Oooops no room to link to old thread!

Lol at AQ forgetting that she is pg Sure the madness will pass. And don't worry about my chocolate supply, I live round the corner from Tesco

Jabber I think you should pop ds in the post and I'll sned him on holiday with all my clibing friends, they do similarly dangerous stunts on a larger scale. He'd have a ball

Sorry didn't mean to start the whole shoe thing again! Twas me doing that recently too. Just starting to feel a wee bit guilty with the weather perking up that he can't potter about around the swings. Was horrible in the lakes, go for a walk so he is in the carrier, stop for lunch and all he wants to do is explore and stretch out a bit but because he only has knitted booties and the ground is wet he can't. Hurry up and walk child!

Social life? What social life? Trouble with student life, not a working mum so no collegues etc to befriend, not a sahm so can't go to classes and groups. Hey ho, another day gone and one closer to freedom then toddler groups here I come!

Actually am having coffee with a couple of local MNetters on Monday and going to a sling meet on Thurs as creche closed for another week. MIL coming up for a day to give me more essay time but mostly taking advantage of having ds all to myself while inwardly panicking about lack of exam prep.

Hugs for dd2 Eli, hope she is ok.

Castles hope you are taking care of yourself.

castles, I'm so sorry about your friend. I was just talking to someone last week about how, even when you know it's coming, you are never prepared for the loss.

As for shoes, I breed such early walkers that ds2 has been in them for a while now. I do love parents who buy nice shoes for their non-walking babies as I scoop up wonderful deals at the consignment store

FGS and castles, unfortunately you can only try to manage the symptoms as there is no cure. Apparently the muscles begin to ache more and more the older the patient gets. Problems with overall fatigue (like chronic fatigue syndrome), sleeping and depression/anxiety also set in. Originally dh was hesitant to go in for all of these tests but now he is really looking forward to seeing doctors who actually know about his condition. We will be staying in rooms that are on the grounds of the rehab clinic - I think it may have been the very first clinic devoted to polio IIRC. They have now branched out to other types of physical therapy and rehab though. I guess this is my family's answer to the weekend at the luxury hotel

eli, here's sending vibes that it's just teething. Your dd2 is only a day or so younger than my ds2 and we have been having lots of rounds with teeth the last two weeks or so.

castlesintheair · 13/04/2008 11:13

Thanks for your kind words everyone. It's the age thing that gets you the most: I don't think I've been to a funeral for anyone over the age of 40 in years

Jabber, that looks fantastic. You are so far ahead in the US. I really hope they can help your DH.

Eli and Jabber, DD2 is getting her back teeth now. She's 30 Nov so quite close to yours iirc?

DD2 (another early walker) has finally decided to wear shoes outside. I've been getting horrified looks from people since she was 10 months old at her wading around in puddles/mud without shoes. I just gave up after losing so many shoes/boots

Indith · 13/04/2008 14:03

Ok I have a question, pyjamas.

Ds still sleeps in sleepsuits, which is great, nice and loose and comfy and no cold toes.

But he is pretty much out of them all.

Does anyone sell pyjamas for this age range? I am having zilch luck. People seem to sell sleepsuits up to 12 months and pyjamas (usually short sleeved ) for 2+. I want some pyjamas, sleepsuits, whatever for my 15 month old!

castles, I remember you posting about your friend some time back, I'm so sorry she's lost the battle

indith, I have several pairs from mothercare in 18-24 months. Next also do them, so easy to order from catalogue. I seem to remember our tigger ones (which are so cute on) come from Debenhams so a few places to get started. I wished I could have bought some from Mothercare last week as they were v.nice but we have so many pairs from ds1!
BTW, you can get waterproof booties for babies, I think jojo might sell them, might be cheaper than clark's shoes, go over his normal booties. We just have a pair of leather shoo shoos at present and they get grubby! I've already wasted £22 on pre-crawlers, not doing it again. DS1 took another step last night, I thought dp was going to have heart palpitations he was so excited!

Indith · 13/04/2008 14:38

Aw bless (ds and dh both ). They are all growing up so fast

Ho hum, mothercare are among the worst offenders for the conditions in which their clothes are produced so I tend to avoid if possible. No Debenhams in Durham and the Next here certainly didn't have any last time I looked. May have to drag dp to Newcastle/send him to Newcastle while I work.

I did order some waterproof boots before going to the lakes along with some waterproof dungarees but they sent mittens instead

jojo or blooming marvellous? next online muchbetter.

FunkyGlassSocks · 13/04/2008 16:11

Indith - try Adams, Next, Asda, Tesco, Woolworths for pyjamas. Dd2 has some Fifi ones which are very cute. She is mainly wearing sleepsuits though as DD1s smaller size and different season means we have lots of winter sleepsuits and summer outfits for DD2 at the moment

FunkyGlassSocks · 13/04/2008 16:12

I didnt know that about Mothercare. Also try BHS as they do some very nice pyjama sets.

Indith · 13/04/2008 16:17

Clearly Durham is just silly then as those shops that we have just don't have anything suitable! Tis either small baby sleep suits or short sleeved pjs for older children! Shall send dp to Newcastle next weekend on a mission, I want some stuff from Lakeland anyway. If I'ma good girl and have done enough work I could even go myself and get some nicely fitted bras from JL as nothing I have fits anymore.

LenniEd · 13/04/2008 16:23

As an aside on the sleepsuit/pyjama front I noticed when we went to Barcelona last year that they sell sleepsuits up to about age 5years! DH had a look to see if they did adult ones but to no avail !

Agree with AQ that Next online is much better than the stores and you can order without an account with them now and return to store anythign unwanted. Vertbaudet do pyjamas too - although their stuff is worryingly cheap.

Do you have an active NCT near you? We get loads of our baby clothes from their nearly new sales, all in beautiful condition and really cheap. Might be worth having a look there as they are usually on in the Spring and Autumn. Ours is in a couple of weeks.

LenniEd · 13/04/2008 16:27

Just thought - probably not silly shops in Durham. More likely they have already had their summer ranges in. We couldn't get long sleeved pjs last summer, and we needed them with the awful weather.

Indith · 13/04/2008 16:27

We do but the last time I went to an NCT sale I got very afraid, absolutely mental scrum of pg women and women using pushchairs to beat people put of the way scrabbling to get the best bargins and fill their bin liners as quickly as possible.

The NCT lady who told me to go now has her dd in my Rainbows so I get to have my revenge by filling her full of E numbers on a regular basis

Actually she and her dd are lovely so I'm joking.

Not sure what you want to spend Indith.

Marks and Spencer Boys Long pyjamas

Debenhams Boys Long pyjamas

accessorizequeen · 13/04/2008 19:22

Just remembered I was given m&s ones and they're v.nice (although on the small side). Assuming you have to accommodate v.large cloth bottom, indith!

I don't go to mcare at all these days but we had to replace the little ride on car last week and nowhere else would do! I have been bookmarking a few more fairtrade/organic clothing places for boys' stuff as I can't find anything I like in Hull. Fruitless mission to H&M today for trousers (the only place that will do adjustable waists for both of them here). Arggggh.

I have some shorts btw ffp 18-24 months, 4 pairs - anyone want them? 2 next and 2 TU. I did take a photo but haven't uploaded it yet. DS2 has another 12 pairs for some reason, he'll never wear them.

FunkyGlassSocks · 13/04/2008 19:43

I've just been going through all of DD1s old clothes. DD2 needs new t-shirts - she has a podgy tum so I'm going to put her in DD1s old age 2-3s . Thing is, DD1 is so skinny she only stopped wearing them about 18 months ago.....

FunkyGlassSocks · 13/04/2008 19:48

doh, 8 months ago.

accessorizequeen · 13/04/2008 19:49

Yeah, it's the same in our house, fgs! ds1 has turned into a skinny little man but ds2 (esp as NOT walking and cloth-bottomed) quite huge! I am quite pleased I get to buy a few things for him now and again because of this, I get sick of the same clothes popping up again (god forbid a 3rd time).

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 13/04/2008 19:53

{{Castles}}, it's so unfair when someone so young loses their fight for life.

Indith - I saw some PJs in Boots today, also try TU at Sainsburys - DD2 is wearing DD1s hand me downs in 9-12 months.#

DD2 is generally in 9-12 month clothes, I don't think she's that small. Both of my girls have this dreaded flu bug and dd2 vomited quite badly in her sleep this afternoon. She has a bit of a temperature. I am hoping that it has gotten rid of all the phlegm on her chest (sorry if tmi)

FunkyGlassSocks · 13/04/2008 19:57

DD2 is wearing 9-12 month trousers as she has v short legs although they are tight on the tummy. She is wearing 12-18 skirts which are fine. And for tops she has been wearing 12-18 and looking through DD1s clothes we seemed to skip 18-24 so DD2 will be doing the same. ALthough I may go and get her some nice clothes when I'm out and about again.

We have loads of party dresses! Gifts from well meaning relatives first time around. DD2 will have 6 to choose from when I've wshed them all. wtf?

Indith · 13/04/2008 19:57

Oh yes M&S, always forget they do baby stuff as our doesn't. That'll be Newcastle again then! But yes seem to recall that they were small bummed from the smaller ones we had.

Maybe I'll bite the bullet and get c4c ones, at least I know they last beautifully!

Elibean · 13/04/2008 19:59

((Castles)) ongoing hugs..

dd2 has some GAP pjs which say '2' on them, but are only a bit long, and so tight the long part doens't matter. And some I got online which are brilliant - comfy and wash/dry well - will look up make for you Indith.

Thanks for teeth thoughts, think thats definitely playing a part - she has two sets of molars through, though only two others at the top, four at the bottom she seems in good form most of the time, but has a hacking cough and wheeze, so am carrying on the steroid inhaler. Went to see dh's db and family today - only to find out their eldest had v similar history of chest problems and asthma, which only cleared up when they moved out of London.....

Elibean · 13/04/2008 20:00

Margo, so sorry your LOs are unwell....fingers crossed for better in the morning...

Indith · 13/04/2008 20:01

Well there you go Eli, you'll just have to come live up here and speak French to ds! Perfect!
