I was tempted to write the subject with reference to NM .

Sorry sorry, been so caught up with rl I've only had time for quick posts here and there rather than actually having a proper read through everything & replying to everyone.

Firstly of course congratulations Bethoo!

Diva how is everything with your dd1 now?

Muppet, best wishes to your sister.

Piffle and Kitty how are you both getting on with your various pains and illnesses? Is anything working?

Jay & Shanks it is great to here how you are both doing; can't believe how fast it's gone!!

Hi everyone else... Rosy have posted on your thread fwiw.

Busy here, dh's eye has gone really bad again but the NHS eye clinic has been absolutely awful. They should never have discharged him last time without a proper test (but they did) and now he is having real problems. So it is a good job I am back at paid work now, as we are going to go private. His other eye is a lazy eye and is almost useless so if he loses sight in this eye he would basically be blind. He has already been told he should not use computers regularly so where this puts him with his work we're not sure, occupational health are meant to be assessing him but haven't gotten around to him yet which means..... he's using the computer lots and making it worse .

fitfox · 03/02/2008 12:02

Bethoo congratulations!!!!!

!!

That's lovely and I'm glad all that shagging paid off !!

Feeling a bit as Monti has been up all nighting vomming - had to change the bed several times.

Just finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns (about two women in Afghanistan) which was very harrowing, although brilliantly written of course.

Will try and catch up...

evenhope · 03/02/2008 13:47

Congratulations Bethoo I've lost track- is your DP an ex now?

RTP that sounds dodgy about DH's eye.

Well I don't know if it's teeth but DD had 7 dirty nappies yesterday and has already dirtied 3 today. She is so sore, despite loads of cream. It's really runny- liquid- and sweet smelling. Anyone know how long it will go on for?

Her nose is constantly running and she's coughing non-stop. She actually slept from 12.20 to 5.20am last night so I feel like I've had some sleep, but I'm wondering what to do with her. Her nose has been running since about September! The other babies at Toddlers don't seem to get it this much. Every time we go to the GP (which is almost impossible as it is) they say it's viral and nothing they can do. Everyone else seems to get ABs.

She seems to be better on a Monday, then Tuesday afternoon it starts again

bethoo · 03/02/2008 14:40

thanks everyone for yuor kind wishes. i am getting really excited and though earlier i said i would be prepared for which ever way this pregnancy takes i know that now i will be gutted if i m/c. i have concerns as i do not have any symptoms yet and still get AF like twinges, not paingul just aware they are there if you know what i mean? do you think that becausei am still bf i cant notice my boobs changing?? i will be 5 weeks tomorrow so could it be a bit early for symptoms yet???

muppetisacat · 03/02/2008 18:33

bethoo - try not to panic - don't know how still bfding affects pregnancy as i've never been in that boat b4 but i'm pretty sure a couple of our ladies here will have been - sure they can advise better than i! My sis will (hopefully) be 6 weeks tomorrow when she goes for all her miscarry tests and she's not really got any symptoms yet.

foxy - I'm only a few chapters into A Thousand Splendid Suns... enjoying it but does it get really sad? Got feelings it could go SO BADLY WRONG for her...

Evenhope - Samuel has nappies like that when he's teething... lasts for a few days... but also if she's poorly it could be that. What we all need is a dose of sunshine.

Polar - sorry to hear about your dh. Will you be able to see someone really quickly privately?

Sorry to anyone i've missed - not much time this weekend... will try to read thread properly now...

bethoo · 03/02/2008 19:01

Muppet - thanks though i am still convinced it is not a good sign as i keep thinking back to my missed m/c when it was just painful cramps from conception to actually bleeding. i am just so aware of these twinges, i am already having bloatedness and slight constipation so hopefully that is why i have cramps. i will be thinking of your sister and hope it goes well for her.
i do not know whether to wait until i am about 9 -10 weeks to register with gp incase i bleed before then. or just go ahead anyway. i hate the first trimester as it is just waiting for the worst to happen (it is for me!)

fitfox · 03/02/2008 19:59

Evenhope IKWYM - Monti has had a runny nose since about June

Bethoo - its still very early days, your hormones are probably still adjusting themselves. At your stage I always wish the nausea would start so it all seems real

Muppet - No spoilers on the book I'm afraid. It has affected me a lot. I found myself very tearful this morning at church, thinking about the terrible lives some girls/women have in places where they effectively have no rights . Tell me when you've finished it - I'd be interestd to know what you think

bethoo · 03/02/2008 20:09

Fitfox- i know, i look forward to it then when the nausea comes oi wish i had not!! catch 22

Callieco · 03/02/2008 20:28

Evenhope - much sympathy. I'm getting it too. Jordi got another cold last week and has coughed so much he's been sick about four times after eating, and is also having trouble eating, choking lots, because we think he's got a sore throat.... oh and did I mention the conjunctivitis last post??? Aargghh!!!! DP has to pin him down while I force his eyelids open and put drops in twice a day. It's horrible. I'm dreading taking him to nursery tomorrow in case they send him straight home again.

On that note, DP had Jordi for the first time all day on saturday as I had to work. It went ok, but then he (DS) did sleep for two hours in the morning and an hour in the afternoon, so not too taxing!

Polar bear, that's bad news about your DH's eyes. His work do have a legal duty to protect his health, and they should be sorting him out asap - if they're not, are there any union reps in his place of work who can lean on management?

I had some sad news last night. A schoolfriend, who's also the daughter of a friend of my mum's, died last week of breast cancer. She was only 37/8. I worked for her mum one summer when I was home from university, and did a sandwich round delivering to workplaces, so we used to be loading up our vans together every morning. We weren't really close friends or anything - I don't think I've seen her for about 15 years - but I've known her family most of my life, and indeed went out with her elder brother for a short period in school. It really upset me, I think probably more now because of having Jordi and knowing she has two young kids. It seems so unfair. Life is so randomly cruel sometimes.

Rosy, I had a dream last night that I went to this house somewhere and a woman was giving birth. At first, the woman looked like an actress I recognise from telly but then it turned into you, even though it didn't look anything much like the pictures I've seen of you. I just knew it was somehow. You'd better hope I haven't suddenly turned into a prophetic dreamer (or maybe you should?!).

bethoo · 03/02/2008 20:33

Callie - i know what you mean. when Hayden has conjunctivitus i jsut rubbed the cream into his eyelashes and hope for the best! it worked as cleared up and o na positive note it is now used for my dogs face!!

bethoo · 03/02/2008 20:39

Callie- sorry to hear about your friend. sometimes it takes someone we know dying to realise just how precious life is and how it can be taken away so easily.

Divastrop · 03/02/2008 20:49

callie-is there anyone you can borrow some breast milk from?

dd2 had conjunctivitis constantly for the first 6 months.the only time it was ever clear was when she was on very strong AB's in hospital.

about your friend.so young.

evenhope-if the runny poo carries on for another day i would go to the doctor.very watery/strange smelling poo could be rotavirus, which can go on for up to 10 days.

Elsie has had a constant snotty nose since the other dc went back to school in september.this weather doesnt help, with having to have the heating on all the time and not being able to get them out in the fresh air.

mossy-hope dh's eye gets sorted.

bethoo-i never got any symptoms untill week 6 with any of them.i also got lots of pain and cramps in the first couple of weeks.i registered with the MW as soon as i found out with ds2,dd2 and Elsie, and i had early scans with all of them as i was in so much pain the gp had to check they werent ectopics.it was always a relief to see the little heartbeat at a 6 week scan

foxy-pmsl@'all that shagging paid off'

bethoo · 03/02/2008 21:03

Diva - do you think if i registered now with GP i could get an early scan too? would hate to have another missed m/c. was going to wait til 10 weeks, if no bleeding by then then i would register.

Piffle · 03/02/2008 21:12

Crikey a girl takes a weekend break and golly all this news!

Bethoo hope the aches and pains have died down. I also hated the first few months, I
was am a worrier.
Mossy sorry about DH's eye, one step fwd, six back. Have you got a private clinic to get into soon?

Finn has always had watery gross and numerous nappies when teething, esp getting teeth 5 and 6 (no idea why they were so bad though) went after 2-3 days.

Callie the rugby was AWESOME! Am amazed at how everyone here who works does it tbh... I'd be a liability I know I would. Sorry to hear your sad news too So very young.

Foxy is Monti any better? Have you cleared your washing down yet? Grim...

Fingers crossed everyone gets well soon!

Can report I am MUCH better, the physio taped my lower back up for 48hrs support and it worked a treat, can now do most things at 60% pain not increasing, nor is it constant. Phew!

Divastrop · 03/02/2008 21:13

bethoo-well,i did every time i saw the gp at 5 weeks complaining of one-sided pain and cramps.i did lay it on a bit thick hoping for a scan with dd2,as i was very paranoid as i had drunk excessive alcohol just before my af was due.
i dont think i'd even registered with the MW when i had the scan with Elsie.i had gone to the GP because i was in severe pain, she did a test which was + and promptly sent me to the EPU.

spicemonster · 03/02/2008 21:19

bethoo - it wouldn't hurt to ask your GP surely? I had two early scans with Elliot as I'd had a missed m/c with my last pregnancy and was absolutely paranoid. I had them at the clinic but if I hadn't been going there, I would have hassled my GP I know what you mean about wanting the sickness to start although it's horrible when it does! I will keep all my fingers and toes crossed for you.

Polar - that is a good idea of Callie's to get your DH to speak to work. They have to comply with H&S regs and look after his wellbeing. Poor him

Sorry to hear about your friend Callie - I had a similar thing happen to me a while ago and it's such a shock. Was an ex of mine who died while surfing (they think he had a heart attack). He also had 2 children. Very sad.

We are snot city here too - seems to have been endless although the nappies haven't been too bad today. I have been trying to give E saline drops as I read recently that they help them get over colds quicker, not just loosen the mucus but he hates me doing it so much that I feel terrible.

Can't believe some of you are about to have another baby so soon! I am very impressed - I'd be in a right panic

bethoo · 03/02/2008 21:35

spicemonster - sometimes i think they treat you like an idiot and some mws/gps can be dismissive saying you cant stop it but to be honest i would rather know now than at my 12 week scan all excited only to be told it died. i am sure they think i am overacting!!!

kiwibella · 03/02/2008 22:00

Piffle, I enjoyed the England / Wales game yesterday - especially the second half... what a shocker!! I've been here too long to be following the six nations too . Glad that you are feeling much better .

Diva... I'm going to make a doctors appt tomorrow . We've had those nappies for a while now and I put it down to the stomach bug which both girls had last week, lots of breastfeeding and no eating real food, and teething. They are gross but maybe my baby is sick????

Did you say previously that you had your af when you were preggers or you had symptoms???

Callie - sorry for your news, it's always such a shock.

Mossy - poor dh... I hope he is able to get his sight sorted soon without impacting his vision.

Lots of love for those suffering with snotty noses and spewy tums. It's not a fun time of year... bring on the sunshine.

Evenhope... are you off 'down-under' shortly?

OP posts:
spicemonster · 03/02/2008 22:27

bethoo - I know exactly how you feel. That's how I found out at my 12 week scan and it was absolutely dreadful. Could you afford to pay for a private scan? I think that's what I'd do if I ever got pg again. 3 months feels like forever when you've been through it once.

bethoo · 04/02/2008 08:17

spice-ow much does a private scan cost? i have my doppler but that does not work til 10weeks. i think i may have to say i am bleeding at about 8 or 9 weeks if i get that 'gut' feeling something is not right

spicemonster · 04/02/2008 08:58

It's £110 at the clinic where I had my treatment bethoo but it is probably cheaper outside London

kittywise · 04/02/2008 09:54

bethoo, because i've had so many missed m/c I always pushed for early scans. Despite my history I still had to insist.
I'm with you that I would rather know. With ronnie I had a scan at 8 weeks and I was so relieved to see a live baby there.
The first 12 weeks are certainly very nerve wracking.

Callie so sorry to hear about your friend

Kiwi it's always worth going to the gp if you think something is wrong, I hope she gets better soon.

Mossy that's awful news about your dh. Sometimes the nhs can be so bloody useless.
I have very little trust in so called 'experts' now. I think most of them just do the thing that's easiest for them. They don't care whether it's the right thing or not.

Hello everyone else

Rosylily · 04/02/2008 10:40

Reverssy, that must be a big worry for your dh. Eyesight is so important. I hope it can be treated and helped.

Callie that is sad and shocking about your friend aw I would hate to go now and leave behind little children.

And Callie I'm definately not having anymore babies not unless there is a freak one trillion to one surprise in store for me You were probably transferring in the dream and maybe you are pregnant????????

I really hope that everyone starts to feel better soon. It has been a hard winter for one bug after another.

fitfox · 04/02/2008 11:45

PIFFLE - I'M SO GLAD oops - your pain is reducing

excuse typos - chubba on lap

he is still vomiting - twice this morning after BFs

his poo has reverted to newborn mustard pastey poo, as he has had nothing but breast milk and dioralyte since Sunday night

Bethoo - my private scan was £150. worth every penny for the peace of mind

Divastrop · 04/02/2008 12:10

bella-i never went to the gp the 2nd and 3rd times ds2 had rotavirus,as there is nothing they can do,and as long as they are getting plenty of fluids and arent showing signs of dehydration then its fine.

bethoo-i have never had a m/c but i was still paranoid for the first 12 weeks.even after having early scans i was still convinced i would be told something was wrong at the 12 week scan.
there is a woman at mum+toddler who is pregnant and she didnt even bother registering with a mw untill she was 16 weeks.she wasnt in the slightest bit worried.i wish i could have been like that
