Leifmum, my "skinny" jeans are size 24, so would be fatty jeans for most people! LOL Anyway there's nowt wrong with a little embroidery of the truth, if only to make the other postnatal groups seethe muahaha :P

Sorry about your job news, that's a bummer, have they explored every option? jobshares etc? Wow, your lo is crawling already! I feel like J would be if his pot belly wasn't in the way, bless him.

Bloody landlord didn't turn up, hoping he's not going to turn up unannounced this weekend- not staying in for him anyway, if he doesn't ring ahead then he can shove off afaic.

Congrat Knickers. At least you can ask Tash she expert on having 3 DC at a young age (said the old croney of 38).

Because you're pumped full of pg hormones. You're bound have mixed emotions honey, it's a shock, and you were already having a difficult week. Just give yourself some time to think about it all, you don't have to be happy about it right now, coping with the news is enough, all the rest will come in time. You will be fine though, honestly!

helibee · 29/02/2008 21:46

oh knickers, i'm sending you big hugs. James is right, you need to get used to the news but your already a great mummy to a dd and she'll be over the moon with a playmate i'm sure

james-you make me laugh about the "skinny jeans"

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 29/02/2008 23:13

Probably regret posting this as I sound like darth vader with the flu on it, and give a stupid pointless commentary throughout while James just ignores me and munches. It's long too, 7:18 min long (sorry!) as I forgot the time and let the camera run. Oh, and I didn't expect him to eat all that food, I gave him that much knowing that 3/4 of it ends up on the floor. Ok, all disclaimers added, link!

OP posts:
helibee · 29/02/2008 23:28

James is just so cute and edible-i wish callum would eat more like that, the sound is off on the computer so i can't comment on the voice but i'll watch it tomorrow with the sound

helibee · 29/02/2008 23:29

i'm uploading callums pics if you want to take a peek

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 01/03/2008 00:00

Aaaw Callum is beeeyoootiful. Love the first pic of him newborn, and the one of him asleep with his dummy in, so cute! God I love babies.

Morning everyone!

How are you feeling today Knickers? just been looking at the pics of charlotte - what a sweetie!

James i made dd watch your video clip! i really need to get myself more organised. the blw has kind of faltered due to lack of food in the house! i think once we move i'll get into it with a vengeance. hoing the new kitchen and tiled floor will inspire me!

helibee callum is gorgeous too! aren't we all so lucky to have beautiful babes!

well the sun is shining here so once dd wakes up from her morning nap we'll be off out for a walk. might go to tesco later. want to buy another pair of jeans. tried some on in asda the other day. couldn't get them over the thighs.......refused to get next size up! think i may have to just bite the bullet!!!

Big hugs, knickers. That could have been me, today, I'm sure I'd have been exactly the same. Just remember if you join a MN antenatal group (october 08 if you're 2 months gone?) to still keep us posted. You can make us all broody and jealous when you have a gorgeous little bundle and we've got big lolloping 1yr olds!

Leifmum, blw is difficult sometimes isn't it? I have to admit the other day James has three jars of babyfood, and just a rusk and a satsuma for fingerfood as I'd run out of everything. What kind of things do you do for blw? I do:

roasted veg sticks, roasted new potatoes
steamed baby sweetcorn, carrot sticks, broccoli
eggy bread fingers
toast with hummus/cheese and chopped tomato/unsalted butter and marmite
potato cakes (mashed potato, grated strong cheese, bit of flour, squidged into a sausage shape and fried in a bit of butter)
fruit wedges (no apple though) or salad (no lettuce yet)
cheese of all strength/varieties, not too crumbly though
rusks/organix biscuits
pasta tubes with philedelphia and spinach or tomato based sauce with really chunky holdable veg (mushrooms didn't work that well though, you need teeth really)
rice cakes, crackers, garlic bread, breadsticks, toasted pitta bread (untoasted fell to bits and made him gag) toasted fruit teacake

I want to try:

homemade potato wedges, perhaps with some cheese melted on them at the end
kiddy baked beans, mashed and spread on toast, possibly with mashed boiled egg
aitch's grated cheese, carrot and cumin pitta bread halves, toasted in the toaster (rave reviews)
lentil wedges (again, aitch's blog)
runner beans, roast parsnips, yorkshire pudding
home made fishfingers
apple and pear spread
weetabix given as fingerfood
malt loaf/homemade fruit flapjacks

He doesn't appear to like pieces of meat although he doesn't mind the taste in jars of babyfood. I'm not bothered as I'm a veggie. I can't decide whether introducing quorn would be a bad thing yet. It IS highly processed but it's generally heralded as a good healthy thing, high in protein, low in fat, no msg etc. I suppose if it was the only thing with salt in given that day it wouldn't be that bad? what do you guys think?

Glad you got the result you wanted James.

Knickers - My sil had her second baby 2 days before her first baby's 1st birthday. The home tests are generally as accurate as the one the doc does. I didn't get tested by the docs for either of mine.

leifmum - sorry to hear about the job situation. Will it be a part time position at the lower grade that you'll go back to? It must be disappointing that you've worked hard to get to your current grade only to have to go down again. My dd did commando crawling for months before she properly crawled. Ds has been trying for ages, bless him, but his big tummy 'grounds' him and he can't move. He's getting better at getting his knees up underneath him and pushing his bum up. He's just got to work on doing that and his arms at the same time.

GillL · 01/03/2008 11:16

Didn't check the last page of posts. Sorry you're feeling down today knickers. I'm sure you'll be feeling much better once the news has sunk in. Big hugs.

leifmum · 01/03/2008 13:11

good god james you've just made me feel so inadequate. you're a fully fledged nigella compared to me! most of dd's finger foods have been toast/bagel/teacake/hot cross bun.....fruit, faves definitely banana aand kiwi but owrryingly saw on another thread that some people think you should steer clear of kiwi until 12 months. then basically any veg/ salad i'm eating or is left over. forgot about rusks and rice cakes. my main thing is like you i worry she doesn't eat enough and i think i'm too impatient so end up actually feeeding her chunks. so far meat wise she's only really had mince in bolognese but she did have qourn mince in bolognese the other day and she seemed to prefer that. think because it's softer? she does seem to like baked beans too. dh has always been the one to cook chez leif which is part of my problem. i don't have a cooking brain! must read aicth's blog.

hi gill! my role before dd was deputy team leader and they say i can't do that part time because of continuity. i totally understand that and to be honest not too bothered about the position itself, just like the extra wages it gives me! only speculating here but think they'll offer me doing the keeper-for-a-day instead and hopefully give me a day a week doing studbook work. we'll see but keep your fingers crossed.

have just attempted making rice pudding for the first time. just taken it out the oven and it's not bad, could have done with more milk i think but certainly edible! not made it for our walk yet and just put dd down for another nap! i will get out this afternoon!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 01/03/2008 13:56

God no, I'm not a very good cook! I don't attempt anything adventurous but I have to cook cos dp won't. I'll be honest, before lo started weaning we mostly ate frozen things you can bung in the oven for 20 mins then shovel onto a plate. Having to expand our foody horizons a bit for the blw, that's all, and still some days it's not so much veg sticks and hummus as one-too-many-rusks.

That list is almost everything he's had so far (I left off last nights naughty chippy chip dipped in mushy peas, and the segment of unbattered cod which was retched at) Bagels are great for blw aren't they? will have to try hot cross bun, too. I always "forget" to give him banana as they're insanely messy. (bad mummy)

Dp hasn't had a fag in about 24 hours and I've got period pains, we just had a barney about the state of the house which culminated in him throwing a cd. I'm obviously such an unreasonable bitch daring to suggest he might help out with the housework for an hour on the weekend... Bloody men.

OP posts:
leifmum · 01/03/2008 16:55

too right you're unreasonable. he's out working all week while you're sat at home doing nothing all day. why should he help on his day off?!!!!!!!

well finally got out for our walk. at the furthest point from home got a bloody puncture! so unimpressed. tried to walk back keeping weight off one wheel culminating in one very sore knee! meant i didn't get my lottery ticket either and of course tonight is the night i was definitely going to win!

tasha22 · 01/03/2008 17:11

hiya everyone. hope everyone is well? and enjoying the weekend?(sames as every other day if you ask me)

james id give him a kick up the arse!

leifmum- im convinced im gonna win tonight.. done 2 rows so ill pop on later when im rich

knickers-hope your feeling a little better. this pregnancy will fly in with lo still wee so enjoy it

better go feed lo. hope everyone gets cards and brekki in bed dp got tomorrow off he only has to go in 5-9

lizziemun · 01/03/2008 17:51

James, we must be in the same time frame.

I have bad pmt and i am very tired (both DD's have been awake at 5am everyday for a week.

DH had a cheese ommelette for lunch i go into the kitchen afterwards and there was egg(raw) all over the worktop and floor. And while i crashing around he had the check to ask what wrong, and i am afraid he got both barrels of how i feel.

I then took Lexie to mums to look after for a couple of hours while i took Lizzie to a birthday party at Macdonalds.

How weird is my child everyone else is eating burger and chips with fruit shoots and she has chicken nuggets with a fruit bag and a bottle of fresh orange juice .

Anyway enough of my day.

Hello everyone.

I just wondered if this thread is open to "newcomers"? I'm not a newbie to mnet - have been posting most days for the past 4 months or so, but have never ventured here.

My dd2 is 6.5 months old (born August 15th) and I guess that most/all of you are in a similar position. I kind of thought that lots of the issues I am going through are familiar to some of you as well.

Hope to "talk" to some of you soon.
