Oooops no room to link to old thread!

Lol at AQ forgetting that she is pg Sure the madness will pass. And don't worry about my chocolate supply, I live round the corner from Tesco

Jabber I think you should pop ds in the post and I'll sned him on holiday with all my clibing friends, they do similarly dangerous stunts on a larger scale. He'd have a ball

Hurrah for dd

I gave dd chocolate cake and sponge fingers at 10 months, when she wouldn't eat for a couple of weeks....totally relate.

As for justifying sugar intake, I think a sick child requires just as much physical and emotional energy as pregnancy, if not more

And as dd2 was up half the night, head bobbing to breathe (if only she'd learn to open her mouth at night, that would help, surely?!), coughing etc, I'm headed for a ton of chocolate tonight....as well as the GPs, in case its asthma and not just snot.

Elibean · 05/03/2008 10:38

That was meant to read 'Hurrah for your dd', as in BP's dd. Need some sleep!

jabberwocky · 05/03/2008 13:50

Just got in last night and I'm still catching up on sleep. But...

I was FIRST!!!! He is IN!!!!!!

The secretary said that she has never before told a parent on the same day that their child had definitely gotten in but she made an exception for me b/c I got there at

4:30 p.m.

I was in line for

15 hours

The next person didn't get there until 11:00 but that was still 3 hours earlier than the first person the year before. I decided since there was no way to predict what they would do I would do the most insane thing of all It really wasn't that bad, believe it or not. My best friend sat with me (and decided to turn in an application too while she was there - long story) Then a friend came at 11:00 to give us coffee, another came from 3:30 to 5:30 am to give me a chance to take a power nap - bf had taken one earlier - another one came from 5:30 to 7:30 to bring hot tea and support. We all met for dinner that night to celebrate and I am still amazed that I have friends who agreed to do this for me.

Oh, and when I was tucking ds1 into bed last night he mentioned that he really liked daddy better than me ....

Will catch up properly on the thread ASAP

Indith · 05/03/2008 15:18

Well done Jabber you insane woman you!

Bp why on earth would you have to be pg to justify ice cream? Does this mean I have to justify the 2 tubs of green and blacks in the freezer?

TMI alert I have fcking thrush after being on ABs for the last bout of sinusitis. Grr argh etc. /TMI alert*

Ds is eating me out of house and hoome again. I though they did this when they were teenagers not now!

jabber ! well done u...ds1 will thank you one day...
indith urgh, what a pita. Still, g&b icecream might help. Have no idea why we can't eat icecream all the time pg or not but I am so hungry ALL day at present except mainly for junk. Protein cravings for some reason, meat cheese & houmous.
DS2 & DS2 both eating nonstop ALL day, I cannot keep up with demand at present. Every 2 hours I have to produce substantial meal or snack arrgggh. Running out ideas that don't involve toast. Errrm, except they're having toast now.

jabberwocky · 05/03/2008 16:27

Thanks guys

ds2 has started eating lots too! I didn't realize they went through a growth spurt at this age.

Hate to tell you this, Indith, but I think sugar is not the best thing for yeast infection. Lots of yogurt, woman! I have even heard of people applying it topically in really severe cases

jabberwocky · 05/03/2008 16:29

Oh, and I forgot to mention that it did rain...but we were sitting under a covered walkway and had umbrellas to wedge around us so not that bad.

By the time ds1 is older I'm sure it will have morphed into a huge thunderstorm with threat of tornado

FunkyGoldStar · 05/03/2008 16:58

Yay for Jabber's school success. It is such a relief isnt it!!

DD2 has been a grumpy so and so today but she has a premolar on the bottom which has 3 spikes and we're just waiting on the 4th. Both DDs are tucking into spag bol though which always keeps them nice and quiet

babypowder · 05/03/2008 17:35

Yay, Jabber! You must be so relieved (and exhausted)

Indith, apply the yoghurt and eat the ice cream, I say. But do drink a few probiotic things as well. 'tis miserable [empathetic emoticon]

Elibean · 05/03/2008 21:34

Jabber 15 hours???! Well done you, think you win the Mum of the Year award!

dd2 has a bottle of antibiotics sitting in the fridge, which I'm loathe to start (third time in four weeks) unless she gets a fever, and a puffer, spacer and mask in case she gets wheezy and makes drowning noises at night again. She did last night, hence GP visit at nearly 6 pm tonight: trust me, not a good time for hanging out in a crowded surgery with a tired baby

Indith, commiserations...tube of Canesten rather than tub of G&Bs, maybe? But keep the G&B in mind to cheer you up in a day or two...

accessorizequeen · 05/03/2008 21:35

Is it properly asthma, Eli or are they still not sure? How terribly worrying for you when you might have thought all of that was over once she got to one. Hug!

Indith · 05/03/2008 21:39

Eli I'll pop the G&B in the post for you, think you have a greater need for it.

As for the yoghurt I'll just eat it and stick to applying the canestan thank you!

Jabber, Excellent news on the school front

Sacha, will be thinking of you tomorrow

Eli, dd4 was like this but it took Gp nearly 18 months to even suggest Asthma, She is nearly 5 now and luckily its only bad when she has a cold. Maybe puch for an appt for Asthma clinic if there is one where you are?

Well done Baby Glass Ds1 has been walking for 2-3 weeks and is now bending and turning while still on route I can't help but laugh when they wobble and correct themselves before carrying on!

Indith, I feel for you, Thrush was the bain of my life a few years ago thanks to Ab's. I have a regular stock of Canestan and the occasional tablet from G.P.

jabberwocky · 06/03/2008 02:07

Sacha, good luck on the scan tomorrow. That is such an exciting visit

bp, how is dd? ulcers improving at all?

eli, I hope it's not asthma, but if so better to diagnose early and know what you are dealing with.

Indith, shame on all of the no-shows at church. You're right, it's only polite after all the support they've given. How did it go at the meeting tonight??

castles, will try to look at pics. I am so bad at checking facebook

AQ, I keep forgetting you're pg too

magnolia, it's really nice to have you back

Elibean · 06/03/2008 11:55

Hi Magnolia

Another 4 hours broken sleep, poor dd started at 2am and coughed for an hour: Medised, inhaler, humidifier, Karvol, water, cuddles, she went back to sleep till 5am then started making drowning noises and coughing again so I brought her into bed, where DH put his earplugs in and dd coughed on me whilst dozing till 6am...where's the baggy-eyed icon....

I'm very glad I have the inhaler, BUT...sounds more like snot to me, worse when lying down of course, plus swollen throat which, for dd, is the worst bit. Seems like she has the sort of laryngomalacia which takes up to 24 months to sort itself out instead of 12.

Indith, thanks for the G&B...you might be right...but have a spoonful before you send it, anyway, and hope your nether regions are feeling happier.

Sacha, good luck and hope you get to enjoy the scan!

Elibean · 06/03/2008 11:56

Sorry, half asleep - AQ, no, not firm diagnosis, but big sister has mild asthma (like your dd Magnolia, just when she has a cold) and she's had bronchiolitis, so defo a possibility.

accessorizequeen · 06/03/2008 12:57

It's hard to pick up in small children, I think isn't it? I was told under a year, they've no idea really (ds2 was given an inhaler last year, but I never used it). Sounds like an awful night, Eli and poor little dd. Think of that lovely holiday you've just come back from (and g&b icecream in the post of course)...
Hope your scan went well, Sacha
LOL at jabber, we'll have to get a new thread I'm always there 'forgetting'!

jabberwocky · 06/03/2008 13:35

eli, do you have a breathing machine for her? Ours was a godsend with the rsv thing over Christmas.

FunkyGoldStar · 06/03/2008 14:26

eek, got my appointment for knee op. 29th March. 2 weeks crutches and 6 weeks no driving. Must be mad. Now I have to plan like crazy to make sure I have help every day for the first few weeks....

Elibean · 06/03/2008 15:14

Jabber, whats a breathing machine?

AQ, yes, v hard to diagnose - and hopefully its not asthma at all (though if it is, and its mild, I suppose its v dealable with - am just ignorant about asthma, never had it). She's full of beans in day time - albeit with cough/cold - very confusing.

FGS, sounds major - what are they doing to your poor knee?

FunkyGoldStar · 06/03/2008 15:18

I have to have an arthroscopy to clean some wear and tear on the cartilage but also an 'ilitibial band release' as the kneecap is slightly malpositioned. The ironic thing is that it doesnt actually hurt at the moment...

Indith · 06/03/2008 15:33

Gosh FGS. Sure you will be fine though and people will rally around to help

Eli the poor wee girl. Glad she is happy during the day at least. Always is the bloody nights when they are not well isn't it! Mind you dp is the same, huffs and puffs and fusses all night

Taken tablet, have double strength cream, feel more swollen than after ds came out of there.

Jabber the meeting was interesting. Not from the church point of view though, they all nodded but not sure they were fussed. We also talked a bit about the friendship groups and the fact that some are a bit cliquey. Topic matter had been advertised, meeting had been advertised. Once girl was mentioned a couple of times, not in a negative way (she is lovely but very shy and quiet), in conjunction with a couple of others. Girl's mum was not at meeting. She yelled at me after for mentioning her child. I know I've done nothing inappropriate and they had the meeting info a full 2 weeks in advance but it is still bothering me. None of the others have reacted in that way, those that came went home offering to reinforce the message that we want to give the girls about Rainbows at home and all saying that their daughters loved coming.

Oh well. Anybody know of a handy field in East Yorkshire? Am in need of suggestions

OP posts:
jabberwocky · 06/03/2008 16:59

eli breathing machine info here

Indith that is so awful that she yelled at you! I always get kind of shaky and sick when something like that happens. Then I get upset that I let myself react that way! comfort food helps...

This may sound weird, but have you tried a little cold pack for the swelling? It's a tricky place to do it but I did once when I was swollen like that from yeast infection.

FGS, it's like planning for maternity leave all over again, isn't it? At least you will have it behind you.

Elibean · 06/03/2008 18:50

Thanks Jabber, that sounds interesting - though I'm a bit confused, isn't a nebuliser the same as a puffer-with-spacer? Or not?? We have a puffer/spacer with mask for dd2, she's been quite happy to play with it and let me puff a bit with the mask over her face - she'll copy me and take a deep breath, too. I used it whilst changing her nappy pre-bed just now, in the hope it helps. So far, no runs from the antibiotics, at least....she must be toughening up

FGS, ouch. Funny how SO many treatments come through just when the original problem isn't causing any pain, eh?! Hope you have lots of help lined up, and lots of comfort food for after

Indith, why on earth did she yell at you?! Silly woman. You now have double reason to tackle the G&Bs, or you could always use it as a cold pack I suppose

jabberwocky · 06/03/2008 21:40

It does sound like the same thing, eli. I didn't realize that. It gets a little confusing sometimes with the differences from here to there
