Oh dear, that sounds nasty.

Slimming World, well basically you get green and red days - on green days you eat as much pasta/rice/potatoes/beans as you want and weigh out small portions of meat. Red days are the opposite. Then you get what's called Healthy extras which are milk/cheese etc. Unlimited eggs which is great as although I didn't eat many before this I now make egg custards/quiches/poached eggs etc. You get 'sins' for booze and sweet stuff too. In fact it worked so well I only put a pound on over Christmas and got that pound off the following week! I could give you it in more detail if you were interested but won't cram this thread up with it. I think CSWS does Slimming World too, don't you CSWS? I have been getting to the gym 3 times a week too and will be putting in for another 5k run (which is still a bloody struggle for me, I wasn't born a runner it would seem!)

mustrunmore · 25/01/2008 09:54

I've signed up for the 5km in June, and am waitinf for the Hyde Park one to open, which is usually on in September. Also looking for a couple of 10kms to do with dl, but it needs to be on certain weekends only (due to me jobhunting), so may be a bit tricky. Slimming world seems far too complicated for me . Plus not eating meat or fish or 90% of dairy, its a bit tricky! And I know I cant have treat/sin foods, as I have no willpower; its all or nothing. Thats the only way its worked in the past. I did lose 2lbs last weeek, but my overall weight is very very very depressing And I'm looking far worse again. i weigh more than dl, and far far more than dh

mustrunmore · 25/01/2008 09:57

In fact, just to shame me into doing better, can we just have another quick survey on this thread please?! What you eat in a day (or two) , what exercise you're all doing weekly.....

2boysmacca · 25/01/2008 12:25

Exercise is the way MRM, you know that! Diets only work while you're on them and who wants to be on a diet for the rest of their lives? From what others are saying, you're doing fine anyway. What strength training are you doing, you should really incorporate that into your exercise to increase your metabolism....

Sorry to hear about the miscarraige, Chloe, hope you're not too emotionally battered by it.

OriginalFlame · 25/01/2008 12:32

I know nothing about weightloss - sorry

for the miscarriage Chloe, but that things are better with DH again.

MRM summed it up pretty much by "random stomach ache" - tis hurting more again now (stronger ache, not stabby pain). Phoned for my results and was told they haven't been looked at by the doctor yet, and they took my number. I was fine with that until Psycho did face and said that they normally tell her "They look fine, but they need to be checked by the doctor"... the only time they don't say that, is when they don't look fine . So now sat here impatiently glaring at my phone.

I need to get advice emails done I can't focus, but I have already put them off for ages anyway and I will lose business. Damn this working for yourself thing!

OriginalFlame · 25/01/2008 12:36

Oh - what I eat/exercise?

Erm... it varies sooo much from day to day!!!

If I am seeing Psycho - vast quantities of coffee and a little bit of black chocolate.

If I am at home - not a lot to drink unless Boy makes tea (I am drinking lemon squash the last week or so... about 1pt a day average - some days 3, some days none)

Food: sometimes cereal, sometimes not (shreddies with sugar on), crisps at some point during the day, I can't actually remember doing lunch this week, but I must have done or little dude would have starved

Dinner - large portions, spag bol, curry, lasagne

EachPeachPearMum · 25/01/2008 12:47

What I eat- Loads
Exercise I currently do - none
weight gain since return to work-

Pre-pg was a 3 times a week gym girl.
Lost all my 'baby weight' by the time she was 6 mo (combination of bf and having to walk all over hill and dale in order for her to have any sleep- great for waistline and heart)

Work full-time now, and just no chance of fitting any exercise in. By the time she's asleep, either I'm starving so need to cook, then by the time its gone down, gym is closing.
If I went to gym straight away, a) would be starving and b) would be eating around 10pm which is also really unhealthy. Very about it, have never weighed this much (except during pg). Am not h u g e but am only 5 foot and feel very unhealthy at present. Thankfully appetite has returned to pre-bf levels- well, couldn't afford for it not to really!
Don't know how to change this...

EachPeachPearMum · 25/01/2008 12:53

oops
did I break mumsnet?

EachPeachPearMum · 25/01/2008 12:53

has gone very weird at the moment...

2boysmacca · 25/01/2008 13:33

MRM food wise, bowl of cereal first thing. If I snack it's an apple or banana. Lunch I have a sandwich, or beans on toast if I've been to the gym. If I'm eating with dh I occasionally have a bowl of cereal at tea with the boys, otherwise it's meal then 2 choccie biscuits and a cup of tea. Alcohol is weekends only (unless i go out)

Exercise, 2 hours gym on Monday, 1 hour gym Wednesday, body pump on a Thursday pm, kickboxing on a Sat am and a run on Sunday if my body can take it.

What you struggling with mrm, your weight or your perceived weight (girls can answer this for me????) You seem to be doing lots more activity these days, can you honestly say your not seeing the results or is it just a mental block that you can't see body shape changing? Hope I'm not lecturing.....

FlameNFurter · 25/01/2008 13:48

Oh, my exercise is car - school (To be fair, I do park a couple of roads away from school )

FlameNFurter · 25/01/2008 13:49

Bloods are fine, so tis either a need to poo (which I still find after Tuesday), or she has no idea, so if it isn't gone after the weekend or gets worse, she wants me back.

Phoenix · 25/01/2008 16:03

for miscarriage chloe, have i just seen you coming out of Argos on retail park in Wakey? I was just in my car about to set off

for bloods been ok Flame.

I've got ds the red trike from JJB that i linked on other thread

Excercise - none

Eat - not much just crap. I hardly ever eat breakfast and if i don't have a sarnie before i go to work or buy anything while i'm at work (which is quite often) i have 1 meal a day then a few lagers That's really bad isn't it? I am eating lunch most days lately but have never really eaten breakfast.

Frizbe · 25/01/2008 16:12

Flame I really hope you're feeling better by tomorrow at lastest. You don't think it could be your coil do you?

EPPM any chance you could go gym twice week on the way home from work/at lunchtime? It is v awkward trying to go gym at night when you're working....I only manage it when dh is working locally (more at the moment as he's pretty much in shop for next two weeks) so we finish at 17.30, pick up girls, get home, get them ready for bed, then I go gym, then we eat at 20:00-20:30, phew, if I'm lucky I sometimes get to eat before between nursery pick up and going to gym, but not often.

MRM let me think what I ate yesterday
Ok here goes...

8am ish Porridge
2 x slices toast w apple jam, dd2 ate half of a slice, so I had 1.5 slices really.

Lunch broccoli n stilton soup and soda roll
square of coconut, raisen and cherry with plain choc on one side (we ate out)

Tea Fish Pie (homemade, so haddock, egg, spinich, low fat creme frache, cheddar and mashed spuds) followed by a bit later, chocolate sponge w cream

Hi Chloe glad things are going good, bar the misscarriage obviously
well done with the weight loss ya jammy thing! makes mental note to loose the choc sponge cake from my 'diet' list.....

Chloe55 · 25/01/2008 19:12

Yes I was pg!!!! Busted!!

Ahhh now you see Macca, you are saying that exercise is the only way to go but looking at what you eat you seem to be very healthy and don't look like you overindulge in chocolate crap/cakes/wine everynight etc like prob most of us so therefore, I believe you do need to incorporate a healthy eating plan (which is designed for life), not something like Slimfast/Lighterlife etc. Imo both Weight Watchers and Slimming World are eating plans which can be followed productively but still allow you to have the odd treat or 10! My odd treats were nightly, now they are once or twice weekly.

Today I have eaten:

2 poached eggs on toast
Jacket potato with beans and a bit of cheese
Cereal bar
Orange
Banana
Chips (homemade), veg sausages and beans
2 glasses of wine (I intend to finish the bottle)
I will be having 2 Cadburys roses later.

So, I have basically eaten more than I used to do but still managing to lose 2-3lbs a week!!!!

mustrunmore · 25/01/2008 19:43

Will digest these later, but for now (or before pc breaks, as it wont turn on for 6-7 mins at the mo), I can tell you in all honesty that it is the weight Macca, not the perception. And my very poor fitness. Its like jogging clad in mud I'm 2 stone 9 overweight. I'm doing an hour of strength training a week, an hour of cardio based, and averaging about 15 km at the mo, give or take. I'm having alot of trouble with the belly because my back is so weak, so ab stuff just hurts my back IYSWIM. Trying to do back strengthening, but limited success.I've always been like that, even before kids. What I need is more time, no kids. Any my exercise absolutely has to be combined withthe right diet; no bad stuff at all, or it all fails.

mustrunmore · 25/01/2008 19:55

And my tummy ache is bakc

Frizbe · 25/01/2008 20:03

MRM there is no way you're that overweight, absolutely not. Unless you've put on tons since summer anyway and I doubt that very much. Have you tried doing the 10 mins or so of stomach exercises that are on that post pre dvd that I sent you, they really do work (says the woman whose not done them in ages) just ff the dvd to that bit every night for 10 mins?

Gave blood this afternoon, so no exercise for me tonight, was going to go gym, but they said no hard exercise for next few hours,or lifting.... so that's that out the window Was my 1st time, donor virgin

Frizbe · 25/01/2008 20:04

Ooooh MRM you reminded me about my friend C, what with you and Flame doing phantom symptoms, she did both my births with me, odd eh? Did anyone else have phantom partners?

FlameNFurter · 25/01/2008 20:11

Psycho did my labour with DS - she threw up as I pushed, then stopped just after and was fine.

I can see what MRM is saying about her weight having rummaged through her teeny tiny clothes in her wardrobe.

MRM - if you try to take this for one second that I am calling you fat or overweight I will beat you, you know that?

MRM is overweight for her. You have seen the size of Jas - for the Xmas do she was wearing one of MRM's old dresses. So although MRM is far from being overweight looking at her with fresh eyes, looking at her with her own eyes, the woman who wore those clothes, I can see exactly where she is coming from and why she feels so big

Problem is she is a stunning woman regardless of size, and I doubt she will ever see it.

Frizbe · 25/01/2008 20:21

Oh so now your making sense to me Flame MRM what was your previous size? far tooo teeny? for a grown woman who normally vary between 10/14 when they're healthy???? or so the bmi type stuff has me believe? Me I've not been a size 10 since I was 18 my body seems to have settled on 14 with a 12 at an absolute push of being a saint and exercising lots damn hips....
also I forgot to say the pic, was totally on the page when I sent it, tis a frog/horse thing!

DontDreamItBeIt · 25/01/2008 20:23

Absolutely stunning, mrm, and if you believed it oo, you would carry yourself with so much more confidence, the fact tha you aren't as thin as a rake wouldn't matter. The only problem imo is that you feel overweight to yourself.

I am not telling you what I eat/the exercise I do...it won't help

I've only ever given blood twice. I've tried lots more times and been refused I really should give it anoher go now though.

Nice to see you back Chloe. @ m/c. I hope your body sorts iself out soon.

I am officially wihin normal limits now Frizbe! (I used a machine at Tescos recently)

OP posts:
mustrunmore · 25/01/2008 20:28

See, Flame understands me Even if that did make me cry a bit because she's the only person who's expressed exaclty how it is, like that.

I wasnt underweight or too teeny at all. I was a 12 in normal training, a 10 before a big race. And I most definitely know exactly how much overweight I am frizbe, without exaggreating. If I could shift the pg-looking belly, it'd help alot.
