Heehee thought I'd start the new thread. there seemed to be a recurring theme from everyone's recent posts - hence the title.

Hope everyone's well and that you found us without too much trouble

Evening ladies. I was looking at the photos of one of our meet ups ysterday. The one at The Giraffe? Wow seems such a long time a go. Well have to try and do another meet up some how. Maybe some of us with double buggies though!
I might be in a copy of Practical Parenting. I was looking on birth announcements to see if samsam was on it and one of the htreads said if anyone has had an unusual birth to email this woman. So I did. Turns out shes a freelance journalist and she wants to get in touch to arrange a photo shoot . Will keep you posted what issue it will be.
Cant wait.
Well thats my bit of news. Hope you are all ok.

babyducky · 03/03/2008 20:33

evening all,

glad the scan went well rumpel,
Ive got rid of all my cleaning stuff & made my own air freshener thingy! & havent been using softener.

His skin is perfectly clear at the mo, maybe its to do with that, or maybe its the new cream the doc gave me, dunno but it looks great & he seems a lot happier.

pl- i love names that are a bit different, what is your dd's name? Is it hope? Or am i thinking of someone else?

Yeah i was due 31st oct, & was one of the last ones on our thread, had him on 3rd nov, it seemed like i was waiting ages!

how exciting gingeme, let us know!
hows george?

Hi all, quick birth story.
Was admitted at 6pm on Friday 29th to be induced. Basically was about to be giving the first lot of prostin gel and as the midwife did the examination I haemorraged. That was it, couldn't get off the bed was wheeled thru to delivery ward where I was probably going to be given a c-section within an hour. Was given an emergency scan and there was no real cause seen so it was decided to leave me for two hours for monitoring.
They decided to break my waters at 10pm as bleeding stopped but apparently they had already gone. was then left till 2am when they started the hormone drip. they start at 1ml per hour and increase as needed. It was increased and increased up to its maximum of 20ml and hour- apparently hardly no one ever gets to that. By this time it was 10am where c-section was inevitable as I was permanantely contracting but not dilating.
Then it all kicked off, I'd had no pain relief at all. then was in excruciating pain, gave in to pethidine. Was examined first where they found my waters hadn't broken. They were broken and after gas and air and 55 minutes Sophie was born. Dilated from 3cm to 10cm in 20 minutes, Pushed for 9 minutes. Had small tear.
Think that is the quick story!

PL- don't worry about my story apparently it is rare- the drip and that!

Tryin to post a pic but not sure how??

gingeme · 03/03/2008 21:42

Oh my goodness samsam what a difference to your first birth. Realy glad you and baby are ok. Lucky you having two pink ones
I bet shes beautiful just like her big sister . xxx congratulations again Sam x

babyducky · 03/03/2008 21:48

sounds tough samsmam, hope your ok. xxx

Are you home now?

Sorry dont know how to post a pic!

babyducky · 03/03/2008 21:49

congratulations btw xxxxxxxxxxx

taffy101 · 03/03/2008 22:42

samsmam - sounds excruciating. Apparently we forget all the pain when we have the beautiful end result though
I only know how to put photos on the personal profile, but would probably take a while as I just clicked your name and you don't have one set up! If you want to set one up click on 'my mumsnet' at top of page, AS IF you have the time now

PL - sounds encouraging that you can't see any scarring from your burn. Don't know what 'degree' owen's was but atm I can't imagine it fading, people like you keep reassuring me that it will happen eventually though - so thanks

babyducky - glad Kai's condition has improved (for the moment - hope it stays that way), meanwhile MN has opened up a can of worms about all those cleaning products - who knew eh?
I got eczema when I was little but not to any great degree. I still get it now and again. I got it on my eyelids atm (eek looks like I'm wearing shocking pink eyeshadow)I am resisting urge to put hydrocortisone on it as it thins the skin and may end up with no eyelids - double eek!

rumpel - glad scan went well, that 20 weeker is a weight off one's mind isn't it. Good luck with uni too

OP posts:
RUMPEL · 04/03/2008 12:02

Just a quickie - DD is full of cold and am trying to prep for Uni tomorrow.

TAFFY - I had a friend who had that but it wasn't eczema on her eyes - it was a recurring infection. Also chuck out all your eye make up and buy mineral stuff. I got some by Lola (I think but will check when I get a chance). The minerals will help it to heal and not irritate it - don't cross contaminate though.

SAMSMAM - that'w hat happened to me with Amber - they had to increase the ddrip to max as nothing was happening ( I had an epidurla though 'cos I knew when they broke my waters the pain would get HUGE. The diamorphine didn't help - just made me puke like mad! Hope you are feeling better soon - must go as so much to do - agggggg!

EffiePerine · 04/03/2008 12:07

Wow, respect for getting through all that on pethidine and G&A! The haemorrage sounds terrifying, esp as they seem to have left you to your own devices afterwards . Did they keep you in for a while afterwards (hopefully they did!)?

Princessll: sending lots of painfree labour vibes to you . I don't think Walter is too bad, actually, but I have funny tastes . I saw a small Phineas in a cafe the other day and was tempted - I can =just hear what DH would say to that one!

gingeme · 05/03/2008 22:10

Evening ladies. Ive had a real s**t afternoon literaly. Started at 11am when ds4 usualy has his 2 hour nap but just screamed and cried despite my effort to calm him for half hour. Gave in and got him up and went to our local retail park where we went to Paul Simon to buy curtains for our front room. Anyway while the sales assistant is making coochey coo faces at ds5 hmm hes busy filling his nappy, and vest, and trousers, and top and nearly car seat. Swiftly took him across to Mac D's to change him and have lunch. Ds4 still pretty grumpy but eventually fell asleep.
Got home where ds3 didn't quite make it up all our stairs ,we up 4 flights to our flat, before poohing his pantsangry which is not at all like him. Got him sorted and all was fine. 5pm ds4 did a very smelly nappy. Changed him. He then did another one about 10 mins later. Changed him again. Another one about 10 mins later, each one getting a little runniersad by 6.15 it was literally running out of his nappy so I stood him in the bath, stripped him off and showered him down.He wasn't ill or hot which was good and fortunately didn't pooh any more after that. So settled him and ds3 into bed. Got ds5 ready for bed. Just put his babygro on and he did another mammouth pooh which resulted in another complete change of clothes. Phew!
Kids eh? Whod have em? grin

babyducky · 06/03/2008 09:24

gingeme · 06/03/2008 10:38

I know. I was just telling my Mum about ti on the phone. Did sound quite funny though it wasn't at the time

Ohh she might be.

Will pop back later to see if there is any news. x

RUMPEL · 06/03/2008 14:34

GINGEME sounds crap Wish I could say the same about Amber. She has been suffering form constipation since October (she had hand foot & mouth, cold, MMR then cold again). I have tried smoothies, apricots, loads of veg, fruit, prunes, senna/prune extract and had to go to DR for lactulose on Friday for her as she is holding them in now Which is exactly what I didn't want. She gets all distressed and wrings her hands and cries - it is awful.
She goes for 4 days without 1!

Meant to ask you - have you had any bother when moving the boys into new beds? Had to move A's cot last week to fit her new bed in but she has been crying when we put her to bed ever since. She is usually great at going to bed. i thought I could put her into her new bed for afternoon naps and her cot for nightime but she gets hysterical if I try to get her to sleep in her new bed and even cries now when in her cot!

PRINCESS - have you gone yet?

princessllama · 06/03/2008 14:40

still here, had a show yesterday after having a sweep but nothing else to report.

babyducky · 06/03/2008 17:26

hope its not too long now pl

babyducky · 06/03/2008 17:27

aw poor amber, sounds horrible rumpel,
poor little thing, x

gingeme · 06/03/2008 22:01

Np prolems with beds Rumple so cant help sorry. Mind you They have got a cot bed which I took the side off when they were old enough so it was still like the cot but without the side then transferred them to a big bed when they were about 2 and a half. Edward is still in the cotbed now with all the sides up. Were goign to Haven next week and he will be sleeping in a single bed for two nights. Going to see how it goes as to weather to take the side off the cot.
What is hand, foot and mouth? A little boy has had it at playgroup so didnt come for a couple of weeks.
Oh I realy hope Amber settles soon for you soon. x

taffy101 · 07/03/2008 10:55

Rumpel, poor Amber - my dd has chronic constipation and it is so distressing when they are in pain with it. Sometimes when I see the size of what she passes and think could have done with gas and air! TMI - i know. Lactulose should sort her out. Otherwise, my dd is on movicol which i hide in her orange juice which seems to keep her regular(ish).
No advice re beds, I've done same as ginge with cot bed.
I knew I could rely on you for some eczema advice! I should throw out all my eyeshadow, it is probably rank as I can't remember when i bought any last! I rarely wear it, but it could be a contributing factor.

Ginge - hand foot and mouth is exactly as the name suggests, spots on palms of hands, soles of feet and inside mouth, and sometimes other places. I think I learnt that off MN! Thought Owen had it a few weeks ago,but was some other mysterious spotty virus!

Push Princess, push

OP posts:
gingeme · 07/03/2008 20:52

Ah right. Thanks Taffy. Ill keep an eye out then. Can I ask please do your lo's say words yet? Edwrad seems to love blabbering on as if hes having a real conversation but doesn't actualy sat recognisable words. Though he does point alot

RUMPEL · 08/03/2008 14:53

Hi All,

TAFFY here:

www.lilylolo.co.uk

I have never heard of movical - what is it? I tried prune/senna extaract form pharmacy but that didn't work - lactulose is doing the job though and she is back to her we sunny self She is even day napping in her 'big' bed no problems now. I hope newbie is as good and happy as she is!

GINGEME - Amber says car/cat/Mum (very, very occasionally, and Dad/Daddy. She babbles and shouts too and tries to talk but nothing sensible yet. First sign I had of A having h, f, mouth was she wouldn't eat and kept putting her hands in her mouth and cried for a whole day and night. I thought it was her teeth but they get mouth ulcers. She developed the rash on her legs and arms, not feet or hands, 2 days later.

PRINCESS?

babyducky · 08/03/2008 17:45

pl????????

Kai says mum, dad, nan, bath, bum, boo & emma(my sis)

He is learning to say grandad, he says 'ga dand'

He is constantly babbling away to himself, its funny.

He loves monkeys, whenever he sees one he goes 'ooh ooh ooh'

He also makes a pig noise & a snake noise.

Can I ask a question, how much are your LOs eating & how much milk they drinking now?

dp's mum keeps goin on that she thinks kai doesnt eat enough, & thinks hes not getting enough calcium as he doesnt like milk anymore.

I'm not too bothered what she says really but just interested to see how much other LOs his age are eating.

this is what he's had today.

BREAKFAST: weetabix(made with about 4oz milk)
yogurt, slice of melon, a banana.
orange juice.

LUNCH: cheese on toast, pieces of cucumber, pieces of tomato, a few raisins, a clementine & yogurt.

DINNER: 2 homemade fishcakes, mash pot & peas.
some tinned peaches & a lttle pot of custard.

He will prob have a cereal bar about 6.45 aswell, & he's had a few rice cakes this afternoon.

does this sound ok???

Hope everyones having a nice weekend.

xxxxxxx

gingeme · 08/03/2008 18:11

babyducky he eats more than Edwrad does! Can we come round for tea one day? Sounds yum
Edward actualy said 'David' today, ds3's name. We all clapped and he looked very bewildered.

princessllama · 08/03/2008 19:01

still here, not much happening. i second gingeme, we'll come round to yours for tea anytime. hope doesn't have much dairy either but i'm not fussed as she has brocoli, pea and pear squeezy tubes about every 2 days and brocoli has loads of calcium in, she also has one bottle of goat's milk at night. i think she's eating about the same as kai, maybe a bit less.
She is talking quite alot but i've noticed that her best mate harry who's the same age does lots of babbling but not many words and he is way ahead of her with motor stuff-getting on and off chairs, jumping on a trampoline etc-whereas she's clueless with that stuff. the funniest thing she says is' saw-see' instead of see saw and 'naw nee' instead of nee-naw-although maybe shouldn't find it so funny as it's a classic dyslexic mistake and both dh and me are dyslexic so could just be a sign of endless meetings with the teachers...they really hated me!
will keep you all posted if anything happens

babyducky · 08/03/2008 20:08

lol, thanks you two, i thought it seemed fine.

how much milk does edward drink ginge?

hope something happens soon pl, sorry bet your gettin annoyed with everyone asking!

My cousin thought it had all started for her 3 weeks ago, she went to hospital & was 2cm, they sent her home, she went back few days later & she was 4cm, still no baby though!
my mum keeps ringing her every day to see if anythings happening, poor girl!

lol at saw see and naw nee!

x

gingeme · 08/03/2008 20:56

How frustrating pl.
Edward doesnt realy drink that much milk. He has a shakey shake (milk shake) before his morning nap and thats about it realy. He has a Frube after his lunch which is usualy a cheese sandwich.then something yoghurty after dinner.
He cut his erm bit under his nose and above his mouth open tonight. We have a little square table between our two sofas and he was laying on it with David under it playing pee po. He then slid forward and ended up head first in the magazine wrack. It bled loads. I tried putting a steri strip (butterfly stitch) on it but the bloody things wouldn't stick so I cut a small plaster in half and stuck that on it. What I want to know why do these things always happen when dh is at work and when ds5 is screaming for his bottle aaaaagh....
