Heehee thought I'd start the new thread. there seemed to be a recurring theme from everyone's recent posts - hence the title.

Hope everyone's well and that you found us without too much trouble

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
babyducky · 26/02/2008 17:48

hey rumpel, yes its still bad, its really bothering him now, I keep hearing his cot shaking in the night where he's itching it so much! Poor thing!

what air freshener things do u mean?x

RUMPEL · 27/02/2008 14:43

Hi All,

BABYDUCKY - I mean it can aggravate eczema if you use a lot of chemical products in the house eg those plug in or spray airfreshners, lots of chemical cleaners etc. You are best to switch to something more natural if you can. If you want to make the house smell better you could pop some lavender or lemon or orange essential oil (proper stuff from Boots) into a spray bottle with water, shake well and spritz.
You can buy natural cleaning products in supermarkets - ECOVER or M & S do their own range now - or online. I just use washing up liquid for everything - cleaning bathroom, washing floor etc. Although I did buy some Cillit Bang for the oven (DETEST cleaning the oven!). You could try popping some porridge oats in a muslin cloth and putting them in the bath when you run it - good for moisturising and calming the skin.
I'd really recommend you see a homeopath - they will be able to prescribe a remedy for him to help his skin and possibly give you some dietary advice too. Sulphur and graphites are good for skin problems but it is best to go see someone qulaified and they will go through a full consultation with you.
Poor wee soul - must be horrible for you all.

GINGEME - Amber is the same - she points to noses, ears, hair, mouth, teeth etc. She keeps sticking her finger up her nose as I go Bleurgh and oull it away - then she laughs her head off Have you managed up to see your boys in Scotland yet?

I actually felt ok yesterday (had best sleep for 8 months) and managed to go to Mummy toddler group for the first time - ever! Was quite funny as A was acting all shy at first (never seen her do that before) but she soon got into it. Feel hellish again today though I have next appt with my new therapist tonight - am quite looking forward to it as I think it is really helping (even though I might cry again )

SAMSMAM/PRINCESS - xxxx hope all is moving for you - maybe the quake last night got things moving?

princessllama · 27/02/2008 17:53

hi, still pregnant! due date today and not much happening.
rumpel we thought the earth quake was someone breaking into our house. was petrified and made dh go and check it out. i think we woke just as it finished and heard something fall off the shelf. next door's garden chairs fell over and i think i heard the roof shifting a bit. had no idea though. really crazy. wish i had felt it.
poor kai babyducky, hope the specialist will say something useful when you go.
Hope goes shy with new people and refuses to talk. they must think i'm mad when they ask if she can say anything yet and i reel off a few of her fav.'s.
samsmam i hope you're getting more success than me with getting the baby to come. i really don't want to be induced again either, may even try castor oil though did have a really really hot curry last night and not pleasant or useful.

gingeme · 27/02/2008 19:08

No we didnt feel anything here either.
Oh princess I feel for you. I bet your so fed up. Im sure youve heard it all before but baby will come when baby wants. Chin up babe
Rumple just spoke to my 'scottish' boys on the web cam. Had to drop a few heavy hints about it being Mothering Sunday this weekend. Thats teens for ya

princessllama · 27/02/2008 20:25

do they sound scottish yet gingeme?

babyducky · 27/02/2008 20:52

wow thanks for the info rumpel, thats really helpfull. I never knew any of that!

Although I have asked the doc about cleaning products & using fabric softener(is that a no no aswell?) but they always just seem to say 'dont worry he'll grow out of it'.

They just keep giving me different steroid creams, which I dont like using really, they dont even really help.
I had to beg them to refer him to a dermatologist!!!

I use loads of cleaning stuff, feel really bad now that I could be making it worse!
Im def gonna try more natural stuff from now on,
What do you use for cleaning the highchair? I normally use dettol, god i bet thats really bad!

how do I find a homeopath? Just google?

Thanks rumpel!

aw pl hope it all gets started soon, do you know what flavour your having, cant remember if i've asked that before!

Kai points to nose, eyes, mouth, hair & willy!

anyone doing anything nice for mothers day?

xxx

gingeme · 27/02/2008 21:36

No princessllama though theyve been living there a year now. They say a few 'ayes' and things like that.
babyducky vinegar is supposed to be a good cleaner. My Mum had a book called 1001 things you can use it for. Not sure if she still has it. I used to watch How Clean Is Your House? Mainly because I could never believe how disgusting people could be and they used alot of natural cleaners on there.
Hopefuly dh cooking one of his fab roasts on Sunday and a friend of mine has invited me to the Mothering Sunday church service which I went to last year and it was lovely. Not a church goer at all but she insisted

princessllama · 27/02/2008 22:46

how clean is your house is always chearing as you see how fantastically clean you are compared to the piglets on the tv!
babyducky, my mum has bad eczema that flares up, bleeds etc. and has done since a child. hers is massively affected by man made fibre clothes, ie like nylon, fleece etc-
anything apart from basic no fragrance soap in the bath
biological washing powder-even for bedding
perfume on her skin
some plants-eg gerberas-sp?,
she has seen a huge improvement cutting out alcohol, wheat and dairy-but being my mum this isn't a permanent thing ...
stress plays a big part for her, which must be compared to stuff like teething, colds etc for a toddler.
i think natural fibre mattresses and cotton bedding help alot.
and all the stuff rumpel said.
also, house dust mites and pet fluff can be bad for some.
no, we still don't know what kind of baby it'll be-keeps the friends and family interested at least! we think it's a boy as v diff pg from last time and we think we saw a willy on the scan-fingers crossed as one of each would be nice but won't be gutted to have 2 girls either as i always wanted a sister myself.
hope the weaning is going well gingeme

gingeme · 28/02/2008 10:53

princessllsma Im sorry to tell you this but dont get your hopes up for a boy. Ive had five and they were all diferent and I carried them all different
Good luck with it anyway.

babyducky · 28/02/2008 11:17

thanks everyone for the advice, im just going out to see what I can find!

do u have any names decided pl?

RUMPEL · 28/02/2008 13:11

Hi All,

BABYDUCKY - I just use washing up liquid for the high chair too. You can get 'natural' fabric conditioner too (Ecover) or you could just pop a couple of drops of lavender into the conditioner tray. I don't use fabric conditioner really. White vinegar is great for all sorts - cleaning TV, qworktops etc. You can use it to clean your drains too. You need to pour bicarbonate of soda down first, then white vinegar (try not to breathe in the fumes htough) then once it has stopped fizzing add very hot water to flush. Very occassionally I am forced to use other drain cleaner as I have really thick hair and it clogs up the drains (and the hoover roller). Where do you live?

GINGEME - Aberdonian accents - they'll be sing songing - mind you most of the North are English or Poles these days .

PRINCESS - we're the same. Would quite like a boy to have 1 of each but really don't mind if we have a girl as I really, really wanted a girl first. Scan on Monday!

RUMPEL · 29/02/2008 13:28

BABYDUCKY here:

www.homeopathy-soh.org/about-homeopathy/find-a-homeopath.aspx

taffy101 · 29/02/2008 20:05

babyducky - poor kai, looks like you've got lots of good advice off MN though. Sad that he is so itchy with it. I stress out about owen scratching at his poorly arm, he has antihistamine medicine twice a day for that, and he wears a special vest but as soon as I take that off he starts attacking it. I try to keep his nails short - i have to cut them while he is asleep lol!

ooh - samsmam might have had babe by now - today is meant to be the day. Hope it went smoothly.

I never felt the earthquake, funny how a tiny murmur from a baby will wake us up but not the earth moving!!

OP posts:
RUMPEL · 29/02/2008 20:07

SAMSMAM- pushing for youxxxx Hope all is well - desperate for your news!

xxx

gingeme · 29/02/2008 20:50

Evening ladies just popped by to see if there is any news of the expectant mothers?
Ill be up your way in a couple of weeks babyducky. We are having a long weekend at the Haven in Combe Haven

princessllama · 29/02/2008 20:54

hello, still pg! am waiting for dh to get back with vvv hot curry. have already put about half a bottle of clary sage in bath. acupuncture booked in for sunday. nothing seems to be happening so far though, think have a good way to go.
haven't heard any news on samsmam, hope she's ok.
taffy, is that owen's poorly arm from the burn?
babyd we have almost decided on ferdie if it's a boy but for a girl keep changing-flora, lilly or betty (you can imagine my mum's face when i mentioned that last one!)
did you see the thing last night about the 2 little girls from hastings? amazing how well they seem to have got through it, really impressive

samsmam · 01/03/2008 18:39

in my hospital bed right now! sophie born at 11.36 this morning weighing exactly same as samantha- 8lb 12oz horrible horrible labour post more when have proper keyboard! x

princessllama · 01/03/2008 20:35

congratulations samandsophiesmum. i love the name sophie. i'm so sorry you had another horrible delivery, sending you big hugs. i hope you are both ok. prob last thing on your mind, but you could see if you could persuade james (my osteopath friend you saw) if he could come and visit you both at home or get someone to take you to him just to check you're both ok after last time etc.
looking forward to the pictures when you're back on your feet xx

babyducky · 01/03/2008 21:17

aw congratulations! Lovely name, hope your both well, sorry it was a horrible labour, cant wait for pics!!! Lots of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

pl-anything happening with you yet? Great names btw, very different. Love them!

my cousins baby is due tomorrow, she's already been in labour 2 weeks!

taffy101 · 01/03/2008 21:19

CONGRATULATIONS SAMSMAM
Sorry it was horrid though, at least you don't feel compelled to go through it all again! I love the name too.

Was trying to sell stuff on ebay tonight (baby clothes that I am not going to save on the off chance of having another!) but site froze, just came on here to see if it was the site or my computer with the problem - obviously ebay has the problem!

Pllama - yes by 'poorly arm' I do mean the burn. He is not in pain any longer, as I understand it, it takes 2 years for a scar to mature and that is how long I've got to fight against it with massage. I thought it hadn't changed any but I saw some video footage of Owen in the bath from before xmas and I realise it is improving slowly but I don't notice because i see it everyday.

I too watched that programme about the two girls from Hastings. They are so lucky to be alive, but they went through hell. I know child abduction is exceedingly rare but it just makes you so paranoid does't it. I will have to chaperone my kids till they're 18 - I'm sure they'd love that!

gingeme · 01/03/2008 22:32

Oh sam how wonderful. Many congratulations to you all. Dh says well done xxxxx

RUMPEL · 03/03/2008 12:37

SAMSMAM - well done you and Sophie is a very pretty name. Big hugs and healing vibes to your undercarriage Hope you get out soon.xxx

Had my 20 wk scan this morning. Baby is fine - everything where it should be. Very detailed scan and excellent sonographer.

PL - hop eyou move soon too.

Need to go - back at uni on Wednesday and so much prep to do - agggg! Don't know how I am going to manage as feel so unweel most of the time - still am on the homerun.

EffiePerine · 03/03/2008 12:42

Congratulations Samsmam! Sophie is a lovely name - all the Sophies I know are sweethearts

Sorry that you had another bad labour - I take it they induced you in the end? Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to recover! Do you have plenty of family support for the first few weeks?

Hi Princessllama - everything still OK? Reminds me of the first time round when we were all posting 'still here - nothing yet - still blardy here'

princessllama · 03/03/2008 18:45

yeah still here. having bh like am being hugged to death by a large rugby player but all painfree-rats rats rats. will see what the obstetrician says tomorrow. really don't want to be induced. blimey though, it is such hard work 2nd time round, all the waddling after lo. my mum is being fantastic and so is dh at weekends so really lucky. have just rented first series of sex in the city as get so bored in the evening and not up to more than zombie tv life. my brother keeps texting me with 2 words'whale watch?' starting to get irritating!!
taffy, i had a 2nd and 3rd degree burn a few years ago. would you believe it was on my chest. even with all the expansion from breastfeeding lo it's been ok and you'd never know now looking that it was ever there, let's hope owen's will be like that eventually.-i know it's far worse for kids because of huge growth.
rumpel hope college goes well on wednesday
babyd. can you believe we're still coming up with more names! the longer it goes on the crazier they get, fil suggested walter yesterday and dh is keen
will keep you posted
samsmam hope you're doing ok
effie p does seem like yesterday we were all doing this last time-i remember you and i had due dates quite similar and you went before me. has been a bummer being right at end of month, feels much longer overdue than really is, i think babyducky was in that position
