Oooops no room to link to old thread!

Lol at AQ forgetting that she is pg Sure the madness will pass. And don't worry about my chocolate supply, I live round the corner from Tesco

Jabber I think you should pop ds in the post and I'll sned him on holiday with all my clibing friends, they do similarly dangerous stunts on a larger scale. He'd have a ball

Well done on getting into the school Jabber. I should bloody well think so too. You sound like super woman!

FGS, ((hugs)) re your knee and well done on getting your school of choice too. I remember it being quite a nerve wracking time ... 2 years ago now. Blimey

Good luck with scan Sacha. AQ, hope you are coping with tiredness. Making me feel a bit broody here. Not that I shall be doing anything about it!!

All these sickly LOs I hope you get better soon. I've got a middle ear infection and have completely lost my balance I was scratching my head thinking it was my eye sight or something worse. Quite a relief to know it's just that!

We've all got the hacking cough. When does it end ...?

We are going away today to one of those Luxury Hotels that mumsnet discount, for the weekend. I'll let you know how we get on. This is for my birthday that I didn't have. There is more to come, apparently

Elibean · 08/03/2008 12:06

Spent most of night (till 4 am) in A&E with dd2, who suddenly got a fever and threw up from coughing too hard, then shook and cried for an hour. dh rang NHS direct who said to go straight in, cue dh and me, holding dd2, trying to find pants, jeans and sweaters in whispered panic. Luckily dd1's godmother lives nearby and was a star - there was no way we could take dd2 in to hospital with no one in the back of the car with her.

A&E said she had pinprick rash that didnt' fade (I would have missed it, looked like teeny occasional freckles, nearly nothing) and temp was now nearly 40 so poor dd had canula stuck in back of hand (took 3 goes and dh thought he was going to punch the doctor, he was so upset), blood tests, and IV antibiotics but was eventually allowed home on grounds that once she'd calmed down, she was playing and smiling....we have to go back tonight at 10pm for second dose and evaluation.

Today is just hard work on v v little sleep - nothing new there, as we all know - but the night was scary, upsetting, and relieving by turn and I soo needed to tell someone! Someone who wouldn't have a fit (my mum) or somehow make it my fault...I nearly turned the computer on at 4.30 am once dd was settled, but saw the light and grabbed 2 hours sleep on her floor

Phew, feel a bit better now. Kids, eh?!

Hope all having a nice weekend, esp Castles in lap of luxury hotel (hopefully not too dizzy)

magnolia74 · 08/03/2008 12:13

Oh Eli Poor dd, I hate hospitals when its the kids. I have to let Dh do all the holding when they do bllod tests ect... I just can't do it
Hope she is feeling better and you are not to frazzled by it all xxx

Castles, have a lovely time Is it wise to do weekends away when you are feeling broody

I bought ds1's 1st pair of shoes yesterday. He is a 4.5 H!!!!!! Only one pair of shoes in his size and width and they were £32 His feet are so wide he can't fit into anything else and Welly Boots have got to be a 5 or 6!!

accessorizequeen · 08/03/2008 19:42

Oh, Eli! that sounds really horrible, what a dreadful night for you and dh. I think my dp would have been the same, seeing his little one in pain. Poor little dd2, and so lucky there was someone to be around for dd1. I do hope all the health issues end for her soon. Hugs!!!

FunkyGoldStar · 08/03/2008 20:26

Eli - that sounds terrifying. Hope she is a bit better now.

My DDs shoe size was 3G !!! at 4.5

babypowder · 08/03/2008 20:34

Oh, Eli - how terrifying. Hope everything's as it should be, and that your visit tonight is over and done with quickly.

DD2 still not walking ...

Elibean · 09/03/2008 00:33

babypowder, dd2 isn't walking either

And she still has her Venflow/n?? thing in for another 24h hours minimum...thanks so much for the sympathy, its very nice to come home to at 12.30am after A&E! Telling you about it all helps me let go before attempting some sleep. Another dose of strong ABs in her little body, she had no fever today and the rash has faded...but she still has a hacking cough, and threw up all over C&W carpark I think the vomiting was from being super-phlegmy and coughing, after a car ride at 10pm....but who knows. We haven't got blood cultures back yet so we have to go back again for more ABs tomorrow nights (2 hours tonight, it was packed, kids screaming 'ow ow ow' like banshees - or dd2 yesterday - in all the cubicles ) but hopefully it'll be the last visit. EVER

dd is VERY pissed off she can't crawl with her hand bandaged. Good sign, methinks. She's been a total star, sitting still watching Nemo in the waiting room hooked up to an IV...waving goodbye and 'tank you' to the nurse...I think she's enjoying the dd1-free attention...

jabberwocky · 09/03/2008 03:23

It sounds like her spirits are good so that has to be a good sign. I'm sure she would love to not ever see a hospital again, too, poor little thing.

castles, very of your weekend! Hope you're having a marvelous time

FunkyGoldStar · 09/03/2008 03:40

Slight bout of insomnia here.

Aw, Eli. It sounds really hard. Get well soon vibes coming your way.

DD2 has been ill with coughs and colds and post vaccine illness for so long. She had a healthy 2 weeks and that was when she started walking. It seemed to be the first time in ages she didnt want o be held by me all the time. Touch wood we seems to have come through the seperation anxiety phase.

DD1 had her birthday party yesterday which was 8 kids and 2 toddlers in my house . All went well except for 1 bumpt to a boys head which I didnt see until his mum collected him . She got a superhero outfit and wore it yesterday and wants to wear it again today when we go to Grandmas.

babypowder · 09/03/2008 22:22

Eli, hope everything's OK.

FGS, hope you caught up on your sleep

Batten down the hatches, all. Hope you all get through the storms safely.

Elibean · 09/03/2008 23:16

Happy birthday, FGS's dd1 (you're a brave woman, FGS, glad it went well!)

dd2 had dreadful runs all day, couldn't eat, and looked pale and exhausted - still with hacking cough, but no fever. Most of that is down to the antibiotics...which it now seems were probably unnecessary, though obviously the right thing to do given the rash/fever. Bloods so far are ok, culture back tomorrow, third and final ABs given tonight and line out: dd threw up in spectacular fashion (experienced nurse heard her coughing and caught most of it very impressively in sick bowl just in time) then laughed all the way home for the joy of having her hand back...

She's likely to have awful runs for 48 hours, but unless they phone with bad news from the bloods tomorrow, thats it.

I'm going to fall exhausted into bed now...dd1 is turning into a handful with the upset of us going out every evening, and dd2 getting extra attention, its been a full-on day.

Thanks for the well wishes, and for being there

Elibean · 09/03/2008 23:17

Meant to say, FGS, also glad your little dd is ok again...and re the walking!

accessorizequeen · 10/03/2008 11:08

Awww, hugs Eli! Hope no further bad news.

where oh where is olihan?

so how many non-walkers now, Eli, me and bp. I'm just willing him to stand up now and again, I've done my back in twice lately as he's eating like a bloomin' horse! I do think illness plays a part, ds2 only started standing up after a couple of weeks off coughs/colds (not that he's ever really ill).

Anyone else finding 4yo mentally challenging? The questions! Wants to know all about science, maths, speaking French everything all at once. He's gorgeous but some days I can barely manage to read a book.

How was the holiday, Castles? I'd love one of those places for a weekend! Photos were lovely btw, nice to see A growing up to look just like her brother & sister!

Indith · 10/03/2008 13:06

Gosh Eli, very glad that everything is ok.

Ds is another non walker though I seem to spend most of my time being taken for walks by him as he loves to potter around holding onto me or cruising the furniture. He has had a growth spurt and can now siton hit truck, feet on the floor and zoom around the room. Took it to MIL's wedding on Saturday and he had a great time racing around the hall!

This morning we booked our wedding! 29th August

Just a few million essays and exams left top do before then.

DP has taken the day off work again to let me study (and I have been, honest guv) and has just taken ds to the baby clinic to get jabbed, not sure which ones today, he is behind on them so don't think we are at MMR stage yet

OP posts:
bebespain · 10/03/2008 14:00

Congrats on booking your wedding Indith - not long now eh!?

Sad to hear there are so many poorly LOs but hopefully they are all on the mend by now...

Sorry to hear about your awful time Eli, must have been terrible for all of you - here´s to healthier times

Things pretty quiet on our front - we are enjoying many more sleep-filled nights since DS started walking properly. All that fresh air and wandering is helping loads towards our quest for the illusive unbroken nights´sleep - there is hope after all!!

Got MMR jab booked for 24th March - why am I so nervous about it...??? (tells self to get a grip!!)

Best wishes to all for a lovely Easter time and please all you ladies feel free to eat extra Cadburys Mini Eggs on my behalf

Indith · 10/03/2008 14:08

Yum mini eggs

Boys are back, ds survived jabs. MMR in a month. Hugs for Bebespain, sure it will be fine

By the way, since we have you Bebe, can you answer a question for me? Dark chocolate hobnobs were the best biscuit in the world but McVities stopped doing them a couple of years ago. However, I remember from when I was studying in Spain (in Alcala de Henares) that you could still get mini ones in Spain. Can't remember who makes them, is it fontana or someone who does McVities in Spain? They had all the normal McVities digestives and hobnobs etc and they did little tubs of mini dark chocolate hobnobs. The Carrefour in Alcala sold them

Just curious really, and craving them even though the last proper ones I ate was Christmas 2005 in Russia when my mum sent me a care package and then the mini ones in Spain so I guess June 2006!

OP posts:
bebespain · 10/03/2008 15:09

Could that be Fontaneda Indith...? Got me thinking now, I have seen mini-somethings in a blue tub, not sure if they´re hobnobs but will def check it out.....mission time me thinks....

Alcala de Henares eh!? Fancy that! That´s the next town on from us, we are in Torrejon de Ardoz, it may ring a bell... although I doubt you would have had much reason to visit, there´s bugger all here!
I love Alcala

Big thanks for the hugs

Will get back to you on the hobnobs....

Indith · 10/03/2008 16:10

I worked in Torrejon! For a language school just off the main square run by a lady called Purificacion Rincon.

Fontaneda sounds better, I knew is was close to fontana!

OP posts:
Elibean · 10/03/2008 18:01

Indith, you and I should go on a chocolate eating expedition one day, you talk about it almost as much as me (whispers: though you did mention craving...you're not, are you...?!?) And congrats on the date being set, v exciting!

Bebespain, I felt the same with MMR....and it was fine, of course, but I know I'd feel the same if I had a third. Hugs and hobnobs for the occasion xx

Oli is in Singapore, lucky thing

AQ, my 4 yr old has started asking things like 'how big is the world' and 'why did dinosaurs die' I tend to mutter 'oh daddy would love to talk to you about that' which is cowardly, untrue, and probably sexist

I'm very good on birds and bees though

Elibean · 10/03/2008 18:02

Wow, a whole post without mentioning dd2

She's washed out (literally) but okish, so I'll keep quiet and hope for ongoing normality around here...thanks for all the wishes.

FunkyGoldStar · 10/03/2008 18:05

My 4yo is asking allsorts about dying, and growing, age etc. it all gets quite complex.

DD2 is sooooo cheeky. She has a wicked criminal mastermind type cackle when she is about to do something naughty which has come in handy a few times as I can prevent whatever it is she's about to do

bebespain · 10/03/2008 18:21

Indith - getting thay spooky small world sensation....

bebespain · 10/03/2008 18:22

...and I thought nobody outside of Torrejon had even heard of it, least of all somebody in England

Indith · 10/03/2008 19:51

No Eli I am not. Chocolate eating sounds like a good idea though I hereby command you come to Durham to eat chocolate and beat me about the head until I talk French to my son.

Bebe what are the odds of 2 people meeting in cyber space who live or have worked in Torrejon? If you tell me you know Puri I shall get very scared though. Lovely lady, slightly batty perhaps but lovely (should I say slightly batty when for all I know she could be your best friend?)

Am trying to remember more about Torrejon now. Failing slightly, don't know it well at all apart from the big shopping centre and the huge african population who sit around the 11M memorial talking in that amazing, beautiful to listen to (in a slightly geeky liguist way) mixture of French and tribal languages with the odd Spanish word thrown in.

Oh and the pizza hut near the station is really nice about letting you use their loos when you are newly pg and spend a few weeks having the worst case of the runs in the world ever (didn't keep anything, not even water 'up' for weeks) and can't even make it between work and the train station without needing to either pee or, erm, evacuate. Again. But that is probably TMI

OP posts:
bebespain · 10/03/2008 20:43

Indith - there isn´t that much to remember about Torrejon and what there is is easily forgotten! I shall bear the pizza hut loos in mind if I ever get stuck still we are moving house next week so looks like I´ve missed the boat!

No, I don´t know Puri, sounds a character though

We are finally getting into a nice sleep routine in the bs household (no gloating honestly) but am now thinking that moving house next week could turn all that on its head again...
