Personally Clara I spend an hour making something - then she eats it every day for the next two weeks . She's had a LOT of lentil stew lately!

justbeme · 22/02/2008 10:57

Hi all - havent caught up - still no computer - using a friends quickly.
We've still got thrush ( well my nips feel like they do). Daisy, Ive just been given cream for me and a different one for L - what about you?

nothing else much to report - oh L has 2 teeth now.
Hope you are all well.

foxythesnowman · 22/02/2008 11:13

Hello JBM! How is life? How is LOs weight doing?

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 22/02/2008 11:28

Hey jbm, Hope you are well (apart from the thrush that is).

Anyone heard from derlor or ria lately?

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 22/02/2008 11:38

GGGGRRRRRR AAAARRRRSSSSEEEE!!!

My new highchair has just arrived and the farking straps are too short for ds. I'm very pissed off.

HellHathNoFury · 22/02/2008 11:39

Hi Clara,
My DS eats 4 big meals a day with dessert.
I give him (literally) whatever we are having of an evening.

So last night he has salmon, carrots and a jacket potato.
The night before he had sausages, green beans and mash.
I cook every night really and he gets anything and everything.
Kormas, risottos, noodles, pies, pasta etc. I just don't salt while cooking and mush it up a bit before giving it to him.

Quick/ready meals I give him if we are having something spicy or with long grain rice (he hasn't quite got to grips with rice yet)so I tend to give him one of those heinz mums own bowls for 12m+ as they actually taste quite nice for baby food and still have lots of lumps which he likes.
Annabel Karmel is too expensive, sainsburys do a kids range that is much the same but half the price. Actually sainsburys basics do a good range that is surprisingly low in sugar and salt etc as well.

Another thing he likes is sardine/mackerel paste on bread, but my DS loves fish more than your average cat.

Scotch pancakes and crumpets make good snacks too.

I have learnt to stop worrying about food though. He gets the same as us - if he takes it, brill, if he doesn't he can have a bit of fruit or a rice cake instead and I just wait til the next mealtime.

HellHathNoFury · 22/02/2008 11:42

Derlor I think has waved goodbye to MN, sadly.

foxythesnowman · 22/02/2008 11:45

She's got the builders in so I think is a bit chaotic. Is she still on FB? I've abandoned FB, though I still have my account.

Don't know about Ria. Hope she is OK. She did have internet issues a while ago.

milkyJammy · 22/02/2008 11:48

Hi all

Bumper, she has (normal) milk with her cereal. I didn't think they were particularly sugary, but when you mentioned sugar levels it made me go and check So I think she'll only have them once in a while from now on.

Poor child got scared silly at the library when as part of the story everyone had to shout "Abracadabra". The boys sitting next to us were especially loud I think and poor C ended up in floods of tears

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 22/02/2008 11:49

Now you come to mention it I do remember ria had 'tinterweb ishoos.

I always think about marylou/catsuitgirl. Hope she is ok.

I hope kiddicare will take my highchair back, I am on live chat with them atm...fingers crossed.

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 22/02/2008 11:51

DD had a toasted teacake for brekkie today.

Hi JBM, sorry to hear about your thrush. What a PITA.

Should I still be analysing DD's poos. They are solid but very green atm, dark green. Should I be worried?

foxythesnowman · 22/02/2008 11:57

What has she been eating Bumper?

Wish you hadn't mentioned teacakes, am now regretting not ordering Hot Cross Buns in my shopping (which is waiting to be put away, but I can't be arsed).
My children are playing very nicely, but still want my attention which wasn't part of my plan. They are sorting EVERYTHING into 'piles'. I have no idea why.

milkyJammy · 22/02/2008 11:59

Nor sure yet what C will have to eat today. She had fish & peas last night and some organic mango rice pudding stuff, but that's all gone now. If what we've had for dinner is suitable I normally save her some for the next day, but there wasn't enough last night for that. Will prob do her (low sugsr/salt) baked beans and some bread for lunch, and finger food (breadstick, pear, cold meat) for tea.

milkyJammy · 22/02/2008 12:03

Holly, was it you that had probs with Dorel with straps being too short? I've just realised that they make the booster seat we bought last weekend which also has very short straps which don't fit round C's middle. We are going to try taking it back to Toys R Us tomorrow.

milkyJammy · 22/02/2008 12:05

Can you get the DC to put your shopping away Foxy?

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 22/02/2008 12:07

Hmm, pasta, blueberries (could that be it?), toast, banana.

A I bad mother. DD loves the remote controls so DH and I have given her an old one with the batteries taken out to play with. Is that a bad thing?

She's whinging now for now reason. Doesn't want food or milk. I would take her out in the push chair but I've got bread in the bread maker that need taking out in a bit. Mmmm warm bread and jam for my lunch!

milkyJammy · 22/02/2008 12:09

We have done the same thing re remote controls. But she doesn't want that one!

foxythesnowman · 22/02/2008 12:11

Because they'd snaffle all my treats Jammy!

Oh my buggers are all argueing. Can't hear Cash in the Attic. DS1 sent to his room. This idle day is more stressful than going out. But I'm soooo tired!

milkyJammy · 22/02/2008 12:12

Ah, that's my good idea scuppered then. Sorry.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 22/02/2008 12:13

They are trying to make me pay for the return delivery! They are not going to get away with it, I shall kick up a stink!

Yes it was me with the strap ishoos! I don't understand why companies seem to think all babies are the same size!

Fuckers, they are trying to squirm out of it! I am giving the operator what for. He is saying they only to free returns if it is a manufacturing fault. Well it is not a manufacturing fault it is a design fault. So they should bloody well just take the fucking thing back!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 22/02/2008 12:14

Here is my convo with the operator-

Team 11: Hi, my name is Team 11. How may I help you?
You: I have just taken delivery of a highchair and the straps are too short for my 8 month old son. Even on the longest setting they don't do up. Can I return it please?
Team 11: Yes. You will need to click the Returns button at the top of the home page to get a returns number the item can then be returned for a refund.
Team 11: Do you require any further assistance?
You: Can you please arrange to get it collected from me? I should not have to pay for return delivery of a product that is not fit for the purpose I bought it for.
Team 11: If you feel that the item is faulty/has a manufacturing fault we can collect this from you and this shall be looked in to when it is back. If it is found to have a manufacturing fault you shall be refunded in full. If it is found to be as it should be you would be refunding minus the cost of return.
Team 11: We have sold a lot of these highchairs previously and never had the same problem reported?
You: I have just looked at the reviews of this product on your website and on one of the reviews it does mention that the straps are not long enough. This is not a manufacturing fault as such, it is just not designed very well. It is a design fault. My son is 8 months old and should surely be able to fit in a highchair.
Team 11: If you feel that the item is not suitable for you then it is at your own cost to return it. If you feel that the item is faulty we can collect it and have a look at it?
Team 11: We are unable to cover the cost of returns if the item is as it should be but you have found it not to be suitable for you.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 22/02/2008 12:15

What do I say now?

milkyJammy · 22/02/2008 12:21

That's pants Holly!

I emailed to say that the straps didn't fit and that we were puzzled by this and could it be that the straps were wrong, and just got a reply to say we had to go back to the retailer as this is who we had a contract with. So not impressed, but we are going back to say it is not fit for purpose so we want a refund. But yes, the onus is on us to take the time and pay for the fuel to take it back. I know it's not that far, but it's an hour's round trip, plus time in the store and to be honest it's something we could do without having to fit in.

HellHathNoFury · 22/02/2008 12:22

I was chatting to Derlor a while back and she said she has kind of abandoned MN.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 22/02/2008 12:24

I'm really fucking angry now! I've just spoken to Graco and all they keep saying is our highchairs are manufactured to British Standard and we don't do harness extensions.

Why should I have to pay £10 or so to return the bloody thing?
