Have noticed lots of other 04 months but not June so thought I would get it going DS was born on June 17th. He is totally different to how DD was so its like starting over again! He's growing fast but seems to get very bored and frustrated at not being able to do much. He's just starting jars of baby food but tends to have a bit of a sweet tooth!! He's also a gemini and definately seems to have two personalities in there - he can stare at you and go from wobbly bottom lip/about to burst into tear to huge grin in a second!! How are other the other June babies getting on?

Good luck for tommorrow MG. Even if it just for the outing hope you both enjoy it. I have often thought about it for DD.

No sign of teeth yet.

I am just getting the final things ready for coming back to blighty to mmorrow. so must go.

If I don't get chance to log back on over there
HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Hi All,

Just passing through after requesting advice from the Mumsnet Oracle on flexible working. All well here, looking forward to Christmas and I hope you all have a splendid time over the holidays.

Take care all.

cathncait · 22/12/2004 05:33

hi everyone
I am still not quite ready for christmas...I have one more pressy to buy and just don't know what to get. So thats tomorrow.. otherwise we are all set (a bit of wrapping to do). Not much planned for us..family dinners - my family lunch then dh's for evening meal. I am looking forward to christmas morning as dd1 is getting very excited now and will have a great time i am sure.

Grace is moving around the whole house now and getting into everything not tied down. She has learned to push herself into sitting position so she can reach things she wants to wreck.
She is also starting to try and pull her self onto her feet on my leg. Now that is just not right! she is only 6 months old tomorrow! She is scary! I thought dd 1 was quick to do things (walked at 10 months) but wow. So much for being a baby!
Well girls, I hope you all have a fantasic Christmas and have a wonderful time with your families. God Bless. Talk to you again soon.
Cath xx

Wow - so much news from everyone. Have just skimmed through last week's messages. Have been working and everything's been a bit mad. Ava is lovely. No teeth, rolling, grabbing everything in sight. Started crying in lots of inventive ways, will not go into her cot without shrieking, although she stops as soon as light is out (generally). she may need a helmet for her plagiocephaly (wonky head, to you & me). we'll know after christmas. Have dropped 2 bfs, only do morning & evening now, feel much free-er & happier. Off to ILs tomorrow for 4 days. MIL not well.
Gomez, well done for getting on your course. MG good luck at the casting.
Happy Christmas to you all
xoxo

Finally!! Finlay is getting somewhere lol. Last night I noticed his bottom two teeth showing just under the surface. He can flip over from front to back and can launch himself out of his bouncy chair!!! (luckily we caught him!!)
He's turning into a right little character. He sits and 'talks' to whatever he's holding, has a tantrum idf he can't reach what he wants and still loves his sister way more than me or his Dad!!!

monkeygirl · 22/12/2004 22:22

Sounds like the babies are beginning to assert themselves.

It never rains but pours here...Alex has, as I suspected, 2 teeth that both broke through the surface at about the same time (Friday) with much pain obviously. Casting was surreal - it was for an advert, but A's skin was awful so on that front alone I don't think he'll get anywhere but at least it got us to move our arses and go into town to see the Chrsitmas Lights (with about half of Britain at the same time I think).

I lost my purse on Sunday with about half my life (I think it went in the bin) and so have had to cancel all my cards and can not get any money out.And I have not done the food shopping yet for Christmas. And this morning dd1 woke up with bloody chickenpox! So we've had to cancel all visits and am just waiting for Alex to get it as well, I guess.

Have a great Christmas all if I don't post again cos I've lost the will to live!

monkeygirl · 22/12/2004 22:27

Oh yeah no rolling yet from Alex but he is also pushing himself to standing on my leg and is beginning to bum shuffle a few inches forward - gulp.

zebra · 30/12/2004 17:57

C'mon ladies, where are you?
Must be having a really grand Christmas???
How much solids are your babies having? From almost nothing 2 weeks ago T. is now having the same as about 2 jars/day... is that a lot or a little?!

monkeygirl · 31/12/2004 13:42

Hello all. Hope you all had a great Christmas. Ours was very good considering dd1 had chickenpox but must admit after 6 days of having to stay in we were all going slightly stir crazy.

Alex finally 'got' solids on boxing day. He now has about 2/3 jar in the morning (if I let him have the Hipp porridge which he loves) and maybe half a jar at lunchtime. He also loves to suck on an apple piece and dribble all over a banana. But he's still on 5 bottles a day, albeit with fewer ounces - do I just go cold turkey (topical eh!) on him and drop a bottle or 2 now??

He also set a record last night and slept 12 hours solid but that was after a day of being very unsettled and tearful at my mum's - the stranger fear has started!

Happy New Year All! Day has not gone well so far so I'll be ready for a drink soon!

monkeygirl · 02/01/2005 21:16

Have you all snuck off to another thread somewhere else then??

Ds has some spots on his scalp and tummy so The Pox has finally got him - could be a tough few days. He's also been getting more frustrated recently cos he wants to be on the move. His favourite thing over Xmas has been to hold on to my hands to pull himself up to standing and today he seemed to be trying to move his feet. But still a definite no-roller!

Anyone else finding it hard to keep them occupied at this stage? Or maybe that's what everyone is off doing...

Zephyrcat · 02/01/2005 21:36

Hellooo! I've been having a complete nightmare trying to keep Finlay occupied. He hates being on his front, gets bored on his back, wants to grab everything in sight lol I didn't remember it being this frustrating with Gabi!! I really cant wait for him to start moving around so he can keep himself amused for a while. We're going through a bit of seperation anxiety too which is great fun - not! We can't even sit him up because he throws himself backwards or forwards trying to get stuff - he also 'bounces' all the time so he falls all over the place!

OP posts:
Zephyrcat · 02/01/2005 21:38

He's eating lots too..... sometimes has toast in the morning to suck on and make mess with!! Or i mash up half a banana with a bit of water - he loves that! Tried to give him a bit of mash but he was disgusted with me. He generally has 2/3 jars a day, 6oz of juice and a couple of bottles as well. Going in to get weighhhed on tues but he's slowed right down with his weight now.

OP posts:
monkeygirl · 02/01/2005 21:43

That's funny - Alex does that throwing himself around thing and a couple of times this week I have forgotten to put a cushion near him first - his head makes a nice thudding noise .

I keep thinking it wasn't this bad first time round but I wonder if it's because I can't devote 100% to him as I could wth dd1 when she was an only child and me an adoring and attentive mum (as opposed to now being adoring but frazzled and distracted )

Zephyrcat · 02/01/2005 22:05

I'm a lot less attentive too than i was with Gabi. I dont know if thats good or bad!! I think she was doing more stuff than he is by now - i dont know if that's coz it was jusst me and her playing on the floor together all day. I suppose he'll get going when he's ready!! Does Alex throw himself about if he's sitting up on your knee? Finlay is a looney!! He rocks himself as hard as he can and is getting so strong!!

OP posts:
monkeygirl · 02/01/2005 22:14

Alex bounces like a mad thing on my knee and then lunges at me. He does the throwing himelf back thing when he's frustrated or about to let rip one of his ear-splitting screams.

Same here with the used to spend loads of time on the floor doing things with dd1. But surely you just can't give 2nd etc kids the same attention unless your 1st is at school?? Must admit I do worry that I am depriving him. And I definitely haven't got the same enthusisam for playing - I did so much for the first 3 years of dd1's life I'm all played out!

Zephyrcat · 02/01/2005 22:16

Lol SNAP!!!!

Skara · 03/01/2005 00:04

Hi all, I thought I'd pop my head round the door and say hello, having survived the nightmare that was Christmas with my family from hell .

J is still totally easy going. It's obviously just his personality - I'm not complaining obviously! He's rolling madly, dragging himself around commando-style, refusing to take any interest in solids and still feeding loads. I should be a twiglet but instead am a lardbucket. I am hideously broody. Have definitely decided on a no4 but suspect that's cos it's the holidays,we're relaxed and everyone's happy - when I'm dragging them all out of the door at 8.45 on Wednesday I bet I'm swearing never again .

zebra · 03/01/2005 20:29

You are completely mad, of course, Skara.
T. can finally consistently roll over! Only from his tummy to back, though, still can't do back to tummy. And Tris sits quite well. DD was rolling everywhere by now & DS1 was crawling. Such a big reminder they're all different.

To be quite honest, when Tristan is bored we tend to feed him solids (naughty, or what?!). But it works! he really likes "playing" with his food. Spent half an hour sucking on some cabbage, this eve.

Gomez · 03/01/2005 20:58

Hello,

Hope you all had good fun over Christmas/New Year and that Santa was good to everybody. Well after a mainly hideous December with both girls ill things settled down around Christmas and a fun time was had by all.

Too much of a fun time for me on my Christmas Lunch with work - started sipping some wine at Noon and the day ending with me being sick in the loos and telling my boss he was a 'w**ker ! Due back at work two weeks today as well so obviously looking forward to that lots . I think he did agree to a 3-day week thou so perhaps not all bad - although I haven't had a chance to call and confirm that hazy memory as yet.....

Anyways Lily is eating well, learning to scream (such an attractive personality trait), sitting up and then falling over as she tries to get onto her tummy to 'crawl' - except she is too fat and although the mind is willing the flesh is wobbling. Poor wee scone. Four teeth now and first settling in session at Nursery on Thursday - gulp where had the time gone!

Take care all

monkeygirl · 04/01/2005 22:37

Gomez - you obviously had a good Xmas - well done! Ah memories of old works do in my 'past' life...

And may I welcome Lilly to the screamers club. Alex still loves a good ear-splitting scream several times a day but it can be good for clearing a path in the street.

But at the moment the poor lad is absolutely covered in spots which are now blistering and looking very itchy, poor little blighter. He's been very good considering and only woke up once last night. Fingers crossed that no more spots will appear (as if there's any more room) and that they will start to scab up and go now.

For everyone's sanity we need a bit of 'normality' in our lives and to be able to go out and get some fresh (well London) air.

Gomez · 06/01/2005 14:47

Me again,

Passing throughg and popped in to say hello. Count down to returning to work... only 6 more working days-off . Lily had first wee session at Nursery this morning (okay only 45 mins and I was there) but was was fine. Back next week when I have to leave her for a whole 1.5 hours.

Hope you and respective babies are well. Any crawlers yet? Or any other impressive achievements?

Bye,

zebra · 06/01/2005 21:02

Do your babies do the head-shaking/torso shaking thing, yet? Just whipping self around (exorcist style) for the fun of it?
Usually accompanied with loud shrieking, of course!

Gomez · 06/01/2005 23:14

Can't say I have noticed any head shaking but we do have an arching back/pelvic thrust thingy which is v. strange. But does have the desired effect of independent movement, just not a good look .

Gomez · 06/01/2005 23:15

And is accompanied with grunts rather then shrieking - nice!

monkeygirl · 06/01/2005 23:25

Alex doesn't do torso-twisting but does do eyes rolling into the back of his head although I think he has now moved on from that. And he is a back-archer. The last 2 nights have been my worse baby nights ever. Poor lad not sleeping and jerking from all the itching I guess. Today is the first day that he didn't look like a leper and he seems better but at the moment he is crying so my heart is sinking again...just been in and still crying ...ho hum...it's gonna be another long night...
