Morning Jammy ....are the ABs working (for you I mean - I know they're working on C )

HellHathNoFury · 14/02/2008 09:02

Morning all
I despair

Unless I give DS a second FULL dinner (ie a proper meal) at 7pm he wakes 4 times in the night. DH and I are the living dead. Surely this cannot be normal. His first full dinner is at nursery at 4pm.

Even 2 bottles of milk before bed don't cut it.

Have I given birth to a feeding monster?
Help... I am so tired I swear I am going to get the sack soon

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 14/02/2008 09:14

Morning norty, jammy, fairy, fury etc.

Fury, no advice I don't think, except could he be having too much milk which is maybe giving him a poorly tummy?

Norty, glad the work thing is working out for you. Are you getting the best of both worlds or the worst of both worlds [crapping myself about going back to work emoticon].

Jammy how is your work going (apart from the being ill bit)?

HellHathNoFury · 14/02/2008 09:17

I don't think he has a bad tummy - I just think he consumes more food than is reasonable for a baby and he wants more more more all the time!
Honeslty I swear to you he eats more than me. And still wants more at night.

Bumper you are def going back then?

LittleMissNorty · 14/02/2008 09:25

oh Bumper - definitely the best of both worlds - I'm very lucky though in that I love my job - I was very much the career woman before DD and although she (and DH) are my world now, I wouldn't consider staying at home full-time - its just not me. Personally, I get so much more done when I have less time to do it - at home and at work.

Fury - does DS not have a full meal at lunchtime? My DD has dropped down to 3 (large) bottles a day but appetite for solids is really increasing now I notice and sometimes give her a mid-morning / afternoon snack to keep her going.

LittleMissNorty · 14/02/2008 09:26

got me bolds mixed up there best I meant

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 14/02/2008 09:29

Fury I've gotta go back, need the pennies!

Stupid question alert: how do you know they are hungry for solids? I guess because I am still bfing if I think DD is hungry I wop a boob out rather than give her solids first.

HellHathNoFury · 14/02/2008 09:29

Hey Norty
DS has porridge and fruit for breakfast at 8
a big meal and a yoghurt for lunch at 12
a big meal and fruit/custard/yoghurt/cake etc for dinner at 4
milk in between

I get him home at 6.15 at which point he is ravenous. If I give him anything less than ANOTHER full meal plus dessert he wakes 4 times in the night.

HellHathNoFury · 14/02/2008 09:30

hmm bumper I don't know - I just offer him solids at 'mealtimes' and milk any other time.

HellHathNoFury · 14/02/2008 09:33

although tbh now he is sodding massive and crawling like mad, standing, weighs I think it is 24/25lbs and just starting in 12 month+ clothes, depending on where you buy them.
So perhaps he is just needing the energy and hungry.

LittleMissNorty · 14/02/2008 09:36

Same here- DD gets milk at 6.30am, breakfast (weetabix and milk) at 7-8ish, lunch at 11.30, bottle at 2.30, tea at 4.30 and milk before bed at 6.30pm. If she is hungry, she is offered solids, and if she is thirsty she gets water from a cup. If she clears her plate in double quick time, I assume I'm not giving her enough....not very scientific eh?

Fury - if another meal helps him sleep through, why can't he have it? All the moving around will ensure he's active enough to curn it off.

Gotta go and wake DD, she's been asleep for over an hour - a nap is all its supposed to be

LittleMissNorty · 14/02/2008 09:36

burn it off - god typing is shit today!

HellHathNoFury · 14/02/2008 09:39

Norty he can have it - it's just usually he is tired and grizzly and sometimes screamy at that time of day (he doesn't nap well at nursery) and fitting another meal in as well as a bath if needed is a bit traumatic for us all!

HellHathNoFury · 14/02/2008 09:40

Plus I am cooking dinner, we are all just in from work, it's a bit frantic. And I was just wondering if it was normal to have to give them 4 full meals a day?

HellHathNoFury · 14/02/2008 09:41

On that note - I had a 'Heinz Duet' baby breakfast as an emergency jar in the cupboard which was handy as I needed it the other day... and it's lush!! I am going to start buying them for ME!!

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 14/02/2008 09:45

Ewww what was in it fury? Bet it's more expensive than a croissant!

HellHathNoFury · 14/02/2008 09:47

yoghurt, fruit and oats! it's yummy!

Sputnik · 14/02/2008 09:49

Morning all. I've been without internet for 3 whole days, as they cut our phone line for a bill which had been paid, then "lost" the fax we sent, grr grr grr. Anyway, I hope you all missed me. I was forced to clean and watch television.

Anyway, congratulations on dropping a dress size Fury, and also to Bumper for er, taking the plunge.

I see I missed a bunch of pram talk then.

LittleMissNorty · 14/02/2008 09:56

Hello Sputnik - was wondering where you were ....god cleaning ...I'm supposed to be doing some of that

Know what you mean about the getting home bit Fury, its pretty chaotic here as well and the thought of adding another meal to it! That would definately be a get a jar out of the cupboard moment for me

HellHathNoFury · 14/02/2008 09:56

sorry I lie! Hipp organic duets!
Hi Sputnik!

HellHathNoFury · 14/02/2008 09:58

Yes he generally has jars that time of night - I simply can't cook a meal in time for him most of the time.

LittleMissNorty · 14/02/2008 09:58

and I know what that grizzly / screaming mood is like as well after a long day at the nursery ....when all you want is to sit down for 5 mins with a cup of tea....If I'm on bath duty, I take my tea up to the bathroom with me...god its such a hard life being a baby isn't it

HellHathNoFury · 14/02/2008 10:01

Actually I lie (again). He has the Heinz Mums own range from 12months+. They taste a bit cornfloury but a minute in the microwave, job done, and he doesn't seem to mind them at all.
He does prefer home cooking obviously but they are a good second best.

HellHathNoFury · 14/02/2008 10:03

anyway I have to go and work now - I have had 2 more projects lumped on to me.
They either think I'm brill so give me more work, or they see me surf all day and think I am bored so give me more work. I am going with the latter.

Sputnik · 14/02/2008 10:09

I am off to workout [smug]
