How about end Jan beg Feb? It will give us something on the horizon to look forward to.

HellHathNoFury · 01/01/2008 19:17

sounds good to me!

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 01/01/2008 19:20

Yep, sounds good.

thisisRialifebaby · 01/01/2008 19:22

you meany little clique of foodies

milkyJammy · 01/01/2008 19:31

Course we don't hate you Ria.

And sorry to be planning something that we know many people can't come to.

DH just pointed out we haven't checked the pub's attitude to LOs, but I suspect that as a big tourist trap in summer they must be used to family trade surely? Besides the good food, it's by the river with easy access to the common so if it's nice we can have a bit of fresh air and stretch our legs after dinner (try to work of a few of the calories?)

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 01/01/2008 19:33

Don't worry ria, we are v boring, you won't miss much!

thisisRialifebaby · 01/01/2008 19:33

can't we have a new motivation thread so I don't have to be reminded of my inability to stick to anything?

Sorry you have to go back to work fury. Is it a new job altogether or a new contract? I didn't realise yourCM was so bad. how awful for you all.

jammy. well done for taking action. I have the ADs in the cupboard but stopped taking them when I went away and haven't got back into taking them yet. If you need a private rant feel free to FB me, I check in most days and have been on ADs on and off since before DS1 was born.

Did you get the dance hoop bumper?

DKMA · 01/01/2008 19:52

Happy new year everyone!

Sorry to hear some of you are not feeling so brill

I am planning to make 2008 the year that I get back to being 'me' again!!

I have felt that I had no control over myself or my life in 2007. I was blessed with having the little fella - who now it my world. I would also like to feel like I used to - so I'm going to give it a go!

So today (although still full of cold and coughing up gross stuff like some old tramp!) I shaved my legs and did my bikini line (and generally had a good old trim!!). I bought some nail polish yesterday and am going to push the boat out tonight and paint my toes!!

Fury - good luck for tomorrow. I think I know how you feel? I do and don't want to go back to work (on Thursday - 4 days a week). I'm going to miss my boy soooo much

Bumper - I'm going to join you on that fatties thread - I have to shift 1.5 stone asap!
I have bought 1 new suit from M&S for work (size 14 - used to be size 10!) and I have a massive muffin top over the trousers - with a hint of a camel toe as well

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 01/01/2008 19:56

A new start

thisisRialifebaby · 01/01/2008 19:59

can I just have a little rant about childcare? All the 1st time mums are up in arms and want to complain to the school when we go back. I am cross but indifferent because I know it won't do any good.

Before christmas DS2 was off school for two weeks and went back for the last week on ABs. He had a poo accident, only about 15 minutes before hometime, and it seems the teacher put on gloves then stood him in the middle of the room (not discreetly in the loo where no-one could see him), lifted up his jumper and decided they needed to ring me. luckily I was early so dealt with it and whisked him home in spare clothes for a bath. All the others in his class were watching and had obviously seen cos a couple of the mums approached me the next day. (DS2 doesn't care - his attitude is pretty much "shit happens", but I am for him). Apparently the same thing happened to a slightly older boy and they did change him when he wet himself, but left him stood in the middle of the class in pink girls pants, but when he had a poo accident he was left in it until he was collected by the day nursery staff and then had to walk to the day nursery so they could clean him up there. It is appaling. I will probably get into trouble for saying this, but if LOs HAVE to go to school at 3, the school should be prepared/allowed to deal with this kind of thing. and in a discreet way. I know we have to allow for child protection etc, but honestly. If it had happened to DS1 (when he was 3 he wasn't allowed to go to playgroup til he was fully potty trained) I would never have got him to school again.

Rant over, sorry.

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 01/01/2008 20:00

Hi dkma by the way. Back to work this week? How are you feeling about it? DH keeps telling me that I will appreciate DD much more when I go back to work and I will have much more patience. After 10 hour days though...

You'll be great anyway DKMA. LOL at camel toe! God we've all been through the biggest adjustment of our lives (unscathed!), if you can do that you can do anything!

DKMA · 01/01/2008 20:17

Ria - that sounds awful
Poor little buggers!!
Lo's are bound to have these misshaps - they should have a better way to deal with it than that!

Bumper - am feeling a bit mixed up about going back to work. Lo has been going to his nursery for 2 afternoons a week in Dec to get used to it and it seems he has settled in very well. The nursery has a very good reputation (one of the best ofstead reports in the uk) and I know people who's lo's have been / and are going there and everyone raves on about it (there was a 12 mth waiting list ffs) - so that gives me some peace of mind that my little monkey is in safe hands - but still it is a big change for him and me - prob more for me! I'll miss him .
I think your DH is right tho - I'm sure I will apreciate and enjoy him more (sometimes at the mo I am counting down the mins until his next nap time and then I feel guilty!)
A bit worried about returning to work as I have a new boss who is a bit old fashioned and potentially career limiting for me (as I have boobs not bollocks!) I have already had heated words with him and I'm not back properly yet!!
Anyhow - that's another story!

Am I a bit shallow to feel that I have a mega lack of confidence due to the fact I am now 2 stone heavier than I used to be? Plus I am sporting a muffin top and a camel toe?

thisisRialifebaby · 01/01/2008 20:25

You're not shallow DKMA, I used to be confident-ish. I also used to be several stone lighter.

Good luck with work everyone. I'm not really because I don't have a career or even a job I love, but do very occasionally think wistfully of having to make myself presentable (good thing I don't really have to cos my clothes that fit are truly awful) and not have to do mummy things for a few hours. I wouldn't last though cos I'm crap at people, especially work colleagues/bosses/customers!

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 01/01/2008 20:29

Ria that's awful. God, I the teachers have to be teachers to 3 year old they should have some fucking sensitivity!

DKMA, not shallow IMO. I have low esteem when I look rubbish. I did feel much better when I was at my thinnest, terrible I know.

And though I work for the civil service so they can't be overtly sexist, like you I am worried of the effect being off/having a child will have on my career. Then I feel guilty for caring so much and should just appreciate DD!

Bet you don't really have a muffin top and camel toe - just high standards

annobal · 01/01/2008 20:29

Happy New Year! Just popping in and out again (oops - that's what got me here in the first place ) as i need to sort out dinner...

DKMA · 01/01/2008 20:38

Ria - I've never met you - so I can't say I know you well or anything - but you do have a fab sence of humor!
I find that having a sence of humor, never taking work too seriously, taking the piss out of myself and those around me (including customers and boss etc!) have helped me enjoy my job!
However!!! My new boss is famous for saying 'it's called work cos thats what it is!'
So only time will tell as to how much I enjoy my job - and he enjoys me taking the piss out of him!!!!
I could always tell him that everyone calles him 'Blakey' behind his back (cos he looks like that fella from that old tv show 'Off the buses')
I also know (through a very good friend who is quite senior in the company and who is a bloke) that he perves over my legs (or at least he used to when I was in better shape!) So I could always resort to wearing skirts all the time and being all nice to him!! It's very sad - but very true!! I'd hate to be a bloke and get all confused and baffled everytime I saw a nice pair of legs - or a bit of boob!!

thisisRialifebaby · 01/01/2008 20:44

That's bollocks for you!

I like on the buses - does that make me sad? I am stuck in a 70s comedy void - help!

milkyJammy · 01/01/2008 20:45

That doesn't always happen to blokes DKMA. I used to work in a chippy (holiday job) and a gorgeous bloke came in. I got all tongue tied and couldn't concentrate on the job in hand and therefore couldn't serve him, so asked a colleague to do so - no good, she had the same problem. So we asked the manager, who was gay and had much the same problem, but he did have a little more maturity to manage to pull himself together and serve the poor bloke.

justbeme · 01/01/2008 20:47

I watched on the Buses a few days ago Ria and it was really good (I remember it 1st time around!).
I think something should be said about the toilet situation at school - poor little loves.

Good Luck Fury and DKMA with work this week - Im sure it'll take a few days to get into the swing and then you'll feel like you've always been there!

Oh and Norty Im going to be 40 this yr as well - YIKES!

DKMA · 01/01/2008 20:49

Yeh - some of them have evolved to hide it better than others.
Also that rule doesn't apply to gay fellas - obviously!
I do think tho - that us women only get that problem when the bloke is mega good looking - where as many blokes go all ga ga over a bit of cleaveage regardless of what munter it's hanging off!
I am generalising horribly here!!

thisisRialifebaby · 01/01/2008 20:55

see, it's all about bollocks jammy.

There are a few things to address when we go back to school. I'm not looking forward to that. I might push for more hours or be a parents helper if DH is off much longer and keep an "active profile". I'm not scared of the head any more though - I went to her xmas concert drinks and I have worked out what a sad cow she is. Also heard on the staff grapevine she is a bit Jekyll & Hyde.

don't think this 3 men on a boat is as good as last time they did it... 10 mins to John Nettles. So I'm going to say goodnight early, back tomorrow, hope you all have a good day.

Rx

thisisRialifebaby · 01/01/2008 20:59

LOL DKMA.
Hi JBM.

night all Rx

sputnik · 01/01/2008 22:37

Spot on there DKMA And good luck for Thursday.

Finally got my bath in the end.

thisisRialifebaby · 01/01/2008 23:01

That was V really...

... but why is the murderer always the most famous guest star or the character with the worst haircut?

I do love John Nettles though. I think he's younger than my Dad - is that wrong?

DKMA · 01/01/2008 23:16

I thought so too Ria! What was going on with the old giffers teeth tho?
