@BertieBotts perfect, thank you! I'll try not to think of ' the nappy doesn't contain the wee' when I'm next in the pool 😂

Smurf123 · 03/11/2021 12:18

@PurplePansy05 leg extenders? The wee plastic things that go on the back of the chair legs? Yes we have them sorry not sure if that's what they are they came with our chairs, we got them off gumtree . Harness I wanted but don't think I bought, I bought a cheapy one that didn't work and part of me things I did then buy the proper one but if I did I can't find it now so obviously didn't use any harness very long. I just moved the footrest down so ds couldn't stand up. Plus there was a whole thing at time of ds weaning about not strapping them into high chairs when weaning so you could quickly lift them out if they started choking. I found the Tripp trapp baby set is quite small so ds would have struggled to pull his leg up through it to actually climb out.

Smurf123 · 03/11/2021 12:20

Forest babies was good. Though we were 10 mins late to nursery school after but you know what we all needed the outdoor time. Dd gave off a bit in the pram and I think I really need to try the baby carrier for next time. I now have an hour that I could really do with using to clean and tidy the house but I'm lacking the motivation to start

sarah13xx · 03/11/2021 13:27

@Daffodil21 yeah we got the splash about happy nappy with a disposable swim nappy under it. I think when I look for a 6-9 month suit I’ll be looking on eBay or marketplace, it’s no time at all for them to wear it

sarah13xx · 03/11/2021 13:30

For going on holiday in June what swimwear would people recommend for a boy? Am I better to take a wetsuit as well as some shorter things?

Smurf123 · 03/11/2021 13:35

Somewhere warm? @sarah13xx tbh I would do the full length uv suits to protect from the sun at this small age.. my 3 year old I had in a long sleeve uv top and swim shorts this summer past and a sun hat just from M&S

sarah13xx · 03/11/2021 13:41

Yeah Spain @Smurf123 I thought that about the UV

I think I might buy the same warm in one but the version without legs on marketplace in 6-12 then we can take that on holiday and I’ll get him some other lighter things to take

Daffodil21 · 03/11/2021 15:36

Thanks ladies. Bought some swim nappies today and collecting the wetsuit thing on Friday so we can take him on Sunday.

I'm about to have a nap, and then I'm off out for dinner and drinks with my friend tonight while DH is on duty and I sleep in the other spare room 😀 soooo thankful my baby friendly friend is staying this week!

PurplePansy05 · 03/11/2021 19:22

I have a long sleeve and long legs wetsuit and hat with UV protection for DS for our holiday in June, my thinking is the more skin coverage the better and the suit can actually be lighter. He will most likely play on the beach and dip his feet so to me it's more important to protect his skin from strong sun.

Yes that's what I meant by leg extenders @Smurf123, thanks. Thanks a lot for your comments to you and @wimbler, all very helpful. When your DCs started standing up on the TT, did you find they were getting tangled in the harness? Some people online said this xx

RandomCatGenerator · 03/11/2021 21:14

Lots of very very helpful info on swim kit here! You all are the best. Thank you.

Second set of vaccinations today. It’s 3am and a unhappy and warm little boy is lying on me. Poor thing. Am obsessively taking his temperature.

sarah13xx · 03/11/2021 21:21

Going to try and get a few suits with as much skin coverage as I can find thanks. I know I’m paranoid about my own skin, I don’t tan well so usually stay in the shade 🙄

Second vaccinations for Freddie tomorrow 😢 He wasn’t too bad after the last ones, just much sleepier than usual. What a horrible job the woman who does them must have, she just travels about local towns injecting babies 🙈😂

wimbler · 03/11/2021 21:43

@PurplePansy05 no I can’t see how they would get tangled in the harness if it’s done up. It got to a point where dd refused to eat unless we said the harness up so she seemed to like it 🤷🏼‍♀️

We’re redoing our kitchen at the moment and we are doing away with the table and having a big island instead. I might have to say goodbye to the tripp trap and I’m unreasonably sad about it actually

PurplePansy05 · 03/11/2021 21:55

@Daffodil21 I am pretty impressed with the Konfidence reusable swimming nappies, it's a good fit and suits babies 3-36 months old. Could be a good alternative to disposable swim nappies to go under the wetsuit. Don't forget the double nappy rule if that's what's required where you are planning to take Elliot. It would then have to be a swim nappy + neoprene nappy and then the wetsuit (unless you buy one with a built in neoprene nappy but the warmest fleece lined don't have them built in). xx

PurplePansy05 · 03/11/2021 21:56

Oooh a new kitchen is exciting @wimbler! When are you moving back to your house, are you still at your in laws' place? xx

OP posts:
sarah13xx · 03/11/2021 22:09

@wimbler an island is definitely the way to go! That’s what we’re doing in our new house. We have a table and a breakfast bar just now but have literally never once sat at the table. I think that’s because we have a dog though and it’s easier to keep him away from your dinner if it’s high up 😂

lucyrp · 04/11/2021 03:19

So I don't know whether to be happy or concerned and I feel more concerned than Anything ag the moment. DS just woken me up to say he's had a nightmare and OH went to sort him out when I realised I haven't even woken up with DD once yet ... we both went to bed at about half 8 and she last ate at 7pm. It took about an hour and a half to get her to sleep but still ... do I wake to feed her or just leave her ? She seems absolutely fine but it's so not like her not to feed .. the longest she's gone is like 5 hours and and he's been 8 and a half 🥺

PurplePansy05 · 04/11/2021 07:45

@lucyrp? Growth spurt? How old is she now? How much did she feee during the day? xx

OP posts:
lucyrp · 04/11/2021 07:49

@PurplePansy05
She was 10 weeks this week on Tuesday, she went 10 hours in the end between feeds as she last fed at 7pm and then fed at 4:45. She slept for a solid 8 hours and didn't need her dummy to go to sleep either. She slept for 4 hours in the day which was a long sleep and wasn't easily disturbed as she fell asleep at my mums house and I had to transfer her into the car seat to go and collect OH from work and she didn't wake until we got home an hour later. Maybe a growth spurt ? Xx I don't want her to sleep through yet I like waking and seeing her in the night 🥺🙈

PurplePansy05 · 04/11/2021 07:59

So that's a total of 12 hrs in a 24 hr period, isn't it? That's not actually that much. My DS has been sleeping long stretches overnight and a bit in the eve (occasionally during the day if I'm lucky...) for most of his life and it's just how he is. However, from about 10 weeks he's been sleeping solid 9 hrs or more, he just stopped waking for night feeds. He now generally feeds more in the second half of the day I've noticed. I wouldn't worry too much but watch her appetite and demeanor today. She might be becoming your (slightly) bigger little girl Flowers xx

@PurplePansy05 yea still at my parents. The build was supposed to take 8-10 weeks. We’re now on week 20 so you can imagine how that’s going down 😂

@lucyrp I know it’s too late and it’s morning now but I’m firmly in the camp of never wake a sleeping baby, especially overnight!! I would have done anything with my first to have her sleep through the night (she didn’t until she was 1). If they’re happily asleep and breathing normally etc I’d say it’s either a growth spurt or she’s just had enough milk in the day that she’s just not hungry. If she does it several nights in a row then she might just be ready to drop the middle of the night feeds. Some babies night wean themselves and some do it early on. As purple says, it’s sad because she’s growing up but I promise you, it’s the holy grail if they can night wean themselves!

lucyrp · 04/11/2021 08:31

@PurplePansy05 it was more like 15 hours looking at my app as I'm still using it, it doesn't worry me or anything I just use it for amusement. Il attach w screenshot of what she did yesterday. She usually naps a lot in the day too and the days where it looks like she hasn't it's just because I haven't recorded it. She's growing so fast already 🥺🥺xx

@wimbler yeah I've always thought that too but it was just so random I was a bit taken a back! We didn't have a particularly tiring day either which would have explained it. I can't believe 10 weeks have flown by already. I'm trying to savour every moment and I think because its my second I know all too well how quickly the time goes 🥺

That's all good @lucyrp 😊 But yes difficult to accept! I am now emotional about the fact he's alreeady 3+ months old and I am finding it hard to deal with that that time with him is already gone forever because he's a different baby now, not my tiny newborn. And then if I start thinking what if he ends up being my only DC that just breaks me, so I try not to think this way 😭 But my gosh that's a lot harder than I thought. I must admit I used to brush off this kind of comments before I had Leo thinking oh come on, you have a DC, you're doing a good job with him/her, pull yourself together. Well it's true, but so much easier said than done 😭 xx

PurplePansy05 · 04/11/2021 08:42

Also what's the app you're using @lucyrp? I like the layout a lot xx

OP posts:
lucyrp · 04/11/2021 08:51

@PurplePansy05 the app is huckleberry! I don't pay for a subscription or anything as it already lets me do what I want to for free.it's really good! At the moment it At the moment anyway and I've been using it for 2 months ish! It feels like only yesterday Evelyn was 2 months but thinking about it 10 weeks is nearly 3 months and it is very emotional. I keep torturing myself and thinking how close I am of going back to work but then have to tell myself I'm not back until June which is ages away yet. Xx
