Islamum- Your mum sounds sensible!!! Its true not matter what fad we follow they will all get there in the end.

Pixie- Oh my goodness! I wonder how she finds the energy!!

DD is full of beans this morning. She has lots of gunk in one eye so I hope its not conjuctivis. It doesn't look weepy or sore so maybe just a bit of a cold as we have both been a bit snuffly this week. While I was typing just now she rolled from her back onto her side and nearly went right over. That's the first time she has looked like she was going to purposely roll over. She has gone from tummy to back twice on dry land and once in the bath, all 3 times a fluke and she didn't know how she had done it. I'm off to 'train' her. .

sarahloumadam · 16/04/2008 10:05

Very true Islamum!

Poor Ellie getting in a tangle RG! I still have to swaddle Adam to put him down but then I unravel him after about an hour otherwise he wakes himself up trying to stretch out. He hardly moves at all - lazy boy, just like his mum.

Febes - why not?! There is something attractive about moving on to number 2 while you are still in a pregnant/baby mindset. I was looking at newborn pics of Adam the other day and already I am struggling to remember him being that tiny and newborn.

LOM - glad it is not just me, one of these days I'll get around to going for a facial - ha!

Well Adam managed not to scream at the sight of the MIL yesterday. She has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works though by admitting that she only wants to look after Adam 1 day a week instead of 2 (which I suspected all along, glad she is being honest with us) and when I phoned the childminder to see if she could do another day she told me she is preggers and can't look after him at all! So, for the loveliest of reasons, we are back to the drawing board with child care. Whoops. At least I have until August to try and arrange it. DH v.understanding but said we might have to tighten our belts - magazines and choc biscuits were mentioned ! Flaming cheek.

Hi everyone!

Sunny here in Kent too but it's Wednesday so i was at my Wednesday mums lunch.

DD tried some carrot puree today and absolutely LOVED it!! She saw the little pot and spoon and somehow knew it was food for her and started getting really exciting and kicking her legs about, bless her! Glad she's liking her veg already.

Hope she sleeps a bit better tonight - she had me up countless times between 1.30am and 3am last night! Eeek!! Send her sleepy vibes everyone please!

Hope you are all well!

xx

I've abandoned the BLW- lots of reasons but mainly the fact that she's mixed fed and I think that makes a difference to BLW so I have started her yesterday on mashed food as opposed to purees. She seems interested but still spits it out

RGPargy · 17/04/2008 08:26

Pixie - the carrot that DD had was more like mash than puree too. Much better i think!

Afternoon All,

I'm getting used to these sunny days, what a pity it's meant to rain tomorrow!

Not much to report here, though William is now suddenly sitting well unsupported for minutes at a time - a week ago he would just fall over! It's like a switch has been flicked inside him! I'm just trying to work out whether I need to see a doctor as I have a sort of bruise around my left nipple, it's really dark but not painful or lumpy. Any ideas? Surgery closed until 2pm so can't phone for over an hour - how annoying!

Islamum · 17/04/2008 12:47

Sleepy vibes to you RGP - my lo really doesn't get sleep either, she wanted to party at 1.30 last night little minx!

She is def. teething, been waking up inconsolable last 3 nights, so unlike her, normally such a happy thing, been giving her calpol but don't want to keep giving her it, worried about her tummy.

Pixie dd initially spat out food until she worked out how to push it to the back of her mouth.

SLM hope you work out childcare, we are discussing what to do when i go back with my mil this weekend!

She had banana for brekkie and loved it. Just had pearfor lunch and not interested.

I will give her finger food alongside the purees I think Loopy

SparklyGothKat · 17/04/2008 14:03

Callum is kinda mixed fed between purees and finger foods. He can pick up toast, breadsticks, carrots etc and can happily eat them, but he also likes the purees too. He just looks too small to be eating, especially in the supermarkets cafes highchairs.

Islamum · 17/04/2008 16:25

Whay sling you looking at loopy?

Febes · 17/04/2008 18:17

We accepted an offer on our house today so quite exciting. We can start to planning for the next stage now.
DD is definately teething and is a bit miserable. Woke screaming at 2am this morning.
Anyone else feeling the pinch money wise. We have the house money when that comes through but don't want to touch that because it needs to go towards a new house in NZ. But our current account is looking very sad. I sat down and wrote a budget so hopefully that will help.
Have to go talk later

Pixiefish · 17/04/2008 18:27

I've blogged my breastfeeding troubles if anyone fancies a look here

SparklyGothKat · 17/04/2008 18:35

Loopy- I really don't want to make out I'm special because I'm not but after my experience i really can say that there aren't many women who can't feed their baby. I know it's a contentious issue but i'd rather people said they didn't want to rather than they couldn't

Pixiefish · 17/04/2008 19:41

btw- anybody that wants to pass the link around can because i've deleted all identifiers so there's nothing I wouldn't want people to know in there

ChocolateHobnob · 18/04/2008 08:30

Congrates Febes!

And even more congrats Pixie for all your perseverance. I read your blog just now and found it very inspiring. Tbh I've had an easy time bf: DD bf like a bottle-feeder (ie though I demand feed, she regulates herself very neatly and doesnt feed at night!) and is very quick on the breast. I've had no pain and I've loved it. I know it's a lot harder for a lot of people and I think your story would encourage someone who thinks they simply have to give up. Thanks for writing it down!

All's well here. New icandy cherry arrived yesterday - looks fab. Also went to Jo Jingles which was fun.

Loopy, get a new sling! you know you want one.

RG, are you officially weaning Ellie now then (carrot mash)?

Time to sort stuff out cos friend coming for lunch and need to go buy bday present for DH. Hugs to everyone!

Islamum · 18/04/2008 10:07

Congrats Febes, our current account is also looking sad, started to eat through our savings, need to go back to work really
wow loopy thats a lot of slings, which has been most useful? guess a woven wrap would complete the set. I have a moby wrap which has been great, but now dd is so big her legs go below my hips i find it a bit awkward, need to work out how to strap her to my back i guess.
great blog pixie, very inspiring
gotta go lo trying needs changing

RGPargy · 18/04/2008 11:09

Congrats Febes!

Choc - no, not at all officially weaning, just trying stuff now and then lol

Going off to get Ellie weighed in a sec so will catch up later.

Have a good day everyone!

Oh my goodness!
So there has been a bidding 'war' on our house today and now we have 2000 more and are moving as soon as. Wow so much for a credit crunch. Feeling much more positive about our money situation now!! We have to find a flat to rent for the next 6 months before the big move to NZ but at least the house will be all done and dusted and we will just have to pack and go in Oct. I didn't want to be completing on our house and immigrating in the same week!

Pixie- Your blog was amazing, so inspirational. I too have had an easy time bf and as you also fed easily with DD1 it must have been a shock to have such a different experience. Well done for all you achieved I'm sure others will draw strength from you.

I meet up with our antenatal group today and it was so nice to see all the girls and babies. They are all getting so big and are all very beautiful.

I haven't tried any solids yet I will wait until the end of May when shes 6 months but I'm getting excited about it.

Its miserable and cold here today. Have a nice afternoon girls!!
