Tasha you should go to your appointment, it's really important. You need to give them a chance to help you, you'll kick yourself if you don't.

Too tired to type now, hope everyone had a lovly day xxx

I did get back to bed leifmum but I couldn't get back to sleep so I went dowstairs and did Davina's power of 3 workout. It's an hour long and I was knackered. I feel really stiff this morning. Doesn't help being sat at a desk all day.

leifmum - About 5 years ago I had to take a demotion and pay cut (either that or be made redundant) but I still kept the same grade and contract. Also, when I went back to work after having dd I reduced my hours and they reduced my pay. I'm exactly the same grade doing the same job. I'd be interested to know what they say on your thread on employment.

Glad your dh redeemed himself yesterday James. My dh wouldn't think about taking change bag/food etc for ds either. It's a good job (for ds's sake) that he never takes him anywhere on his own.

How is your dh today kinki?

Hope Lexie is better today lizziemun.

Hi knickers. Ds's nappies are almost all dirty these days. They smell terrible too. Hope your dd has a nap soon so you can go back to bed.

Hi all,

been absent getting all my time in with Caitlin as I am today, shock horror, back at work !!!!!!!!!

Feels strangely familiar - same old trains and tubes and it doesn't feel like i've been gone for more than a fortnight. DD is with my in laws as typically our childminder is on holiday this week and then DH has her for the rest of the week. So far i've called twice to check on her which i think is quite restrained.

Caitlin is getting on well - now grown to the 91st centile but isn't chubby at all as she is really very tall. loves her grub but has a habit of scrounging like a dog when she sees people eat. Was really embarrassing on the plane coming home from Spain last week as she was making grabs for the lady in the seat next door's sandwich. We haven't done too much finger food yet, just rusks, dried fruit, cucumber, pear and stawberry and a chocolate finger biscuit (bad mummy - but she loved it!). Will have to get some bread in and try some cheese on toast as she loves cheese. Don't often have it in the house usually as i am wheat intollerent.

Any other tips for good finger foods?

shrinkingsagpuss · 03/03/2008 13:34

Hi guys, dropping in, in the midst of dust and paint brushes etc...

can't even begin to ctch up.

My mothers day gft was that saturday night, Evie had her first night in her own bedroom!! HURRAH!! And, last night she went through with no feed. BLIS. Long may it continue.

I've no idea what she weighs, but she loves food. Not getting to grips with feeding herself yet, takes a lick or a suck, and then throws it as far as it will go across the kitchen

..still doesn't roll, but can sit up unsupported, providing she doesn't try to reach for something. (wierd huh?)

SO the building work has finnished, Billy moves in as soon as we can get his bed built, and curtains that fit his window (got some great ones off ebay last night, Thomas the Tank Engine hurrah)

I'm meeting with HR this friday to discuss going back to work, hope its productive, HR are not usually my favourite people.

the meet up was lovely - don't laugh, but I took a picture of Gilll and Alex, but forgot to take one of Pink and Tate, and didn't get one taken of me and Evie.... durrrrrr. Looking forward to maybe planning a picnic in the summer? big kids could play football etc while the babes eat the grass, worms, daisies etc....

Hersetta · 03/03/2008 14:26

bagpuss, my LO is the same. She shows no real inclination to roll over but will quite happily sit up and plays with her toys. She does tend to topple over when she tried to turn her headbehind her though so have to have conviniently placed pillows around her.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 03/03/2008 14:31

Hersetta, Sagpuss, lovely to hear from you guys, sounds like it's all go! Glad to hear the babies are doing well.

Well, today I gave lo half a toasted pitta stuffed with reduced sugar and salt baked beans mashed with a boiled egg yolk. I don't recommend it. He sank his fingers into the filling, then rubbed handfuls of it into his open eyes (he's not the brightest crayon in the box when it comes to this kind of thing, bless him) then cried, understandably. I don't understand why he has to rub everything into his eyes these days. BLW is difficult enough without having to think of eye-friendly foods!

We are going one step beyond baby led weaning now by the way... we are into the realm of Baby Led Cleaning! He hates having his face washed now, and I have to admit that I get so fed up of the shrieking I usually end up leaving him with a porridge goatee til after the next, usually more messy meal. But then yesterday I was dangling a warm flannel in front of his face before giving him his wash and he suddenly grabbed the flannel and rubbed it all over his face, chewing it etc. I left him to it, and a few minutes later, his face and hands were almost totally clean! Sooo much more peaceful and civilised, definitely preferable to trying to wash him normally.

Makes me wonder what other drudgery activities we could let the babies do themselves... baby led changing? (BLC) baby led bathing? (BLB) baby led put-your-own-bleedin-dummy-back-in-at-night? (BLPYOBDBIAN)

Hi Hersetta. Good to hear from you. Glad Caitlin is doing well. It's mad to think I've been back at work for just over 3 months. Within a week or so it was like I never left. Are you part time or full time?

Hi sagpuss. Picnic sounds lovely. I can't wait to get the kids out in the garden. Hopefully ds will be sitting up by the time it's warm enough. Good luck with HR.

James - BLC sounds messy but BLPYOBDBIAN would be great

Hersetta · 03/03/2008 15:19

Hi Gill. back full time I'm afraid. Not sure part time would be any easier for me so decided to go back full time and get my brain back in gear all the time.

GillL · 03/03/2008 15:29

I'm full time too. I couldn't do this job part time. I'd spend so much time catching up from my days off that it just wouldn't be worth it and I can't afford to take a pay cut. Dh is supposed to be moving into a position in a different team soon and his salary should be increased. If it is then that will give me more freedom to get a part time job in another company for less money if necessary.

Are you missing Caitlin loads? Dd makes me feel guilty all the time for leaving her at my mum's. She often asks if I'm going to stay with her today. She's fine when I go though cos she gets to spend all day with her cousin. And she complains when I tell her we have to go home. Sometimes I have to drag her out kicking and screaming - literally!

Hersetta · 03/03/2008 15:58

Basically the same here Gill. My brain is so mushy at the moment that if I returned part time it would take me all my time to get back to where I was when I was last in the office.

i am missing her although i have left her for a day before so not too bad at the moment. I think the end of the week will be worse as it starts to sink in that this is an everyday situation.

helibee · 03/03/2008 18:37

hi all, sorry about the not so good mothers days, i was just a little upset that my cards said 'mum' rather than mummy but hey it's just me being silly.

James, Callum pretty much eats similar stuff to James but much less, he just likes nibbles. Unfortunately i have a grazer on my hads-he's the same with milk too, so don't know when he'll give up the night feed, although dh does that one!

Knickers-so sorry about the sickness, i had hyperemesis with Callum so I really do sympathise with you, big hugs x x x

My2weegirls-i am def glad to be home and although i'm still on the mega strong painkillers I am feeling a little better.

kinki-hope your dh gets better soon.

hi to anyone new x x x

helibee · 03/03/2008 18:49

hi lollipop, sorry i couldn't remember your name earlier, brain fog! well hello anyway x x x

leifmum · 03/03/2008 18:53

hi everyone! hope you've all had good days!

tasha, did you go to your apointment. if you did i hope it went ok x

hersetta - well done on getting back to work! hope the day wasn't too stressful for you. i've done a few keeping in touch days and it's actually been nice but don't know if i'd feel the same about full time!

gill-i spoke to one of my managers today and they are going to offer me what i thought so i'll be doing keeper for a day one day a week then studbook work the other day. it's not been comfirmed yet but he has a meeting tomorrow with curatrs so it looks like it will go ahead. didn't realise that of course i'll lose my weekend enhancement pay so i've asked them to say exactly what i'll earn before i commit myself. the reply i got on the employment thread confirmed what i thought. they don't have to offer me anything and as they're kind of creating a new role for me they can offer whatever they want. then just up to me to accept it or not. i'll give it a go and see how it pans out.

james-i would love it if dd learnt to change her own nappies. her pooey ones absolutely stink at the moment! got a new load of nappies delivered today so can use reusables all the time now. still not had the guts to try them overnight. it's the thought of the turd mountain that more often than not greets me in the morning that puts me off. it's so much nicer that time of day to just fold it all up and put it in the bin!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 03/03/2008 19:11

I thin you're brave to use reusables at all frankly. I had all good intentions of using them but could never afford to buy them all at once, then the rivers of newborn poo ten times a day put me off, and now he's doing solid, regular offerings I should at least be contemplating using them but I just dread adding to my constant mountain of washing. I've done four loads today, and it's still huge, it wasn't this bad before weaning but he just pulls his bib aside and smears everything with food these days. Including his socks.

helibee · 03/03/2008 19:16

leifmum-i hope all your work issues get sorted, i was just looking at pics of your wee one on line, she's beautiful.

i'm trying to upload more recent pics of Callum but without much success so far!

helibee · 03/03/2008 19:20

James, Callum is exactly the same-i don't usually get him dressed till he's eaten his lunch, it's one less outfit to wash!! or maybe i'm just lazy

helibee · 03/03/2008 19:50

hi tasha, did you go today? hope you're ok-was thinking of you, big hugs and kisses to you x x x

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 03/03/2008 20:39

helibee, I'm at the point of not washing his clothes until they have at least have some food or a bodily fluid of some description on them. I simply don't have the time or money to be washing virtually clean clothes every day, that's why I got so behind on my washing in the first place. I plan on throwing most of this stages clothes away, they're all ruined as non-bio doesn't get ANYTHING out. Hmm, or I could just tie dye everything orange.

lo is lying beside me watching top gear. I've played with him, bathed him, dressed him, fed him, and I'm tired. I figure what he wants to do from here on out is his business.

Tasha, what did you do in the end? did you go? was it ok?

Hello everyone - not been able to do much more than have a bit of a skim read of last page. Used to do my MNing when bfing ds2 but have finally got around to weaning him and he seems to think he's too big for milk now! I really wish I'd left it longer with the the other dc now as it has been a complete breeze. Started off doing blw but for speed in mornings (to get to school) have been spoon feeding weetabix and porridge. Although he has been having orange segments and toast while I run around sorting everyone else out! So I spose I'm not really doing blw just mainly fingerfoods with the odd yogurt and spoon feed.

Hello to the new people.

Mother's day in our house was just another day! Although I did cook quite a nice tea and had a glass of wine! dd made me a book mark at school (which was lovely) and kept asking me if I was going to take my lunch upstairs (think she got mixed up with breakfast in bed!)

Leifmum - we got some really good stuff from halfords for our pram tyres. You put in through the valve and when you get a puncture it keeps it sealed from the inside - link is here - complete pain isn't it!

Kinki - hope things have worked out for you and your dh

Lollypop - congratulations - making me all broody already (note to self stop it stop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop itstop it!)

Banana - [nagging mum icon] - haven't you had a few close calls? My bet is you will be the next to desert (or is it dessert - never know!) this thread for a shiny new baby thread! I know it won't be me DH has to do more than text me for that!

Well better go - have made up for not being on for a while!

Knickers

Lexie goes to bed about 6.30pm and sleeps through untill 6.30am. She is too tired to be up any longer.

Took Lexie to the doctors yesterday and she has a bad cold and chest infection .

Tasha I hope your appointment went well yesterday.
