I think we have the tail end of your wind!

So flame, remind me.. did youy tummy alternate between bunged up and then a bit too loose the next day and vice versa (sorry if TMI), with nausea and backache and genrally feeling dodgy???????

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/01/2008 09:55

Oh dear mrm.
Did you have a good birthday?

SoupDragon · 31/01/2008 09:57

Isn't Gaviscon good for wind?

[snigger]

damewashalot · 31/01/2008 10:39

Sob my roof in the bay window is leaking Sob.

FlameNFurter · 31/01/2008 11:34

@ gaviscon

DS got blown over on the school run

Yup MRM - tis sounding suspiciously like a bug innit!?

mustrunmore · 31/01/2008 12:31

But bugs dont go on this long, do they? Should've asked csws to ask her doc for us!

mustrunmore · 31/01/2008 13:03

Sorry csws, toallty ignored you there! Yep, bday was ok thanks. Not desperately exciting. But ds1 got a new bed courtesty of freecylce, and he got cake at lunchtime because he was so gutted I didnt have a bday cake like dh did! So he was happy. And I was actually quite happy in the evening as I was centre of attention for once, with dh and dl both being nice to me for a bit, like in the old days before we had kids and I had to grow up. It was nice being the baby

And I got a £10 book token from my friend Hurray!!!! Can only be spent on books for me, not get gobbled up into grocery shopping I know I shuld fee lbad at spending a frivolous tenner when we're so skint. But it does feel nice knowing I can go and choose at my leisure

And, got money to top up my bus pass from my Mum

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/01/2008 13:28

No you shouldn't feel bad about having a present for you! Glad you had a good evening . I had meant to send a card, but was a little distracted this week, so sorry that I didn't.

EachPeachPearMum · 31/01/2008 13:55

We had a very odd night....

Went to bed. Deep sleep, dd wakes wailing 'Mama' which is what she does every morning.
I check the clock- it was 10 past 7, thought 'hmm, its a little dark.' got out of bed. Wondered why my alarm hadn't gone off (set for 7), but assumed I'd put it on 'snooze' in my sleep (a common occurence in our house ).

Go down the corridor to dd's room, she asks me to get in her bed, which i do (do this some mornings if we have time) ...have a little snuggle... start getting up- put her socks on, hair clips in, get her 'cuddlies' up, we both go down the corridor to get Papa up... look at our clock again...

Quarter past TWO!!

Oops cue much confusion as to why she was going back to bed, and why there wasn't going to be any breakfast yet....

Bad Mummy!

To her credit, she went back to sleep without a fuss.

FlameNFurter · 31/01/2008 14:00

I meant to send a card too

FlameNFurter · 31/01/2008 14:07

lol @ your morning EPPM (or night)

mustrunmore · 31/01/2008 14:49

But flame, you didintneed to send a card, you sent me your tummy ache

FlameNFurter · 31/01/2008 14:57

I am nice aren't I

Chloe55 · 31/01/2008 15:28

Sorry but I had a little chuckle at 'ds got blown over on the school run' - its the way you put it Flame

Ds is going through a funny period with food too. Some days he eats next to nothing, like literally some milk and a mouthful of toast and orange if I'm lucky then he has a couple of 'binge' days where he has seconds of everything! Its a bit odd but I'm trying not to make an issue about it - mum gets worried if he goes a day or two of eating very little but I know that he will eat more than enough to survive when he wants to. I don't want him getting any type of food phobia (have seen it first hand with dnephew and it looks a bloody nightmare). Do you think I'm right to just ignore it? I just ask him if he is finished (even if he hasn't touched it) then take it away of he is adamant he wants no more. I don't offer anything else straight away but then try him with a piece of fruit/toast a little later.

Happy birthday MRM for yesterday - was it yesterday? Did we work that out?

FlameNFurter · 31/01/2008 15:41

Tis perfectly normal and you are doing the right thing Chloe - DD still does it. I used to worry because she would have a week living on the odd apple, now I tend not to fuss unless it has been a few weeks (not that fussing fixes much). I have no idea if DS does it, I haven't noticed

Believe me, finding it amusing is fine - It took all my self control not to laugh watching it! I am a cruel, heartless mother. I laughed the day I decided not to bother clipping him in the pushchair ("Its only just down the one road" - hit a bump, he fell out, but not just fell out as he was in a cosy toes, so his top half went flying forward, his legs stayed put He was laughing that time too though

DontDreamItBeIt · 31/01/2008 19:22

100% normal and a textbook response Chloe
I've also seen the damage done by constant offering of alternatives, resulting in a child who lived on sweets and juice because her mother though i was better than her missing meals

@ your early wake up EPPM.

I didn't get any painting done at all yesterday, but have good intentions for his evening

Phoenix · 31/01/2008 19:39

I haven't read yet but just want to check something, if anyone's around, before i take ds to bed. He banged his head on a radiator at my mums today at around 3pm. He's got a big lump and a bruise in the middle of his forehead. He cried after he did it and after a cuddle was fine and playing normally. Should he be ok to go to sleep now? I've never dealt with a bumped head before

DontDreamItBeIt · 31/01/2008 20:01

yes

Worry if he is sleepy straight after a bump, or if he loses consciousness.

OP posts:
FlameNFurter · 31/01/2008 20:02

He'll be fine. Check on him occasionally during the evening if you are worried.

it is only really if they are sick afterwards that you need to panic.

DontDreamItBeIt · 31/01/2008 20:02

When ds fell down the stairs it was bed time, and as soon as he had stopped crying he fell asleep on my knee. I spent most of the ight checking on him, but he was fine.

Thanks I've took him up and got his monitor on full volume to listen to him.

for your early rising EPPM.

at ds getting blown over and pmsl at the image of him hanging out of his pushchair

Glad you had a good birthday and nice pressies mrm

How was the docs csws?

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/01/2008 20:54

pmsl EPPM, you dopey thing!

Awwww for bumped head. Hope he feels fine in the morning.

DD suffered a strange injury tonight. Dh was getting her undressed for her bath, and picked her up by her arms/wrists. She absolutely howled, and kept it up for half an hour with brief pauses, whilst I tried to cuddle and sooth her. She said that her wrist hurt, and every time she moved it she screamed again. Dh has no idea quite how he hurt her, but we can only assume he held her wrists too tightly to lift her. I ended up having to have her bath with her to calm her down, and she fed whilst in there, which seemed to cheer her up .

Docs was fine thanks Phoenix. He said 'I knew there was nothing wrong with him' about dh. Err, how exactly? Can you tell by looking at someone what their sperm is like? I have to see the consultant again due to my previous heart thingy, so no doubt that will be 3 hours hanging around the hospital only to be seen for 5 mins and then dismissed and told only to come back if I experience any problems. Was also supposed to see midwife tomorrow, but only appt available was in middle of toddler group, so am going in 3 weeks instead (only runs 1 morning per fortnight out in the sticks ), when appt was much earlier during toddler group .

EachPeachPearMum · 31/01/2008 21:51

Oh csws, they can just tell ! Maybe dh has a glint in his eye
Perhaps dd's wrist is dislocated?

Phoenix- hope bump goes down nicely.

Flame- whats with the norks?

Chloe- definitely right not to push it, nor to give extras. dd's cousin was like that- would only eat sweets and chocolate, never meals, because parents indulged her. When she spent weeks at Granny's house on holiday- she ate everything, with no quibble, because she knew Granny wouldn't give treats without her eating food first, and wouldn't give in! As soon as she went back home, back to her old ways. She still has an unhealthy attitude to food, and she's nearly 18 now. It is very much used as a tool to control her parents IYSWIM.

mrm- Yay for book token- what are you going to get?????

FlameNFurter · 31/01/2008 21:55

I always remember my mum going on at me that up to about 3 they dislocate really easy and not to pick them up by wrists, arms etc Might be worth getting her checked out. Will be a pretty colour by morning if it is dislocated.

Just felt the need to share EPPM
