Oooops no room to link to old thread!

Lol at AQ forgetting that she is pg Sure the madness will pass. And don't worry about my chocolate supply, I live round the corner from Tesco

Jabber I think you should pop ds in the post and I'll sned him on holiday with all my clibing friends, they do similarly dangerous stunts on a larger scale. He'd have a ball

Oh AQ just noticed the shorts I'll gladly take them off your hands.

Have some really good links for ethical related stuff by the way for anyone interested. Shall post them next time I boot up the laptop as they are on there. Very interesting reading, not that it helps you make your mind up too much as there are so many different factors! Still, gives a good understanding anyway.

thanks Eli, I know you've had to put with far far more than this.

babypowder · 13/04/2008 22:20

Indith, I put DD2 into cotton tracksuit bottoms and long sleeved vests for bed They fit over her nappy nicely, whereas pj's always seems a little snug.

Margo, I'm so glad that there's a tummy bug going round. DD2 was sick in the night, and I was starting to think it was my cooking I hate it when she has an upset tummy as her poo smells terrible (sorry if TMI) Hope yours are feeling better.

accessorizequeen · 13/04/2008 22:23

Hope they get better soon, margo!

Indith, will they fit your ds though with the cloth bum? Not part. generous, either make. I'll email you the photo anyway, happy to pass them on, why did I buy so many shorts for ds1 anyway?

PJs generally seem pretty roomy in the bottom, I have ds2 in m&s 12-18 ones with a minki huggle boosted and they're fine! Same with next 18-24 I think. ds1 has the gap ones and they're so cute, but can't think they'll look good on a cloth bum (or indeed thunder thighs and a quite massive a&^e!) I've got a lovely photo of my dumpling from the wedding last weekend, will add it to my profile!

bp, i'm glad you're excited about my scan as I'm just v.v.nervous. DP pointed out that the bump was getting bigger and moving around (I lie down every night and check) so he didn't see how anything could be wrong. I've been feeling flutters for a few weeks which is a bit odd isn't it for 14 weeks even 3rd time round?

Indith · 13/04/2008 22:30

Ah but AQ his bamboo terries are no fatter than a sposie. That and he has some TU stuff in 12-18 that is still too big! Short of leg my boy. Quite stupidly so when you look at him nekkid Tis only at night that he gets large of bum, double boosted minki huggle at the moment to cope with his wee volume!

Flutters! How exciting!

Am trying to hold back from the preg tests at the moment. Due on on Tues but starting to feel a bit periody today. Still can't complain if not, need an x-ray doing at the dentist really and christmas eve would just have been a daft idea

Morning everyone. Flylady babysteps day 6 - Hotspots Now the work begins This is a fab idea...

Hope you're all ok and poorly ones are improving.

Indith · 14/04/2008 16:53

FGS I'm saving them up for post exams, I will declutter and become tidy again

I have a shiny new wrap sling, it is muchly pretty. Unforunately it is only on loan yet I'm already in love. Had cake with Kiskidee and BouncingTurtle today and kiskidee insisted I wear it in for her so it is nice and soft for dc2 when it arrives. She is a hard woman to refuse Ds has already fallen asleep in it so it must be comfy

Suppose I should go and check exactly what he is doing to the pan cupboard........

OP posts:
LenniEd · 14/04/2008 20:20

oooo, sling, EXCITING Tell all please....

Flybaby going ok still... although I seem to have twenty million (slight exaggeration) hotspots in the house... hmmmm, need to seriously declutter.

We are at the one week anniversary of the big bed and I feel like a new woman. DD has slept like a baby all week in it. Only woken once in the night all week and had 12 hours straight 6 out of 7 nights. Can definately recommend it... although no guarantees it will work on your dcs - also no guarantee it lasts longer than a week...

I have pulled a muscle in my chest somehow from all the carrying her on one hip though it hurts, and is right where my bra goes so all uncomfy.

Aside from that am only horrendously slightly stressed about looming essay deadlines and measly word counts... ho hum...

Indith · 14/04/2008 20:33

Oh go on then Lennied

Only because I am procrastinating due to essay deadline and word count terror and can't stand the sight of any of them at the moment! (must get 2 of the 3 done though with enough time ot atttack my orals....quite how this is to be done I don't know)

Anyway it is a storchenwiege, same fabric as the first picture. It is a short one with just enough to do a simple rucksack on me, tis rather nice to not have the long ends like with my ellaroo.

Right back to work!

OP posts:
LenniEd · 14/04/2008 20:46

interesting... [note to self...must buy new sling ]

at word count terror... better get back to my reading. Am scared that word count terror might set in

I'm stuck on all three of my essays... all of them have big gaps with things written in red as notes for me to remember what to put next, all of which are now completely meaningless to me ... need to get a better memory, they should sell those for mothers.

accessorizequeen · 14/04/2008 22:06

Sorry fgs, I think I"m failing already from step 5. living room has turned into chaos as dp is painting huge cupboard in there, everything from current shelves piled everywhere else. Talk about hotspots!

Don't you have a storchie, too, jabber? remember you raving about them. I'm a bit put off since my mei tei experiment although a hug a bub type thing really appeals for dc3. Must go, dp says I'm meant to be research various house projects we're trying to finish before october!

indith, shall I post you the shorts? TU quite short shorts navy & beige, next combat style hard wearing navy & beige! If they'll fit that's great!

Indith · 14/04/2008 22:34

That would be fab AQ. How do you want the postage? Paypal, cheque, coffee in June....

What are you writing about Lennied?

I ahve just put the final finishing touches to one of the 3, now must resolve not to look at it again. Tomorrow final finishing to another and attempt to get 3rd up to word count. Then I have to give up on essays and concentrate on orals

OP posts:
FunkyGlassSocks · 15/04/2008 07:28

LennieEd - you could always get a Hippychick Hipseat I got mine when I was having neck problems carrying DD2. I dont use it all the time but I can come in handy.

DD1 is in her new midsleeper bed. It took a few days as she isnt very comfortable with big changes but we seem to have got there. That means the junior bed is now in DD2s room as well as the cot. She's shown no interest other than climbing on it to look out of the window

AQ - the point of Flylady is babysteps. You cant fail. You just jump right in where you left off. Do one hotspot a day. In a month you will have done 30!!

Babysteps Day 7 - Get your clothes ready the night before. I dont do this one but a lot of people find it very helpful, especially if they do it for older (school) chidren too.

bebespain · 15/04/2008 08:39

Hope the poorly LOs are better...

Good luck to Indith and LenniEd for your essay deadlines - ouch LenniEd at the pulled muscle!

Indith - I have a pair of shimmy shoes going spare (unworn - choo choo train) if you like I could send them to you. Its a shame to have them sat in the wardrobe as DS is in big boys shoes now - much to MILs delight! Am back in England this Saturday so let me know...

DS is in Bob the Builder mode. He´s been spending time watching DH put together some new furniture and copies him with a mini screw driver. Its so funny, you should see the concentration on his face! Hilarious!

Anyone else thought they´d turned a corner re sleeping only to find they were wrong...? Had two horrible nights, DS waking at 3.00am will not go back in his cot, ends up in our bed laughing and being generally mischievous and no sign of sleepiness whatsoever, It was past 5.00am when he decided to go back to sleep this morning - arrrgh - I don´t know what to do. Putting him on boob isn´t working either...

accessorizequeen · 15/04/2008 10:23

FGS, appreciating your encouraging words (how's the leg coming on btw??), I've just gone backwards is all! I have been doing 'hotspots' a few nights a week all year to not much avail, must try harder

Indith, let's meet up in June that wld be good, bring ds round for a play Email me your durham address as i@m getting to the PO this week.

i have a hip seat, pity I can't actually use it anymore! Twas quite useful although dp hates it, it doesn't suit men's hips. can't suggest anything re: sleep lennied except keeping up later or ensuring nap is shorter during the day?

Indith · 15/04/2008 13:17

Done AQ

Bebe that would be great thank you What would you like for them? Give me a yell on FB or e-mail on Indith _ underfire at yahoo dot co dot uk.

Sorry about the sleep. We have lost our lazy mornings it seems but other than that ok, bit of post MMR unsettledness and feverishness but generally good. When ds has had phases of early waking we found that bringing him to bed tended to be more fun for him than anything else. Just kept resettling him in his cot until 5.30 ish when one of us gave up and got up with him. Doesn't give you any more sleep and wouldn't put any money on it solving the problem any quicker than just getting up earlier but I suppose at least we felt that we were reinforcing the message that it was still night time!

Ds is saying "hello" repeatedly from his cot. He has just been put down for a nap but doesn't seem to agree with me!

OP posts:
Indith · 15/04/2008 13:21

Hmm judging from the noises he is now standing up and winding up his mobile. Suppose i should go and investigate. we had a great nap thing going for a few weeks, he traded the late mornings for a 2 hour kip after lunch, it was ace. If he is going to stop the naps then he had better go back to sleeping til 8!

OP posts:
LenniEd · 15/04/2008 14:20

Sorry that this is OT..

Indith Essays are on...
(1) Improving Urban Schools (done 375/4000 words [aaaarrgh emoticon] really stuck on this one) Draft due April 30th

(2) Whether special education provides a bright future for children with SEN (done 1299/3000 words - OK on this now just need to put the time in) Due June 4th

(3) 6000 word research report. Done 1427 words. Also OK on this one, but can't do some sections yet as not got all my data, and am procrastinating on the methodology etc. Need a preliminary report for April 28th.

Am procrastinating mainly because I can't decide whether to try and get (1) done because it is hardest or (3) because it is due first. I can do (2) easiest so am spending most time on that which is silly cos it isn't due for ages, but at least I am achieving something.

House is tidy though - thanks FGS.

Indith · 15/04/2008 14:54

Oooh sounds interesting

So easy to procrastinate but I know I hate myself more when I've wasted an evening. Feels so good when you actually sit down and make progress. If you are working tonight pop onto the "is anyone studying tonight" thread for motivational word count swapping

Just in case anyone is interested, because I said I would dig them out.

lots of links here

very good info here Found it very unbiased, the reports on companies give the info and happily admit that there are a lot of factors and some are good in some areas but not in others etc so leaves you very free to make your mind up. Also points out that if we all stop buying stuff there won't be any jobs at all so is not about a boycott.

quite interesting

OP posts:
jabberwocky · 16/04/2008 01:47

AQ, what an excellent memory you have! Yes, I have a storchie and I used it tons when ds2 was little. I've been meaning to get it out and learn some new toddler-type wraps as we were doing a newborn cradle style at the time. Dh laughed at me for getting a "swim mei-tei" but it was on sale a few months back and I couldn't help myself I tried it on when it first got here and I'm not so sure how it will work.

So we got back from the clinic today and I'm hopeful that dh may get some improvement. They didn't do as much testing as I had thought but did put him on a new medication and gave him some recommendations to help with the fatigue.
Fingers crossed!

FunkyGlassSocks · 16/04/2008 08:58

Indith - interesting links.

Jabber - glad the clinic visit went well.

I had a bad day yesterday. DH ill. Me tired etc.

Babysteps Day 8 - morning and evening routines This, combined with hotspotting, has helped me most.

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 16/04/2008 12:44

Thank you Indith. Retail industry doesn't care for workers here which leads me to believe that their view is "out of sight, out of mind" for their overseas workers.

{FGS} - I wish there was a free service who looked after the children while you could get a 20 min nap.

Out of interest, do the slings even out the weight? I get a frozen shoulder from time to time. I have given up using my Active Carrier as DD2 is too heavy. Or am I just a wimp?

I hope the new meds work Jabber.

Indith · 16/04/2008 14:18

Sounds good Jabber, hope things go well on the new medication. Do get your wrap out again, a simple tibetan rucksack is just so quick and easy. I don't even do the chest strap, I tie round my waist.

Margo yes they do even the weight out, and are really good over your shoulders as you can spread the fabric right out.

OP posts:
jabberwocky · 16/04/2008 14:27

Thanks for the link, Indith! I like that technique. I think I packed my wrap already but will try it next month. There's a lovely trail from our house right to downtown that I can't wait to hike on. This will be perfect to take ds2 along
