morning!

Does my DP win the prize for the most geriatic first time Dad at 46 (and a half!)?

thisisRialifebaby · 31/12/2007 12:04

pre-los DH & I used to go to the little cafe at the end of Coble Landing for hot chocolate and bacon butties. We worked in one of the hotels right on the seawall too - so perfect coming out at night to see the moon reflected in the waves. sometimes I can hear the sea from my garden if it's quiet and the wind's right.

see, I can find nice things to say sometimes

suppose I should go and attempt some kind of activity.

LittleMissNorty · 31/12/2007 12:16

What sort of pet have you inherited Ria?

Morning all

I'm knackered already....can't see me making it till midnight

justbeme · 31/12/2007 12:22

Glad to have you back Ria if i havent said that before.

can i have a quick run down of what your feeding Lo's for breccy/lunch and tea at the moment?

Breccy - Ive been cheating and using the baby cereals plus fruit

lunch - just starting on this really - but L loves cheese.

tea - cauliflower cheese/veg/chips (last night - she had 3 !) - cheese - again!

and the odd jar.
I havent actually made her anything special yet so need some inspiration.
(but i cant see me making goose a la Jammy!)

thisisRialifebaby · 31/12/2007 12:41

I am still sat here wallowing in misery...

it's guinea pigs, but not the hardy-live-outside type like ours, there's a bit of PFP (precious first pet) syndrome going on. Or maybe I'm an evil animal abuser and should be reported to the RSPCA? We have had to give a whole room over to their indoor cage and keep in shut because I'm terrified my cat will get in and open the cage and eat them... (so it's a bit smelly) I'm afraid I haven't had them out sat on the best cushions to eat their carrots though

baggins has just started 3 meals, breakfast, baby cereal, lunch petit filous, tea veg puree and rice, sometime with the odd jar or packet. I have got my "cooking for baby" books out and plan to make a few more interesting things this week. lentil with carrot and maybe a pasta thing. Will let you know how I get on cos no doubt it'll be funny

thisisRialifebaby · 31/12/2007 12:41

does he act like he's 46 though jbm?

LittleMissNorty · 31/12/2007 12:42

JBM

K's menu today is

Breakfast - some porridge stuff made up with formula. I've just moved her onto the lumpy 7 month old stuff. Also 9oz milk first

Another bottle about 10.30 - but she only had 3oz

Lunch was a puree of whatever is in freezer in cubes (mainly veg) together with some cooked baby pasta to provide lumps. She also had a slice of bread and butter (didn't eat it all though), followed by fromage frais

Tea will be out of the freezer again . Whatever I cook for us the day before, I mash up and freeze for DD, so in the freezer we currently have spag bol, Xmas dinner and toad in the hole with mash and veg. I usually give her fruit afterwards - again, have a variety of cubes in the freezer - apple, pear, mango, kiwi etc

I do give her finger foods as well, but she tends to only eat them when I put them in her mouth - if she does pick anything up, she throws it

HTH

LittleMissNorty · 31/12/2007 12:44

Oh and 9oz milk before bed at 7pm - she used to have a bottle mid-afternoon, but she's dropped it....looks like her lunch-time one is going the same way.

With her meals she'll sip juice out of a cup as well - sort of!

Ria - think you should text your friend and get rid...indoor guinea-pigs.....

justbeme · 31/12/2007 12:48

Lol at the "menu" Norty! Sounds very posh!
Hadnt thought about rice or baby pasta.
Why cubes of pear? ive been giving L sliced raw pear.

He's 47 now Ria - and no, he swings from being a spolit little boy to being a grumpy old man!

LittleMissNorty · 31/12/2007 12:50

Only got cubes of cooked pear from when I first started weaning - she was only about 19 weeks.

We are really getting into meat now as well as she seems to enjoy it....

thisisRialifebaby · 31/12/2007 13:14

ah, glad he's not perfect jbm! (sounds just like DH actually, 42 and coumting!)

does DD sleep from 7pm norty?

LittleMissNorty · 31/12/2007 13:17

Yes Ria - till I wake her up in the morning - 6am on a work-day, 7.30am on a normal day....I know, I'm a very lucky mummy

milkyJammy · 31/12/2007 13:17

Been reading what your LOs are eating...

DD never seems much interested in food at breakfast. I think partly because her favourites are veg (and now meat) and it just seems wrong to have carrots at breakfast. Sometimes she'll have a petit filous thing, otherwise just a good BF. More BF in the morning then typically veg at lunchtime followed by another BF, ans sometimes a bit of bread torn off my sandwich. Tea has been more veg, or more recently veg & meat and/or potato (has only been goose as we had loads left after xmas dinner). Sometimes this will be prepared just for her, or sometimes some of our food blended up. We occasionally use an Ellas Kitchen pouch if I've been very disorganised and have just started with a bit of finger food (got some apple rice cakes) now and then, but I also have to mainly hold it for her. Then she has another BF at bedtime and in the night as required. She is getting quite chubby though, am slightly concerned.

milkyJammy · 31/12/2007 13:21

Am also planning on doing more interesting things for her in coming days and weeks. Been given a A.Karmel cookbook by a friend who's baby is a few years older, so will be trying some of that.

thisisRialifebaby · 31/12/2007 13:26

bollocks, deleted my post by accident.

Awww - Beatrix Potter ballet

derlorfeelsabout90 · 31/12/2007 14:35

meant to say earlier congratulations JBM on your diamond

so far today DD has eaten milk, apple and oat cereal, more milk, dairylea sandwich and a pancake!!! she is having pasta and meatballs for tea with the rest of us

justbeme · 31/12/2007 14:45

Thanks Derlor
Wow - that'll be messy!!
Do you spoon feed her or is it true blw? Im doing both. (I wasnt going to spoon feed but never say never!)

HellHathNoFury · 31/12/2007 14:57

JBM...
DS has for breakfast:
1/2 weetabix and warm formula milk
or
porridge with a mashed up banana
milk at about 10
lunch
1/2 tuna/cheese sandwich and fromage frais/custard
or
leftovers from dinner and same dessert
milk at about 3
dinner
same as us - literally
I just mash it up with a fork
like fish pie or steak and veg or roast dinner. I cut the meat up really really fine with scissors and mix it all up. And dessert.
plus he has rusks, bananas, rice cakes whenever really
If I try to give him puree or jar anything now he has the screaming abdabs.

HellHathNoFury · 31/12/2007 15:14

I got the watch back BTW!
I went to Debenhams and they just said oops, here's another one!
yay!

Did a bit of shopping in the sales and got DS some bits and bobs.

Confused about H&M babywear though.
2 packets of socks - the same size - are in fact COMPLETELY different sizes when held up next to each other.
One is made in China, one is made in Turkey.
In my confusion, I thought 'fuck this' and bought some in Next. Which might be 4 times the price but at least I know they will fit.

LittleMissNorty · 31/12/2007 15:18

I bought DD a pack of 3 pairs of socks in the next sale for £1.50! I'm currently buying next winter's clothes for her in this years sales

DD just had some mashed banana and is now asleep! what a life

Fury - don't you know all people in china have small feet!!!! LOL
good news about the watch - might try that

NO NO NO JBM i'm not doing BLW - WAY too messy for me (i'm a bit like Monica from friends when it comes to mess )
I just spoon it all in

I have taken the Christmas tree down this afternoon - DD kept wandering over to it in her walker trying to pull it down Best i just take it down safely instead i thought - (whispers.....delighted to have my house de-christmased anyway - see again with the Monicaness in me)

derlorfeelsabout90 · 31/12/2007 15:53

oh dear that was a LOT of faces

HellHathNoFury · 31/12/2007 16:31

Derlor I am so with you on the BLW camp. Tried it... but my Monica prevailed and now he has spoons wether he likes it or not. If he wants to put something in himself he can have some apple. Not too messy.

I hate mess. You should see my house, it's tiny but vacant of possessions and a bit empty. I hate ornaments. More shit to clean.
I like it empty. I have Romany Traveller roots, clearly I prefer owning less crap, makes me feel like I can up and go quickly if I need to

I think that's why I have now spent 12 months selling anything that isn't bolted down on Ebay.
