Jet - Yes it's bloody annoying!! Especially as she was STATIONARY but still managed to get distracted enough to reverse into me!!! I really do hope she gets nicked, simply because she just drove off.

Gutted that you cant have more than half a glass of wine! I'm enjoying my third glass here!

I have to say that i have noticed that alot of you are expressing and going out for evening! I feel positively left out! Perhaps it's because (a) i have no mates to go out with anymore and (b) i dont really feel like it because it's me that gets up at silly o'clock to feed DD! I'm DESPERATE to get my hair done tho so maybe i should get a pump so that i can get it done - it's normally a long stint in the hairdressers to have it cut and coloured, although saying that, DD is now going 4 hourly between feeds so maybe i could squeeze a hairdressing session in.....

Silk - poor little Megan. Let's hope the specialist finds out what's wrong really soon.

PMSL @ the meeting with your boss tho. Sod's law, eh?

Let me know how you get on with Megan in her own room. DD will be doing this soon because she is really getting too small for her basket now. When i first put her in it she came just half way up the basket but now she's nearly at the top!

Ara - My car was broken into that way too!! You're not from Birmingham are you?! It happened to me on the driver's side and nothing was taken thankfully. I was in Birmingham after taking my DJ mate to his gig from Kent and it was pissing down with rain and freezing cold so the really kindly bouncers at the club where my mate was playing helped us out by bending the door back in again with the sheer brute force of them! I never did get it repaired professionally as they sorted it right out!

I must admit i was a bit bemused as to why the garage were very keen to pick the car up, until it twigged that they would sell it for spares or repair it too. Not sure they would make much on it tho as it's an old '97 Vectra so hardly worth fighting over! Still, I will ring up my insurance company on Monday and have a go at them as to why (a) they haven't told me the car's a write off and (b) they haven't had the courtesy to return my call that i made to them on bloody Thursday!

Happy 30th Birthday for Thursday!! If it's any consolation, i turned 40 in January. I'd much rather be 30 and ignored than 40, i can tell you!!

Skirmish - hello and welcome!! Congrats on your little DS.

Right, back to watching DP play COD4 now. For those who dont know, it's a shoot-em-up game that you play with other people online in settings that resemble places like Iraq etc. I've been playing it too but i'm absolutely rubbish. In one hour i got killed 69 times!

Hope you all get lots of rest.

lol me and Lisad tried to get out tonight, because her Dd2 sleep through and Callum sleeps from 9-4 now, but we don;t have the money atm. We told our Dhs we were going dancing pmsl, I can bearly walk atm (done something to my ankles while training for the 'race for life') At least I know we can go out if we want now.

Pixiefish · 03/02/2008 08:25

I'ma bit down in the dumps today. Dh only takes one daya week off and we hae loads of jobs to do round here- we NEED to get the caravan sorted so that we can rent it out and then get some money coming in off it. IN my heart I know this but I am so fed up of the groundhog day that is my life.
I think I'm fed up of being on my own so much just me and the kids.
Moan over sorry

ChocolateHobnob · 03/02/2008 10:07

Hi Pixie you're bound to be fed up - all the stress over dd2's weight as well as everything else. How is she doing? Big hugs to you and don't beat yourself up about things not getting done.

RG- I havent been out either...

Rebecca now goes all night without a feed! but she doesnt sleep. Hmm. She also does 360 degree turns in her bed by lifting her legs very high, kicking, and banging down, using the momentum to turn. It's noisy and annoying. She's so cute though. And she has a cold which is horrible.

Her grandparents have been here for the w/e so she has been spoilt.

I NEED MY HAIR CUT AND COLOURED TOO!!! Urgently.

We're having an October thread meet up tomorrow (I'm there too cos was due in Oct though she was born in Nov). Six of us and babies! Fun.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

skirmish · 03/02/2008 13:36

silkcushion - sorry, should have been a bit clearer, you use it instead of wipes/water/whatever. Make up a solution of tea and then use it with cotton wool to clean bottom...does that make sense?

Pixiefish · 03/02/2008 15:27

ta Choc. i just feel alone cos dh works so much i spose

littleoldme · 03/02/2008 16:33

RG - get your hair done and come up to leeds. You and Ellie can stay at our house, DH can baby sit and you me and Choudru can have a night on the tiles. What say you. Seems like a fool proof plan to me.

Oh and I've finished watching heroes. I loved it so thanks for the loan. If you e-mail your address I'll post them back to you. XX

Pixie - Sorry you are feeling in the dumps. big hugs.

Choc- enjoy your meet up. Sounds llike good fun.

We are off to the local curry house for their Sunday night buffet. 6 adults and 4 kids. I bet they'll love us!

LittleMissBliss · 03/02/2008 22:15

Uh oh Cobys teething............

SparklyGothKat · 03/02/2008 23:04

LMB I think Callum is teething too, he is grumpy as hell, has two small white marks in his gums, is always chewing his hands or poor teddy.

silkcushion · 03/02/2008 23:40

Megan is very dribbly and constantly chewing her fist (anything near her mouth)but I thought it was too soon for teething

She seems to be getting on very well in her own room. Doesn't have a problem being put to bed, goes to sleep extremely well. Having said that, she has worked in at four AM on both nights but I think it was more to do with her eczema getting worse and causing her distress.

jetgirl · 03/02/2008 23:47

RG - my DH is currently playing COD4 now! That's when I mumsnet, he spends hours on it, just think, our men have probably either shot each other or been on the same side!

Pixie - sorry you're , and you're not alone as we're all here for you xx

Hi skirmish, nice to meet you when's your DS's birthday?

ara - Happy Birthday for Thursday. Men can be rubbish can't they. When DH was registering DS's birth he had to phone me to ask when my birthday was - considering it's 5 days after his I thought that was pretty rubbish!!! I could hear the woman at the office laughing as he asked

DD and I made chocolate marzipan biscuits today, they are yummy. It's part of my new year resolution to try one new recipe a week to maximise my recipe book usage and justify the huge amount of shelf space they take up!!

RGPargy · 04/02/2008 10:29

Pixie - Hope you're feeling a bit better today. I know how lonely it can be just being around the kids - i was a single parent with DS for a good few years. Venting and ranting on here is fine - it's what we're here for. x

Choc - Rebecca sounds like a right athlete!! Enjoy the October meet.

LOM - that sounds like an offer too good to miss!! I've got lovely roots that are about 2 inches long, which is massive considering my normal hair length is about 3 inches or so lol. Think I'd have to bring DP as well tho to keep your DH company with the babies. Glad you enjoyed Heroes. Blueyonder mail is down nationally at the moment so can you email me at rgpargy at yahoo dot com and i'll give you my address. No hurry tho. Sunday night curry buffet sounds wonderful!!! Hope it was good!

Hope you mums of all the teethers have had some rest. Get the bonjela at the ready!

Jet - Oh how funny!!! I bet they have played/killed each other! What's his user name and i'll look out for him. I take it he's on PS3? When i went to bed last night and closed my eyes, all i could see was the cross mark in DP's gun aim red dot sight thing, and we'd not been playing it for over an hour but we were still seeing the bloody game!

That's a good idea about one new recipe a week. I'm hopeless at thinking about what to do for dinner. So hopeless in fact that i have now written out a menu planner for a week. I think i'll have to do it over two weeks tho because if you eat the same stuff it does get boring and it'll give me the chance to introduce new menus too. Tonight is home made pizza night. I say "homemade" but what i actually mean is bought pizza bases, bought sauce and a few mushrooms and cheese chucked on top lol.

Does anyone's baby do arm flinging when they're awake? What i mean is like when something makes them jump and they look a bit startled and fling their arms out to the side. Cant remember the name of the reflex. Anyway, DD did it this morning. She was laying on my bed with her legs out of her babygrow and did these "jumps" a couple of times and then looked a bit scared and started crying, so i picked her up and she was fine. She did it again when i put her in her cot while i was getting today's clothes ready. Then we moved downstairs and she was on her changing mat on the sofa in her vest and did it again and started crying. Does anyone know what this is? Could it be that she was cold? She still had the night's nappy on so it could have been cold and wet on her bum as well as having fewer clothes on than normal. It worried me a bit - i'm sure it's something trivial.

Going to walk to Asda again today. It's about 20 minutes each way so i think i'll take my ipod. It's my little pursuit of fitness. It's not much, but it's a start until i get the courage to actually do one of my exercise DVDs while DD is sleeping. I wont be getting any muffins tho!! Yikes!!!

LittleMissBliss · 04/02/2008 12:33

Lots of grizzling, bright red chops and drbbling. Poor thing, I've given him calpol twice but don't want to make it a regular thing. Apparenly it can take as long as a month for the teeth to cut. Any helpful hints? What are you doing will Callum SGK?

RG- I was thinking of going for a walk as we live 10 min from the sea but its sooo cold! I may make myself, as healthy eating has slipped, allot (Gold bars yum!)

SparklyGothKat · 04/02/2008 12:35

he is dribbling too. I have been using bongela on his gums.

ThisCharmingMum · 04/02/2008 12:36

Hi everyone,

It's another hectic day here - just been to see a local nursery - it was nice, did really well in the Ofsted reports, but it didn't feel 'right' to me. I don't know why - maybe it didn't help that i was feeling tired and a bit tired of looking at nurseries (3rd one). There's one more I want to check out and then that's it.

Working to a tight schedule today. Got Ds's football this afternoon, followed by a home visit from the HV to check Sara's progress with weight.

Spent the weekend at in-laws. Was hectic but fun (fun at the in-laws!!! )

RG - Oh pleeease come up to Leeds. It would be so lovely to meet you! About social life in Kent - get Ellie signed up for some baby massage/sing and sign/waterbabies or something similar. It's a great way to meet other mums. No excuses - Ellie will love it.

Pixie - you poor thing feeling down in the dumps. Is there no way DS can work fewer hours?

Silk - good luck with Megan's skin. Sara is constantly making bubbles and chewing her hand as well - I guess babies teeth at all ages. DS didn't cut a tooth until he was 11 months so I guess I'm not expecting Sara to be thinkin about such things just yet!

Ara - happy birthday - men can be so rubbish when it comes to birthdays. My DH is a sweetheart when it comes to bringing me unexpected little gifts - nothing expensive - just odd little things he knows I would like. But when it comes to birthdays and anniversaries - he is awful. I have learnt to stop taking it personally - now I just 'gently' steer him into the direction of the kind of birthday I want. Speaking of which - I'm 32 in less than 2 weeks - I'd better get steering!

Littlemissbliss - wow - thanks for te info. I don't know anything about BLW but I cerntainly will be researching it now that you have brought it up. Sounds jolly interesting. We had a nightmare with DS when he was younger. Any sign of a lump in his food and he would vomit. I don't know if it was him being fussy or the fact that he was a premmie. He's fine now at the age of 2.5 but it was so stressful.

Better go - need to get lunch sorted.

SparklyGothKat · 04/02/2008 12:39

My ds1 teethed at 4 months, however my Dd1 didn't get teeth till she was 13 months old she still ate whatever we ate.. lol

LizzieO · 04/02/2008 15:29

Hi Everyone
hope your all well, its a lovely sunny day today, and i've had a noce relaxing day as DS at nursery this am, and then his gran has him this pm. Have however stuffed myself with biccies and god knows what.....this is why its always best if i keep myself busy !

Ollie seems to just about be getting over his cold, we have all had it for a fortnight so its been snot city !!!

Thanks for info on weaning LMB, DS cut his first tooth at 4 months, and he was 8 weeks prem ! never had any problem with weaning as he loved his food right from the start and still does, Ollie does a lot of dribbling and sucking his fist, i thought it might be teething but its been going on so long, ans he doesn't appear to be in pain, the HV said it may well just be a comfort thing

Pixie - hope your feeling a bit brighter today, i know how you must feel, it can feel very isolating to be on youur own with kids, last weekend DH was busy all weekend and i was on my own with kids, its bloomin hard work

Choudru - hey you.. how ya doing, wanted to ask if you had noticed differences between Sara and DS with the whole premmie thing, i seem to remember DS1 sleeping loads, but Ollie is super alert,

RG Pargy - lol re: home cooking pizza's, hope you manage to nab the silly cow who bumped into you -
PS - interesting re alcohol and BF, i thought you had to stay under safe drinking limit, i thought everything affected the breastmilk

whoops Ollie isd awake catch you later
Lxxx

kekouan · 04/02/2008 16:04

Hi - was on the November antenatal thread but was really crap at keeping up with it. Not sure if I ever did a birth annoucement!

Can I join in? DS was born on 30th November

x

LizzieO · 04/02/2008 16:50

Hi Kekouan the more the merrier

Jetgirl - i think.......touch wood, cross fingers etc etc that DS is now finally potty trained he just takes himself off now and does his business.....ahhhhhh (that was a big sigh of relief) , but it has taken 4 weeks, in fact he still has a nappy on at night and yesterday he kicked up a fuss cos "big boys don't wear nappies ! "

In the end the most effective way was to religously set our kitchen timer for every hour, then when it went off it was "potty time" and he always got a sweetie after each poo or wee
Good luck x

silkcushion · 04/02/2008 16:53

Welcome back Ke - belated congratulations

Megan astounded me with her acrobatics last night - she turned 180 degrees in her cot so she was upside down and stuck her legs out of the bars - funnily enough she then cried!

Off to Tescos to get scrummy low fat food for tea. Weight watchers is working well so far - 12lbs in 3 weeks. YAY

silkcushion · 04/02/2008 16:54

Lizzie - well done to your big boy

Pixiefish · 04/02/2008 17:43

A bit brighter today, been to see some peeps and the weather's improving so I think that helps

fiona76 · 04/02/2008 19:01

Hi everyone. I have a stinking cold so feeling a bit rubbish but DD seems to be being kind to me and has had a sleepy day. She has now slept through the night for the last 5 nights. On sat morning she only woke at 8.45!! She is doing about 10-12 hours at night now. I'm not really following GF anymore but her routines help us get in our own routine and we are all happy. I know it could all change but I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

Me and DH had a massive sad and stressful talk today about our future. He is from SA and I am from NZ we meet here and have been here for 7 years but both want to go home to start our 'real life'. Problem is we both want to go back to our own countries- its so hard. Before DD was born I was thinking I could do SA but since having her I want to be near my own family and SA has high crime and low employment but he really wants to go there. Its always been an issue since we met and thats why we have stayed here so long but we both want to go now. I hope he can be happy in NZ. He needs to go with a positive attitude to make the most of it. We both wish that each other came from our countries.

fiona76 · 04/02/2008 19:03

Well done silk on the weight watches!! I've been crap the last few days and eating loads of rubbish. Feed a cold??? LOL at your work meeting and the 2 changes of clothes!!! They sure pick their moments don't they.

LittleMissBliss · 04/02/2008 20:49

Oh Fiona hope you and DP work things out its shame that there's a pull between your respective home countries. but i'm sure he will go with his head eventually and be happy to move to NZ.

Silk- I can't stick to diet i'm eating so much rubbish i'm blaming my sugar cravings on bf. Its all or nothing with me, I just need to get into the -ZONE- then i'm sure it'll melt off

welcome back kekouan!
Hello skirmish

Well we've got some bonjela and teething pegs (but they can't be used till 6months)

I can see the little blighter trying to push through, hopefully it'll cut soon.
He's all happy and chatty- then he screams or crys out in pain.
