James - sorry to here about your dad, as Helibee said must be so hard for you in this situation

GillL - Tate also had a hard fall the other day, said to dh, im getting in the shower , where shall i put him so you can watch him, dh said on the bed, well yes you can guess he rolled straight off and fell straight on his face, he was so upset, tate very rarley gets upset and i dont think he know what to do with himself so after 20 mins and crying he fell asleep! DH did feel very bad and also reminded me that i did this to ds1!!

Helibee - with regards to passports , i took baby into snappy snaps and the did his photos for me, they put a white blanket behind him in his pram and then they make them to size for you, cost £9.99 - we got passport back in 1 week!

Hersetta · 16/04/2008 08:52

Helibee,

Caitlin is a well experienced flyer already. We've been to Spain 4 times since she was born (my Mum lives there) and we're off there for a weekend next month and are then Heading to Menorca for a fortnight in June. We've had no problems on the plane so far (touch wood) and everyone has been lovely - including a lady asking if she could have a cuddle with Caitlin as she was beemed at her constantly. The flight down to london with be so quick that Callum will hopefully be too interested in everything going on around him to kick off much I suspect. Caitlin seems facinated by the cabin crew and watches them intently.

We got her passport photos done when she was just 5 weeks old as we flew when she was 10 weeks and going to a photo booth was a waste of time and £4.50. We ended up going to a local photograghers who all seem to have special passport cameras and within a couple of minutes we had 4 lovely photos for her passport and they cost just £5. The pictures are done digitally so we could choose the best one but had to reject most of them as Caitlin took a shine to the photogragher and beemed her gummy smile at him the whole time and even for babies they can't be smiling or have there mouth open.

I have heard that a web site called www.paspic.com is supposed to be very good. you take a photo of your baby and download it to them and then convert it to a suitable passport photo and sent it back to you by post the same day. think it only costs something like £2.50.

We had an NCT class reunion lunch on Sunday so 5 sets of parents and 5 babies. It was amazing to see some of the differences in the babies. We had one little boy 3 days older than Caitlin and he was crawling like a champion whilst another born 9 hours after Caitlin hadn't even managed to roll over yet, although i think that may have had something to do with him being a touch on the porky side - his arms were like the michelin mans with great big fat creases in them.

Uki · 16/04/2008 13:47

Hi All

Tasha- you sound much better, glad all is working out now with baby and dp, CONGRATULATIONS and try and take it easy, eat well and all. I saw your other thread last week my dentist said teeth suffer from pg and bf, so make sure your eating plenty of dairy and healthy food

James- is your dad sorry at all, for what he did. I guess if he is sorry, and remorseful, it would mean reconciliation may be easier.

hersetta- reunion sounds fun, hope you stay in contact with one or two, the comparisons can then continue.

LL is 8 months today, and I'm 33 It was probably the most un birthday I've ever had, so many chores and work, (you name it, I cooked it cleaned it, wrote it, sent it, filled it, I guess dc's take away that day to yourself. Got some nice calls from friends, though, but throughly knacked. I did get a lovely new red bag and pancakes for breakfast.
Off to bed now, have a great day everyone.

Hersetta · 16/04/2008 14:40

Happy birthday Uki!

GillL · 16/04/2008 15:49

Happy birthday Uki. Hope you get the chance to celebrate properly.

Hersetta - it's great to have others with babies the same age in rl (as well as online ). I'm still in touch with 3 of the ladies I met at NCT classes 3 years on. I don't meet with them very often but it's nice to catch up and the kids are now at the sort of age where they play together instead of just play alongside each other.

tasha22 · 16/04/2008 16:56

sorry havent got time to catch up as dp will be backlooking fed soon but happy birthday uki!!!

lo got weighed today and hes dropped back down to 10lb14oz

helibee · 16/04/2008 22:41

Happy Birthday Uki-albeit a very delayed sentiment from mhere (sorry i didn't get the chance to check on here earlier)

thanks hersetta and pinkranger for advice on the passport pics-not sure how i'm supposed to get one of him with his mouth closed though at this age-whoever wrote the guidelines does not have kids?

tasha-sorry to hear about your lo-we'll be sending you lots of weight vibes-has he got any better at eating yet?

shrinkingsagpuss · 17/04/2008 13:42

re passsports - it says on the application pack " because young children are difficult to photograph, children aged 5 and under do not need to have a neutral expression. We will also accept glare on glasses or pictures with their head at an angle. Also children aged five and under do not need to look directly at the camera".

I take this to mena that providing their eyes are open, and there is no-one else in the picture, it doesn't really matter what else they are doing.

they can certainly smile.

sorry. Dived in to say that, as it mkaes me a little cross when people are forced to spend loads on new picures when the first ones would have ebnn fine. Incidentally, I got DD's done the other day, not a smile in sight, but the photos are v cute.

Pinkranger · 18/04/2008 08:59

Good Morning eveyone -
Horrible weather today am working today so was going to take kids to the farm but maybe not!! Looks like indoor ball pit!!!!
Have a husband free weekend as he is o n a stag do - ok so i have to do the kids all on my own for 3 days but hey ,come 8pm the Telly is mine and piece and quiet!

Sorry to hear about lo weight Tash, have they gave you any advice, does he eat pretty well ?

GillL · 18/04/2008 10:39

Hi pink. Wow - peace and quiet by 8pm. Can I come to your house? Ds goes to bed around 7 but I'm lucky if dd is asleep by 9. The last 2 nights she's fallen asleep in the car. Yesterday morning she was up at 4:20 and then ds woke at 5. This morning they were both awake at 1am I gave ds a bottle and he went back to bed in less than an hour but dd was wide awake and didn't go back to sleep til nearly 3 and that was in my bed so I didn't sleep well and I'm shattered. I'm leaving work early today though so I'll be off at 2:30 (not that it will allow me to catch up on sleep).

Ds is getting better at commando crawling now. He was doing it this morning quite well but couldn't manage to move more than a couple of feet. He's so heavy though it probably takes all of his strengh.

Hope everyone's got a nice weekend planned. I'm hoping to get out with dd to the park if it isn't raining. Hope you have a nice time at the ball pit pink.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 18/04/2008 14:18

Hello folks, sorry I've given other people a chance to speak neglected the thread for a few days, been busy with one thing or another, and we're off to s/wales in an hour or so for the weekend.

Haven't read thread properly, haven't got much time. Happy belated birthday Uki! hope you had a nice time. Rubbing James's bum on the screen again for you tasha, glad you're doing ok, sorry the ms has kicked in. How's yours now, knickers?

Got my hair cut today, feels a lot better, even though she didn't really cut enough off for me (needed a good 5 inches off really)

James has started "dancing" to the music on cbeebies, particularly the rubbadubbers themetune! he rocks enthusiastically back and forth on his bum with a huge grin on his face, it's cute.

Dad still in hospital but he had his hip replacement the next day! should be home in a day or two, I thought he'd be in for a while. Think they're trying to get rid of him! lol

Hope alls well, see you all sunday/monday, have a lovely weekend!! xxx

lizziemun · 18/04/2008 14:28

Have a nice weekend James.

I haven't been around much this week as my mum has been stopping with us while her bathroom has been replaced.

Why is it when on the very odd occassion me and dh are going out does one of the children get ill.

DD1 has come home from school today looking all flushed and a temperture. Luckly mum's looking after them tomorrow night, and they will be both in bed by 7pm.

tasha22 · 18/04/2008 15:00

lizziemun- aww hope your dd1 feels better soon.

lo was seen by peads today and theyve put him on sma higher calorie milk, there was also a mention of cystic fibrosis think just to scare me but i could hardly understand the doc. he has a dietician phoning me in a week and he goes back to peadiatrics in 4 weeks so hopefully he picks up and his breathing gets better but hes always been a wheezey baby. back soon lo crying........

tasha22 · 18/04/2008 17:12

looked up cystic fibrosis there and he seems to have the symptoms but its not in our family as far as i know??? i dont know what to think i wish they had of just tested him for it rather than just asking me if its in the family while listening into his chest and leaving me to worry for 4 weeks it says that not thriving can be one of the symptoms aswell

lizziemun · 18/04/2008 17:32

Tasha

Don't thet test for CF at birth. I know when i had Lexie it was automatically done when she had the blood test. I'm not sure if we are in a test area.

tasha22 · 18/04/2008 17:39

he did get the heel prick but still wandering why he was asking me about it though. im just being a worry mummy

Uki · 20/04/2008 08:15

Hi ya

Thanks for all the birthday greetings, I have just finished work, I did about 7 days straight of workshops, but have nothing coming up for a while now. LL was quite good for dp, but he had his hands full with the 2.

Tash - I can imagine the worry, poor you. I hope he is alright. they shouldn't just say CF without telling you more. hopefully he will gain some more weight soon, maybe he just had a growth spurt?

Gill- hope the sleep is better, I must admit I'm buggered this week with trying to work and having LO's -it's full on that's for sure.

Are any one's LO's properly crawling yet? i thought LL was on his way, but think he is very comfortable with Commando Crawling now.

lizziemun · 20/04/2008 18:40

Yes, although Lexie is a month younger (7.5mths) then most on here she has been crawling properly for a month and this weekend she is pulling herself upto standing.

tasha22 · 20/04/2008 20:31

uki-lo can move along on his belly a little but not crawling yet. he just threw up an 8oz bottle and has only had 2 today appart from that one and one of them was forced. every time he goes up a little in weight he drops right back down again. if i force a bottle into him hes sick all over the place exorcist style and if i dont he looses weight. he was drinking more than he is supposed to for his weight before he was put on the higher calorie milk and still dropping and now hes on higher calorie he wont drink very much. i just want somebody to tell me what im suposed to do hes due to go for his second op june/july time and hee will drop more after that. im going to phone the doctor tomorrow and ask them to tell me that my son could not possibly have cystic fibrosis or test him they cant leave me with that on my mind for 4 weeks. i dont know whats wrong with him and its driving me mad. i tried giving him a dream feed at 1am thismorning and he just kept refusing and then went into one of his fits of coughing.

sorry for going on. i hope everyone had a nice weekend.

helibee · 20/04/2008 23:01

oh tasha you poor thing-that was really irresponsible for them to say that about the CF with your lo, hope he's ok.
Will he take little and often with the feeds, say 1-2 ounces every 1-2 hours rather than a whole bottle in the one go? Is he able to take any food, such as very milky rice or yoghurt thickened with rice? If you need anything let me know, i sent you my email on the CAT.

Uki-glad you had a good birthday, sounds like you've had a busy week. Callum is 8 months old today and crawling better now and he is pulling himself up but he's still happiest when walking, he walks fairly confidently just holding on to one hand

lizziemum-lexie sounds like she's doing really well

shrinkingsagpuss · 21/04/2008 13:49

bloody hell Tasha - your poor lo - and you, hope they come back with an answer soon.

I will ask my m/w if the heel prick can miss CF - and also to check if they test for CF in all areas - not ALL h/a test for all things on the heel prick.

DD is not quite crawling, but very very nealry. She gets her foot stuck and gets cross, but on shiny surfaces she can shift. She's been getting v fed up with it, and has been a stroppy moo recently.

GillL · 21/04/2008 14:03

Uki - sleep is not much better unfortunately. Saturday night wasn't too bad but they were both up at 1am again last night. We had to go to my mum's and didn't leave til 5 so she went to sleep in the car and woke up hungry at 1. I'd been up for an hour and a half and ds wasn't happy in the cot anymore so I took him down to dh who was on the sofa. I'd just got back to sleep when he shouted at ds for pinching him and then ds screamed for ages. I'd just got back to sleep again when he shouted at dd for crying and not going back to sleep

Ds started commando crawling on Friday. He probably won't be properly crawling for ages and walking is most definitely out of the picture. He will stand for a few seconds and then his legs give way under all that weight

Tasha - that's awful. I've got my fingers crossed for you that the higher calorie milk does the trick. There must be someone who can help you work out how to get him to feed better.

Lol at your stroppy moo sagpuss

conkertree · 21/04/2008 14:09

ok finally read them all - well at least back as far as my last post - dont think it'll be possible to go right back to the start of the thread, so I'm sorry if I've missed lots of important things.

marathon went fine - bit slower than we planned as my brother in law got a knee injury but was great fun going round in costume - thanks very much for the sponsorship - much appreciated.

tasha - sending you a big hug - sounds like you need someone to come and give you some advice just now rather than having to wait 4 weeks with worrying.

helibee - i dont think they do get an 8 month check in Scotland - certainly hasnt ever been mentioned at baby clinic.

as i was reading, i had lots of comments, but unless i write them down, i can never remember what i wanted to say.

james - our two los seem to be doing exactly the same things- the bouncing to music started last week and every single time he gets a carrot/corn stick, he throws it off the highchair at least 3 times to see where it lands before eating it. your dp reminds me a bit of my dh too at times - ds is not a great sleeper - think he wakes up a lot cause he's itchy, but dh's solution is always for me to go through and feed him - have told him he cant always be needing milk, and that quite often i just shush him to sleep or stroke him a bit, so dh could do it just as easily, but he goes for 3 or 4 mins then gives up. grr.

anyway apart from that, everything is great here - first day back at work, ds has been swimming with his grandparents and apparently flirted with all the females in the pool. and work not too busy so far.

hope things are good with everyone else.

My2Weegirls · 21/04/2008 14:17

great big hugs tasha. what a horrible thing to say and then just leave you wondering. hope your gp helps. my email is f m m a c k @ t a l k 2 1 . c o m if i can do anything at all to help.

my dds have had sickness and diarrhoea bugs. dd2 has had diarrhoea since last mon. had her back at gp again today - to 'starve' her for another 24hrs . he thinks the lining of her intestines is all irritated.

so i've been back at work for 2 weeks and off for 2!

helibee - am impressed with callums walking.

dd2 started clapping her hands today.

off to try and catch up with everyone elses news now.

My2Weegirls · 21/04/2008 15:32

dd2 dances too - she loves anythign that gets sung to her - but her favourite is dancing to her big sisters toy stehescope that when you press the button goes - boom bom, boom boom

her latest 'word' sounds like 'good day'.

conkertree - how's the first day going? are you missing ds? i went back 1st april - and though i miss the girls it's nice to be 'me' for a while (and have lunch, a seat, get a hot cup of coffee, go for a pee etc). though i'm finding it hard to string a proper work related sentence together. and well done on the marathon. very impressed.

helibee - something like the safari park would be good (conkertree may want to come too).

gill - do you find it easy to get back to sleep when you've been up with one of the dc's. i don't and really hate it if i'm up with one then just get back to sleep and hour later and the other one is up.

james - are you getting pressure to go and see your dad? hope you had a good weekend away.

UKI - happy belated birthday
