lol - flame forget to send them to me until this afternoon, and I haven't had a lot of time to think since then! Love ds1 name . Something like Henry George would go well though I think.

We're not dairy free any more dame - she has grown out of it . Was just talking to dh, and think we'll go for some bread (found some soft bread sticks in Sains the other day which might be good - most of the children I know don't really do sandwiches), and then stuff like sausages, cucumber, cheese (though dd doesn't actaully like pieces of it!), crisps (have some organix ones in the cupboard already I think), beetroot (to keep dd happy - she loves it), plain pasta and some fruit (better have lychees for poncey dd).
And of course cake. Have to have cake.
Oh suppose some meat and tomatoes for those that do, and some raw sugar snap peas, and some boiled eggs.
(Am writing it all down so that I can refer to this as my shopping list ).

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/01/2008 21:48

Am ordering poncey no effort food for Saturday guests though . Will be aimed more at adults.

damewashalot · 30/01/2008 21:54

Are main problem with boys names is we picked our favourite 2 for ds 1 and keep having boys

Going to my bed, tired, night

EachPeachPearMum · 30/01/2008 21:54

Homemade pizza, cut into slices?

Phoenix · 30/01/2008 22:03

It's her birthday let her eat crap

I'd def go for sandwich's, they go down well with most kids (i often do ds ham sarnies for lunch and he eats the ham and leaves the bread, yesterday i used tortilla wrap instead of sliced bread and he ate the bread and left the ham ) he loves cubes of cheese. veg sticks/slices good. I know i'm only telling you stuff everyone else has but i am answering your question

We ended up getting ds the Britax Evolva car seat it came today so i'm gonna attempt fitting it in the morning.

FlameNFurter · 30/01/2008 22:39

Not taking much in - a whole new Psycho/shield thing going on and am all over the place

Hopefully will settle after some sleep

Phoenix · 30/01/2008 23:00

Can anyone tell me what i can do with mushrooms or how to cook them. I hate them so have no idea but ds seems to like them (strange child ) so i've bought some.

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/01/2008 23:07

Ooh I love mushrooms, but dd doesn't seem to like the texture, so we don't have them much these days.

Do you just want to know how to cook them basically so that they can be served with other stuff, or do you want dishes that centre around mushrooms?

EachPeachPearMum · 30/01/2008 23:11

dd loves them raw just sliced.
put them in stew, casserole, pasta sauce (tomato or mushroom type), on pizza, in omelette, or scrambled eggs, lightly sauted on toast...

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/01/2008 23:11

I'll give both anyway!

Just to cook simply you can either slice and fry them in a little butter (maybe add a dash of oil to stop the butter from burning), or you can poach them in a little milk (this is yummy and healthier, but I hate it when they get milk skin on them!), or you can just boil or steam them.

Meals using mushrooms include mushroom (and blue cheese) risotto, garlic mushrooms, mushroom stroganoff.

They are also good in stir fries or casseroles.

Phoenix · 30/01/2008 23:12

Just cooked really. If we have chilli, bolognese etc. dh could put them in cos he likes them too but ds won't eat things like that or not much of it at least the awkward little bugger

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/01/2008 23:12

Ooh yes, creamy mushroom sauce for pasta. Had that in Cafe Rouge at the weekend.

Phoenix · 30/01/2008 23:13

He won't eat scrambled egg any more either EPPM.

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/01/2008 23:15

What does he like these days Phoenix, except for mushrooms and deconstructed sandwiches?

Phoenix · 30/01/2008 23:17

He's just an awkward little sod lately when it comes to eating. He is getting better than he was a few month back but still not great. He eats plenty of fruit and veg and cheese though so it can't be too bad

EachPeachPearMum · 30/01/2008 23:18

eugh ... 'milk skin'

Phoenix · 30/01/2008 23:18

x posts csws, basically not much

EachPeachPearMum · 30/01/2008 23:19

this is making me hungry

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/01/2008 23:21

Tis past my bedtime (was catching up with Grand Designs). Just keep on thinking about milk skin and that will quash your appetite .

Night all.

Phoenix · 30/01/2008 23:21

The other day while i was at work dh asked him what he wanted for his tea and went through a list of things which he mostly said no to except cheese and sweetcorn so that's what dh gave him lol

Phoenix · 30/01/2008 23:23

Goodnight

Ewww just thinking about mushrooms is making me feel ill

EachPeachPearMum · 30/01/2008 23:36

v tired too, am off. night night.

FlameNFurter · 31/01/2008 07:39

Phoenix - really easy method would be to put them in a lidded dish with a knob of butter and microwave em for a minute or so None of this cooking malarky

Phoenix · 31/01/2008 08:10

Thanks Flame, that sounds easy

It's pi**ing down and windy here today it's horrible

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/01/2008 08:22
