Oooops no room to link to old thread!

Lol at AQ forgetting that she is pg Sure the madness will pass. And don't worry about my chocolate supply, I live round the corner from Tesco

Jabber I think you should pop ds in the post and I'll sned him on holiday with all my clibing friends, they do similarly dangerous stunts on a larger scale. He'd have a ball

Now that's a fab reason to have twins, Godzilla .

Elibean · 22/04/2008 22:11

OMG, AQ no wonder you've been so tired! I know several twin mums, and believe me, nearly all of them went through a period of shock and worry (some of them would say terror!) before getting their heads around it - your reaction sounds v v normal to me. Its true, there is loads of support out there - worth getting, too, because other twin mums will have information, tips and ideas for you that none of us singleton mums could begin to imagine. Starting with pregnancy and getting through it (vague memory of friend saying something about eating extra protein ).

Double congratulations, and double (at least) hugs of whatever sort you need or want.

Ack, got to go check on dd2, she sounds like a croaking frog crossed with Darth Vader...

Elibean · 22/04/2008 22:11

Ah - had forgotten you had twins there, Godzilla, hurrah for our twin mum

accessorizequeen · 22/04/2008 22:27

I had forgotten too about yours Godzilla ! I have just spoken to a friend with 9 month old twins and she was very helpful and reassuring although when she told me she stopped work at 25 weeks my jaw dropped. How big am I going to get? No wonder I've been stuffing my face for weeks (without gaining any weigh weirdly) and with cheese too! I haven't quite accepted it enough to go looking on mumsnet but I'm sure I will. DP has been an absolute sweetheart and clearly v.excited as he just loves being a dad. He asked ds1 how many babies I had in my tummy and ds1 said '24?'. Twins didn't seem that exciting after that

Eli, I hope dd2 doesn't have another awful night. How's the clinginess? DS2 has just this week finished his, he actually went to his nursery nurse yesterday for a hug and didn't look back. Unheard of. It goes so quickly, thank god. By 18 months in most cases which she nearly is?

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 22/04/2008 22:28

Yes - Godzilla is completely sane after having twins.

I'm not helping, am I?

GodzillasPimplyBumcheek · 22/04/2008 22:36

Hmph [tries to look annoyed ]

Well, i grew out of all my pg clothes - though i did only have 2 pairs of trousers and a load of baggy tops...but i hadn't put much weight on and what i had gained shifted pretty quick afterwards! Unlike with DD3 where i haven't stopped gaining weight [sigh]!

I'm not helping am i? I should probably just go away!

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 22/04/2008 22:40

Godzilla - we'll both go in the unhelpful corner. (That is, if you forgive me for being mean)

GodzillasPimplyBumcheek · 22/04/2008 22:49

Mean? When? That's nothing to what i put up with here at home And that's just from DD3 thwacking me in the head cuz it's funny when i say 'ouch'! (Not mentioning DD1 and DD2 who say it's my fault their hair is uncontrollable!).

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 22/04/2008 23:08

Oh, when DH got home at 3.30 this afternoon, he found DDs in their respective beds and me curled up asleep at the end of dd1s bed.

See, even mummies need an afternoon nap.

GodzillasPimplyBumcheek · 22/04/2008 23:11

Awwwwww! I wish i could!

jabberwocky · 23/04/2008 00:42

I forgot about your twins, too Godzille How wonderful to have your very own twins expert right here on the thread, AQ

The only TV show I watch regularly these days is Jon and Kate Plus 8. It's a reality show about a couple who had infertility treatments to get pg (she has PCCOS) They got twins the first time, then she wanted "just one more". Next time was sextuplets! Dh thinks I'm crazy to watch it but I tell him it gives me hope. Her brood are the same age difference as mine, although a few years older and I have to tell myself "If Kate can cope then so can I". Some days it works better than others, lol.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 23/04/2008 08:44

Can you imaging having six ?

Chaos here as getting ready for pre-school. DD1 is going 5 sessions a week now which I actually quite like I might put DD2 in the creche at the leisure centre and start swimming one morning a week.

Babysteps Day 13 - Daily Mission I like this bit as it gets me doing things I wouldnt always do and they normally only take a few minutes.

LenniEd · 23/04/2008 10:49

Can I join you in the not-really-helping-corner please Margo and Godzilla!

Thank you for the babysteps FGS - I am still only up to hotspots and sink shining though. Haven't really made it onto routined yet, although house is definately better - DH even commented on it the other day. Although seem to remember his comment being "The house looks really tidy, shame you've done none of your essays though" , he's right... must get back to convincing DD to take a nap so I can do some work now...

babypowder · 23/04/2008 19:55

OMG twins Is it sinking in yet? (Sorry, been away for a couple of days and ionly just catching up)

I had to sign an incident book at nursery today when I collected DD2 - she had scratched another LO and made them bleed Usually I'm having to sign the accident book when another child bites or pushes her over, and I always just laugh it off. It's just sooooo embarassing when it's your own that has committed the crime!

Would it be wrong to get pregnant just so that I could have another year off on matty leave?

Olihan · 23/04/2008 20:04

BP, how are you? Did you get the job?

AQ, how are you feeling about everything today? More ((hugs)) as I don't really know what else to say.

DS2 has slept through for the last two nights so he's not as broken as I feared . DD on the other hand...........hey ho.

Eli, how's DD2's cough/chest? Ds1 and DD have terrible coughs at the moment, they both sound like 40-a-day-ers, especially at night. There are some nasty ole viruses doing the rounds at the moment.

FGS, I've just started following the baby steps (DH being home mysteriously increases the mess/workload exponentially) and it's helping me get a grip back on my hovel house, so big thanks from me too!

babypowder · 23/04/2008 20:34

Didn't get the job, but being 'considered' for another one that will come up soon. Never mind. At least I didn't embarrass myself - it was my first interview for at least 6 yaers, so I was really nervous.

I'm finding the babywearing swap group a little intimidating. There's a whole new language to learn. All I want is a piece of woven material that is long enough to tie in a backpack arrangement!

accessorizequeen · 23/04/2008 21:29

LOL at your fav.tv programme, jabber Don't think it's made it over here. I did watch Supernanny in the US with triplets which was pretty amazing.
Sorry you didn't get the job, bp, but agree with you that interview practice is v.useful, I guess I won't be doing one again for several years! I do feel kind of about the work situation as I did want to keep working in some guise to save my sanity but can't see how with 1 at school and 3 at home.
Now that I know it's twins, I'm realising that I've been pushing myself a little. I was so exhausted by the time dp came home (at 6.30) I couldn't walk anymore. So had a two hour nap and then came down to shine my sink. DP, bless him had put the dishwasher on etc and cleaned up. Have told quite a few people today all of whom looked at me with pity, and have to tell work tomorrow. I think I have to resign straight away as I have a 4 month notice period but they might let me off as I didn't know I was having blooming twins! Feeling numb, but a bit better when ds1 spent half the day 'having' twins from under his top I esp liked the platypus twins, an homage to my homeland. And they were kicking tonight which was lovely.

accessorizequeen · 23/04/2008 21:31

Ah, and bp agree with you re: babywearing, I joined it today! FSOT is for sale or trade I think. I think lots of people go for 6m wraps to do anything, but as you're smaller you will presumably need less? And as Indith said, you need more material for newborn carries which you will not need.
Oli, very good on ds2's sleeping, long may it continue!

LenniEd · 23/04/2008 22:08

BP - my wrap is 4.6m and both DH and I can do all the carries we've tried so far. You do need more for some of them, but I found when DD was tiny I wasn't needing the more fabric-thirsty ones anyway. For a cross-over backpack I have about 0.5m spare so could get away with 4.2m and I am an ample-bossomed size 16 (damn baby, ruined me, nothing to do with the chocolate... )

Hope you are keeping ok AQ. Thinking of you. Take it easy as much as you can. LOL at DS1 having twins Apologies for my over-exuberant excitement.

Elibean · 23/04/2008 22:12

Awww, AQ, you say 'they', you must be starting to get your head around them already I'm so glad you gave yourself a break (and a nap!). Your body is really really working hard, no wonder you've been so tired...ARE so tired...we'll nag you to rest lots (I'm getting far too good at nagging, must go with having two LOs )

Am half asleep as walked to pool today, swam hard, and walked back - after a night of being up for 1.5 hrs with dd2 coughing and clinging. First deliberate exercise I'd done for ages - think my body is in

Oli, so sorry your LOs have horrid coughs...yes there certainly are nasty viruses around still, dd2 hacks coughs and then cries every single night. Fine during the day, full of beans, shouting 'non, non' and 'yeay' and being utterly charming as long as no one tries to prise her away from my ankles/neck, but still mucousy at night. Inhalers make no difference, I resort ashamedly to Benelyn or Medised at some point most nights, which is the only way for her to not be choking on secretions, it seems. Any other ideas welcome!

BP, at that age, I reckon who scratches who is almost irrelevent! Have a feeling dd2 will be the one getting into scrapes though...at most ages I suspect...

jabberwocky · 24/04/2008 02:40

eli do you have zyrtec over there? Ds1 gets this hacking allergy cough without it. Also the new high-tech filter we put on the air system makes a big difference.

For all the forty-somethings (me and eli?) I got to meet Robby Benson tonight He is directing a movie in our town. He was my total teenage heartthrob

jabberwocky · 24/04/2008 02:41

AQ what does it feel like to get kicked by two?

FunkyGlassSlipper · 24/04/2008 08:28

Morning everyone, Glad the babysteps are helping Here is Babysteps Day 14 - read an essay that Kelly wrote And do your Morning and Evening routines, and Kelly's mission.

AQ - sounds like you are mentally adjusting to your news already

babypowder · 24/04/2008 10:42

Um, Indith - where do we put the 21st birthday badge on the Rainbow uniform? DD1 came home with a badge yesterday, and I have no idea what I'm meant to do with it!

Hijack over!
