Not on the beer, honest...

usandnosleep · 15/02/2008 23:03

Hey all

Thanks for the welcome back, can't believe how addicted to MN I've become in the last couple of weeks. Don't know how I've done without it for the last few months.

At my sisters at the mo babysitting her foster children, little angels they are- bless. She has however got a really dodgy keyboard so am having to retype every other word.

Zack has turned into a 'toddler' in the last couple of days, when did he suddenly learn to have an opinion on EVERYTHING!! It's exhausting. .

One of the boys just fell out of bed, got himself back in and was snoring by the time I got up there

DP has a new job which means we are having to cut back quite a lot and it sucks! Will hopefully pay off in the end though......

Zack weighs 9.5 kgs, 21 lbs and is 75cms tall. He's just grown out of 6-9 months clothing, means he's pretty cheap to keep

Did you all have a good Valentines Day? I was pleasantly surprised to find that DP has booked an appointment at my fave salon for a cut and colour, he has booked it for next weekend as we have a 'date'. Can't wait.

We'll be doing our usual trip to Tesco in the morning with DP's gran (94!) and no doubt she'll insist on buying DS the usual pink wafers and cheese puff crisps. They go up in a cupboard never to be seen again, I can't even bring myself to give them to anyone else. Bless her, she looks forward to it all week as does Zack, he shouts "naannnnnyyyyyy" all the way round!

Think I have probably bored you enough now so will leave you in peace.
Here's hoping for good weekends all round.

P.S HC, have you got anything left to paint in your house?! I'm sure you were painting on the antenatal thread!

usandnosleep · 15/02/2008 23:09

Bloss, you have to understand it won't be a cold in the morning it will be............MAN FLU. You have my sympathy.

He is gorg kbaby, love those squeezable cheeks

AnnieOleTing · 16/02/2008 11:37

kbaby, what a cuuutie!!!

Us, LOL at Zack shouting nanny all the way round Tescos!!!

Got K's allergy test back, looks like she allergic to Everything, chicken, fish, chillies, toothpaste, fluoride... and yes, all dairy...
So she can only have water from now on

Ho hum

MaeWest · 16/02/2008 18:22

Bummer about the pox Annie, here's hoping it stays mild. What a faff with K's allergies, hope her skin improves tho

usandnosleep - DH loves cheese puffs, you can send them over here

soph28 · 16/02/2008 20:41

Usandnosleep- my two LOVE cheese puffs too, and I'm quite partial to pink wafers too
Zack sounds sweet- when Toby was that age he used to shout 'Daddy' to random men in Tescos which was mortifying!!!

Annie- poor K! Is she likely to grow out of any of these? Did you say she won't drink soya? Don't you get a special formula milk that is non dairy?

soph28 · 16/02/2008 21:51

usandnosleep- just saw you on thread about dc's being shorter than average. I had asked on this thread what everyone else's dc weighed cos Chloe is quite small. Most of the others are a lot bigger than her except Zack- why are you seeing paediatrician? What other issues concerned you?

Chloe suffers from constant constipation (well she goes most days but stools are like rocks and she screams) and she has constant colds- probably has not gone more than 2 weeks in last year without having a cold. She eats really well, good variety and good quantities- better than a lot of children I know. Is this like Zack or does he have different problems?

usandnosleep · 16/02/2008 22:14

Hi Soph

Zack was born on the 50th centile, he was doing really well until around 8 weeks and then started slipping this coincided with constant illness although nothing serious.
He was monitored by HV and when he started losing weight we were advised to see our GP. GP then referred us to paed. We have been seeing the paed every 3-4 months and he has been monitoring him.
The main concerns were/are recurrent infections, slow weight gain and occasional loss, slow growth, loose and green stools, chestiness, bags under eyes and generally looking pale. At our last appt the doc said he thought we should arrange some tests because his height is no longer following the centile for his weight. If his growth pattern hadn't changed we would not be having the tests.
We are awaiting a sweat test, and blood and urine tests. Despite the concerns the paed maintains that he "would be surprised if the tests came back anything other than normal".

Zack now eats really well but it was a struggle at first. I breastfed until he was a year and now has no more than 2-3ozs of cows milk a day.
I think Zack's problem is he has sooooo much energy! He took his first steps at 9 months and was crawling at 6 months, I'm sure his energy levels have a lot to do with his weight gain, as for his height well I reckon one of these days he's gonna have a huge growth spurt and shock everyone

If you're worried about Chloe I would go and see your GP to put your mind at rest, I'm sure she's absolutely fine. I have 2 friends with children the same age as Zack and Chloe and their children constantly have colds too!

usandnosleep · 16/02/2008 22:19

Mae You're welcome to them but they are the Tesco value ones! She used to buy Cadbury's Animal biscuits and that was a completely different story! 1 for DS 3 for mummy

Oh no Annie Poor little love and poor you, it's bound to mean lots of changes and faffing about. Hopefully will do the trick with her skin though just imagine peaceful nights could be somewhere on the horizon.............

soph28 · 16/02/2008 22:31

thanks for getting back so quickly, usandnosleep (sounds funny typing that). Am not really worried about Chloe- she always looks really healthy but the constipation has been, literally, a PITA .

She was slow to do everything, didn't roll over till about 11mths! Never crawled, started bottom shuffling at a year and has been walking since 3 weeks ago!

She had 2 ear infections before a year and wouldn't eat solids until over 8mths but I think she's just one of these babies that observes and takes her time.

She seems to be making up for lost time now though!

(and it is quite handy that they fit their clothes for so long!!! What size are Zack's feet- Chloe's 3.5C - only problem is that none of Toby's or my neice's old shoes will fit her cos they are too wide, so she will always get brand new shoes!)

usandnosleep · 16/02/2008 22:48

I know! Should really change my name as DS sleeps pretty well now

Zack is 4.5 F/G and LOVES new shoes I know what you mean about the clothes although I do get a bit bored selecting the same old outfits, quite excited about shopping tomorrow as we have to go and buy some 9-12 months stuff

catchingzeds · 16/02/2008 22:55

There changed my name!

Night all, should have been ironing tonight (can no longer afford ironing lady ) instead have eaten cheese on toast and been on MN all night. Ho hum.

soph28 · 16/02/2008 23:14

lol- like the new name

I should be in bed but am waiting till dh gets out of the bath. I just bought Chloe some 12-18mth stuff- have mainly skipped the 9-12mth stage apart from a couple of dresses which still fit her anyway- but that's cos I've recently made a concerted effort to use real nappies again (now that Toby is well and truly toilet trained I can cope with one set of real nappies) which means she needs bigger trousers to fit round her huge nappy! I've also found that girls clothes are definitely smaller than boys ones. I put Chloe in dresses a lot cos socks don't stay on so she wears tights most of the time.

I'm rambling- must be tired. Meant to say though, I hope all Zack's test come back normal- I'm sure you're right about the energy thing- would be worse if he was really lethargic but it sounds as though he just uses it all up v quickly and IME toddlers can use a lot of energy doing very little so when they are very active they must use a LOT.

Anyway, bedtime or I'll have to change my name to Usandnosleep!

Usandnosleep- How thougthful of your DH, I would love DH to do something like that. I had roses and a rugby jersey?
Well Friday night treated us well, not! DS woke at 2am and shouted 'mam' every 2 seconds until we went in to him where he quickly laid back down again and then started shouting mam' again the minute you left his room. That went on until 4.30. Happily DM had them both last night so I got a whole night of undisturbed sleep. bliss.

Thanks or the photo comments- he had his party hair done.
Cheesy puffs urggh ,my 2 never have them because the smell of them makes me want to gag,

I have a problem with DS being in the same 9-12 month clothes or so long and thats because i'm fed up with seeing the same clothes all the time, I cant wait for the summer when I might get an excuse to buy him some new clothes. Hes in ize 5.5 f shoes so is folloing hi sister trend of having big feet!

He refusing to eat at the moment. Yesterday all he had was 1.5 weetabix, didnt want dinner and eat some of DD's spagetti and fish fingers at tea time. Thats it. Not sure what happened to his apetitie.

Zed's- I hope he test results come back ok.

ceebee74 · 17/02/2008 13:35

Have to agree on the clothes front - Josh has been in his 9-12 months clothes since about August time and I am SO SO bored of them - and they are starting to look a bit tatty now aswell.

Kbaby - Josh appears to be exactly the same size as your DS - he is about 26lbs and 80cm too That photo is gorgeous and his hair is so cool!

Zeds - fab name! I really hope the test come back clear too. Josh was born on the 50th centile for both weight and height but is now between 9-25th for height and between 25th-50th for weight so his growth is not matching either.

Touch wood (and I do hope I am not jeopardising anything here) Josh hasn't been ill now for 6 months - he has had a couple of minor colds in that time but that is it. I can't believe it as he went through months just constantly being ill (it did coincide with him starting nursery which probably had something to do with it!) and it began to feel like it was never going to get better.

Hi to everyone else - will try and do a proper catch up later. Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine.

Have just measured Sophie and she is 76cm. She was born measuring 51cm on the 75th centile and is now on the 0.4 centile. She is not too bad weight wise at 23lb-that is following the 9th centile. Haven't been to the clinic for ages so at least I don't need to worry until her 2 year checkup.

Hi laydeez

Hope all well. Sorry to hear about all Kayley's allergies, Annie - but hopefully it'll knock the ezcema nightmare on the head....

Zeds - (like the new name!) - the symptoms you described sound v like coeliac disease - might be worth eliminating gluten from his diet for a couple of weeks and see if his stools firm up for a start... (sorry if that was TMI for any of you!)

Great pic Kbaby - so you've caught the photography bug like me, have you? It's v addictive...

V cute blondies too, Soph!

Hope the migrane's improving HC.

All FAB in the Impy household - have managed to change my hours from 11-7 to 9-5 - so I'll get to put my little man to bed in the evenings - sooooo happy! After all my wailing and knashing of teeth, it's all worked out fine - and the job itself is so much better and my new colleagues are lovely. My new kind of boss bought all his "chicas" a single red rose on the 14th! Since he's the only bloke in the office, he does these sweet things frequently apparently! (Just as well since DP has never done anything for V day!)

Anyway, hugs to you all. Ryan's in a super cheeky-monkey mood today and won't stop climbing on furniture/pulling all baby wipes out packet/and generally being naughty! I'll let him off since I'm so happy to be spending more time with him now! He's been really clingey these past couple of weeks - he's always been a mummy's boy but now he won't let me out of his sight...I've felt so bad leaving him.

Right, really off now! Impy xxxxxx

soph28 · 17/02/2008 21:23

Spin- don't tempt me re: moving to Australia (well probably NZ) but we would move there in a flash if it weren't for our families being too far away! I know constant colds are not unusual, Toby was similar in his first year or so but Chloe is worse (and she makes such a fuss so I notice it more!)
Chloe drinks 9-20oz milk a day, has weetabix for breakfast, loves her water and always gets a fruit bag (bag of fruit puree), she also usually has some chocolate which is also a laxative and up until recently was having califig (syrup of figs and senna) everyday AND STILL has rock hard poos!
I'm honestly not worried about Chloe- think it's just how she is but sometimes something niggles me a little and I need to make sure I'm not ignoring something that could be more serious IYSWIM

Both mine were born on about 75th centile for weight but both were overdue and it wasn't corrected for due date.
Both have ended up on or below 9th centile for weight (think Chloe is closer to 2nd centile) and 25th centile for height but no HV has ever been mildly bothered so I'm not. I think they would only be concerned if it was 9th centile for weight and 90th for height.

HC- hope you feel better soon! I thought they had abolished 2 yr check up. All we get is the 8wk check up and no more till school!

Impy- great news about your improved hours- I bet it's lovely to be there for bedtime everynight now.

TheGoddessBlossom · 18/02/2008 09:33

Morning all. Working at home today, so must do slightly more than the last day i was at home....

some recent pix od the boys although H's hair is even longer now...

Sorry to hear about all K's allergies Annie, will knowing about all of them help with the ezxema (sp)?

jacobandlysetteandabump · 18/02/2008 10:05

sorry still not caught up but thought i'd enter into the weight / height debate as well. jacob is around 60th dentile for weight now but only 11th centile for height - he's 79cms. but both dh and i are only 5'6 so he's never going to be super tal - i guess weight is the one we can influence with food and it seems to be working! saying that he's the pickiest little thing at the moment. fish pie is a good one as is shepherds pie, cottage pie and chicken and mash pie with veg. i'm seeing a pattern - not much chewing involved in any of those, well some but not loads. he's gone off fish fingers but not off fish in itself. i'm blaming molars poor little man.

also the paed has diagnosed with hypersensitive bronchial tubes following virus after virus this winter and the fact that he has slight eczema, non dairy and i'm ashmatic, and dh has really bad skin allergies..... so he has a ventolin inhaler with a plastic tube spacer thing to breathe it through 4 times a day at the moment and also the most disgusting chewable anti inflammatories you can imagine. i have to break them up and hide them in yoghurt, so now it means he's going off yoghurt as he's associating the disgustingness with the pills!!!

but he can now say hand and show you his hand when you ask, also saying new words this weekend pee, poo, pie, cake, potty (on the odd ocasion) and lots of yesssss! all this after refusing to utter one single word for the paed on thursday

annie so sorry to hear about k's allergies - what about rice milk? a couple of friends of mine have children who are off dairy and don't want to give soya so use rice milk. saying that we have been trying lactofree and it still seems to be making him a bit congested so we are back on soya again.

bloss i'd kill for 9.2 or 8.12! can't remember the last time i was 8 stone something... although i've put on much less weight in this pg than with jacob so that's something at least. only (for me!) put on 9kg and given i put on 5stone last time it's a massive difference! my appetite is completley up and down at the moment - i had 5 peices of fruit for dinner last night and nothing else. although the 400g steak i had for lunch probably had something to do with it

anyway, must away - 2 friends from monkey music had little boys in the last few weeks so i have gifts for the new ones and the older children to wrap, and we're going to walk to m music today so must leave in plenty of time!!! am constantly late and we only live about 5 mins away...
