I've never started a new thread before - has this worked?

sushistar · 20/02/2008 22:42

I have been lucky, breastfeeding has helped me loose weight i tyhink - but my tummy is horrendus! Like a big stretch-marked jelly
Furryfox, hope the jabs go ok. DS only cried for a minute. He's got his 12 week jabs next week, poor mite - it's awful for us, even if the babies dont mind!

kelbel · 21/02/2008 10:22

morning all, hi sushistar.

i am eating sooo much chocolate...why do they bring cream eggs out so early, i feel the need to eat at least 1 everyday! i lost alot of weight in first 2 weeks - down to bf i think coz havn't cut down, tbh i don't have much more to lose but before you hit me again i had the worst hyperemesis from week 5 to week 19, was 2 and half stone lighter than before i was preg when i was 16 weeks.

Flynn has a pretty rough cold at the moment, really knocked his nighttime routine. got a docs app this afternoon but prob a waste of time. he's really snuffly, sneezy, coughing, clingy and dribbling all the time - like soaking his top - what do you reckon? pretty normal cold?suppose i'm just going to docs to see if theres anything other than sailine drops. would you give calpol?x

kelbel · 21/02/2008 10:27

new pic just uploaded - even if he did keep us up all night how can you be mad at that face!x

suey2 · 21/02/2008 10:50

morning all. gorgeous pic kelbel.
have finally uploaded a picture of millie

Bouncingturtle · 21/02/2008 10:55

Well we have a new night time routine, which starts off well then rapidly degenerates.

7pm - bath then feed
8pm - Asleep in Moses basket
10pm - my bedtime, feed ds then both of us sleep
12am - Ds wakes up and feeds
Between 1-2am I wake up in a panic, I've falleb asleep while feeding and ds is asleep on the vpillow on my lap. Transfer him to Moses basket and he then wakes up. Feed him again and put him back in Moses basket.
2-4am, ds is restless, offer dummy we fall asleep but he spits out wakes up so feed him again. Eventually give up trying to get him to sleep in the Moses basket and lie him on his tummy on my chest while I'm sat upright. We both fall asleep until 7am.

Have told dh that until we get ds taking a bottle again, he needs to be awake and keep me awake at the midnight feed, because I think that is where the problem lies...
At least he doesn't seem to have any ill effects from the jabs.

Kelbel - if he has a temp give him some calpol, you can give it from 8 weeks, but if not then probably best not to. I've been using children's olbas to help with ds's snotty nose, even though you are not supposed to use it until 3 months. But he seems ok. I would see what the GP says anyway.

Amani · 21/02/2008 12:44

Suey2 - your pic is so cute - love the little smile!

Kelel- glad am not the only one going mad for chocolate and likewise here, love Cadbury's Creme Eggs! YUM YUM Cute picture too!

Good night last night DD2, went to bed at 8.30pm and woke only every 4 hrs - brilliant!

Hi Sushistar

Ambi · 21/02/2008 12:53

Suey and Kelbel, soooo cute..

Back from baby group, DD isn't youngest anymore, there was a 6 week old, born 4 weeks early, so tiny at 6lbs but very cute. Can't remember DD being so small anymore, she seems to be growing loads at the moment almost too big for her baby bath now.

sushistar · 21/02/2008 13:06

I'm just back from the nct coffee moprning - like Ambi, ds is not the smallest now!
I have NO bedtime routine. It's just random.

claraquitetirednow · 21/02/2008 13:41

hi sushistar and welcome. Don't worry we have no bedtime routine either. I find with two it's too hard, plus my dh has been away a lot recently so I have had to do it all on my own in the evenings. I am just glad if I can get dd1 bathed and to bed at the normal time. The baby can wait!
However am thinking of trying to start to instigate a routine in a few weeks time as I want my evenings back. Please!

aaargh just typed really long post then lost it!

sushistar · 21/02/2008 13:59

We co-sleep, so i'm not sure how to start a routine even. We (dh, ds and me) go to bed at 11ish, and ds snuggles down with us. He ocasionally sleeps in his basket for the first part of the night, but not often...
wow, clara, i imagine it's VERY hard with 2!!

claireybee · 21/02/2008 14:10

Here goes again:
Hi to Jo and Sushistar!

Furry/Suey, DS hates the buggy and car too-there is no way I could use it to settle him cos he just screams louder and louder until I take him out. Even if was previously calm/asleep will start screaming in either!DD was the opposite too.

Skid, I also have a huge appetite but have managed to lose all the weight. Am actually a bit underweight again now but hopefully that will regulate when I stop bf (whenever that is!). Have also lost the Pamela boobs and am back to the spaniels ears I had post bf dd.

One handed feeding not a problem here, one advantage of the tiny boobs. Am very jealous of a well endowed friend of mine though who can just lie her ds on her lap, lift up her top a teensy bit and away he goes! I usually have to go for pulling top down as lifting it up means I am practically naked mine are so high!

NEWSFLASH!! Claireybee has had two consecutive good nights with her ds! Tuesday he screamed for 3 hours in the afternoon-resorted to giving him a teeny bit of calpol in the end cos something obviously hurt. Then wouldn't settle til 9pm but then slept until 3am! Thats 6 hours sleep and 7-8 without a feed! Then last night wouldn't settle til 10pm but slept until 3am again, and then until 6am! Hopefully now we can break the pattern of one good stretch then constant wakings. Your nights sound like our usual ones from 12am onwards BT.

Sushi, no real routine here-just bath ds sometime between 6 and 7 then feed him afterwards no matter what time his last feed was. Sometimes he'll sleep soon after, other times he won't settle for hours-is completely random!

DD puked everywhere this morning and seems very poorly. Hope ds doesn't get it but is probably inevitable...

claireybee · 21/02/2008 14:12

Am loving all the new pics too!

Beanstermummy · 21/02/2008 14:31

Ambi - we gave up on the baby bath after a couple of weeks - thought it was more to do with DD1 insisting on being in the bath also at all times - DD2 seems to really love the freedom to mooch around though - while trying to avoid her big sisters flailing and splashing feet that is.

Having a bit of success in the gradual move from swaddle blanket to grobag - started putting her down in it during the day and she's been ok so far today - just trying to get her to settle herself if she half wakes as she's recently found her fingers and thumb but obviously can't get to them if swaddled up - we shall see how it goes

FurryFox · 21/02/2008 14:40

We too don't really have a bed time routine. DD1 is a pain in the bum and will not go to sleep before 10pm even when she is exhausted DD2 usually needs to be held until she has her last feed at around 8/9/10/11/12 midnight but then usually does settle and sleeps through till the morning so can't complain

Amani - Glad you had a good night with dd2 last night, always helps

Claireybee - Glad you've had a couple of good nights too

I had my 8 week check today. My dr asked me if I had any PND, isn't he supposed to try and work that out or at least ask how I'm feeling? Lovely man though . DD had her first lot of jabs too. She didn't cry for the first one but the second she was not happy about and cried all the way home. She's just been quite hysterical after her last feed so have given her some calpol and now she is asleep.

Does anyone else think their baby may have colic? I think dd has had it since about 3 weeks old, showing the typical symptoms. She still cries a lot, especially in the evenings. We had been using infacol but it doesn't seem to make a difference anymore so I'm not sure whats wrong with her. Maybe she's just a bit moody

macdoodle · 21/02/2008 16:45

Gorgeous pics all but think I must have the fattest baby will post a pic soon as have a min

claraquitetirednow · 21/02/2008 20:04

Macdoodle - would love to see pics of your little one as she looks very like my Martha in the newborn pics (when she was born), we have the same amount of very dark hair.

Martha is also now quite a chubster. She weighed 12lb 11oz when weighed on Tuesday at 10 weeks. And has big hamster cheeks.

Wasn't it you who used the description "a porcelin dumpling" - that works well for her too.

cazzybabs · 21/02/2008 21:13

I love the pictures - Suey millie looks such a sweetie and so alert!

I am still co-sleeping with Evie much to dh's disgust (she may be my last so have to make the most of her...although may use it ammunition for a dc4) but at least I am more awake during the day. She grazes at night - 5 mintues here and there.

sushistar · 21/02/2008 22:08

cazzy, my ds is the same. Luckily dh doesn't mind! But if I sat up / got up to feed him each time he wanted i'd be a wreck - with co-sleeping the worst i have to do is roll him over to the other boob. But I worry about whether it'll be a nightmare getting him into his own bed eventually?

macdoodle · 21/02/2008 22:21

new photos of my fat smiley baby

buzzybee · 22/02/2008 01:47

Isn't it interesting to see the differences between boys and girls in our photos?! I was pleasantly surprised the other day when I woman in a shop told me I had a gorgeous wee girl despite the fact she was dressed in blue! I asked her how she knew and she said it was really obvious - and its true looking at the pictures even though most a still relatively hairless!

Feel myself coming down with a cold. P*ssed off as I can't think who I've come into contact with recently with a cold. Really hope the DDs don't get it - but Beatrix has been sleeping loads today so am wondering if that's an early sign...

Bouncingturtle · 22/02/2008 07:55

Well Daniel is still a bit snotty and sneezey but apart from that is in fine fettle.
Going to get him weighed today.
DH failed to keep me awake during feeding, but it didn't matter. Actually had a good night! DS work up at 11pm, I fed him and fell asleep and woke up at 1.20! I then put him in the Moses basket and stayed asleep another hour! Fed him again, nappy change and then back into his Moses basket at 3am but he woke again for a feed at 4am, again I fell asleep and we both woke up at 5.15, kept him on me though as he wouldn't settle but it was fine.

suey2 · 22/02/2008 08:08

gorgeous photo macdoo! Fabulous cheeks

macdoodle · 22/02/2008 09:36

wow best night so far - bit of cluser feed from 7-9 though am sure now some is comfort - down awake at 9 grizzled a bit but went off - didn't wake till 3am had good 20min feed straight back to sleep in basket - woke me at 5ish grunting and sucking but by the time I had gone to loo she had found her thumb and settled herself back to sleep ...woke with DD1 at 7:30 but didn't seem to want to feed had cuddle with big sis while I sorted school stuff then fed at 8am and played and pooed happily on mat while I showered.....just fed other side and napping on my lap...a star

claraquitetirednow · 22/02/2008 11:43

Wish I could download a pic but I am having to use the laptop at the moment and all the pics are on the proper computer....ALso last time I tried to download a pic I had to give up as I couldn't get it to work!!
