cottage pie for us tomorrow, cabbage& brocolli, should have been tonight but cooking is DHs area

OP posts:
milkyJammy · 30/01/2008 16:55

actually, it's technically cottage pie for us (I think) as it's beef mince, but we always call it sheppy pie

thisisRialifebaby · 30/01/2008 17:03

jammy, I'm not willing to take the risk that I might end up eating lamb!

I've found a job for DH to apply for. Please can everyone cross their fingers. It's far more "him" than the interviews he's got lined up...

OP posts:
LardyMardyDaisy · 30/01/2008 17:38

what's wrong with lamb Ria? I never ate lamb for over 10 years out of some teenage agnst over a friend of ours eating the family pet.....then I had a nice cooked pink lamb chop, realised what I had been missing all those years and it's now my favourite meat!

Tea sorted. We're having cod baked in parlsey sauce with potatoes from the veg box and green beans (brocolli for LO as she tries to swallow beans whole!!)

hey mhc, thanks for that. I'm trying to get in to see one of the GPs at our practice who is fairly clued up on thrush etc. this might be tmi, but I think that I have some sort of damaged duct opening going on on my right boob from cracked nips in the early days (my nipple looks a bit weird with this strange flappy bit of skin), and I think this is where the infection keeps getting in. Left boob is problem free. I might try the NCT helpline and see if I can access some local help, or go to the Baby Cafe tomorrow and talk to my old MW who is the BFC there.

babyboo is being terrible this evening. Most afternoons she whinges solidly from about four o'clock until teatime. She's had milk and some bread as a snack so it isn't hunger. Tis very distracting, especially as I need to give DS some quality time (and occasionally have some puter time for myself)

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 30/01/2008 17:51

You can feed from just one breast apparently. depends if you anticipate a big difference in size

thisisRialifebaby · 30/01/2008 18:06

It's not down to animal rights issues/pet lambs etc, but having watched my Dad do the less appealing bits of sheep care when I was little. You DON'T need to know.

Love the smell of sheep dip though...

OP posts:
LardyMardyDaisy · 30/01/2008 18:24

I might try it bumper....then apply for extreme makeover UK so I can get evened out again

I went as far as getting an application form a couple of years ago, but bottled it!

Ria, my friends Dad was a sheep farmer; I know all about some of the horrible bits of sheep rearing!

milkyJammy · 30/01/2008 18:25

I just don't like the taste of lamb

milkyJammy · 30/01/2008 18:25

Am intrigued about sheep rearing though

thisisRialifebaby · 30/01/2008 18:53

you know what I mean then daisy

jammy, stuff like manky hoof clipping, and clipping dried poo of their bottoms, and seriously manky fleece issues that I'm not telling you. I don't like the taste/smell of the meat either.

FairyFay · 30/01/2008 19:34

Helooo everyone.

I'm with you Jammy. I went off lamb big time when pg with DD and haven't been able to stomach it since.

milkyJammy · 30/01/2008 19:53

I've had an email from my boss asking if I can go to a conference in Liverpool, with an overnight stay, one week after I go back to work. Part of me is quite excited (normally I'd jump at the chance) and it's something I don't know much about (but it would be a good idea if I did) so would be a good learning opportunity. But part of me is a bit and about going away, especially as C will still be getting used to the new routine. And feel bad for DH if I go. And it'd depend on his parents coming down because one of the days isn't a normal work day for me, so we would need childcare as DH couldn't take the day off. But the thought of a full night's sleep ...

milkyJammy · 30/01/2008 19:53

And i would get paid overtime

FairyFay · 30/01/2008 19:57

Jammy, if you can work out the logistics I would definitely go. I know it's work not pleasure as such, but I found that a full day and night away being 'me' really helped me, and there's a lot to be said for a full night's sleep without always having one ear open for a cry.

FairyFay · 30/01/2008 19:57

Not to mention, lovely to have some extra cash

milkyJammy · 30/01/2008 20:00

Even if I don't go it has clarified in my mind that I do want to go back to work it's just the admin crap that's putting me off. So that's good

thisisRialifebaby · 30/01/2008 20:02

sounds like a good opportunity jammy.

Hi FF are you well?

OP posts:
FairyFay · 30/01/2008 20:18

Hi ria . I'm ok thanks. I had a lovely lunch with Andiem today, so she has witnessed first hand the 'semi-ordered chaos' that is my life/house. What does Dh think of the job you've found for him to apply for? btw, I too am doing TERRIBLY with the weight loss, I just have no willpower.

FairyFay · 30/01/2008 20:20

Are you feeling any cheerier than earlier?

Izzybel · 30/01/2008 20:27

Hello all! Just popping in before 'Grand Designs' is on. It's taken me quite a while to read from yesterday!
Daisy, it really does sound as though you have done so well with BFing. 7/8 months is a long time especially if you have been in pain. In fact I don't really have any friends in RL who are BFing. You should be really proud of yourself!

thisisRialifebaby · 30/01/2008 20:27

nope. but thanks for asking.

I've just been browsing OU courses but I think I'm too scared.

DH has an interview tomorrow!

OP posts:
Izzybel · 30/01/2008 20:29

What's an OU course Ria? Good luck to your DH for tomorrow!

Izzybel · 30/01/2008 20:29

Oh Open University! Duh!

milkyJammy · 30/01/2008 20:37

I've done OU courses Ria. It's hard (at least it was when I was full time working, heaven knows what it's like with kids!) but rewarding. And can be fun!

andiemustlosehalfastonemore · 30/01/2008 20:41

evening all just popping in before grand designs as well

hi izzy

daisy you have done so well with bf to get as far as you have I don't think you should feel bad if you want to wind it down a bit. I am relieved that we are now down to 5/6 feeds in 24 hrs I was starting to feel a bit bovine
