seek further advice if you're worried.

well bf plan didn't work

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/04/2008 14:08

MHC, your ill baby plan sounds lovely. I'll remember that one. Might have to bring the duvey down to the sofa though, as I get too bored in bed.

Thanks, taking to bed sounds lovely! I have a pile of magazines waiting to be read and several books to get through. Alas, my mother is on her way, boys need picking up from a party and I'm probably cooking dinner for everyone.

She's alseep now, sounds like she has a cold and sore throat, but I'm not too worried as she's eating and drinking.

This is exactly what happened lst time I had her booked in for her 3rd lot of jabs. They are rescheduled for tomorrow morning!

RiaisMaLarkin · 06/04/2008 19:10

DKMA - if you can't get a babysitter on personal recommendation you could try approacing the childcare dept of your local college. They could have students wanting extra experience. They'll be just that bit older and will probably have a CRB check. We used students for DS1, but haven't had a none-family sitter since then, it's been so long since we've needed one!

oh no i've got myself into the debate on the Olympics in China. I just can't stand protesters - it all seems so aimless and sad. Why throw yourself around in public like a tantruming 2 year old? It puzzles me. Targeting the Olympics is high profile but is so misplaced - if anything it's a great symbol of tolerance. Oh dear. Sorry to drag this in, but it's weighing on my mind. Best go read more about language dysfunction and direct my own energies elsewhere...

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 06/04/2008 19:33

OK, so the jamlet is in bed, dinner is in the oven (an hour to go), nursery stuff is ready, I've got clean clothes ready for work tomorrow, so I need someone to chat to!

DKMA · 06/04/2008 20:04

Evening

Ria - you've just given me an idea! One of the girls that works at the stables on the weekends is doing a childcare course at college and is about to start a placement at lo's nursery (with the older group) - I could ask her - problem is we live out in the sticks and it's a long dark drive back into civilisation late at night and I think she's only about 18. I could ask her though!

LQ - I know what you mean about the whole 'protesters' thing. Very rarely do you get a peaceful and genuine protest it seems - which is a shame as I think the principle is good - however most protests seem to be made up of 'rent a crowd' - people who just seem hell bent on making a scene - probably not even understanding the reason they are protesting!

I rememmber when I was 11 and out hunting (don't do it now I am an adult btw!) a saboture spat in my face - it was clear he was doing it to get a reaction out of the adults and to start a fight! They then went and sprayed the dogs eyes with pepper - the dogs were howling in agony for ages. We all just had to sit there and wait for these 'animal rights activists' (yeh right!) to move away before we could ride on - and not one of us said a word to them! Fu*ing waners!!! Oh now I'm on my soap box!!!

Jammy you seem far too organised! I've got a shit load of work to do, and 2 loads of washing to get done! Serves me right for ponsing about in the gym!!
