Forgot to add I didn't let him look at the screen at all while the film was on (in case you thought he was screaming jovially at the skinless dogs!)

Leifmum, good luck with the move. Rope in all the help you can, you don't move that often anyway!

My massage and facial was lovely. It's so nice just to lay back and relax. I think I fell asleep at one point, only for a few seconds though.

Ds apparently had pils up half the night (but they are prone to exagerration. They think he was cold. When I arrived there yesterday he was fast asleep on fil under a huge blanket. He was so sweaty.

ds is busy playing with one of dd's old vtech toys. It's one of those things with lights, music and annoying songs. He's also spinning 360 degrees round the carpet. He's quite quick at doing it too.

at your sil James. It's one thing to be doing it to get to you but totally unfair to stop James from going to sleep.

ouch leifmum. Hope your dd is ok. Babies are very robust. Fingers crossed for your move going ahead soon.

Bogwoppit · 23/03/2008 09:28

Sorry I've not been around - had a week of Easter hols, 1 more to go.

grr at the dhs. mine has got up with the older 2 the last couple of days (to play in the snow), but then moaned saying its his time off work so he wants a lay in. "err you are off work to give me a rest dearest I think & anyway I've been up at 3am & 6 am feeding ds2" plus its not my fault kids choose daddy over mummy when hes off so it looks like I'm doing nowt!

we woke to snow yesterday & today but its rapidly melting. ds1 & dd did et to build a snowman tho.

easter bunny left the older 2 a trail of little chocolate bunnies & a wee egg each. plus ben10 top trumps for ds1 & sylvanian families toy for dd & a wooden shape sorter for ds2.
My kids really aren't bothered by chocolate so I guess I'lll have to eat the 2 crunchie eggs, snickers egg & terrys orange egg that MIL bought them.

James - grr @ yr inconsiderate SIL

Gill - i'm v jealous of your pampering. one day when i've not got a boobie baby I will insist dh has kids so I can have a day of luxury!

ds1 has a friend over to sleep on Tues - should be fun.

we'd like 1 more baby I think, but not just yet. going from 2 to 3 was a v easy transition - helped by ds2 being a chilled out baby.

ds2 is trying to crawl - he commandos round & round but can't quite figure out forward yet. still no teeth, not that it stops him scoffing things - he will eat anything given to him (& not given to him if he can get away with it!)

right best go amuse the rabble. dh has gone running in the snow in preparation for the London marathon in a few weeks

lizziemun · 23/03/2008 09:53

James i think you did the right thing by not reacting to you madSIL.

Lizzie is now on holiday until the 7th April.

Had a quite day yesterday Lizzie went to legoland with her uncle, his GF and cousins yesterday and is absoluty exhusted today. A quite day today I think DVD galore i think. DH has gone to work today having to go to Bolton then Wakefield from Bedfordshire. Trying not to worry about the snow thats falling.

Lizzie already been out in the snow with daddy, but will probaly go out again later.

I hope everyone else is have a good weekend.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 23/03/2008 11:14

Snow?

Hope there no snow between here and Manchester, we're supposed to be having family visiting today. James's little cousin who is 6 months older than him is coming, it'll be interesting to see how they get along now that James is more interactive (last time we saw him James was still just a lump in a carseat iyswim) they'll probably end up battering each other!

Leifmum, must have been horrible seeing your lo bleeding, I'd have freaked - I freaked enough a few months back when I dropped a jar of babyfood on lo's head as he sat in his buggy, and there wasn't even a cut or a bump. I'm dreading his first accident.

Bogwoppit, good haul from the easter bunny! I'm all choccy'd out after scoffing half my brownie egg, blehhh. Good on you for standing your ground and getting some rest, these men take advantage if you let them!

Lizzie what does your lo think of the snow?

OP posts:
lizziemun · 23/03/2008 12:17

james

Both dd's love it, but then they both like being outside in any whether.

Had to drag dd1 backin this morning with her saying i'm not cold her face bright red and shivering .

At least dd1 has had a play outside as the snow has began to melt.

Hope your visit goes well.

DD1 has got 2 eggs, we got her book as she has just finished the chocolate she had for christmas.

helibee · 23/03/2008 22:12

GillL · 25/03/2008 11:13

Morning all. I'm sitting at my desk nursing a headache and feeling sick. I've taken some Anadin Xtra so I'm hoping it will be better soon otherwise I'm going home. I'm feeling a bit fed up at work at the moment. We keep being told (for the last year) about all these opportunities that will be coming up but we're all still stuck doing the same old jobs. Then this morning I overheard our desk manager telling my team manager to palm off as much work as she can to me Like I don't have enough to do (she says typing a msg in MN - well I'm entitled to a break ).

Anyway, the last couple of days were fairly relaxing. Dd turned 3 yesterday. I'd bought her some Fifi roller skates which she told me were rubbish after she'd fallen over. We have decided not to take her ice skating now and will be going to a zoo tomorrow. I think she'll like that much more. We also bought her a second hand climbing frame with a slide from ebay. She wasn't too impressed when we gave it to her. I think she just wanted to get indoors cos it was so cold. Later on when it had stopped she seemed to enjoy playing on it though.

It snowed here for hours yesterday but none of it settled so we couldn't make a snowman Maybe next year.

Bogwoppit - hopefully your ds2 will de-latch long enough for you to enjoy a spa day soon It's so nice to have someone do something for us for a change.

I'd like 4 children too bogwoppit. I thought going from 1 to 2 was quite easy. Dh will have to start helping out with bed times more often though. I normally do one after the other and then start the washing up etc while dh plays computer games or watches the tele. I'm thinking of trying for another one at the beginning of next year but I'll have to see what dh says. I'd quite like another 2-2.5 yr gap.

leifmum · 26/03/2008 08:57

good morning all! hope you're feeling better today Gill and hope everyone else is ok too, recovered from all the easter egg eating!!

i really shouldn't be on here but i'm putting off doing all the essential things i should be getting on with! we exchanged contracts yesterday so the final wheels are in motion. have to sort out things like council tax today. got our phone number for our new house. we're going with BT but they can't connect us until next wednesday. not too much of a problem because we have our mobiles but what about internet.......!!!! and what really surprisd me is they can't connect internet the same time as phone. that has to be done 6 days later? wtf?????? so i will be missing in action for a couple of weeks!!

think i'm going to invest in some sort of walker for dd. would prefer to get her one she just pushes BUT the idea of her being confined in something is also quite appealing at the moment!

sorry this is all me, me, me. it's not intentional, my mind's just so busy it's kind of seized up.

anyway hope everyone is ok and has a good couple of weeks and i'll see you soon xxx

Hersetta · 26/03/2008 09:27

Hello all,

Caitlin and i have just come back from 4 days in Spain(as DH had to work over Easter)and we escaped the sleet and snow. Was beautiful weather at my mums - usually between 22-24 degrees so nice T shirt weather. Even caught a bit of sun when we stopped at a beach cafe for lunch and a couple of drinks - problem is only my left side was in the sun. My right side is still lily white!

Caitlin was a little angel on the plane both ways - she was playing with a lady in my row and the lady was letting her bang on the cover of her harry potter book when she suddenly leaned over and was sick literally all over the cover. Cue hasty apologies and frantic mopping with a muslin. She was very nice though and even gave Cait some of her Tortilla wrap later on when she started scrounging.

On the way home a lady in the seat accross the aisle took a shine to Caitlin and chatted away to her causing Cait to beam away at her constantly. She said she would be happy to hold Cait if I needed to pop to the loo. When i said I had gone before I got onboard she said it was just as excuse to get to hold the baby. So Caitlin was passed accross to her and played happily with her for 10 minutes or so and jumped up and down on her lap like a mad thing. Gave me a chance to have a drink though without Cait trying to take gulps from my cup.

Gill - very jealous of your head massage. i'd love one as i get all gooey at the hairdresser when they massage the conditioner in!

Thanks helibee - I know I'm biased though.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 26/03/2008 22:18

Hi, just a quick one to resurrect the thread, J isn't 100% he has sickness and diarrhea (although only been sick once so far, buckets of it) I've not given him his bedtime feed, gave him 100ml of dioralyte instead, so tonight will probably be fun...

Hope everyone's ok! x

OP posts:
My2Weegirls · 27/03/2008 09:29

hi all - been very quiet here recently.

i've got a full day to myself - both DDs are at childminders. so i'm not going to waste the day away on MN .

jmaes - hope he's ok, we had an exorcist moment last night when we gave dd2 some calcold. think it went down the wrong way and it and her dinner cetainly came back up the wrong way. all over dp

leifmum - hope the move is going to go really well.

hesetta - it's lovely when others take a big interest in your wee one. enjoy it while it lasts - once they hit the terrible 2's everyone disappears

gill - you shoudl really get yourslf back to the Dr about these headaches! i've just been prescribed migraleve for mine - so will see if that works....

right off to - spend 10min cleaning each room of the house (will still be a tip though), get hair cut, go shopping for food, shopping for smart clothes for work next week and hopefully have a wee it of time left to sit and vegetate!

GillL · 27/03/2008 09:58

Hello. I'm off work today. My headache has been gradually getting worse. I woke at 5:30 with my head pounding so I took some Anadin but it didn't help so dh had to get up with the kids and take them to mum's. Fortunately he's off work this week. I'm actually quite glad he's gone out. We bought dd a Dora the Explorer trampoline with her birthday money and he was getting more and more wound up trying to get the elasticated cord threaded through. He thinks there's no way it will fit and it might have to go back to the shop tomorrow Surely they got people to test setting it up at home before putting it on sale. Dad's going to come round tomorrow to help.

Dd enjoyed her day at the zoo yesterday and was quite well behaved. She loved seeing all the animals. She said her favourite animal was the sheep though so we decided we needn't have spent £30 on admission and should have taken her to the nearest field. She would have been just as happy We even got away with getting her in for free. Even though she's just turned 3 they didn't bat an eyelid when we asked for 2 adults and an under 3.

leifmum - hope the move goes well. Let us know what walker you get and what it's like. Dd had one when she had just started walking but even on carpet I found it moved too quickly for her or tipped over if she put too much weight on the front. I have a feeling that ds won't need one for quite some time though.

James - hope James is better soon. It's so awful when there's nothing you can do to help them other than cuddle (although that does go a long way). Hope last night wasn't too stressful.

I agree I really should go to the doctors My2Weegirls. I think the problem though is busy lifestyle, stress at work and not getting enough sleep. Hope you have a lovely day.

My2Weegirls · 27/03/2008 10:11

make an appt!

and DP had the same problem trying to fit the elastic on dd1's trampoline. it took the 2 of us to do it. the secret is to keep it really stretched right from the beginning and to wear gloves so you don't get friction burns.

My2Weegirls · 27/03/2008 10:11

i'm not getting on very well with doing my housework

GillL · 27/03/2008 10:22

Thanks. How did you get the cloth to sit in the middle once you'd connected the two ends of the elastic?

Dh said he was going to do the washing up today. I don't hold out much hope though. I'll probably end up doing it myself. I try and do it myself every day but it doesn't always happen. Dh would be quite content to leave it all til the weekend and then moan constantly that we were running out of plates etc.

My2Weegirls · 27/03/2008 10:32

err - we didin't to start with, then once they start bouncing on it, it just seems to even itself out properly.

i'm lucky that i've got a dish washer - but then it either sits empty with all the dishes on the worktops or neither of us empties it once it's clean

lizziemun · 27/03/2008 11:23

Leifman Hope the move goes well.

My2weegirls

I'm on strike today. Lizzie on easter holiday until the 7th April, (d)h is realy tired as he is realy busy at work. WELL GO TO BED BLOODY EARLIER THEN 2AM opp sorry for shouting.

I told him he didn't know what tired was try living my life getting up at 6am and then be on the go until 7pm when both dds are in bed and then be kept awake all night because of your

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 27/03/2008 11:37

Morning folks

Oh don't talk abou washing up, I have everything in the house to wash up. AGAIN. Everytime I wash it all up I swear it'll be the last time, and I'll keep on top of it. Then I veg out, dinner happens and I think "but I spent an hour washing up earlier!"

Gill, my dp also says "I'll wash up later" and then you have the dilemma: if you leave it for him to do, it just won't get done. If you do it, they've wriggled out of it again. I would LOVE a dishwasher. We have no room for one now but hopefully the next house...

James seems a lot better this morning. I had to give him his bottle after all last night as he woke up ravenous at 1am. He kept it down no problem, and actually stayed in bed til 10am (woke up for a little play and a sing at 8am-ish, but went back asleep on his front- unheard of!) so gave him his usual morning bottle when we got up and he's kept that down too. No pooey nappy yet so don't know if his diarrhea has gone. He's had such a sore bum with it all, poor little sod.

Gill you poor thing, you really need to get your head seen to, so to speak!!! Do over the counter migraine meds work on it? Hope you're feeling better soon, get lots of rest, lie down in the dark if you can, and drink plenty of fluids. Ooh, lying down in a dark room alone

I've had loads of jaw pain recently, I thought it must be because of stress, grinding my teeth or clenching my jaw or something, but I now suspect my upper right wisdom tooth. All I need! Yet another sodding bad tooth!

Hey, we may have progress on the talking front. James was in bed this morning quietly going "buh...puh...buh...puh" I'm hopeful it'll be the start of some attempts at talking!

Helibee, how's Callum now? Hope he's better. Best of luck with the move, leifmum, hope it all goes smoothly. Hersetta glad the weather was nice in Spain for you, did Caitlin like the beach? My2weegirls I think I shall try to follow your good example today and spend 10 mins on every room, plus the (ugh) washing up.

OP posts:
JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 27/03/2008 11:41

They just don't get it, do they? Glad you're on strike, it'll make him appreciate what you do. Chin up.

OP posts:
Hersetta · 27/03/2008 11:50

Glad james is feeling better - and good progress on the talking front.

Although she seen the beach we haven't actually sat on it yet - she's more facinated by water and gets very excited when she sees my Mum's swimming pool - far too cold to go in yet though!

I hate washing up too - almost as much as I hate ironing! Doing the daily bottle washing is getting to me so I make a big sigh and say, got to go and wash the bottles and usually my DH will offer to do them. We've got a dishwasher but we still have loads of washing up to do now with the baby - all her bottles, plus food pots, beakers etc that we need on a daily basis as the dishwasher usually only gets filled up and run every two or three days.

Going out on a work leaving do so leaving Cait with DH. He's getting much better with her - even manages to bath her without flooding the kitchen floor!

lizziemun · 27/03/2008 12:25

Thanks for the tea james, I'm glad Jeames is feeling better.

Hersetta you can wash babies bottles in the top shelf of the dishwasher.

Just don't put them in when you have tomato based dinners as the bottle tops and ring go orange .

Hersetta · 27/03/2008 12:54

lizzie - I know, but DH insists we only run the dishwasher when it's full up so we don't put it on every day, but I need the bottles cleaned daily so it's handwashing for them.

Already learned about orange rims and teats - they look horrid don't they? I have discovered though that a soak in a bowl with a milton tablet got them back to normal colour.

My2Weegirls · 27/03/2008 13:41

lizzie - i just can't tidy with dd1 around - she just pulls out everything i've just put away.

just had my hair cut and i don't like it - argggh. maybe once i dry it myself i'll like it a bit better

james - so far i have spent 5 min int he living room and 5 min in the kitchen . and just found a crap film on bbc2 that says it's filmed in the western highlands - so i'm watching it tyring to figure out where it is (any excuse)

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 27/03/2008 14:38
