ooh aah a little bit more ..............

Are they/Aren't they?
Dippy
Pinions

Work
Pinions has issues with her return to work and her hours are yet to be finalised
Octo made the decision to go back to teaching, as a supply teacher for now
mammyjo was messed around by payroll and overpaid
crossover of uk/spanish public holidays caused problems for Maveta
weeonion is also struggling with issues surrounding her return to work

Babies
Talk about talking
weeonion's C has her first tooth
WCL is tearing her hair out as L is quite literally everywhere
wanky loon HV giving Pesha hassle over D's weight

Everything Else
Eddas made her Buggy Snuggle and it looks fab!
Caz has been asked to talk to teenagers about being a young mum
Oooggs has worries about a planning application right next to Nursery
GMM will be running for DEBRA
Maveta needs to chose a Nursery but with ratios of 1:8 it won't be easy
Maveta is also struggling with other aspects of the Spanish way of life, namely MIL
Hotlipsmummy rejoined the group after being with us during pregnancy, and promptly changed her name to 2hotcrossbunnies in preparation for Easter
Pinions had an op to remove some gremlin moles but is recovering well
Pinions brother has written a rather interesting book (that's the brother that doesn't star in random tv ads )
phdlife popped in to say hi
Pesha went to a party in her wellies and came home very drunk ""maybe a tiddly bit tiddly" by 10pm
Maveta has a new hairdo
Dippy will jump into bed with anyone that offers her a Kinder Egg
Pinions can knit
GMM has her notallowedtotellyou pierced
mj and oooggs had lovely girlie nights out with friends, while SOL took dh with her when she ventured out
GMM has bought a new pushchair
Dippy has stickykeys
KHIN needs (((hugs)))

Meet Ups
We were thinking of multiple meet-ups on same day in May to celebrate birthdays????
NEED TO PROGRESS THIS
Ellie wants to come to Scotland on Feb 15th if they'll have her???

Funny stuff
It was decided that MN is constructive
SPB asked "does it get easier as they get older?" (still pmsl at that one )

Also worthy of note
Octo had more wine leading to this quote -
"Fuck it, bugger working and going to supply and have 4 more children ..."

There were excellent language skills on display in the Liath household .....
"A recent conversation at my sister's house went thus:
Dd - I'm going to bugger off the cat, Mummy.
Me - I beg your pardon?
Dd - I'M GOING TO BUGGER OFF THE CAT MUMMY!
Me -
Dd - Bugger off cat!!
Cat -
I must stop using foul language"

A collaberation between Mr Dippy and NL came up with this new 'lullaby'.....
"Some naughty children didn't go to bed,
Along came a goblin and chopped off their heads.
Their poor parents started to weep,
Because the naughty children wouldn't go to sleep!"
"The naughty children bewailed their fate
But alas and alack it was all too late
The Goblin scarpered, quick as could be
So listen MY naughty children, go to sleep for ME!"

Pesha (or should that be Peesha ) got fed up of not being able to say her own name correctly and has changed it to Mashanapedyjo (Masher for short) thanks to Octo!

asleep
so instead of cleaning the kitchen which I should be doing, I am drinking coffee, eating hob nobs and MNing!! How about you and your lot? Did P nap long enough for you to get that application form done the other day?

CaptainDippy · 25/01/2008 11:59

LOL SPB girl after my own heart!!

No, she didn't .... and I was out last night, so I have done a bit this morning, but 'puter is being v.crap and slow ... will complete it tonight and get DH to check it over and tweak it - he is the master of all things application form!!

So. Why are you a "Closet MNer"!!?

StealthPolarBear · 25/01/2008 12:18

glad to hear it
Why? Cos I would get laughed at. PLus he'd want to know what we were talking about. And he'd realise that instead of me being a genius and sorting out loads of problems myself, I actually just ask on here
Better go and clean the kitchen I suppose

Sexonlegs · 25/01/2008 12:44

Afternoon all.

Hope you are tickety boo.

Glad some of you had better nights.

Oooggs, I am not surprised you are pissed off. Hope things get better soon.

Eddas, oh dear. Poor ds. I found that K had yukky nappies for about a week after being sick [yuk emoticon]. Hope he is better soon.

K is absolutey fine today. Tbh I think nursery were being v cautious which is good, but worried me senseless!

Pesha · 25/01/2008 12:52

SPB - PMSL at - 'And he'd realise that instead of me being a genius and sorting out loads of problems myself, I actually just ask on here' A very good reason I think!!

Have been to dentist and got amoxicillin. Have to go back on 14th feb to have tooth out I made the appointment thinking I wont be doing anything in the day but actually I might want to do something in the evening and will still be numb and/or in pain so going to change it.

Went in Superdrug to collect drugs and they had a load of girly hairbands reduced from £2/3 to 20/30p So bought a few for Maia. So then of course I had to buy something for Nathan so ended up in woolys buying Hot Wheels cars And now I think Maia will sulk that his pressie is better than hers! But hopefully will give him something to do at weekend cos he feels left out when M goes off with xp for the weekend.

On the way to school he asked what he was doing if Maia was going to xp. I said you get to stay with me and he burst in tears and threw a big tantrum Thanks a bunch then I think Mummys a bit boring and doesnt spoil him quite so much as say going to granny's house. Plus I dont have exciting new toys for him to play with like other people do!

D's awake, his daytime sleeps seem to be getting shorter

Pesha · 25/01/2008 13:17

Oh and I've taken a few ibuprofen for my tooth pain and just realised I'm not supposed to take them while bfing. I'm thinking as babies are allowed neurofen it cant be that its bad for them just that it passes easily through milk or something, is that right?? Anyone know??

In the early days of bfing I was very aware of what I could and couldn't do but now we've been going so long I seem to keep forgetting to think about it

He's in highchair atm and sounding very wheezey Was fine earlier, hoping it will pass.

And now he's throwing his avocado on the floor and laughing at me

StealthPolarBear · 25/01/2008 13:31

Sorry P no advice, but would definitely find out. I know what you mean, I tend to eat / drink what I like and find out the facts later! (well not 'like' in your case but you know what I mean). Will the amoxicillin be OK?
I keep forgetting you have 3 children, when you were saying your son was asking what he was doing when M goes away I was very impressed!
Glad K is well SOL! Sounds like they were being over cautious, better than the other way round I suppose
T has been asleep for 2 hours (and is still asleep) and hasn't had milk since anout 6.30 this morning!!!!!!! This has never happened before! But, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the end of the bad nights as I seem to remember him sleeping whatever it is off last time we had awful nights, then he went back to normal. Can't help but get my hopes up a bit. Maveta, will make sure he's extra psychic tonight.
Should I be worried about the milk? He had breakfast at about 8.30 or 9, but didn't have a lot of water, as he never does. I spend all my time wanting him to sleep, then when he's asleep I want him to wake up! Also, I still don't have a tidy kitchen, that really is disgraceful

StealthPolarBear · 25/01/2008 13:33

maveta, have done a quick search and it looks as though ibuprofen is fine:
NHS DIrect says it's fine but try not to! Also sounds like at 9 months, there's even less to worry about.
That reminds me - T is exactly 40 weeks today He'll be 9 months on the 27th oooooh.

StealthPolarBear · 25/01/2008 13:34

Pesha even
And I don't get you two mixed up! Don't know what happened there

StealthPolarBear · 25/01/2008 13:35

Who else gave birth on the 27th with me?
I know charNbump / charNcoco did as she texted me but I ignored her text

WestCountryLass · 25/01/2008 13:51

You can take ibuprofen. My midwives gave it to me after I had Leo for the after pains. I have had a tooth abcesss and taken amoxycillin and ibuprofen too, needs must!

On the subject of fretful babies in the night, Ooooogs, have you tried giving them Calpol before bed? Leo has been waking at night and it is the only thing that works as he is teething, might be worth a go?

Thanks for the messages about Arthur, he was a really lovely bunny, I look out the kitchen window expecting to see him but he's not there

mammyjo · 25/01/2008 14:26

So sad about Arthur WCL. My rabbit died just over a year ago. Unfortunately it was my own dog that killed him. She just had a mad episode and literally forced the roof off his run to get into him, as well as generally trashing the garden and bending the bolt on the gate trying to get out. Before then she had never really bothered with him, and I assumed that because he was always within his run that he would be safe. I shed a lot of tears over that Losing pets is awful

StealthPolarBear · 25/01/2008 14:30

Oh that's awful mammyjo

StealthPolarBear · 25/01/2008 14:31

Who has stolen my baby and left a little boy in his place?
AKA
Have I been on MN that long?

runnyhabbit · 25/01/2008 14:33

hello!

I'm home alone, so just going to make a cuppa, then try my best to catch up

2HotCrossBunnies · 25/01/2008 14:41

Afternoon! Slowly beginning to feel more human here after a VERY good night out with friends last night! Hangovers and DCs are not a good mix!

DS2 has come down with an awful cold and was up 3 times for the sitter and then DH was dealing with him when I got home at 1a.m (he left an hour before me so the sitter could go!). DH put the humidifier on at that stage and whilst we heard a few snuffles that was it for the night. So top tip for those with poorly babies - use an humidifier!!
Then DS1 woke up with a nightmare and I just put him into bed with us. I have NEVER done that before! I am feeling like he's not ny baby anymore - no longer naps during the day, off to nursery school etc etc -so just wanted to cuddle him. DH was not impressed as he got kicked all night

Right off to try to catch up before nap/quiet time is finished!

runnyhabbit · 25/01/2008 14:59

So, I've managed to catch up but can't seem to remember much
Sorry to hear about the poorly/unsettled babies. Have you tried calpol night? I found it worked better than medised. Have also used the teetha powders when he was teething, and I swear they worked straight away.
W sometimes sounds quite wheezy, and (tmi alert) when he coughs, I can tell he's brought something up, iyswim. But dr checked him out last week at his 9mth check up, and said there was nothing to worry about (and I get on well with this dr, so I trust him!)

Well, W is down to one bf a day He now has ff in the afternoon, and at bedtime. Tbh, its a bit of a relief, because he's so darn nosy that he was taking my boob with him wanting to look around. He's fine in the morning, because we're in bed cuddling, and its dark, so theres nothing for him to see

And...I only have 4 mornings left in work have been very productive, and registered with 2 agencies today, so fingers crossed that something comes up. Also have a few application forms to fill in, plus am goping to have a quick look at the JobCentrePlus website.

If I don't get a chance to get on later, have a fab weekend all

xx

Octothechildherder · 25/01/2008 15:15

hello ((((waves)))) runs off again for school run!

I worked this morning - it was GREAT

weeonion · 25/01/2008 15:19

hi folks! will try and do some personals but please dont be offended if i miss you out as it is ages since i posted!
wcl - poor poor arthur and you lot. how is ds now? i remember going to school teh day after my dog died and i couldnt speak for crying!
mammyj- poor you as well!
runny - so little time left at work for you! how do you feel about it all now?
SBP/ Maveta - hope tonight goes better for you both. we done our own kinda version of CC with C. we made a policy of not taking her out of her hammock unless she was really really howling and sssshing/ patting her. i think it worked in that she tends to sleep from 7.30 - 11.30pm, feeds then down again to 5/6am. she rarely wakes up in between so i am starting to feel a bit more human!
eddas - glad ds is on the up though the overfilled nappies arent the most pleasant of prospects!
pesha - at exp and poor M. it must be so confusing and frustrating for you - and you are left to deal with the fall-out. hope this weekend goes great for her and is a real treat!
POTC - let us know how the J&J situation goes. x
GMM - i always knew there was another side to you . i still have my nose piercing in but fainted when i went to get my clitoris done. came to with legs akimbo and the piercist fanning me with a mag. i hastily left and didnt try to repeat the act.
cd - get that application done!!!!
elkie - the blanket i have is actually crocheted in pale pastel colours. it is still yours if you want it!!
pinions - how is the food consumption going today?? C seemed to be doing well at BLW but now we are lucky if she manages a few pieces of pasta at a go. trying not to stress though!
NL - did B take to the pancakes again? i invested in a minimuffin tin - now the freezer is full of cute lentil muffins etc - shame C doesnt seem bothered!

i had my appeal re my flexible working on Wed. what a joke. i went in to see a report from my boss sitting in front of them - 9 pages long as to why he wont let me be based in glasgow 2 days a week. FFS. should hear within 7 days but no breath holding going on. work is a bit of a mess. i have just found out that i have to cover an event tomorrow 5-7pm as they neglected to arrange cover and assumed i would do it. my mat cover who used to be my assistant has handed in his notice as he cant work with our boss anymore. i am due back 2 days a week from tues. i have just been to doc on recommendation from HV/CPN and got a sick line for a month. work is gonna freak. my tasks will not go away - i will have to face it all and catch up when i go back. hate hate hate that i will have PND against my name / work records.

ah well. out for meal with some scottish mums 2morro night. GMM will lead us astray no doubt

weeonion · 25/01/2008 15:19

zeeez - that was a LONG post - sorry!

StealthPolarBear · 25/01/2008 15:22

at work weeonion

runnyhabbit · 25/01/2008 15:35

WO - at work. What a complete pita.

Did have a slight panic last weekend when I realised that I would be unemployed from 1st Feb. I have never left a job without having another one to go to. Its really unlike me. The travelling has been doing my head in though, and I think its that which has made me so tired. (up at 6.15am, out the house at 7.15am, in work by 8.30am) Dh has been fab over it, reassuring/reminding me why I'm leaving. Pretty much decided that I will be doing some type of accountancy course, although, will have to be distance learning to fit in with work/childcare.

That was a bit longer than I thought

Sexonlegs · 25/01/2008 16:25

Blimey WO! The mere reading about you going in to get your clitoris pierced has left me feeling weak!!

Sorry the job front is looking so shit. Sadly if they have solid business reasons as to why x, y or z cannot work, then employees have little comeback. Good luck with it.

Runny, enjoy your last few days and I hope something fab comes up that is on your doorstep.

cazboldy · 25/01/2008 17:34

feel glad that you didn't go through with it WO. an aquaintance of mine with kids the same age as mine had to ask me to do the school run for her when she had hers done she couldn't walk properly for 2 days and couldn't wear jeans for about a week! she reckoned she was less swollen when she had her dc!

to this day i don't know why she told me she had it done - maybe she had an aversion to making up a lie to tell me instead?

to make it worse she even offered to show me! definitely made a sharp exit that day!

and it's not even like we are friends - i'v only ever spoken to her at parties or in the playground!

Maveta · 25/01/2008 18:02

lol @ caz´s friend. I´ve had someone offer to show me theirs too and I was very WO - that made me laugh but I´m really sorry your work aren´t going to be able to accomodate you. Glad you´ve been signed off a bit longer just to give you some more space before diving back into it all.

Oooggs - you poor thing, what a horrible night! Wish I could suggest something but not only do I only have 1, I can´t even get him to sleep all night!

spb - all vibes gratefully received! Is the kitchen clean yet??

Eddas - eeww yucky poos - mum said N had a stinker earlier and I had one when I went to bath him just now As you are all well aware we stick him on the loo at nappy changes and that way we catch 95% of poos but obviously today we were out of luck. I am not used to having to deal with that. eeeurgh.

N looks like he´s about to fall asleep on the floor, really better go pay attention to him, back soon x
