Thanks UD.

Medised doesn't make any difference to Isobel either, drowsy wise. She does stop crying when teething though when we give it to her, so I guess the paracetamol is working.

Happy birthday George.

Sorry for those i've missed

Lizzzombie · 16/01/2008 15:00

ok, if I tell you what it was you have to promise not to laugh at my saddo status!

Lizzzombie · 16/01/2008 15:02

It was a stein style mug from the scrabulous merchandise shop. A late birthday present from a mate of mine who I play far too much scrabble with online.....I maybe need to get out more!

mug

MrsCarrot · 16/01/2008 16:29

we got a birthday present from the tax credits

£5000 to be paid back by feb 10th - we could pay over 12 months if we like, only £500 a month then

I am trying not to cry but dh is in Prague so we cant discuss it. He had appealed and I thought I was paying overpayment out of the current one as it's less now. Oh no. It's separate to that payment.

LTH - lovely photos!

JodieG1 · 16/01/2008 16:53

MrsC - oh no! Surely they can do lower payments than that and are you sure you actually owe it? I know they made lots of mistakes recently. We had to pay back about £1.5k last year but they took it out of our normal payments so we just didn't get anything.

Hope you can sort it out.

MrsCarrot · 16/01/2008 17:02

you have to send in all finances, incomings/outgoings/assets etc to appeal to make lower payments/bank statements etc.

we have disputed this in the past and I thought the amount was lowered and I paid it out of the weekly money. They said this can't be done - two separate claims. I think dh knows more about it than me, it was around the time his mother died, think he avoided dealing with it maybe.

JodieG1 · 16/01/2008 17:10

That doesn't sound right as they definitely deducted ours from the normal payments as we didn't get any last year because of it. Maybe call and speak to someone else? I always had different people telling me different things but the letter I received said they were taking it out of our normal payments until it had been repaid.

JodieG1 · 16/01/2008 17:11

Oh and having to send all your financial papers in to them sounds ludicrous, I don't think most people would be able to afford to pay out an extra £500 a month would they? Those that are in receipt of tax credits at least.

MrsCarrot · 16/01/2008 17:13

Exactly. But we do have to, what a complete and utter drag.

And I had a smear test today

and dh has gone to prague for work

Reminds me I need to get my smear done, sigh. Hope yours wasn't too uncomfortable. How long is dh away for?

eandh · 16/01/2008 17:20

mrsc - we had this a few years ago, I told them every month for a year we were being overpaid and they insidted it was coorect (I could see the error they had put dh working 40+ hours a week for nil salary) so I kept the money in Ellies savings account, they eventually had a 'duh' moment and wrote to say we owed them £2800, we appealed, it got declined (well partial repayment as some months they admitted it was full error on their behalf) we said we couldnt afford repayments etc etc so now we dont get anything and we wont till Ellie is about 7 but I can live without the £50 a month or whatever it is (no interest charge on our overpayment as I had detailed logs of all my calls etc)

theUrbanDryad · 16/01/2008 17:22

MrsC - we also got overpaid last year, and just paid it out of our normal allowance. i would definitely query it - if you can, get down your local CAB or Welfare Rights office, or ask on here, there are lots of people who've been in the same boat.

Jodie - i posted that parcel today 1st class so you should get it tomorrow or the day after. hope it helps.

I am hoping to go back to work in the near future - i've put my CV into all the local opticians and D&A said they were looking for staff so fingers crossed! to be honest, regardless of whether i go back to work or not, i might think about putting him in nursery for a morning and an afternoon, just so i get a bit of a break! and he'll like it too, i think, he likes playing with other littlies, so we'll see how it goes. we're visiting the nursery on Friday morning, hope it's as nice as it seems (and not too pricey!!)

Reggiee · 16/01/2008 17:40

Bloody hell these tax credits seem like a nightmare. Has everyone been overpaid?? Good luck with sorting it MrsC.

Can't stop for long, my mum is coming over tonight. P just going to bed, so she'll miss her

Reggiee · 16/01/2008 17:40

Happy birthday G!

Lizzzombie · 16/01/2008 17:41

Omg - Mrs C that is dreadful. I have no idea what we would do if we got one of those letters.

RIGHT...advice required immediately please.

DJ would not have a afternoon nap, so I gave up and let him play instead.
I cooked him a nice bolognaise sauce from scratch (which I never do as I am bad)
I tried to feed him said sauce with pasta, normally he would wolf it down. But today he started to scream and scream (tiered) and scream some more. I shoved one mouthful in his mouth mid scream - yes I know...as I said - bad mother...and obviously he choked, and puked up whatever else was down there..still screaming though.
I had to pop out to get to the post box by 5.15pm so bundled him screaming into the buggy and zoomed round the corner. He eventually quietend down, I popped into the offie to grab a bottle of wine to calm myself down.
Got home 10 mins ago. He is totally passed out in his buggy.

No tea
No bath

What do I do now?

Advice please!

If I wake him he may start screaming again....

MrsCarrot · 16/01/2008 17:42

lizz - drink the wine!

MrsCarrot · 16/01/2008 17:44

did you have to give financial details though?

They said I can't pay it out of my current allowance

Lizzzombie · 16/01/2008 17:45

Lol - of course - that goes without saying...am doing so right now. (its vile, which just adds injury to insult at the whole situation!) - karma.

MrsCarrot · 16/01/2008 17:46

keep drinking - you'll get used to the taste!

ladytophamhatt · 16/01/2008 17:47

let him sleep for 30-40 mins then wake him and give hima biscuit.

Biscuit will make him happy and will also raise him blood sugar level so he won't be so grumpy.

Feed dinner 20 mins later.

problem solved.

Lizzzombie · 16/01/2008 17:50

I gave him a biscuit on my mad dash out to the postbox/off licence. He ate half of it and fell asleep.

Do they become easier once they turn 1 year old?

eandh · 16/01/2008 17:51

I would leave him for a bit then wake him and do a bath (if he likes baths ??? hattie loves a bath solves most problems!) then try feeding him something else (personally I'd go for porridge/weetabix minimal effort but fills their tummy)

Oh and keep drinking the wine
