Leesmum - hope you have a lovely day with your family remembering your dad . Will keep an eye out for balloons floating by...

omy · 02/04/2008 15:17

Beautiful - what sort of pump have you got? I have a medela swing electric and you can set in really low so it feels like your nips are being tickled! he he

Beautiful - your post made me well up a bit - spot on!!

Sherida - hope things are calming down for you a bit

I have discovered wireless network - I'm in the kitchen, ds1 is charging about bursting bubbles from his bubble machine (what a great invention) and ds2 is in his chair watching ds1 from a safe distance!!! Man what a night - ds2 woke for a feed about 12am, was wet through so I changed him and then that was him awake until gone 3am It's difficult to be cross at first though cause the noises he makes are soooo cute - but an hour later he could be dancing round a la ally mcbeal and believe me it would not have raised a smile!!! To top it off dp just gets stupid about it:

DP: Can't we just bung him in the other room (nursery)
Me: Nooo because it'll be all new and keep him awake longer
DP: But at least I couldn't hear him and could get some sleep
SJ: Oh great I'll just ge tup to him every 5 mins shall I besides which it'll end up waking up ds1
DP: So what? I need to get some sleep, I've got to go to work
SJ: And I've got to spend the day with the boys on no sleep
DP: yeah but work is work

Compared to what?????????????????????

God that man does not know he's been born!!!!! Needless to say I was dreading today but actually ds1 has been great and ds2 seems to be settling down - I'm wondering if it's a growth spurt cause he just wants to eat and sleep!!!! Just keep bringing me the tea!!!!!

CountTo10 · 02/04/2008 15:45

Anyone seen anything of Tyaca? Just haven't seen her around for a couple of days. Hope she's ok.

Egg · 02/04/2008 19:30

Sarah we spent a great £13 the other day on a Fireman Sam DVD. Watched 5 episodes in a row earlier. My DS1 LOVES the helicopter so his fave episode is where the lad gets stuck on a mountain whilst rescuing a sheep and the helicopter is called in!

gingermumi · 02/04/2008 20:05

Hey ladies... long time no speaky! DD2's computer got a virus so dh had to rebuild it and for some reason this involved taking our pc apart as well! Also, one of my elderly rellies died unexpectedly (my poor mum found her) so that took up some time too. What was the thought on taking a LO to a funeral, i remember this questoion from earlier, but not the replies?

Have been to diabetes clinic today - gestational diabetes all gone but advised to have blood sugar checked annually, nurse said 'if you have another baby, come straight to us, don't wait to be referred'... another baby ...I'm 42 and have 3 already!!! But then again... despite crap pregnancy I'm lovin' having a baby again so another would be lovely. Am i crazy?!

Have given up trying to catch up on news but i hope everyone's ok

I did see a post from pobletsmum- my dds love their baby bro, dd1 is quite besotted tbh and dd2 is away on work placment (at a monkey rescue on the Isle of Wight) and really misses him.

LO sleeps through most nights now so cot is a huge success. He is however, constantly hungry atm and has gone back to feeding every two hours and generally being a bit grumpy. Spoke to HV about weaning him early but she said not to - he's 13 weeks on friday(when dds were tiny you did wean at 3 or 4 months). She suggested giving him a ff once a day as an 'extra' - tried it today and he hated it. will get dh to try instead. Any thoughts on weanng, especially those of you with LOs that have weaned since theories changed. Thanks!

Well, have to go as dd2 coming over to get us to sign some forms for her new accomodation- we have to be guarantors...it's wierd having children at both ends of scale (as it were) but kinda nice too

BEAUTlFUL · 02/04/2008 21:20

Omy, aaah, maybe that's the secret. I just have one of those cheapy hand-pump ones. Makes your nipples feel like birds getting sucked into an aeroplane engine. Afterwards they look like () ()

...But a bit droopier.

omy · 02/04/2008 22:10

Beautiful - hand pumps suck!!! ha ha.
you must get an electric one.

ginger - nice to hear from you. my 16 yr old is getting used to LO now - she was a bit distant at first. 10 yr old was v excited at first and is now getting a bit bored....
How did you get your LO to sleep through!!! genius.

omy · 02/04/2008 22:12

I got my pump 2nd hand from gumtree.com for £40 - they also have them on ebay for about £50

OP posts:
gingermumi · 02/04/2008 22:26

OMY- we let him stay up in the evening (dh likes to play with him!) - i think this probably helps!

Sherida · 03/04/2008 08:12

Morning! Had a better day yesterday DD actually copied some sounds I made while having a bit of a cuddle and a smile. Made me feel loads better to see that. She's having a good kick around now, looking at me loads and turning her head to see me when I am in the room. Hooray at last!

Seeing the posts about electric pumps reminds me I need to box my Medela up because I only got it to express, and now I am not expressing I've wasted £50! Oh well that's life and at least I tried! Does anyone know if the ones on ebay actually sell? Wawsn't sure if people even wanted 2nd hand ones until Omy's post.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 03/04/2008 08:27

Egg- you may alread y have it but in sainsburys they have the toys for firman sam too- includes helicopted and Tom to fly!!!! Ds had it for bday in jan and he plays with it everyday- Worth a look i guess!!

We also watch numerous episodeds on dvd too!!!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 03/04/2008 08:28

sherida- Glas to hear you had a good day yesterday- You seem to be much happier too !!! I am so glad its working out for you xxx

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 03/04/2008 08:32

Oh i forgot!!! ginger i went to a funeral last Wed with DD(7wks) I got a few funny looks when entering church but other than that all ok- she slept the whole time- i think its your choice what you do and take no notice of anyone else- i am sure the person who has passed away would rather you were there with child than not at all-

Sorry to hear of your loss BTW- hope all goes well- also hope your mum is ok after discovering her.

beansprout · 03/04/2008 08:39

Sherida - I am after an electric pump if you are selling. What sort of condition is it in and how much would you like for it? Don't feel obliged to sell to me though, if you want to go on ebay, I understand!!

Dh is very busy with work atm, which is leaving me with a lot to do and I still don't feel 100%. He has an article in the Grauniad today here if anyone is interested. [proud emoticon]

ginger - I am in the "wait until 6 months" camp as I understand the guidelines changed as the boffins now know more about what little digestive systems need. Ds1 had some hideous growth spurts but didn't really take to food until about 7 months. I might even try BLW with titch.

Yegods, I can smell the nappy he has just filled from the other side of the room... time to go and do some mum stuff...

Sherida · 03/04/2008 08:51

Bean, its almost new as I only used it a week or 2. Its the Medela mini electric so single pump. Includes instructions, and unopened breast pads, and nipple cream. Have to say it's quite good, at my best I was getting about 260ml in an hour! Maybe that was just me before I lost milk tho. It's not that quiet although it says its one of the quietest on the shelves. As for how much I haven't a clue! Feel free to make me an offer ;).

Sherida · 03/04/2008 08:59

Wont be offended if you dont want it tho! Will stick it on ebay if not. If you do, will include pack of Boots breastmilk bags.

beansprout · 03/04/2008 10:29

£45 seems to be the going rate on Amazon for nearly new, so would that be ok?

Sherida · 03/04/2008 11:38

OMG i'm not going to ask that! I was looking for £30 incl p&p.

Sherida · 03/04/2008 11:39

Ahh we should move this conversation to a more appropriate thread lol.

gingermumi · 03/04/2008 11:48

Sarah and bean thanks for advice and info.

Bean read your dh's article - pretty good stuff and i agree totally. I was brought up on doing my own thing in the fields near by, today they all have houses on! My dds played in the street lots but we did live in a vey family friendly cul de sac. We have a big garden now which we love but are being pressured to sell by a builder (who has bought the adjacent gardens and has started to to devlop). We don't want to sell up for exactly the reasons your dh talks about - its really important to have a place to simply play. My neighbour has a small child and like us, a huge garden, i rarely see him outside, i think it's such a shame.

#Ds is waking up so have to go for now.

Egg · 03/04/2008 12:17

Bean a great article, no wonder you are proud . DH is always always talking of his childhood growing up in Devon and playing in the woods and fields all day long, only coming in when his mum did the tarzan call to get he and his brothers in for lunch. I grew up in London but on a quiet cul de sac so my sister and I and are friends also played out all day.

Where we now live, we are 30 seconds walk from the park (big open space plus wetlands area), about 5 mins from the swings, and about 3 mins from the leisure centre. It is lovely, and we are lucky, but we are only renting although hopefully will buy here when the market settles down. We do have a garden, not v big but big enough for me to chase DS1 round. Am happy as he is now choosing the "gardoon" (as he calls it) over television now the weather is better. My main prob is that he loves the swings, but taking him there with both babies too is a challenge. Fine as long as all goes well, but if DS1 has a tantrum I need to have a puschair to put him in or I will never get him home, which means I have to have a baby in the sling, thus making it hard to get a struggling kicking DS1 into the pushchair if he does have a tantrum. Even getting him onto the swings or catching him when he decides to jump from the top of the slide instead of going down the slide are a real challenge with a baby in the sling...

Sorry, long ramble again.

LOL at looking back at our old threads. Seems so recent but I got my BFP on 29 May, which is TEN MONTHS AGO. I remember I couldn't wait to come and post that they found two babies in there when I had my early scan, I was so proud despite being terrified! So sad that not all of the gang made it to the end, but there are many of them who have since had BFPs again .

Am trying to get all chores done today, clean sheets on bed, bathed babies etc etc. DD has been asleep over an hour but DS2 only just gone to bed so by the time he is settled she will be waking up. Still, it was nice just now to spend some time alone with DS2, he did some gorgeous smiles as well as a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge poo. He is now yodelling up in the bed, half crying and half talking, while DD is lying next to him completely zonked out.

Ginger, on the subject of weaning, my mum said to me a few weeks ago "only a few weeks til you can get them onto solids and they'll sleep longer" and I thought "ooooh, go on MN and say that and you'll be flamed". I am somewhere in the middle. With DS1 I intended to wait til 6 months, but after a visit from the HV when he was 5 months (she rushed round after I called her in tears after a week of him waking 15 times a night) she suggested starting him on solids and it did help. I want these two to wait as long as poss, mainly because I can't be bothered with the faff of pureeing stuff, so might even try as Beany said and see if they fancy a bit of BLW. Have a feeling DS2 will be ready far earlier than DD but maybe she will surprise me.

Right, time for a sausage sandwich... Did I mention I am not starting my weight loss plan until I have finished all my Easter chocolate? Oh bugger I was supposed to get on the exercise bike today, better get it done now while the littlies are in bed.

Egg · 03/04/2008 12:18

Oh my god that was long .

gingermumi · 03/04/2008 12:51

lol eGG! Am impressed with your housework, haven't even stcaked breakfast things in dishwasher but have given toby a bath, consdiering how often he's feeding that's an achievement for me!

Bean, was thinking about growth spurts - i take it your lo's feeding settled down again, i didn't have this problem with dds. I have just fed ds again, so far this morning it's been an hour and a hour and half between feeds. I tried a bottle again but he wont take it from me so i might as well feed him myself (which we both prefer!). How long did your lo take to settle back to a normal pattern?

On subject of BFP have just had my first since preg - it's been nearly a year for me (last BFP was 27th April 07), was really heavy, had to use left over mat towels (TMI I know) so be prepared ladies!
