Well, Jordi is our first one year old.... they will be catching up soon .

I was tempted to write the subject with reference to NM .

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Rosylily · 08/03/2008 11:58

reverssy he is eating a bit more solid food and loves his cup of fruit juice- still bfs loads but i'm not struggling with it now. It is going to be so handy that i'm breast feeding in pakistan too.

Diva i'm sorry to hear you are struggling without the ads and i hope things pick up soon.

Piffle · 08/03/2008 12:48

Feeding here loads too. At least 6-7 day and... Yep night. The first two self weaned at 16 mths can see similar here although Finn feeding much more at one yr than they did.

Callieco · 08/03/2008 20:28

Hello all, sorry have not been around much. Have had lurgy here too, and then have been away for a couple of nights. Feeling very knackered now because the place we stayed in last night was very warm and neither of us slept very well.

Diva, at least Elsie sits. Jordi still doesn't properly. Took him to the docs the other day for a recall on his eight-month check, and she said it was surprising because he can do stuff like get around in his walker. He's seeing the paediatrician next week for his one year (adjusted) check, so she said to see what they say. I hope he gets referred for a full assessment, because I think even if there is nothing wrong a bit of physiotherapy couldn't hurt. It's very tiring for me because not only do I have to carry him everywhere as he's obviously not walking or crawling, but I have to sit with him to play stuff if I want him to try to sit up, and support him. And he weighs 24.5 lbs. Not the lightest weight to bear. It should have been his first birthday today (assuming he arrived on time and on EDD!). Happy birthday to Samuel and Monti so far, and I believe it's Elsie's birthday tomorrow, isn't it? Or was that your due date, Diva?

Piffle · 08/03/2008 20:59

well worth pressing for callie. Dd had low muscle tone and was very late sitting upright. Late crawling late walking. Infact she did commando crawl at 11 mths slowly and could weight bear. But just wanted to reassure you that early milestones pale into insignificance as they age. Bow at school aged 5 she is not as physically agile as her peers but does not stand out as different to them or an observer. So while it will really concern you now trust me it does become less worrying! Tell us some of the cute stuff he does, go on

Divastrop · 08/03/2008 21:10

callie-my HV with dd1 told me she was late sitting up because of having a baby walker.i dont know how true it was but she did start to sit about 2 weeks after i threw it out.Elsie only started sitting up properly without support about 3 weeks ago.before that she would sit for a few seconds before laying back down and moving off.it's true what piffle says-you will hardly remember in a couple of years what he did and when.dd2 didnt walk untill 19 months, now she is 2.3 and can run up and down the stairs,as well as pulling chairs over to the high shelves to try and reach the lego.

yes,its Elsie's birthday tomorrow.where the hell did that year go?!?

spongecake · 08/03/2008 21:45

rosy, diva, reversey, thanks for the nice message i may take up on the chat advice, although don't use fb anymore

diva, i am a bit nervous of posting on here about my woes except this thread. am sure will get slapped, like i did that time when someone told me midwives weren't there to help and support women after birth and i was pathetic to have needed someone to help after my cs.

diva, i hope you feel better- you have a lot on tbh, and not much time for you that is planned

my hv advised me not to get a baby walker as she said they can slow development/ may mess with hips and have been banned in one country (can't remember which one)maybe Holland. have no idea if this is true, mind and don;t want to upset anyone.

fitfox · 08/03/2008 22:40

Sponge - do you mean snot suckers? I've used them and they were rubbish (or maybe I'm just not adept at sucking snot)

Jay - oooh won't be long now! [excited emoticon)

Kitty - great that Ronnie is feeling less frustrated now and more of a happy chappy

Piff _ Monti doesn't realise when he's walking, then suddenly does realise, which is quite funny

[hugs] Diva

gotta go - Chubba calling...

Rosylily · 08/03/2008 22:50

callie my ds1 was also later to walk and loved his walkie, would jordi be very sad if you confiscate his toy? He'll maybe be doubly frustrated when he's used to being mobile in the walkie?

Sponge those comments on your thread must have been painful and unhelpful and wrong too. yeah no point laying yourself bare on mn when you are feeling fragile.

spongecake · 08/03/2008 23:21

fitfox, i mean a little pot of saline solution that the chemist gave me- i can't bring myself to squirt it up his nose tbh, might get dh to do it

am feeling better just been doing some online shopping also can't go to loo as might wake up ds just creeping up the stairs. dh has suggested bucket outside. am tempted as he wakes up all the time

ReverseThePolarity · 09/03/2008 07:47

Sponge, we have a chamber pot! (Seriously we do, as our loo is downstairs and there's an airlock of babygates to get to...)

Feel free to chat, my email is on FB if you prefer a more traditional approach

Diva happy birthday for Elsie!

Callie isn't it funny the way they develop at different rates but for different things? When Bertie sat very early I could've sworn he'd be crawling at six months or something... but he's only recently managed it.

By the time these babies are all three they'll all be doing the same things, Jordi included.

I don't know about walkers btw: because Bertie is so little his feet still don't touch the floor when he's in his!

There's one milestone Bertie won't reach for quite some time I feel. Sleeping through the night!

Diva I can't believe that silly woman thinks her baby is all that because her baby can walk early. Poor bugger probably only learned to walk so she could run away from the ear piercing machine!

Right, off to have a nice hot bath. I wonder where Jay is right now?

Rosylily · 09/03/2008 10:50

hmm wonder how jay is getting on?

Happy birthday Elsie! Have a fun day diva!

We are a sick house here. Everyone is coughing and snotty and hasan is being a whingebucket.
He's all clingy and doesn't want to be put down.

Sponge retail therapy is great isn't it?
I got some scrumptious clothes from vertbaudet the other day.

I've been digging out my shalwar kamiz suits for wearing in pakistan. They fit okay thank goodness.

kittywise · 09/03/2008 11:04

Happy birthday Elsie xxxxxxxx

Hello all

I think I am the devil witch from hell.
I've been forgetting to take the starflower oil for pmt and boy have I noticed the difference!

Divastrop · 09/03/2008 20:59

thanks for the birthday wishes for Elsie.it's officially her birthday at 9.56(i clearly remember being very upset when told i was only 6cm dilated at 9.44 lol).she had a nice day,i think,i wanted to do something different but i thought she would prefer a stress-free mummy over going somwhere interesting(i was getting anxious at the thought of going somewhere i'd not been before)so we just went to mcdonalds and then to the big park, and had a little party at home(its handy having lots of kids sometimes).

sponge-i have used those saline drops lots of times, especially on dd2 when she was poorly.IME they just sneeze after you put them in,hopefully resulting in a large greeny.i thought they were used for small babies(0-6months) who cant sit up and so the gunge doesnt 'flow' though.

kitty-i am currently experimenting with calcium and magnesium for PMT.i did casually mention gender-reallignment surgery to my doctor the other day but i dont think she took me seriously.i would love to be a man though,i cant see any negatives in being male

mossy-i should have said that to that woman, about the walking/earrings

kittywise · 09/03/2008 22:35

Callie, I'm no expert but it does seem a tad strange that Jodi isn't sitting yet and I think it's well worth pushing for an opinion. good luck with it.
Diva, cool that you all had a good day. I was thinking about you today and wondering how everything was with your new (ish) neighbours after that horrible time you had when you moved into your house ?

How are you feeling sponge?
Ronnie has turned into lovely happy chappie now. He runs up and down the corridors shrieking and laughing. It's so funny to be getting on with something then out of the corner of my eye I see this little figure walking past, getting on with whatever he's getting on with.
Tomorrow he's got another physio appt for his wry neck but tbh I think his bowen massage sessions have done the trick. I've not been arsed to do any of the stretching exercises, too lazy.
Hope everyone's had a good weekend.

spongecake · 09/03/2008 23:08

hi there- thanks for all the kind words, reversy, thats nice of you, will e you.
am dreading this week- its cheltenham races and dh will be so busy- can't believe i had ds in the middle of it last year hahahaa

am losing it-usually am really organised and am doing crap like losing forms, posting letters without stamps, forgetting stuff.

all the babies charging round sound so sweet

has anyone seen any useful vaccination threads? the hv has said that the mmar is due and is keen to have ds one jab- she won;t discuss having them separately

fitfox · 10/03/2008 12:11

Happy belated Birthday Elsie !!! Hope you had a lovely time and your mummy gave you some cake

Sponge we had seperate vaccines done for all of ours. Lots of places do them now but they are expensive (approx £80 each)

We have used walkers for all of ours and to be perfectly homest I think the idea that they can damage children is B*llx as long as they are used sensibly (i.e. don't leave DC in them all day every day). Mine all walked well (DD at 9 months) after being in walker. The biggest danger is if they are somewhere where there is a rick of tumvling down steps in the walker (but that risk would be the same without the walker). IMHO they aid independence and walking and they are very handy (many have toy/eating trays). If you buy one I would advise a light one which folds flat, not a heavy fancy one.

Rosy - glad your clothes still fit LOL - are you looking forward to going?

Kitty - I keep thinking of you, is everything OK? I think its 'cos spring is coming and fine weather always makes me thnk of Brighton

Jaysthird · 10/03/2008 12:57

Quick update

still here, still with child, 9 days over ( 13 by my dates) fed up, pissed off, sad, angry, frustrated...blah de blah....

Induction looms...

kittywise · 10/03/2008 13:23

Foxy, I'm ok thanks, much better now that Ronnie is happy!

I've made up my mind that I don't want to be with dp any more but we have to sell the house, which will take a while, so we're muddling along as best we can.

How are you all?

Isn't it time for another meet up?

Jay, sending labour vibes your way, be patient!!! ( don't slap me!!)

Sponge, why don't you have a chat with you gp?

spongecake · 10/03/2008 15:50

kitty, i must make an appointment- i was going to see the hv in a week or so anyway, and a doctor is always there during the surgery visits, so i will bring it up then. my dh says to tell her its our choice and not up for discussion (she is very determined lady)

ronnie sounds very happy! we have been trapped at home with this weather-ds has gone to bed for a bit.

rosy, when are you off? am off to see mil in april, but we are having a few days on our own as well.

diva, i read your last note and you made me laugh re being a man

Divastrop · 10/03/2008 16:15

foxy-i put the about the baby walker thing as the HV at the time was stressing about dd1 not sitting alone at 8 months.dont know what she would have made of the last 3,who all sat at about 10/11 months(and not a walker in sight!).i got rid of dd1's because it wasnt a great thing to have with a 17 month old around as well.

kitty-have i missed something?.i didnt know you and your dp had decided to split

jay-more labour vibes here ((((((((

sponge-the mmr threads on here tend to end up like most others-ie in a huge row with people either being totally against them or those that say parents who dont vaccinate are selfish etc.this is a useful site for info on single vaccines, but dont read the forums.

i took the lo's on the train in the double buggy this morning to see ds1 and dd1 doing a poetry recital in the south cumbria music festival.dd2 went into toddler mode after 20 mins though, and i got alot of dissaproving looks from the snotty judges.i was just chuffed i managed to get the buggy on the train with no problems,as it means i can get out of this god forsaken shithole once in a while.

fitfox · 10/03/2008 18:28

Kitty now I know why I was thinking of you!!!!!!!!!!!! Collective conciousness and all that [hippy emoticon]

I am going through something similar here - I believe that DH of 17 yrs is planning to leave me...

How do you feel? have you told him? How has he reacted?

I'm not sure what is going on here - it may be retrievable but I found out he is very unhappy.

Am feeling pretty dazed and

Anyhow we may pop down to Brighton May bank holiday (either one dep on weather) if you fancy meeting up for a cuppa.

Diva - now I get you about the walker

Divastrop · 10/03/2008 19:56

foxy-has something changed that you are aware of?

i realised my first walker post sounded like i actually listened to a HV..no,i was living at my mothers at the time, and she has a step down into her kitchen.

i suppose i better go and pick up ds1 and dd1 from school.dh is having a good laugh on wow.

Piffle · 10/03/2008 20:11

bloody hell... Kitty are you going to cope ok? Thats a log of kids on your own... Not that he did much though I guess?
foxy? Are you ok? May bank holiday eh? Fancy another possibly? So hope you and dh can do something to try and save things if that's what you want.
diva brave of you to step out with the kids! Is where you live as woeful as you make it sound?
and walkers... All 3... All ok. Dd was late at everything anyway... Finn and max, well they're in a hurry!!!
jays praying that little Tyke exits pronto.
sponge I don't do mmr. Ds1 had anaphylactic reaction so dd was a hospital vacc. However she got measles the week of her jabs do we never bothered. And I'm not going to for Finn either!

muppetisacat · 10/03/2008 20:15

bollocks ladies... sorry to hear of various partner problems ...

Kitty - you sound as though you've made your mind up... is it a weight off your shoulders? If it is then you know you're probably doing the right thing.

Foxy - how do you suddenly know your dh is unhappy? Sometimes it can just be that stuff is going on at work, there isn't enough time to have a life together any more, kids always seem to take priority etc etc etc... men can find this all really hard to deal with can't they? Hope things improve I really do.

Jay - feel for you too... it's just maddening for you. Did you say you could get another sweep done if necessary?

TheBlonde · 10/03/2008 20:17

Mossy - I am still here, just lurking mostly

Foxy - Sorry to hear that, hope you can sort things out

Jay - Sending you gentle birthing vibes

Kitty - hope you are okay, glad to hear Ronnie is getting better

Diva - does your DH work?

Sponge - I think the NHS staff often won't even discuss single jabs as they have targets to meet. Diva's site is a good info source. Mine have had the MMR but I appreciate why people choose singles or no immunisation
