BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 31/12/2007 22:09

Just had a text from Daisy, her mum is still hanging in there, she says "it's hard watching mum deteriorate but the occasional flashes of humour and quick wit are inspiring"

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 31/12/2007 22:14

Ria I read on here somewhere that the Aldi/Lidl one was not bad and good value.

HellHathNoFury · 31/12/2007 22:15

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

A bit premature but I'm not here later. See y'all in 2008!

thisisRialifebaby · 31/12/2007 22:17

I just sent daisy a message on facebook. It must be so difficult all round.

nivea is what I put on tonight and it feels nice, but I can smell yogurt, maybe it's gone off? i like your new name though derlor.

I am off - probably - will try to convince DH he wants to watch Miss Potter again on dvd!

Happy New Year everyone

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 31/12/2007 22:32

ooh I love the smell of nivea!

Just had another text from daisy

"A Happy New Year from me. I'm missing all the chat. Emily now crawling & had her first visit to A&E today: we thought she'd swallowed some broken glass. Found some shards in her calpol! but all ok."

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 31/12/2007 22:35

Well hope you all had a LOVELY new year, whether awake or asleep. I managedc to sleep through the midnight fireworks (which again woke DD but DH soothed her ), then the best bit was that other than a quick feed at 3am she slept until 7 What better start to the year could I ask for?

Glad to hear from Daisy (thanks Bumper) - glad she's got some more time with her Mum, though appreciate it must be very very hard.

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 01/01/2008 08:34

Not a fun night here. DD woke just as I was going to bed at 11. Then DH woke me up at 2.30am, he seems to have the D&V bug and he had D'd on the bed in his sleep He wouldn't let me clear it up for him either, he was mortified.

I'm not sure of the rules with D&V (or just D) are DD and I going to get it? Can we avoid it? Should DD and I avoid other people and should DH stay off work again tomorrow?

Not a great start to the NY and I am knackered. Obviously DH is knackered more and feels worse, but I'm not good a sympathy when I am tired and doing everything for the baby!

NewYearNewCatkin · 01/01/2008 08:48

Poor Bumper. The best thing you can do to stand any chance of avoidance is to make sure everyone washes their hands after every loo visit, before eating, after eating (basically all of the time and thoroughly with hot water and soap/handwash for 15 seconds)
Not saying that you don't do this already of course but I did this fanatically when my DH had D&V last week and DS and I came away unscathed.
Going back to work depends on company policy and how your DH feels I suppose - My work has a 48 hour after last episode of D&V policy which is quite good -gives you a chance to recover properly and minimises infection risk but if your DH is feeling better then again, the handwashing is the single most important thing!!
(can you tell I did a training session on this recently!! )

milkyJammy · 01/01/2008 08:50

Poor Bumper and co! Big hugs (after copious handwashing, of course!) all round

NewYearNewCatkin · 01/01/2008 08:55

Also, please can nobody mention celeriac ever again cos it makes me want to puke!!!
Even the suggestion makes me feel queasy. I used to have to be excused from A-level biology lab experiments when we were doing the enzyme stuff with celery cos i'd have a funny turn or be sick at the smell
(that's me green with sick not with envy!!

Hope you all had a lovely evening (Bumper, hope you get your lovely evening tonight instead!) - We just stayed in and had steak and chips then icecream later on which was fab. We played PS2 games then had a Buzz challenge, pausing briefly to say Happy New Year then continuing til stupid o'clock this morning! Everyone is still in bed and I am up with DS who is being an angel playing with his toys.

andiemisletoe · 01/01/2008 09:00

Happy New Year everyone

Bumper echo what catkin says handwshing is the way to go ds1 has had 2 vomitng bugs recently and none of the rest of us have got them because of handwashing hope you all feel better soon poor dh

hope evreyone else had a good evening we lasted till 10 had friends over for a curry and they left at 09.30 with their kids and then we went to bed sad sad or what

also put ds2 in his own room yesterday as he was waking 4/5 times a night last night he only woke once yeahhh and we all slept better

have a lovely day everyone

daisy thinking of you

HellHathNoFury · 01/01/2008 09:19

Bumper that's horrid! Poor DH.

Also depends why DH got the D&V, generally if he ate something bad it's not that 'contagious' anyway.
Having had campylobacter, salmonella and dysentry in the last 5 years I'd know .

I had DS weighed this morning. OMG.

He was on the 80-85th Centile when I was looking after him before he was 3 months old, he dropped to the 50th centile when the CM had him, and since I have had him back he is now on the 80th centile again!

And she wants a reference!!

FairyFay · 01/01/2008 09:26

Happy New Year Everyone

for the Bumpers

I had a very good time with my friends last night but am feeling decidedly queasy and tired this morning (I'm sure the wine was off [hmmm]).

I am a bit sad that the festive period is drawing to a close but also looking forward to things going back to normal.

OP posts:
milkyJammy · 01/01/2008 10:32

OMG - so much snot coming out of DD. The "snot sucker" we bought months ago has been really useful now. It's basically a squeezy bulb attached to a nozzle. You squeeze the bulb, insert nozzle into nose, release bulb and it sucks air and snot out of the nose. But I learnt a lesson this morning, which is if you re-squeeze the bulb after clearing nostril 1 you squirt snot all over DD's face! Ew, bad mummy!

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 01/01/2008 10:37

I'm going to moan on here so I don't do it to DH. I know it's not his fault, but he had only 2 days off during this whole xmas period xmas day and new years day (and for days off for him read days off for me). xmas day i spent cooking and today i am going to spend looking after the baby and dh. it's not his fault but i am just knackered, after being up with dd and dh last night, i'm doing all the cooking and washing up as dh isn't eating. We are going to have to cancel seeing our friends today. and if i or the baby get it i won't get a fricking day of.

Right rant over. i can go back to being mother fucking theresa now

thank for the sympathy anyway. we'll will be doing lots of handwashing. it's not anything he ate as he has barely eaten all week.

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 01/01/2008 10:41

oh and the woman at the pharmacy spoke to me like i was a fricking idiot. just because i am carrying a baby doesn't mean i have had a frontal lobotomy!

milkyJammy · 01/01/2008 10:53

Sorry to hear your woes Bumper. Hope you and DD keep well

thisisRialifebaby · 01/01/2008 12:16

bumper.hope you and LO stay clear and Mr B feels better soon, because as we all know there is nothing worse than a poorly man, even if they are genuinely ill,

Why do DHs & DSs have to argue all rhe sodding time?

And it's fecking raining so we can't have our picnic in the forestry

glad everyone had nice nights, baggins slept unusually well too (notas good as little norty but from about 1.30-6.30...)

just had a phonecall from MIL, they were going to visit us today but it's raining.

FFS, their car has a watertight roof and we don't live in a fecking tree.

OK so I would have hated every minute, but kids usually like to see their GPs don't they? suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

will be leaving the house later in search of doritos

BumperliciousIsOneHotMother · 01/01/2008 12:39

LOL whenever we plan to go and see MIL she always tells us not to if it's raining!
