I seem to have a velcro baby!! Not fair! she has been really off all day. Could it be from the jabs she had on Thursday?? I managed to put her on the couch sleeping so my arms could have a break but I'm hoping to get her back into her bed tonight.

I haven't got my period back yet- DD is 10 weeks this week. My sister hasn't got hers back yet and her DS is 6 months now so I hope thats the same for me but then again I want to get pregnant again in a few months so hopefully it will work. Lovely a few years without a period!!

I got another breast pump today and its much better its a manual advent isis one. The electric boots one I bought didn't work very well for me. Haven't quite mastered it on my own but DH 'milked' me earlier and it seemed to work well. Manual is easier anyway if I want to take it to work and I can express in the bathroom or in bed without worrying about plugs etc. This one is also much smaller and lighter so all and all I'm impressed.

I set up DD cot today and have put up bumper and mobile so its looking gorgeous in ther room. I have ordered a nice sprung mattress so thats on its way and I have her basket in the cot for the time being.

I feel like I should sport a new name but I have no imagination- any ideas??

jetgirl · 28/01/2008 20:55

Hi all, we've had a lovely w/e, went to friend's 30th birthday party, lots of kids there so DD enjoyed herself and William slept!

A family friend bought a Tommee Tippee breastpump for me, have yet to try it, and I've my trusty avent one if I don't get on with it. Must start expressing though as I have a night out next week.

Just to make some of you I had to wait 13 months for my periods to return after I had DD!!!! And William has done 2 nights of sleeping for 7+ hours I look almost human!

RGPargy · 28/01/2008 21:30

Evening ladies

Phew, i'm really tired tonight!! Well, i dont know if i should type this as i might be typing too soon, iyswim, but I put Ellie to bed tonight at 8pm We've had only a couple of dummy runs (i stayed in the room for 20 mins at one point just so as she didn't wake up too much when she knocked the dummy out) and since about 8.50 it's gone completely quiet up there. I'm keeping everything crossed that it stays that way!

DP had a small prang in the car the other day. He was in a queue of traffic at some lights and they went green so while he was fiddling with the stereo he pulled away, thinking that the bloke in front had pulled away too. Twang! went the car! Thankfully he was on his own and the damage was absolutely minor on the other car (you could just about see a slight dent in the bumper) but the bloody gits have claimed on our insurance! What's annoying is that DP said that he would rather not go through insurance and would be willing to repair the car himself. Perhaps they thought he wasn't insured or summat. Anyway, thankfully i'm fully comp and my no claims bonus is protected so all is not lost. I dont know how much it will affect my premium next year as it was DP as a named driver that had the accident and not me, but i spose we shall see when it comes to it. The good () about it tho is that they have come round to look at my damage today, which is quite a bit although my front bumper had had a few knocks anyway, and if it's over my excess to repair (£160) then i'll get a new bumper and a courtesy car while they're fixing it. So watch this space! Sorry for the long rant/post about boring car insurance!

We've got massage again tomorrow and i'm really looking forward to that. I gave Ellie a lovely full frontal massage tonight before her bath and she seemed to really enjoy it. She's been a very smiley chatty litle girl today and it's been lovely.

Periods - Mine has lasted for two days and was really light. I'm wondering if it was a period at all, although i suspect it was something to do with my body getting back to normal agaion.

I walked up to Asda today with the pushchair! I have to say i am probably really knackered from doing that. it's worn me out! How unfit am i! I'll have to knock Muffingate on the head very soon i think.

Anyone got their DCs in their own rooms yet? Ellie is getting a bit small for her basket so i'll be having to move her to her cot in her room soon (it wont fit in our room). I'm not looking forward to doing that at all! I will miss her in our room. I hope she'll be ok.....

Lizzie - i feel your pain! Ellie's sleep pattern is about the same, although she is only almost 8 weeks so she could be forgiven. Not sure that at 12 weeks babies should be sleeping through or not. I think they're all different so wouldn't like to say! DS was sleeping through at 9 weeks!

LMB - I dont miss a trick!

Ara - and double at Phoebe's 11 hour sleep! I've truly forgotten what it's like to sleep deeply for more than 2 1/2 to 3 hours lol. I cant believe she weighs 12lb!!!!! She is younger than Ellie, and she only weighs 10lb 3oz!

Charming - Soccatots sounds like fun. DS used to love all that sort of stuff when he was young too. I doubt i'll be taking DD along to anything boyful really. Shame.

Moving around London with a buggy is a PITA. A friend of mine very kindly gave me her Graco travel system for free as she was off travelling around Europe with her baby etc so i met her for lunch to pick it up. I could just see all the suits tutting at me as i wheeled around this pushchair back to the office. London is quite wheelchair friendly tho, so pushchairs aren't too much of an issue in the City.

I heard it was 8 weeks when they went from newborn to just plain "baby". 12 weeks sounds better tho doesn't it.

Fiona - I was thinking about getting the Avent Isis too. It's encouraging that you're getting on well with it. No ideas for a new name tho. Sorry!

Hope you all manage to get some decent sleep.

N'night! xx

Callum slept through to 4am last night (from 9pm) He went to bed at 9pm tonight too.

I am feeling so tired the last few days, I made a joke to Dh that maybe I was pregnant again, he said 'you better not be' because we haven't had sex in ages (only managed it twice since Callum was born 18 weeks ago) Anyone else's sex drive disappeared?? Dh is getting fed up with me having no sex drive

silkcushion · 29/01/2008 00:08

sgk I think having sex twice in 18 weeks is fairly normal when you have a new baby, let alone one who was premature! It's difficult to find time and/or energy with one baby let alone a house full of kids.

periods - I had a horrendous one at 4 weeks - lasted for eight days and was very heavy. Having another one now (nearly 12 weeks since dd was born) which is much more normal.

Rg - Megan is due to go in her own room next weekend. She is in her cot in ours at the moment but I can't face that when I return to work full time. She may be fast asleep but I hear every snuffle and grunt and stay awake watching her. Thought we try her own room before it was crucial so she'd get used to it. Might not happen though with her being unwell . Paediatrician is seeing her in 12th feb for a follow up - her skin is terrible but her little tummy is settling down.

RGPargy · 29/01/2008 09:10

Morning

Well Ellie slept quite well last night! She was in bed by 8pm, asleep by 9pm and then woke up at 3.45 and 6.45. She did wake me up at 2.45 as well, but she wasn't actually awake this time, just shouting in her sleep lol.

Sparkly - ugh, i have zero sex drive too, but we've had "relations" more than twice in eight weeks - i think about 4 or 5 times - but it's been me consenting more out of pity for him than anything else.

I thought my period had stopped but i think it was just a lull of false security there as it's back now. As we're using condoms, DP even suggested we have relations even when i'm "on"! I thought being "on" was my safety net for not having to have relations!! Is there no escape?!!

Silk - Ellie's basket has always been at the bottom of our bed so it hasn't been too bad as far as snuffles and grunts is concerned, plus DP and I are heavy sleepers so dont really hear them. Obviously as soon as she makes any vocal noise then my eyes are PING wide awake. Obviously with Megan being poorly, you'll probably have to hold off until she's better. What will happen if she's not better by the time you go back to work? Will you delay going back?

Off to baby massage in a bit. Hopefully when i get back i'll actually be able to have a shower! Typically, i haven't had a chance this morning, but now that we have to go out, Ellie is zonked out in her little chair.

Have a nice day everyone.

Tell your moaning husbands mine hasn't had it sionce dd2 was conceived on Feb 12th last year

I was so ill and tired through pg, have been ill and tired since having her- the last thing i'm interested in is sex

ThisCharmingMum · 29/01/2008 16:04

LOL @ Pixie - that makes me feel less guilty.

To be honest - it all seems like a lot of bother right now. I'm sure we'll be more up for it when a) We're feeling less utterly exhuasted all the time and b) we've got rid of a bit more of our jelly bellies.

My cold seems to have returned - boo!

But Sara and DS have allowed me a lovely long rest this afternoon which is wonderful.

LizzieO - just curious how the potty training went as we have started again with DD today, so far I have 8 pairs of wet training pants and nothing in the potty, but she seems keen so I hope it'll work soon! I've also been a bit impatient about William sleeping through as DD went through from 5 weeks, but he is getting there slowly, he did 10:30 - 6:30 last night which is great, but I'm not expecting it to be regular just yet.

I've found out today that my cousin is pregnant, and yesterday found out that a colleague is also expecting, weirdly a little jealous, but I think that's because I know I'm not having any more (unless we win the lottery and can buy a bigger house!) and I loved being pregnant. I took William into work yesterday and it was lovely to catch up with friends, and show off my gorgeous boy of course! it was also lovely to have people tell me how great I was looking

RGPargy · 30/01/2008 21:09

Blimey, it's quiet on here today!! How dare you all have lives! Actually, i had a bit of a life today too. I met the Bounty girls again today at Bluewater. Never been on the Bounty boards in my life but met them all through a local MNer. We're hiring a hall for next week so that the older tots can run around and play with toys that are brought along for them. Better that than trying to keep an eye on them at a large shopping centre!

Gave Ellie another massage after her bath and before bed tonight and so far (touch wood) it seems to have done the trick. Hardly any fuss and i think she even went to sleep after spitting her dummy out and laying there for a bit just looking around. Bless her. I'm not sure, but i think that us being in the room pottering around might have helped. Perhaps she doesn't like being on her own....

Hope you all had a good day. Wishing you restful nights!

My new toy arrived today - a sewing machine! I've managed to thread it and sew some rows - haven't used one since I was at school, it's been such a lot of fun, now I can neglect my children in 2 ways - MN and the sewing machine .

silkcushion · 30/01/2008 23:13

Jet - congrats on looking good already - very

Rg - you'd better watch out it sounds like yr becoming positively sociable

Well dd has just refused to sleep today, none of her naps (dozed for 20 mins in the car earlier) and you'd think she'd be knackered but oh no. She's refused to go to bed at 7pm (first time this has happened I think since the initial stage of training her) and she's still awake now - I want to go to bed!

SparklyGothKat · 31/01/2008 00:20

We have moved the moses basket out and put the crib into my room, as the moses basket was getting too small, and Callum HATES it!! He keep waking up and crying, he keeps getting his arm caught in the bars and loses his dummy onto the floor. He is still feeding at night, so I don't want to move him into his room yet. I hope he get used to it

nappyaddict · 31/01/2008 16:06

does anyone know if WORRYMUMMY comes on this thread? and if so does anyone have an email ad for her?

silkcushion · 31/01/2008 20:02

Nappy - she's not a poster on here - sorry

DanJARMouse · 31/01/2008 20:30

HELLO!!!!

So so sorry for deserting you all, just not getting the time on the computer anymore!

Work is going really well, considering it has been 4yrs since I last worked! Am finding it tiring, but really worthwhile. The patients at the home are on the whole a lovely bunch and my team mates are so funny.

Only doing days this week, go onto nights next week, but if things stay as they are, think I may well do days all the time - the night staff are apparently rather boring and crap lol

Daniel is coming on in leaps and bounds, was supposed to have his jabs today but he has a cough and cold (as do the rest of us) poor thing, so have postponed them til next week. We have had a few nights of him sleeping through - from about 8pm-6am which has been lovely, but he only seems to do it when the girls are the ones up in the night! No rest for the wicked!

Seemed strange earlier in the week to see how much he has grown, came back after not seeing him for 24hrs (late shift monday, early shift tuesday) and DH was holding him and he looked SO big, his head in the crook of DHs arm and DHs hand on his bum/top of legs - wasnt that long ago his feet were at DHs hand! He is comfortably in 3-6mnth clothes now, so is definately going to be long like his daddy! (DH is 6'4!)

HOpe you are all doing well, will try and catch up more often in between work and spending quality time with the kids - the girls have never known me to work so they are all over me when i get home after a shift because they miss me! (Lovely feeling!)

Take care xxx

jetgirl · 31/01/2008 21:14

silk - I'm sure people only say it because they feel they should, but it's still nice to hear it all the same!

Jarm - you sound like you're really enjoying work

The potty training is driving me crazy, DD will happily wee in her training pants, but not the potty, though she sill sit on it for ages. At least when she wees she asks for loo roll and wipes her bum! What with the washable nappies as well I feel like I'm constantly laundering and drying things, the bathroom looks like a professional laundry at the mo!

LittleMissBliss · 31/01/2008 21:19

hello everyone,

learnt about Baby led weaning today at my bf training very interesting.
will share my new found wisdom when the time comes, our LO have still got a way to go.

Nappyaddict- No sorry (I don't think anyway)

So whats everyone been up to....?

SparklyGothKat · 31/01/2008 21:26

LMB I have been asking about BLW for premature babies. Callum is 19 weeks next weeks and apparently we should start weaning in 7 weeks.. he is still the size of a newborn.

silkcushion · 31/01/2008 22:34

Jarm - very pleased to hear the new job is going well. I am in awe of you managing a job, a husband, a house and three little children.

I am starting to wonder how I will cope with working full time and one little baby. We visited nursery yesterday for an hour - Megan seemed happy enough - no surprise really, she's very chilled out and sociable luckily. The staff there are really looking forward to her starting - she will be the littlest by far and the only baby(under 12 months) who goes full time (even more guilty mother feelings for me).

I'm meeting my boss tomorrow to discuss returning over the next few weeks - he said please come back full time on monday and I'm not sure he was joking

Pixiefish · 01/02/2008 15:03

SGK- i thought the thinking with blw is that they start when they are ready. you shouldn't start him until he can sit up unaided and feed himself chunks of food.

Swyn only put onan ounce this week. i'm not meant to worry but it's very hard not to. i am sooo close to putting her on the bottle full time if it's my milk that's stoppiuing her from growing.

Going to see Sharon (bfeed expert ) next week again and will make a decision then.

She's justr about on the bottom of the chart for weight but is about 35th centile for height

fiona76 · 01/02/2008 15:29

Hi everyone!! Sounds like you are all busy. DD has started to sleep through until 6.30am which is amazing. My body is adjusting slowly the first few times I was awake hours before her and ready to feed but now getting used to it. I'm sure she will change again and it will all be different again in no time.
LMB- I don't know anything about BLW so would be interested to know. Are you paying for the Bf councilling course or did someone ask you to do it?
Jarm- Pleased you are enjoying work I'm starting part time in 2 months and looking forward to it but a bit nervous that I will be out of touch.

SparklyGothKat · 01/02/2008 17:49

hi, callum now weighes 10lb 12oz!!! he is filling ot nicely. the other day i thought his arm was swollen, and was panicking a bit, then I realised it was because he finally has some baby fat

RGPargy · 01/02/2008 17:57

Hi everyone

JARM - hope you're enjoying the job. Makes you feel human again doesn't it?!

Pixie - try not to worry about DD's weight gain. Hang in there.

Nothing much to report really.

DD had her first jabs today. The first jab she didn't even flinch for but the second one the nurse said would sting and she howled for that one! I've been out and about most of the day so she's been asleep in her car seat but now that i'm home she's quite grizzly and keeps waking up seemingly in pain. Not surprising really - i would be too if i'd had a jab in both thighs!! I've given her some Calpol tho so hopefully that will make her feel a bit better, bless her.

I was meant to have a nice relaxing day today after the jabs, but some silly cow decided to reverse into my (already battered up) car and drive off without stopping!!! She was on her bloody mobile phone at the time and when she realised she hit me she looked a bit like a bunny in headlights and did a runner. I'm thinking she's probably not insured. Worse thing was that DD was in the car so i was majorly pissed off that she'd not bothered to stop. As i was stationary and she was just reversing out of the space she was in, no one was hurt but she smashed my headlight so now i cant drive at night . I managed to get her number and a girl approached me and said she'd seen the whole thing so i called the police to report her leaving the scene of an accident. I really hope she gets done. I'm proper about it because (a) DD was in the car (b) i was just about getting away with driving the car with the damaged bumper from when DP drove into someone's back end the other day (!!!!!) and (c) the principle of the fact that she didn't bloody stop!

With regard to the accident that DP had the other day, i spoke to the garage as they wanted to know when they could pick the car up. I thought they were going to repair it but apparently (so the garage say) my insurance company have written my car off!! I'm still waiting for them to tell me this - another thing i'm majorly about! I called them but got an answerphone so left a message on Thursday and they still haven't called me back! If my car is a write off, why is the garage so keen to pick it up?? More than likely so that they can get more money for it! Cheek. I'd rather sell it on ebay as spares or repair than give it to the garage.

Sorry, long rant.

I'm saying goodbye to Muffingate i have decided. Apart from them being bad for my waistline, i'm now finding that i'm eating at least two a day and i just know that i'd end up eating a whole box of four if i didn't watch it! So they are no more. Finished. Caput.

Right, i'm off to have a rant on Myspace. Have a nice evening everyone!
