Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm confused now. Been reading online about both measles and german measles. It says for german measles that ab's are no good cos ab's don't work on viral conditions and there is no mention of ab's for measles either

Phoenix · 21/02/2008 21:48

Oh but found this on nhs site - 'While antibiotics are of no use to treat the virus, they may be prescribed for any secondary bacterial infections that develop.'

CantSleepWontSleep · 21/02/2008 21:51

Have you tried starting a thread Phoenix?

Phoenix · 21/02/2008 21:56

No i'm just bothering you lot for now

I'm gonna take ds back to bed now (he woke up a bit ago and was warm and wanted to come down) and then go to bed myself, night everyone

EachPeachPearMum · 21/02/2008 22:37

dame please, please could I see a pic of the EPPP cake?

Phoenix for ds- maybe thats actually what was wrong last week?

Flame- {hug}

mustrunmore · 22/02/2008 07:49

Poor little man phoenix; hope you get him sorted. In some ways, I'm so glad I have no maternal instincts and see my kids as an interesting experoment !

csws, did some snagging in the front room last night, and have moved enought o &just^ get the x trainer in, I think. Even thouh I have the sizes, its really down to actually trying it in situ, which is a PITA for my Dad if he has to bring it down and bback up again if no good Its 2ft longer than the treadmill BTW.

Faceache,faceache,faceache

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/02/2008 14:08

Poor night here - dd has developed yet another cough.

Exciting news though is that we've chosen her nursery school. Went to view it this morning, loved it, and signed her up there and then! She starts 2 afternoons a week in April , and we'll increase the sessions in Sept.

mustrunmore · 22/02/2008 17:54

So she's grown up now. You've lost your baby!
Remind me which one this is?

DontDreamItBeIt · 22/02/2008 18:48

I need to keep up with thi threa

I read on threads i'm on, and cws' post stopped at we've chosen h......I filled in the rest in my mind as "his name"
I'm now reading mrms post as remind me which baby.

Sorry. I'm in a silly mood.

Glad you've found a nursery you're happy with anyway cws, will she keep going to the childminder as well?

your poor baby Phoenix. I hope he gets well soon.

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/02/2008 19:10

This is the nursery school. She will still go to CM until Sept, but then we'll stop her if we get the extra sessions that we want (which we should).

It feeds lots of children into the primary school that we want too, and has only ever had one child fail their assessment .

They were very impressed with how independent she was, as she got stuck in whilst we were sitting talking, and jumped for joy when one of the 'teachers' said it was time to go and play in the garden! She ran off without a care that she was leaving us behind .

SlugsNSnails · 22/02/2008 19:21

I remember the hands on hips woman from the site.

I backed out of the doctor's today I got the times wrong and was 50mins early, then I found out it was with the bloke who seems to struggle with English. If I am pouring my heart out, I want someone I know who understands me

Frizbe · 22/02/2008 21:55

Bah that sites not loading for me CSWS will go back and check it out later for you having chosen though

Hi Jas how's the house going?

{{{{hugs}}}} Phoenix, how's he doing at the mo, sleeping I hope?

Flame wots with the name then? and for no dr's today, but understand why, are you re booking for next week?

MRM, hope it fits!

Running out of people to bbsit our kids here, whilst we both work at weekends am currently trying to persuade a friend who may be popping by on Sunday to take them for 2 hours, all my usual suspects are busy, argh, why don't nurseries open weekends? we have a huge tournament on Sunday in two parts and no takers for the kids, sigh.......dh will have to try and do it all by himself and serve customers, which is a recipe for disaster......but as of yet, he's not been persuaded to getting staff either, sigh.........................pondering if I could ask nursery if any of their staff need extra dosh at a weekend, do you think that would be a goer?

EachPeachPearMum · 22/02/2008 22:47

Friz- I wondered about that myself, as sometimes we need a babysitter, but I feel bad asking MIL. Not sure what the protocol would be though, and would be at them being at my house! (yeah, I'm a silly!)

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/02/2008 04:28

Surely some geek would love a Sat job in a shop like yours Friz, and would prob be cheaper than paying nursery staff?

mustrunmore · 23/02/2008 09:31

I would be happy to either babysit or work in your shop Friz! now you just have to move your life and business alot closer

EachPeachPearMum · 23/02/2008 20:23

Friz- I think csws's solution is possibly a good one. Surely there would be a sixth former or equivalent who would love spending all day in an aladdin's cave full of comic/sci fi/fantasy stuff? Especially if they had a 'discount' perk too! Actually, they might just plough all their wages back into the business

Where is everyone today?

Flame are you ok girl?

We had a lovely day today- birthday meet-up for our post natal group, so they ran themselves ragged at the soft-play place. It was great fun...dd had a 2 hour nap afterwards, and so did mummy and papa!

We visited my little brother yesterday in cambridge which was lovely, but very tiring, with over 4.5 hours driving. Dd didn't drop off in the car, and she hates being strapped in, so she spent all the way home moaning about it, and moaning to have the CD changed, etc.

Phoenix · 23/02/2008 20:25

I'm here but didn't want to talk to myself lol

DontDreamItBeIt · 23/02/2008 20:38

I've spent the day ferrying dd2 to and from a party, and cleaning the house. I've made progress and will be ready to start painting again soon though

I agree with the Saturday Geek being the answer Frizbe. Surely easier and cheaper to find someone to help in the shop, than to look after the dds.

I've bought icing o make ds a irthday cake.
I'm going to try and do Iggle Piggle I think

Not organised anything else though. I've told the dds we will all go to the farm on Saturday to celebrate.

Frizbe · 23/02/2008 20:45

I agree with you about staff girls, its just dh isn't persuaded yet.......the thing is, and I can see his point, we need to employ someone full time really, as we're going to need cover for hols/longer events in summer and we need to be able to trust whom ever it is to cash up and bank it, not nick off with it....... so whilst we need a part timer just for the odd weekend at the moment, we need a full timer 1st, really......do you see what I mean? a manager is called for! just can't afford one quite yet, need to bite the bullet/dh is not being persuaded. Hell I know it'll cost less than childcare eventually! Oh well thanks for listening anyway, in the meantime I've persuaded my friend to drop round in the afternoon on her way back to Brum so kids with her for 2.5 hrs or so have left dh to sort his own cover for the morning, he's on the phone to his mates as I type

CSWS (((((Hugs for the insomnia) or anyone else who can cook? how the hell do you get cherries to stay in the middle of a cherry cake? I've made another one today and again they're all residing at the bottom Even if I follow the be-fo recipe to the letter they sink, what am I doing wrong? (or is this another thread?)

Where is Flamey? not like her not to drop by?

Phoenix, how's the boy?

Ohhhh and guess what, dd2 not awake till 7am again this am 2 days on trot, can we make it 3????

Frizbe · 23/02/2008 20:48

x posts Jas

I want photos of your iggle piggle your cakes are always great! can you help with my cherry dilema?

forgot to say dd2 had her 1st hair cut today big girl now we also kinda arranged a small party for next Sunday teatime, mothers day and dd2's birthday in one swoop! dd2 picked of Tesco shelf today, age 2 balloons, age 2 candle, and disney princess napkins, cups and plates and insisted on holding the lot all the way to the checkout (she was in the trolley with it all stacked on the bar in front of her)

Phoenix · 23/02/2008 20:51

Erm....ds is kinda ok just reeeeaaaaalllllllyyyyyy whingey and i know he's ill but OMG he's got on my nerves today . Its the thrush that's bothering more than anything, his mouth's a mess . When dh took him to docs on thursday he asked for something stronger than the gel we got from the chemist so he's got Nystan drops so hopefully it will clear up soon

Frizbe · 23/02/2008 21:01

for ds Phoenix, really hope the thrush clears up soon for him.

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/02/2008 21:06

Friz - cook a very shallow cake .
Are they glace cherries or real (out of interest, rather than it making a difference?). Glace cherries should be banned - they are a waste of a good fruit. Mmmmmm - I could just eat a jar of cocktail cherries now - shame I think we might be out of them.

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/02/2008 21:11

Jas - how much is entry to PWP if you don't have a pass? Is it free for dd?

SlugsNSnails · 23/02/2008 21:15

I'm ok - just exhausted and a bit that I wasn't well enough to do DS a cake.

Much more chirpy though iyswim.

Went to southampton for the day with Psycho and Psychogirl2 for the birthday shop we promised when I was in labour with DS!

House is still pretty much a state. I had the bright idea of saying open house tomorrow from 1pm... thought it was easier than throwing a party and saved us doing the 4 different things like normal (mum, dad, Psycho and his friends). But now it seems that 20+ people (adults and chidlren) are coming

Aww for whingey boy

Agree about geek hiring - a full time geek is called for See who comes in daily
