Hi all

briefly, cos no time to post, but wanted to say:

  • Sparkly, I just bought an i-candy cherry for the exact same reason!!! It is so light and lovely - well it will be when it arrives.
  • Sarah, my DH's grandad died when my SIL'S child was a baby - older than Adam, she was about 10 months I think. What they did, though, was she stayed with her dad outside the church during the service but went to the reception thing after, and it was good that she was there cos it cheered people up -- could you do that?
  • RG, Ellie IS a good girl. My little girl needs tips from her - she was dire again last night, couldn't have had more than 3 hours in total!

My news is: got no sleep practically last night and am a zombie, but WE'VE SOLD OUR HOUSE!!! Well we have accepted an offer on it from a buy to let person and have had an offer accepted on a new bigger house near my parents, which isn't in a chain as the owners have already moved. Hurrah!

Hugs to you all.

sarahloumadam · 30/03/2008 09:45

Good idea Choc and probably the best solution all round. x

sarahloumadam · 30/03/2008 09:46

Sorry about your lack of sleep btw, poor you, hope you get the chance to catch up today.

iris66 · 30/03/2008 09:51

Hi all [iris creeps in at the back hoping nobody will notice she's not posted for months ]
I've been reading the thread sporadically but haven't had time to post as I've been away visiting family & friends quite a bit. DS2 is still a joy but has been comitting slow murder by waking every 2 hours for the past few weeks .
He loves bouncing in the door bouncer (can only use it when DS1 is out the way or else he caterpaults him all over the place )sitting (propped up) and is currently risking carpet burns on his nose by propelling himself forward on his face (awww) Love him to bits... will really try to post properly later . Glad everyone's well - though I feel for you Loopy re sleep

Hi everyone!
Hope you all had good weekends. I starting work tomorrow so feeling a little scared and worried about my wardrobe as everything in it is too tight or faded or just wrong. Anyway I'm sure it will be fine DH is excited about looking after DD and has a list of jobs to do like washing and cooking dinner. Goodness knows what we'll end up with. I'm looking forward to seeing all my kids and talking to reall people all day. Hopefully it will be fine....

fiona76 · 30/03/2008 20:38

BTW I have finally added 3 new photos to my profile. Anabel at 3 months and then her and sisters baby Luke who is 4 months older than her when we were in NZ.

RGPargy · 30/03/2008 21:06

Ara - forgot to say that Phoebe is a darling!!

Sarah - glad the dropping of the 11 o'clock feed worked out for you. I did the same thing with Ellie and she still woke up at 3am as usual so now unless she wakes up demanding a feed, she doesn't get fed from bed time til 4am! Glad you enjoyed your pedicure.

Choc - sorry you are having sleep problems. I doubt very much Ellie's sleeping pattern will last very long. They change all the time dont they! Fantastic news about your house too. It's good news like that that helps you make it through the day when you're knackered!

Iris - hello! Good to have you back! Sorry you're also having sleep problems. Hope it improves soon!

Loopy - i'd love to buy a new buggy too but i really dont see the point either because Ellie isn't in her pushchair much either. I'm happy to stick with our Britax and then get a little umbrella buggy when she's old enough, probably when she's a year old. Saying that, it'll be cold then and Ellie will need the warmth and cosiness of her Britax so.....

Those with door bouncers - what age are they suitable from? I always thought DD was too young for you. DS had one when he was a baby and LOVED it but i thought he was a bit older than 4 months. Perhaps i'm mistaken??!!

Ellie had another great night last night. Bed between 8 and 9, feed at 4am and then back to sleep til 9am! Good girl!!!

Hope you all get some good rest tonight.

Have spent a good ten minutes admiring all these cute babies (it's making me broody which is very foolish!)

sarahlou - I took my DD to my grandmother's funeral in Feb last year, she was one and a half at the time. Everyone said it felt so right to have her there, and my grandad was really pleased I took her. She gave me a lot of comfort too.

choc - congrats on the house move!

fiona - hope work went well today.

loopy - glad you had a lovely time at the baptism. I am so looking forward to William's next Sunday. My Dad is a chaplain for an old people's charity so he doesn't get to do many baptisms these days.

rg - love the braids, will try to find one of DH to scan in from when he had braids at uni.

Re prams, if I just have William I use the pram which is rear-facing, he's getting a bit big so I will put the seat on soon which is also rear facing. However, if I have both of the children I need to use the double buggy and that's forward facing. I don't like that so much but it was our only option when choosing a double buggy when working out what would fit in the car etc. DD looks after William though.

I've managed to get some work done in both the front and back garden this weekend. The front was looking dreadful (and it's tiny so there's no excuse really) so I planted some bedding plants and got rid of lots of debris. DH bought me my dream outfit for William's christening and we had a friend from uni come to visit before she heads off for a new life on the Greek island of Paxos. William is sleeping brilliantly some nights and not on others, there's no discernable pattern either which is annoying, but I suppose the nights are getting better slowly.
DH and I have been planning our joint birthday party at the end of next month. We're both going to be 30, so are having a 60th! Another event to look forward to!

sam86 · 31/03/2008 16:45

long time no see everybody!!

its just taken me about ten minutes to find this thread so im glad to see it was worth the effort and you are all here and doing well!!

just wanted to pop on, been thinking of you all and how you were getting on!

everything is pretty much ok here, raimee is brilliant- shes been sleeping through the night since about 7 wks, usually from 9pm till 7am so i cant complain! -never believed i would have a baby that slept at night tbh! choc am happy 4 u with ur house! we are trying to buy our first house together (we rent at the mo) and as dp is self employed and current mortgage fiasco it has been a nightmare, but hopefully it will be ok and we could be in in a month!

hope your all doing well, miss you!! sam xx

sam86 · 31/03/2008 16:48

just caught up a bit-
jealous of the buggys and the pedicure!! x

fiona76 · 31/03/2008 18:08

Well I survived my first day at work. Anabel loved being with Daddy all day and was an angel taking bottles of EBM and having good naps. Work was fine except I barley fit in my clothes so felt frumpy. The kids were lovely and welcomed me back. I was given a room to express in with fridge of my own and lock on the door so that went well I was ready to burst in the staff meeting at the end of the day so was very pleased to get home only to find DD asleep and just had a small bottle half an hour before but it was ok I expressed a bit more just to relieve myself and then fed her when she woke.
People at work annoyed me a bt everyone was like 'was it hard leaving her' and 'did you feel guilty' and stuff like that. I know they were trying to be nice but it annoyed me because it made me feel bad and I was fine with our arrangement and hearing them be nice just made me think of her more. They also made me feel like I was a bit useless and not up to it yet. I guess I would have felt funny about it regardless of what they did or said. 2 more days until I can stay home again.

Well dona Fiona! I hated those comments when I went back after having DD and no doubt it'll be the same this time. I had some really judgemental students last time, girls mainly, who made lots of unhelpful comments. Don't feel bad - you are a great example to your daughter

RGPargy · 31/03/2008 21:39

Jet - hope your 60th birthday () goes ok and that you do something FAB!

Sam - Helloooo!! Glad DD is sleeping through for you, how spoilt you have been!

Fiona - well done for tackling the first day at work! I'm really really not looking forward to going back to work in August AT ALL!! I'm having far too much fun being a lady of leisure!

Loopy - is DD3 old enough for back carrying now then? What carrier do you use? I wouldn't mind using my babyhawk or wilki in the backwards hold if i knew DD was old enough, although i must admit i hardly use either my pushchair or my carriers at the moment!

Ellie has been sleeping very well still. She has a slight cold tho, so i'm not sure if that's making her tired or what. But for the last four nights she's slept from 8pm til 4am. This morning tho she woke at 3am and then 7am but it's still not bad! She's also done THREE poos in THREE days!! What's going on?!!! I cant keep up with it all!

Hmmm, i'll probably wait til about 6 months in that case, as she's still fairly floppy really lol. I have no idea how to use the wilki in the back position! Must check it out on the website for future reference.

It IS boring tonight isn't it. DP and I are playing COD4 lol.

SparklyGothKat · 01/04/2008 22:18

he is doing well, he has chubby cheeks, and little fat legs and arms now He is on 2 meals a day too now. He really enjoys his food. He is no longer having formula at all, just breastmilk

RGPargy · 01/04/2008 22:40

You must be really proud of yourself. You've done a brilliant job with him and your persistence with BF in the early days is admirable.
