Have noticed lots of other 04 months but not June so thought I would get it going DS was born on June 17th. He is totally different to how DD was so its like starting over again! He's growing fast but seems to get very bored and frustrated at not being able to do much. He's just starting jars of baby food but tends to have a bit of a sweet tooth!! He's also a gemini and definately seems to have two personalities in there - he can stare at you and go from wobbly bottom lip/about to burst into tear to huge grin in a second!! How are other the other June babies getting on?

MG- I have finished myt xmas shopping for the kids all the presents habve been wrapped up for the past 3 weeks now, they are all under the tree too. (apart from the big boxes) I have been very silly though and I spent the same amount on each even though Scott won't really know I just felt guilty on DD getting x amount and him not. I have bought him a leapfrog activity table from 6-36months, another table thingy where the balls all float in the tubes throught he air when the buttons are pressed, and another thingy with balls that go down the tunnels, then some roll around toys. I have told the rest of the family to only buy them clothes as they really don't need any more toys.

It is a nightmare as DD dad and his parents keep asking me what she wants, It is so hard though with us being out here and gettting everything back with us.I have told them that if they want to but her anything big they need to either give me the money and I will by it out here or they keep it at there houses for when she goes to see them. ( she is spoilt!!!! in fact they both are!!!) I have told her though that she won't get the presents of DH and I until we get back from the UK on the 4th Jan. She was ok with that but it is killing her now as all the presents are under the tree.!!! I am wicked Wink She is a non-believer btw.

Has this thread moved here recently or am I going mad then? Madness is possible. Friday had the best night ever with Alex - slept 8pm - 7:15am. Yesterday and tonight (so far) have been the worst ever. He's gone to sleep alright but last night woke after 2 hours and cried for 3 hours and was inconsolable. Tonight woke after half and hour although this time we let him cry himself to sleep after holding him was doing no good so he has just gone back but I'm waiting for him to start crying again. What the hell's going on - any ideas anyone? Could teething pain be doing this even though giving him Calpol and Medised has done no good whatsoever??

OnZephyrstdayofXmas · 05/12/2004 22:24

Hiya Monkeygirl - sounds like you're having a bit of a rough time! Finlay still wakes through the night and it's really starting to get to me now. Is he having a lot of solids? Could be that he's coming into a growth spurt and waking hungry?
Saying that i was wondering about teething as over the last few days Finlay has had a few moment of completely inconsolable screaming - is that what you're getting?

monkeygirl · 05/12/2004 22:37

OZFDOC (blimey hope I got that all right!) - yes it's quite long periods of inconsolable crying at night only. He is seriously underwhelmed by solids and so hasn't had much but had been a reasonable sleeper up until recently. I did think about the growth spurt thing but what concerns me is that we just can't stop him crying but he is an absolute doll in the day time and even naps with not much trouble. Doesn't help that dd1 is sick yet again tonight with another high temp and start of something....arrrraghhhhh!!!!

OnZephyrstdayofXmas · 05/12/2004 22:40

when he screams at night do you pick him up? I've tried to pick Fin up the last few times but he thrashes his arms and legs as if its hurting him to be picked up. Is he next to your bed?

monkeygirl · 05/12/2004 22:51

Alex is in our room which is small so he's close! Yes I do pick him up after a while but it's rare that he will stop crying and he does wave his arms and legs around but then he always does when he cries. Are you going through something similar then do you think? How long does Finn cry for?

OnZephyrstdayofXmas · 05/12/2004 22:53

generally in the night i can get him back to sleep with a bottle but he's definately got the same inconsolable screaming thing going on but during the day. That's why i was wondering if he was teething - I never had any probs with dd so dont really know what to look for!! But he screams like he's in agony and i cant do anything with him at all

monkeygirl · 05/12/2004 23:04

Yes my dd1 was completely different - she moaned but it was never for long and never that loud. Well, it sounds like we are going through similar things which is quite reassuring so it would be a horrible co-incidence if it wasn't something like teething. Alex has now been asleep for 50 mins but I'm still not going to hold my breath. Looks like we will have to try and grit our teeth then and see if the little blighters' pearlies come through in the next few days.

OnZephyrstdayofXmas · 05/12/2004 23:19

hope so!! I keep saying to finn that he'd better have some bloody teeth in the morning to make up for all the screaming!!! It is reassuring to know he's not the only one though (not thats its nice for you but at least its less likely to be something more serious!)

Hope you get a good nights sleep! :)

monkeygirl · 05/12/2004 23:27

I'm not banking on it tonight but I have quaffed a couple of glasses of wine to help me unwind Grin. Better go off and do (milk) bottles now then I can go to bed. Night - and good luck yourself tomorrow with the day-shift!

Skara · 06/12/2004 22:28

think I'm going mad...have just spent so long looking for this thread I have now run out of brain cells and have nothing to say Grin. Except I think I have managed to persuade J that solid food is rather tasty (phew).

Skara · 06/12/2004 22:29

Aha, I see...it has moved to a new home called 'post natal clubs'. Oops Grin

OnZephyrstdayofXmas · 07/12/2004 14:02

Hi all! Just come back from clinic - Finlay has only put on 9oz in three weeks bless him - so he's 16lbs8 now.

Have any of yours slowed down with their eating at all? Finn will have generally 2 jars a day plus some juice and a couple of bottles - but then like today, he woke up at about 9 this morning and has only had a couple of ounces of milk since then!! Tried to give him some more but he wasn't bothered

zebra · 07/12/2004 19:15

Yes, Tristan has really slowed down on milk intake!! He's away from me for 7.25 hours 2 days week, and he only takes 2 oz EBM then even though I find myself expressing off 5-6 oz during my work breaks, no problem. Obviously holding out & not too desperate.
Anbesol for the teething, btw. Seems to work a treat with T. His are well thru, now, though, not sure if they should still be hurting him.

zebra · 09/12/2004 17:59

News Flash: Top tooth breaking thru (pretty sure), good chance he'll have 4 by 6 months old!

cathncait · 13/12/2004 13:01

HI again
Hope everyone is good. I'm feeling a bit frazzled this week. Haven't been quite 100% health wise this week and i think dd1 is coming down with something too. She has been whining and sooooo overreacting to everything that I may go crazy! Dh hasn't been well either (chronic fatigue) so have been alone for a lot of the day (most)which doesn\t help. Well, thats my whinging out of the way...otherwise things are ok. DD1 is sort of 'getting' the toilt training thing and I feel we are getting somewhere with that (big relief as it all went bad for about a week or so). Grace is so active I am constantly amazed by her. She is commando crawling now and if no one is in the same room as her she will come to where we are and is so happy when she finds us! Smile.
I am not ready for christmas as I am sure it is getting here way too fast! I still have some shopping to do.
Have started her on solids today and she was defineatly interested - didn't have much but liked the idea. She is 6 months on the 23rd. Where does the time go???

Gomez · 14/12/2004 15:17

Hi All,

Bedlam chez Gomez. DD1 has/had glandular fever plus DD2 with broncholitis - joy deep joy all around. Both now a bit better but DD1 still not tip-top and unlikely to be for a while yet I believe. No where near ready for Santa arriving. Arguing with work on 3 day week - now not possible as they don't think they will be able to recruit someone to undertake my role on a part-time basis, eh have you tried? But to be fair I don't really care as I have been accepted onto my law degree for next year!!!!! Not that they now that yet and I am course negotiating a part-time role until at least the Summer...

Pleased everyone else seems to be good, excepting cough/colds and general lurgy. Will try and catch up soon.

karen01 · 15/12/2004 16:38

Gomez- Hope DD1 and 2 are better soon.

I had Scott weighed thi mornig he has put on 10oz!!!! in a week he now weighs 15lb10oz. Oh and he is now rolling over, only from back to front then he does the motions for crawling. He looks more like he is trying to do the breast stroke!!! or a frog!!!!!

monkeygirl · 16/12/2004 11:09

Hello all!

Gomez - sounds rough - hope they're better soon. And Cathncait - is dh better?

We too have been plagued by illnesses. DD has had a bad cough/cold and then got an ear infection. Ds had a chest infection to go with the coughs/colds and then got an eye infection. Everyone still has a cough except me. And to add to it we've had a bloody computer virus which has really buggered us up! I'm on tenterhooks cos I'm not convinced I've got rid of it and it keeps cutting me off from the internet. Anyway no teeth STILL, no rolling and ds hates being on his tummy. But he did move a few mms forward with some bum shuffling and has also started babbling. Can't believe he is now 6 months old - where does the time go.

The worse thing atm is cries when he is in his buggy. And he doesn't stop. Ever. DD also went through the same phase. Is this a genetic thing????

OnZephyrstdayofXmas · 16/12/2004 18:17

Hi everyone! Can't believe Finlay is going to be 6 months tomorrow - where has the time gone??!!
Not much has changed though - no teeth, not much rolling- can only roll from front to back. He's getting quite good lying on his belly but he gets fed up and frustrated really quickly. Doesn't help having floorboards either as he can't push himself anywhere - just spins round in circles!! He does like sitting up though so he can watch whatever DD is doing - love of his life!! Going to get him a bumbo so he can sit and join in with her without falling over!

karen01 · 17/12/2004 15:23

Is everyone ready for Christmas??????????

OnZephyrstdayofXmas · 17/12/2004 15:25

not at all. It's a disaster!! lol are you ready?

karen01 · 17/12/2004 15:35

Got my kids sorted but I need to sort out parents , exdp and parents and cousins,, will do this when we get back to the UK on Monday. we are just getting everything ready for that now!!! Oh joy

EbenyZebraScrooge · 17/12/2004 19:05

Don't hate me, I think we really are ready for Christmas.
Tris is 6 months now (yesterday). We got him a pizza to celebrate (tralalalalalala....). Big relief that I can just offer him bits and pieces now if I feel like it; I hate strict rules that are very easy to break. Hopeless at keeping them, really.
Almost never rolls over, though. It's funny, he's developping so different from the other 2.
Happy Christmas, all.

monkeygirl · 18/12/2004 12:43

Well I'm guess I'm nearly ready, just the food and booze to get for Xmas day/week. Oh, haven't done any cards yet, oops!

Alex has finally finally got a slither of tooth that has cut through - yayyyyyyy! Dh also sent his picture to a modelling agency without telling me (he dotes on him!) and we now have his first casting for a job on Monday!! And he has a lovely teething rash on his cheeks. I wasn't too sure whether to go through with the whole thing yet but think I will take him just cos it's something different to do and a bit of an experience (as well as a bit of cash just for turning up!).

I meanwhile have done my back in and am in agony today which is particularly bad cos I have to clean the house for my IL's visit tomorrow. Sigh.
