OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
StealthPolarBear · 27/02/2008 16:50

yes tht's right, sorry, i was blocking that out of my mind cos of the colour
you're right though - it'll prob pay for itself in points!
off to have another look & convince myself...

StealthPolarBear · 27/02/2008 16:52

you're right, its really not that bad!
thanks, might actually have a voucher for another 500 points!

geordiemacminx · 27/02/2008 17:00

SPB - I would get it from the pram centre for you if you wanted?

If you decide to get it from boots, then go onto hotukdeals.com as they always have loads of codes for 1000 extra bonus points and such like

NorthernLurker · 27/02/2008 17:01

oooh! I love Boots points

I do really like the colour - bit more cheerful than black and it won't show the biscuit crumbs so much

StealthPolarBear · 27/02/2008 17:20

I was just thinking that even with all the extra points the GPC will probably be cheaper. I'd need £35 worth of points. And I'd get the colour I want - sorry NL, but I can't agree with you there! I could live with it but would prefer something a litle less bright
Thanks GMM that's really kind of you, but I've looked on their website and it's actually free delivery over £49 . So that's looking hopeful.
That said, do you fancy meeting up next time you're down here? If you have time of course, I know these things can sometimes be a bit of a rush!

StealthPolarBear · 27/02/2008 17:21

I have to say I'm a sucker for points, as I've just demonstrated I'd tend to go for points over genuinely lower prices

geordiemacminx · 27/02/2008 17:23

The thing is the GPC do a lot of offers in store that you ont get online - we got the Maxi cosi tobi for £95... £50 cheaper than theire website - I could go and suss out the price of the one that you are after, if its a lot cheaper than online I could send it to you? Couriers arent that expensive are they? I could have brought it but i'M NOT DOWN TIL EASTER AND DP IS COMING TOO SO THERE WOULD BE NO ROOM FOR IT - UNLESS shit caps unless we left C at home

geordiemacminx · 27/02/2008 17:26

We are thinking of going to either Whitehouse or Hall Hill farm next time we are down with the grannies bu you are all more than welcome to join us

oooggs · 27/02/2008 17:28

sending katy loads of sleepy vibes and T too , bet my good night was a one off!

back later with next saga of wedding!!!!!!

elkiedee · 27/02/2008 17:28

PMSL at snot discussion, is that going into the next thread title? I don't suppose we'll be allowed to use the phrase "the man on the sofa".

SPB, congratulations on the flexi working - what will your pattern be?

Dragged dp along to Splash! baby swimming session this morning as he didn't start work until 1.30 pm today, it took some work and we had to buy some swimming shorts from the pool but I wanted him to have a go at doing a parent and baby activity with D, and both of the other dads I've seen there most weeks were there today, so all went well.

Two possible lunchtime meetups fell through but my dad's come round and they've finished building the new playground in our local park Most of it's for older kids but D was put on the slide and caught at the bottom a few times, and there's a seating thing which doubles as an interesting structure for babies who are desperate to learn to walk but can't actually reliably stand up. Matting on one side and grass on the other so nice soft surfaces for D to fall on and lots for him to touch and look at.

elkiedee · 27/02/2008 17:33

Today's Woman's Hour had more by the way on PND and women's feelings after they've had babies, and it was up earlier this afternoon. What I listened to above D sounded worth the time and I hope to get to hear it properly if I can settle D to sleep tonight.

NorthernLurker · 27/02/2008 17:33

that park sounds lovely Elkie - am v

elkiedee · 27/02/2008 17:34

good luck with bedtime oooggs

StealthPolarBear · 27/02/2008 17:36

oh right GMM - it's already much cheaper than everywhere else, I didn't realise it would be even cheaper in store. If you are going anyway then please do let me know how much either the black one or the penguin coloured one is. How selfish of you not to consider leaving C so you can bring me my car seat though. Do you really need him?
I'll see if I can figure out the weight and measurements and get an idea of courier costs. Thank you!
that park sounds lovely elkie! will have to take t back to ours - on;y been once!

Idreamofchocolate · 27/02/2008 18:21

NL - the lentil/squash thing is very basic, but S seems to like it...

Peel, de-seed and chop a butternut squash into big chunks. Drizzle with olive oil and roast until it is soft and caramelised. Mash it to desired consistency. (Nb. also delicious stirred into a risotto, with a few shreaded sage leaves and lots of parmesan thrown in, but I digress).

For the lentils I finely chop an onion and gently soften in some butter/oil. Add some crushed garlic, stir in puy lentils and cover with water / stock (any maybe some white wine out of that large glass you're drinking at the time). Cook until soft, and then stir into the cooked butternut squash.

Voila! See, told you it was basic. I find lentils can be a bit bland (but v good for you) and the squash is so tasty it detracts from the blandness of the lentils.

NorthernLurker · 27/02/2008 18:29

sounds good - will be trying that! Tonight she had beef stew mixed with mashed sweet potato, mashed squash and courgette puree. I was feeling a bit reckless and just deforsted a load of different cubes She ate the lot so the mixture obviously a success.

mammyjo · 27/02/2008 18:57

I am so

Ds is having a mothers day assembly in school on Friday morning when I am in work. Originally I thought my mum could go. He adores grandma, and so I thought that she would be an ample mummy substitute. How wrong I was. When I told ds he burst into tears and told me that it wasn't a grandma's concert, it was a mummy's concert, and that I had to go. I have tried everything at work to get a couple of hours off. My mate had tried to see if she could work the hours for me, but she can't get child care So now I have to tell ds that I really won't be going I have been bawling

Am actually very with work too, as I always end up working late, and will swap my days at the drop of a hat, but sadly these things count for nothing.

mammyjo · 27/02/2008 18:58

Sorry, that is such a miserable post, I just feel so sad and pissed off.

NorthernLurker · 27/02/2008 19:04

mammyjo - that is so hard for you. I'm very cross with school actually - you won't be the only wohm feelinng like crap because of this!

Ok - call in sick? If I was your manager I would know damn well what had happened but I would also think that served me right for not making it happen for you. Actually - if I was your manager I would make it happen because I'm lovely and a mummy too but I digress.
The other thing I can think of is - do you have a friend who could video it and you and ds can watch it after school with much zooming in on him, chocolate and cuddles?

Idreamofchocolate · 27/02/2008 19:22

Mammyjo, I would just go. Really. Em has a school lunch next week and I will just leave work, go to the lunch, and then go back to work later. Mind you, my boss is completely wonderful and thinks things like that are terribly important. I am very lucky indeed. I am and for you.

Sexonlegs · 27/02/2008 19:33

A*holes is all I can say to work MJ. How mean of them, esp as you bend over backwards for them. Huge hugs to you.

IDOC, that squash/lentil stew sounds yummy. May have to look at that. I assume you can freeze portions of it?

Are all the babies asleep????

All ok here. K has been so whingy though. I think it must be teeth on top of everything else. Not used to her being whingy! She is so skinny - her 9-12 month trousers are hanging off her poor lamb.

How is everyone else??

CaptainDippy · 27/02/2008 19:48

Oh MJ and Pooey to your nasty boss!! Yes, just go anyway or IDOC's idea of the video is lovely too I would have your friend's children so she could work the hours for you; but I am too far away Perhaps you could send them by courier!!?

runnyhabbit · 27/02/2008 19:53

mj Can you just go? Do your bosses know that you tried to get the time off? (if they don't, then maybe a sickie is in order, or drs appt?)And what would really be the worst thing that could happen if you went in late?

runnyhabbit · 27/02/2008 19:55

How many days do J have to be dry for before I can officailly say he's toilet trained?

oooggs · 27/02/2008 19:55

bollocks mammyjo - that is horrid poor ds I am so cross

like Dippy said - sometimes it would be easier if we all lived closer so we could help each other out in times like this

well I went out with my mum this afternoon and she came back for tea - think she was too scared to mention the wedding

whereas dh saw my dad today who told him that after my outburst on the phone, my dad called my brother and gave him a talking to. Told him that his email was insensitive and that was he trying to allienate his niece and nephews - well did my brother really think they would agree with him on not inviting their grandchildren - something my brother isn't going to provide married to her who has just been sterlised?

he'll learn
