@RandomCatGenerator Do babies get vaccinations at 6 weeks where you are? Are they the same lot as the 8 week ones over here? xx

And re jumperoo, I borrowed one off my friend. But it sounds like a great Christmas present! Leo will be having lots of different toys for age 6-9 and some personalised outfits from Etsy. I also got him his own Santa & Rudolph plate and a personalised bauble for his first Christmas. Can you tell I'm a wee bit excited?!

In the meantime, I also bought a little pumpkin hat for Halloween 🎃 😁 and he looks beyond cute in it! I am going to keep all these little "first" items in his keepsake box which I'm putting together. I also managed to write him a couple of letters which I hope he'll read one day when he grows up 😊 xx

I haven’t got him anything for Christmas yet but struggling for ideas of things for his ‘big’ present 😕 I know he’ll only be 4 months so really won’t know anything about it but I still want to get him a few things. Feel like we’ll be struggling for somewhere to put it all by the time the grans and papas get him presents too though 🙈

sarah13xx · 01/10/2021 20:48

Finally got a doctors appointment today to go back on the pill again. Not overly impressed about going back on it but feel like I don’t have much choice and reallly don’t want to get pregnant accidentally before he’s 2! I got it thinking I needed to have it in case my period came before Monday so I could take it from the first day. Literally went to the chemist to collect it, got home and my period has arrived! So bizarre 🙈 Might attempt sex for the first time next weekend then, he’ll be nearly 9 weeks but really don’t feel like I’m in any rush still 😂

lucyrp · 01/10/2021 20:57

We're actually not buying anything for DD for Christmas intentionally as what's the point! Everyone else will buy plenty for her and she's not going to know any different. Will give her the jumperoo if we get it and if I buy some clothes for the next sizes then will probably wrap them up but that's about it! Defo will get some matching Christmas pjs for us all though.. cringe 🤣 already spotted a little bat outfit with a little tutu I want her to wear for halloween too even though we're definitely not big halloween people as DS is 6 and never been trick or treating. OH really wants to take him this year around town but I'm unsure about it 🙈😂

lucyrp · 01/10/2021 20:58

Il be 6 weeks PP next Tuesday and only just thinking about possibly having sex. Think I might be ready but also not overly excited as I'm sure the first time is crap 🥴 also need to think about contraception as don't want another DC ideally until DD is around 3 🙈

Daffodil21 · 01/10/2021 21:07

@lucyrp I want matching Christmas pjs too!! Let us know if you see any nice ones anywhere!

Smurf123 · 01/10/2021 21:12

We aren't going to be buying anything else for dd for Christmas as like you say @lucyrp she will get presents from her grandparents and uncles but ds is 3 and a half and this is the first year he is really excited about Santa and Christmas so we have to have something from Santa for her otherwise he will ask. He is already making a Santa list and likes to periodically shout messages up the chimney to Santa 😂

lucyrp · 01/10/2021 21:14

@Smurf123 that's very true actually I hadn't thought about Santa having to bring something for DD as like you say DS will be asking questions 🙈

@Daffodil21 will do! I'm on the lookout 😝

Ready2020 · 01/10/2021 21:45

Has anyone bought that jacket yet? The seraphine one?

Ready2020 · 01/10/2021 21:48

Oh pressed post too early!

I think I have thrush on my nipples Sad they are itchy and can be sore while is unu these days. I was on antibiotics for 2 weeks which can do it. I've got the cream in the cupboard and I think to just use that. Hope it clears up as it's not pleasant.

Daffodil21 · 01/10/2021 21:50

@Ready2020 I've resisted. The £50 I ordered got delivered to my mum's today and it looks ok so I'm hoping it fits ok. It has a little hood for him too which is cute and useful

PurplePansy05 · 01/10/2021 21:54

I have the Seraphine 3 in 1 and it's fab xx

biscuitcat · 01/10/2021 22:04

@Ready2020 I took advantage of the 20% off offer and bought - will report when it arrives! Hoping I like it as much as @PurplePansy05

My sister is getting married near Xmas and she's planning on all sorts of cute outfits for Rowan to wear during the day 😂 I'm trying to resist spending too much on Christmas things as it's far too easy to buy lots and lots, babies are such money pits!

In terms of sleep at night, has anyone found anything effective in extending time between feeds? It's very up and down for us at the mo - we're not really doing any kind of routine and I don't know if trying to do one would help, or if babies just wake up when they need until they're a bit older?

Daffodil21 · 01/10/2021 22:06

Argh you're all teasing me with the Seraphine! 😂

Ready2020 · 02/10/2021 00:34

I just bought it! The khaki one.

Magik01 · 02/10/2021 00:50

@Daffodil21 yes I have noticed mothercare on boots now! Thanks for pointing it out though. He’s got that many clothes from DS1 though I really don’t need anything else 😂 I’ve still got things with tags on that were never worn the first time around!

In terms of Christmas, with my first son he was 13 weeks at xmas, instead of buying loads of gifts because we knew grandparents etc would buy a lot, I rewrapped some of the toys he already had! He obviously didn’t have a clue. Pretty sure I did it for the Christmas after as well 🤣

Ready2020 · 02/10/2021 03:06

Someone on the previous thread was talking about silent reflux... I think it was @Smurf123 Is this something that only happens at night? I find these nights DD begins to wake when in the snuz pod and is quite grunty and sounds like she is breathing phlegm. She rolls about a bit looking uncomfortable too. I give her a dummy if she starts crying and it does settle her but I don't want to be ignoring that she may have another wee issue.

If it is reflux its possible minor. The snuz pod doesn't tilt like the pram bassinet so it won't be helping.

Smurf123 · 02/10/2021 03:22

@Ready2020 I've mentioned silent reflux as we think that's what dd has but she has it after all feeda
In my experience they are seriously reluctant to do anything about it off baby is gaining weight. We have only just been giving medication yesterday and dd is 10 weeks today. Mostly I kept getting told she will grow out of it.

Ready2020 · 02/10/2021 03:34

@Smurf123 ah OK. It's only at night so it's maybe nothing.

DD did just do a big wet fart so it's possibly that working it's way out. She doesn't poop much during the night so I'm not sure to change her as she's sleeping on me now. Don't want to wake her if possible. .

PurplePansy05 · 02/10/2021 07:45

Well we've had three full nights sleep in a row, DS happily sleeping through the night between 11pm ish and now. He's still asleep! I suspect still recovering from his vaccinations but boy, it feels good! Apart from the heavy boobs. I'm leaking now so off to have a coffee and pump a bit before he wakes up. I put him in the M&S 1.5 tog sleeping bag over his usual vest and babygrow and addedca thin layer of blanket over. It's 19.5C here and he is very content, checked his chest and not too hot. Blanket stays on if put over a sleeping bag! Miracle!

We had a lovely day yesterday with my friend visiting. So nice to have a long, adult talk and a heart to heart. Tomorrow we're all lunching at our friends, I'm excited!

I got the khaki Seraphine one too. I loved the navy one, but it was sold out in my size at the time, but the khaki one is really lovely and I kept it. It's a very classy looking parka and unless I shed a load of weight it should serve me well for years. I'd actually buy another one in a smaller size if needed in the future. The fluffy lined pockets are a big hit here with my Raynaud's!

So glad you said that about rewrapping presents @Magik01. I might try this. I've actually bought his Christmas toys over the last few months with a view to simply use them when he's big enough and then I thought actually this ties in with Christmas, so I'll wrap them and some pretty clothes I bought anyway. I bought on sales mostly and was planning to do the same next year and possibly continue if I can. But I know at some point he'll be into things and will have his dream presents etc. Do you all buy in advance on sales for older kids and gather them during the year? We have a complicated family situation and really DS can only count on us and some family members and friends, sadly grandparents are rather useless in general. But I'll look after him, he won't go without. xx

Smurf123 · 02/10/2021 08:27

@PurplePansy05 we have bought ds Christmas present already.. He's really into hot wheels atm and it is so expensive so I saw someone on fb selling a bundle of it for £50 but it's about4 or5 different sets on of the sets on its own is selling at £72 on Amazon currently and looks like it's hardly been used. So we have it hidden in our shed. Just hoping he doesn't go off cars between now and then. I don't think he will he's pretty obsessed 🙈 that's his main present anyway we will be getting some smaller things too as we are away for Christmas so Santa will be leaving a note to say it's at home as wouldn't fit it in luggage.

Amazing on the sleep front! Dd has settled into a bit of a routine where she sleeps from a out 8/9 in the evening through to about 3/4am

BertieBotts · 02/10/2021 09:24

Oops, thank you for the thread! Just making place before I lose you all!

Daffodil21 · 02/10/2021 09:31

@PurplePansy05 that's amazing through the night!! Hopefully we'll all get there soon too 😂

I wasn't planning on getting him much at all for Christmas, just a couple of bits really as he'll get lots from relatives. @PurplePansy05 we have a complicated family situation where I don't have any really at all on my side (Elliot has lots on my husband's side though which is nice). My mum was always buying lots presents to make up for the lack of them elsewhere, but honestly we didn't need them!

biscuitcat · 02/10/2021 10:43

@PurplePansy05 so jealous of those nights! DS seems to be going backwards at the moment, last night up at 10:30, 12:15, 1, 4:30 and then for the day at 7 😫 he has his jabs on Tuesday and I'm keeping fingers crossed he sleeps well after, especially as DH is away for a couple of nights then, but have a horrible feeling he'll just be really unsettled and sleep even worse than normal...
