Just a quick one as we are dashing out to get our passport photos taken! Eek! I have been putting it off forever and a day but we really need to get them sorted. Costing a small fortune to get new passports for both of us! I am planning on putting on a trowel load of make up so I don't look ghastly. I expect to get some strange looks in Sainsburys

morocco - just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear that Emily has been unwell. I don't know if you know but Elliot was also in hospital with bronchiolitis a few months' ago and I know how scary it is. It took a course of ABs from the GP to really get him properly well again as he got a 2ndary infection on the back of the virus so if she's still really wheezy, that worked for us.

fox - pmsl at your lodger stories. Although I'm sure it's less amusing when you're actually having to be dealing with them face to face. I have always had terrible trouble finding decent lodgers - I seem to attract nutters!

morocco · 09/01/2008 12:26

trying to catch up on all the gos, sounds like lots been going on

who's back at work now and how's it going? ? I've still not started my af either - hoping it'll be ages yet , but have got coil fitted so no more surprise babies, i hope!

Piffle · 09/01/2008 12:33

Sorry to hear Emily has been so sick, so sad when these littlies get so sick.

Bethoo no this would be my 3rd AF back, the others were both 29 day cycles which is what I have always been
The only times I've ever been late before are when pregnant.
Still negative though, perhaps Finns upping of feeding when he was sick 2-3 weeks ago has sent my hormones mad or something?
Fitfox, Chinese people are very clean/tidy and friendly and quiet and private.
I have had a few Chinese students as lodgers before, but they did like to boil odd bits of chickens at the weekend

Happy belated birthday Jordi

We are already planning Deannas 1st birthday party, will have about 10 one year olds from her baby group for a party then a family party after that.

Deannas now cruising around her play pen and clapping. She made me cry with laughter today at music. She fell in the musical instrument box,all I saw was her legs in the air.

Had midwife appointment yesterday and all is good.Fundal height was measuring 28 cm so on track.Couldnt lift yesterday as I had a bad back which the midwife thinks is sciatica eeek. She thinks it will get worse when baby is born.

New baby if girl will be Mia Caitlin Aeryn.Boy we have Daniel but no middle names yet.Cant believe its almost time already.

Hope everyone is okay

kiwibella · 09/01/2008 15:30

wow Shanks... you are very organised!! I can't believe that you and Jay will be having your babies soon.

Happy 1st birthday to Jordi!!

I hope that Emily recovers well, Morocco. Kate also had bronchiolitis and it is such a scary illness for their little bodies. She also had antibiotics (when it wouldn't clear) and an asthma inhaler - which helped lots.

Morrocco - I've been back to work and quit too . I missed my lil girl too much (and teaching after nights of broken sleep was rough).

Foxy... I am surprised that there are so many people looking for lodging! I presumed flat-sharing was common.

If anyone is near their telly at half 4 then look out for our kiwi kids on Take a Bow on Cbeebies!! It was on this morning too and they look great performing Maori songs and the haka too. .

muppetisacat · 09/01/2008 18:17

Oh wow kiwi - i missed that! do you know if it will be repeated? bet they were really cute (or were they really scary )

Feel really deflated that af has turned up (sorry to keep harping on about it ) but it signals back to normality even more to me and all i can see stretching before me is the curse every 29 days (cue violins emoticon)

Ah well... such is life...

Everything is 100 times worse when your 7 year old ds1 is "practising" the trumpet and your tone deaf 10 year old dd has decided to learn the clarinet

sazzybeehomeforxmas · 09/01/2008 18:29

I saw them kiwi! Was that your missy e I spied? They were soooo cute! Elliot was riveted

muppet - the af is a blow isn't it? were you trying again? (sorry I'm hopeless can't remember who's doing what )

I used to play the clarinet. My parents made me practice in the cellar

fitfox · 09/01/2008 19:36

Hi - am just whizzing past as I am waiting for next applicant to arrive

Piff - DH wants the Chinese couple as he agrees with what you say. I think they would probably be the best lodgers, along with the Canadian guy (who came earleir and was lovely)

A Mumsnetter has just sent her DH round who is studying in UK so he has just viewed the room too LOL!! He was great too!!

Am waiting for female student who I bet does not turn up (being a female - must be the female perogative to change the mind and not bother cancelling appointment)

Kiwi - I think some people would just rather have a quiet, low key space somewhere, rather than have to do the whole "sharing" thing (as in "who ate my food I put in the cupboard?" thing). Its in the attic so is very private.

fitfox · 09/01/2008 19:38

Oooh missed your kids Kiwi

muppetisacat · 09/01/2008 20:04

sazzy - NO NO NO Certainly NOT trying again ... could NEVER cope with a toddler and a baby again

I guess i'd just got used to being free of them for a while

I used to play the clarinet too! To be fair it's a better sound than the trumpet that ds1 insists on playing - it's just that dd has only just started so there's a fair amount of squeaking going on!

God - listen to me going on - isn't my PMT meant to have gone by now

Divastrop · 09/01/2008 21:09

i used to play the clarinet too.not very well, though,i only got my grade 1.singing was my main thing.i hate the sound of the trumpet even if its played well!

morocco-glad hat emily is better now.scary illness(all 3 of my girls have been in hospital with it).

fox-i hope you find a decent lodger.

bella-i missed that today!will it be on again do you know?ds2 loves take a bow,he always watches it but the telly gets hijacked by the others when they get home.

ds2's school was closed today as there was a problem with the heating.i was not impressed!then my boiler decided to die as well.when things like that happen i count my blessings that we live in a HA property, they get it sorted within 24hours.

mossy-i think dusty mooncup would make a good MN name when you get bored with the new one.
babies arent allowed cows milk untill they are 1,but all my others went off baby milk at around 9/10 months and would only drink cows milk(which has twice the amount of calcium as formula for some reason?).i figured that cows milk was better than no milk.trust herself to be flippin awkward

rosy-i am fed up with my hormones and my af came back when Elsie was 9 weeks old.i have 3 weeks of pmt and 9 day long periods.make the most of not having them while you can.

right,i have a new toy.my phone died(well, the battery is f*ed)and i have spent the last few days reading reviews etc lokking for a new one.dh said i should just get another battery or just get a cheap phone seeing as i leave them lying around where the kids can get them(in my handbag).der...thats no fun.i like phones like he likes computers.so i got a new one and im going to go and play with it now ive transferred all the photos off my old one

kiwibella · 09/01/2008 21:13

thanks Sazzy... MissE was there - one of the big girls. Hubs has uploaded the show to youtube so I will post the link once I can figure it out.

I have come on to whinge too!! I am frustrated by this bedtime lark... it is taking over an hour to get Kate down atm. She has an evening routine which she goes down to at first.. bath, cuddle and quiet time, feed, off to bed. But, lately, about ten minutes afterwards she wakes screaming. This is where I employ Kitty's consoling advice which works for a bit. But, we eventually get to screaming, hitting, hairpulling, absolute frustration from her and then me. Hubs' answer is to feed her... which is what I end up giving in and doing. But I'm thinking it is this feeding to sleep that is doing it... I can imagine this must be a comforting way to nod off but a shock when you wake on your own in a big bed with no parents cuddling you.

Actually just glimpsed up at your post about coping wth a toddler and a baby muppet . I'm having trouble just with the baby.

Success! Hubs has walked in with a big grin on his face. I have ordered the sleep book that Mossy recommended and I can't wait for it to arrive

kiwibella · 09/01/2008 21:17

Cbeebies show here

It's five mins and very cute .

kiwibella · 09/01/2008 21:20

what phone did you get, Diva?? I'm doing the search too - my contract is up so free upgrade .

Is your ds at secondary school? I'm sure they are off more than they are in.

Ten minutes... baby is awake again grrrrrrrrrr.

Piffle · 09/01/2008 21:21

ooh fox I used to house share with a Canadian guy once then it moved to bed share kiwi missed the show but dd saw it and said it was great... Diva Finn also will only drink cows milk unless its boob juice from the source. And no doubt about it he is thriving... Well am now 24/7 obsessing about lack of af ...

Rosylily · 09/01/2008 23:44

Fantastic Kiwi

bethoo · 10/01/2008 09:29

MOrning everyone

muppetisacat · 10/01/2008 09:57

Kiwi - very cute

Rosylily · 10/01/2008 10:04

How's it going Piffle? Still negative? I know what you mean it's hard to forget about it because the possibility of a baby is too life changing to just forget about it while you are not sure...been there, done that.

Went to visit a friend with new 4 week baby yesterday only to discover when we arrived that he has mrsa and dh has a cough and she is depressed and struggling and the whole visit was a disaster. We did ring first but think they were incapable of saying 'don't come'

dh is around for a bit and it's lovely but confusing...my little peacefull world goes crazy when he is about. He's alot of things but at least he's never boring I suppose

I don't want to go to Pakistan at Easter but don't think I can get out of it. His family are desperate to see us and they can't come here and it's been two years. (groan)
Moan, moan, moan.

Bethoo, you can just be straight with your ex and hopefully have a good friendship so he can be around for the baby. It is so hard to shake off the guilt when you have been the responsible one. To be honest I still have to talk myself out of that when it comes to my exhubby, I still feel motherly towards him after all these years! And if he is having a hard time love trouble etc-he rings me

Piffle · 10/01/2008 10:10

That link was grat kiwi!
We did all those songs at primary school along with oma rapati
WE made pois and sticks and had TONS of Maori culture despite there not being one Maori child at the school.
I've never forgotten any of it

Piffle · 10/01/2008 10:15

rosy I'm ok thanks. Yes am ignoring the fact today, no tests no thoughts.
Am exercising and watching what I eat, managed to add on 4 kgs since the kids have been sick (early Nov) as simply could not get out to walk and ate to console myself, then more wine to cope with the shitty nights... well and that is it.
So I'm being good, usually find it easy to drop back to my normal weight if I am really tight about food and drink for a week or two.

Finn is back to waking at 9pm and 11pm and 4am for feeding, am presuming growth spurt or teething, quick feed and he is done.

Bethoo sometime without contact might be on order, somehow not getting some space makes the break seem less real.
But me and exp had a rough break up as I was pregnant and it was my choice to break up. But we made friends by the time ds1 was born and have been that way since then (13 years)

bethoo · 10/01/2008 13:06

Piffle -thanks for earlier, i rang the doctor and xp is picking it up for me later. i was panicking as becasue it is contagious i had to pick him up and did not realise that it was contagious! nad having no money to get to town was a buggar! jsut hope it is better for tomorrow. does bm work for conjunctivitus or is it just for sticky eyes?
with ref to xp he is wanting to see me everyday etc and i have told him we are over and now he wants ot take me for a meal on saturday but i have to remind him that we are not together, we are not dating just friends. he is convinced we are gongot get back together!!! i have said he can come over , so i can get my eye drops for lo and i need ot clean house whithout lo following me all over!

Divastrop · 10/01/2008 14:02

bella-i will have a look at the link when i can find the earphones.i got a sony ericsson k800i,which has a good camera on it and mp3 etc,and was basically the best phone i could get on pay as you go for less than £100.
i was that i had to read the instructions to figure out how to use the camera though!

piffle-what is 4kg in pounds?i dont have a clue about these modern weights etc.
i remember that period of af being late and tests being negative.i was so tempted to test about 3 times a day,and so frustrated i just wanted either af to start or a + test, and i didnt care which after a week of waiting.

i am starting to feel a little better withdrawal-wise,but i'm not liking this feeling emotion thing.dh is in a mood and i keep thinking he doesnt want to be with me any more.at least on those tablets i just didnt care

Divastrop · 10/01/2008 14:08

bethoo-i personally dont think its possible to stay friends with an ex,whatever anyone says.my xp just used it as an excuse to carry on trying to control my life for 6 years, and would no doubt still be doing it now if it wasnt for dh.
if he thinks you are going to get back together(and no matter how many times you tell him you're not,if you continue to see him and allow him to help you out he will belive you are going to get back together one day)then you wont be able to meet anybody new,as he will be a total PITA and cause endless problems.
you dont need him to watch lo while you clean the house..you dont need him for anything.get a playpen

Piffle · 10/01/2008 14:08

Well that's easy LOL
Finn was kgs when born so am guessing 8lbs 3oz LOL
