ooh aah a little bit more ..............

Are they/Aren't they?
Dippy
Pinions

Work
Pinions has issues with her return to work and her hours are yet to be finalised
Octo made the decision to go back to teaching, as a supply teacher for now
mammyjo was messed around by payroll and overpaid
crossover of uk/spanish public holidays caused problems for Maveta
weeonion is also struggling with issues surrounding her return to work

Babies
Talk about talking
weeonion's C has her first tooth
WCL is tearing her hair out as L is quite literally everywhere
wanky loon HV giving Pesha hassle over D's weight

Everything Else
Eddas made her Buggy Snuggle and it looks fab!
Caz has been asked to talk to teenagers about being a young mum
Oooggs has worries about a planning application right next to Nursery
GMM will be running for DEBRA
Maveta needs to chose a Nursery but with ratios of 1:8 it won't be easy
Maveta is also struggling with other aspects of the Spanish way of life, namely MIL
Hotlipsmummy rejoined the group after being with us during pregnancy, and promptly changed her name to 2hotcrossbunnies in preparation for Easter
Pinions had an op to remove some gremlin moles but is recovering well
Pinions brother has written a rather interesting book (that's the brother that doesn't star in random tv ads )
phdlife popped in to say hi
Pesha went to a party in her wellies and came home very drunk ""maybe a tiddly bit tiddly" by 10pm
Maveta has a new hairdo
Dippy will jump into bed with anyone that offers her a Kinder Egg
Pinions can knit
GMM has her notallowedtotellyou pierced
mj and oooggs had lovely girlie nights out with friends, while SOL took dh with her when she ventured out
GMM has bought a new pushchair
Dippy has stickykeys
KHIN needs (((hugs)))

Meet Ups
We were thinking of multiple meet-ups on same day in May to celebrate birthdays????
NEED TO PROGRESS THIS
Ellie wants to come to Scotland on Feb 15th if they'll have her???

Funny stuff
It was decided that MN is constructive
SPB asked "does it get easier as they get older?" (still pmsl at that one )

Also worthy of note
Octo had more wine leading to this quote -
"Fuck it, bugger working and going to supply and have 4 more children ..."

There were excellent language skills on display in the Liath household .....
"A recent conversation at my sister's house went thus:
Dd - I'm going to bugger off the cat, Mummy.
Me - I beg your pardon?
Dd - I'M GOING TO BUGGER OFF THE CAT MUMMY!
Me -
Dd - Bugger off cat!!
Cat -
I must stop using foul language"

A collaberation between Mr Dippy and NL came up with this new 'lullaby'.....
"Some naughty children didn't go to bed,
Along came a goblin and chopped off their heads.
Their poor parents started to weep,
Because the naughty children wouldn't go to sleep!"
"The naughty children bewailed their fate
But alas and alack it was all too late
The Goblin scarpered, quick as could be
So listen MY naughty children, go to sleep for ME!"

Pesha (or should that be Peesha ) got fed up of not being able to say her own name correctly and has changed it to Mashanapedyjo (Masher for short) thanks to Octo!

Captain Dippy, I have had to remove the snow off my car twice this morning
Once to get them to school and then again outside school to get home again I was only in their for five minutes.

CaptainDippy · 24/01/2008 09:39

Good grief, Luce!!

Still - I'd rather have snow than rain.

However, it has snowed on DD1's Birthday every year since she was born - so I am hoping tradition will be followed this year!

Lucewits · 24/01/2008 09:39

GMM/Liath see you tues at midday is that ok?

Total mad house up here and I have got a very busy head. Finally finished my assignment for college, took it to the post office and then found some young ned trying to break into my car - nice
Then our school was closed yesteday afternoon so I had 6 children in the house for the rest of the day, thankfully they are all well behaved!

Sorry to hear about those with work issues and sick babies

PSML at Liaths DD and GMM

CaptainDippy · 24/01/2008 09:43

Goodness me, Luce - You have been a bit hectic to say the least!! xx @ the "young ned" trying to break into your car!! Did he just see you and run!!? Goodness! Why was your school closed?

liath · 24/01/2008 09:48

Sounds good Luce, see you there. at the ned - I must bring my Ned Scoring System along on Tuesday.

Lucewits · 24/01/2008 09:48

I didnt see the Ned at first CD. I noticed that my back door had been forced as I opened the front door and he crept to the front of the car and hid. As I lifted ds into the car he suddenly stood up and ran - he was only about 10
I was on the phone to dh at the time and he rollocked me for using 'that' car park

They had to close that school because they had no water. One of the builders has sheared through the water pipes - thank goodness it was only the school and not the houses aswell that were affected.

Lucewits · 24/01/2008 09:50

Would love to see how to score neds Liath

Maveta · 24/01/2008 09:56

Thanks Eddas - glad he´s feeling better down, so cute about looking for the bug

Pinions, order teeth come through I know it could be teething but he´s already got 4 teeth and although he´s been a grouch and obviously suffered a bit with them, he´s not been like this. And he normally gets a terrible teething rash on his face when he´s about to get teeth which is actually just clearing up from the last ones. I do think he must just be feeling a bit low still and wanting extra attention and cuddles and spoiling. Which is fair enough, don´t we all when we´re unwell? (so much easier to be understanding during the day!!!)

NorthernLurker · 24/01/2008 09:58

I want snow! All I've got here is a jolly cold wind
Luce - how irritating with the ned - dh is scottish - I love that term - much better than chav for instance. Isn't it sad though that a lad of 10 or so has nothing better to do than go round attempting to nick stuff.
Having rotten morning so far - bloody cold on way to school, B made a huge fuss about getting dressed, no pecan brownies at the bakery and the can of coke I treated myself too - turns out to be Coke Classic. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrh!

NorthernLurker · 24/01/2008 10:00

B has a fifth tooth in sight - left hand one at the top

Maveta · 24/01/2008 10:14

how did I miss all of those other posts??!

SPB - T and N definitely seem pretty in synch with each other in some respects.. so can you have a word with T re. being happy and then sending those vibes this way? that´d be great, thanks. [we wish!]

Pinions forgot to say no teething solutions here, just calpol if it really seems to be keeping him up. Really have only used medised when he´s been cold-y aswell and then sparingly because it makes him really dopey and hungover the next day. We were told to give him junifen for his cold/fever but my sister then told me to go easy on that as it can irritate some people´s stomachs? And no teething powders here. So I´m not being much help at all really, am i?

Hello everyone else, just going to make myself a nice cuppa and enjoy the quiet while N sleeps. Tried doing a meal plan at last after talking about it like a month ago and doing nothing. So will see if that makes us a bit more organised.

Mashanapedyjo · 24/01/2008 10:19

Eddas I agree with what dippy said - if you dont go he'll get worse later and you'll wish you had. Now you are going he'll probably be fine! But best to go anyway, specially if he's still got temp.

Maveta - I think it is possible he's faking it or laying it on a bit thick! They're very clever and if he learns that a particular type of scream gets attention when a whinge doesnt then why wouldnt he scream iyswim?! D always stops settling on his own after being ill because he gets used to all the extra attention and cuddles when he's poorly and he still wants it.

Crap night last night. I didnt go to bed til gone midnight then D woke at 2.30 coughing and I think his chest was really sore. I gave him a cuddle then put him down to go and get calpol and he screeeeeeeeeeamed! Ended up bringing him into bed with me to feed and fell asleep sometime between 3 and 4 . Then was woken by him kicking me in the back at 6 and waving a book at me! Put him back in his cot at 6.30 after another feed then sodding dp came up at 7 and decided rather than sleeping in bed with me he would go in D and N's room where D was happily playing in his cot, so of course D seeing daddy come in wanted cuddles and attention and started crying when he didnt get it so I ended up with him back in bed with me feeding. Not really a bad night but hjas come as a bit of a shock just when I was getting used to him sleeping through!

N is going to his girlfriend's house after school today!!! I think he is in lurve Hes even started tidying up because K does and he doesnt want school dinners anymore (which he LOVED up until now) because K has a packed lunch And apparently she is the same with her mum and has not stopped talking about him either! Its SO cute. And K's mum seems nice too which is a big plus, there are some very questionable parents up at that school!!

StealthPolarBear · 24/01/2008 10:20

I'll get him to send the happy vibes but there may be a few stinky ones in there as well so be warned

Maveta · 24/01/2008 10:31

yeah you can keep the stinky vibes thanks

Pesha, how cute about N´s girlfriend!! awwwww.

elkiedee · 24/01/2008 10:36

Morning all, Maveta, I'm doing much the same as you just posted that you are, I just gave D his mid morning milk feed and successfully got him to sleep.

I'm sooo going to miss Woman's Hour on the radio when I go back to work. Tomorrow is my last day of maternity leave - from Monday to the end of February I'm on annual leave.

At least D just about slept through, a few squawks but he didn't wake until 7.15 am this morning, and I'm hoping that means dp got a little more sleep.

CD, I'm interested in your friend giving it a go - what does she charge? I still want to learn to knit a little bit myself though, even if it's just very basic stuff.

Bramshott, I thought ebay very often does cheap listings, especially on Thursday. But I wouldn't be too frantic, I don't know what you're selling and what prices, but if they're things that photos will make a big difference to it's worth taking the time to get it right.

I keep seeing stuff on ebay I'd like to buy but forgetting to bid for it, possibly just as well really, though I have bought a couple of dinosaur print vests for the spring when D moves into 12-18 months (probably March!)

Newly discovered baby group this afternoon.

elkiedee · 24/01/2008 10:38

PMSL at N's girlfriend, sorry your sleep was interrupted.

justpinions · 24/01/2008 10:46

Maveta that is scary !!!!

At 8 mths they are "supposed" to have 8 teeth !!!??? and could have 4 back ones too at 10 mths. ?? Gosh.

justpinions · 24/01/2008 10:47

...........7 months till L goes to school............

Eddas · 24/01/2008 10:55

been to doctors and she said that what i'm doing is fine. She said babies aren't silly and when they're unwell they will just sit to save wasting energy and will sleep more. She also said eating less is normal too as they know not to put too much in their stomachs.

Typically after getting an appoinment and before seeing the doctor the little monkey ate a whole weetabix and was smiling like normal at all the oldies cooing at him also kept trying to escape my lap when in the doctors room little bugger. She said it's quite normal for them to make the parent look silly by being normal once they're being seen

SO, I will ring SIl and say we're coming and i'll go off to work.

Next time i'll trust my instincts. It was SIL etc telling me to go to the doctor which made me think I should. Must repeat to myself, I KNOW MY BABY BEST

Bramshott · 24/01/2008 10:56

Pinions - you'll count down to it, and then when it comes you'll want him back!!

Meant to say, thanks all who responded to my queries about N and her various behaviours! I served her up a baked potato with beans and cheese last night, and tried to ignore the strops and "I just know I don't like that" comments, and actually, she did eat a reasonable amount of it in between the huffing! Also tried putting her to bed without a story CD (by subterfuge - "I'll come up and put it on when I've eaten my dinner" ) and she did seem to go off to sleep faster. So I think I'll carry on making small changes. My hunch is that if I can get her to sleep earlier, the crying and other behaviours will also improve as she'll be less tired.

N has also started going to school with the taxi that collects the kids round here this week, and it is BLISS! No matter if O is still eating her breakfast, they come to the door, and deliver her back to the door at the end of the day. YAY!!

O has also started crawling (finally - I know I'm very lucky!) and N spends her whole time saying "Mummy, Orla's got . . . [insert name of dangerous / beloved / plain unhygenic thing that O has managed to grab in triumph]!!

elkiedee · 24/01/2008 10:57

D has 8 teeth but I only know of definitely one other baby under a year old with more teeth or even aas many, and M's parents had to seek the advice of a specialist sleep clinic - his dad brings him to Jolly Babies.

Eddas · 24/01/2008 11:02

the house next door
found it!!! ooooooooooo £195,000, that's much more than we paid and ours is end of terrace and has central heating I am too nosey not to get an estate agent round once we've done our front room up Want to see how much it's worth now!

justpinions · 24/01/2008 11:05

See where you're coming from Bramshott, but I seriously doubt it.

No offence son, love you dearly all the same.

Eddas · 24/01/2008 11:15

i have the same feelings about dd going off to school. People keep saying but you won't wnat her to go when the time comes and you'll want her at home the way I feel atm I doubt it As much as I love her the girl needs something to do all the time. She wants little friends to play with. She needs something other than what I can offer. She is so happy going to preschool everyday. If she's happy, i'm happy. I don't want her to grow up too fast though. Love her to bits, she's my little girl but we do wind each otehr up and I think we get on better when we don't spend all day and night together. I think we have similar personalities. Snappy when tired, stroppy, angry, the list goes on

Mashanapedyjo · 24/01/2008 11:47

Ah but wait and see if thats how you feel in september when they're actually in their uniform walking off into school without a backwards glance. I dont think theres many people who can say there isnt a tiny part of them inside that wants to chase after them crying hysterically and run away with them to the safety of home where they can forever remain your baby! Once they go to school thats it - you are no longer the biggest influence in their lives, you have no say over what they do all day, they're GONE!!!!

Ok so maybe thats a teency bit melodramatic. But i miss my baby boy still. I love having time apart from him too but i do miss him. And then in september I have to face the trauma of dd going to junior school
