Have noticed lots of other 04 months but not June so thought I would get it going DS was born on June 17th. He is totally different to how DD was so its like starting over again! He's growing fast but seems to get very bored and frustrated at not being able to do much. He's just starting jars of baby food but tends to have a bit of a sweet tooth!! He's also a gemini and definately seems to have two personalities in there - he can stare at you and go from wobbly bottom lip/about to burst into tear to huge grin in a second!! How are other the other June babies getting on?

My dh is currently playing The Getaway yet again which is why I can't watch tv so have to go on the computer - sorry but evenings for me are never about being domestic goddess (hah as if I am in the day). Btw it's a pretty boring shoot-'em-up mostly so I lost interest in it. Sims does sound much more interesting.

Skara - I am also the same about meaning to comment on someone's post and then when I begin typing I completely forget what I was going to write.

Cathncait - I too still have problems 'down below' - my episiotomy scar seems to have come undone (sorry if tmi!) but really don't want to go to the docs yet again. I blame my crap mw (mind you I blame her for everything). Today we have also been dummy-free since ds first had it! It's not actually been too bad so far but I am not getting excited as I think the tough time will be at 5am so I may crumble yet.

Karen - lol at ds in walker!

Skara - I was born in Bucks! - now you'll have me guessing the place....

cathncait · 18/11/2004 12:12

well, I just ducked in to have a quick look and everybodys talking the leg off a chair! Wow we really are all or nothing arn't we
Glad to hear gomez that we're not the only ones with the tummy sleeping babies. I really think cigarette smoke is the greatest contributor to cot death - not that I disregard the other stuff.
Skara - its not too rude to ask at all. Yes I felt that something was'just not right' like you said and went to get checked. I'm still a bit worried really as I'm not convinced pelvic floor exercises are going to fix this - even though it is minor. Monkeygirl - I wouldn't leave it too long to go to the docs -a tear could be serious, you don't want to muck around with stuff like that! I had an episiotomy (sp?) with dd1 and it is my worst memory of the whole thing, it took ages to heal but did eventually. Sounds like you're doing great with the dummy thing too. I think just not having to worry about taking one out and worrying about whether they're clean etc. is the best thing not having it. Also Grace settles much better because shes used to settling herself now. (of course after me saying that she's started crying its 8pm and shes supposed to be going to sleep.)
Anyway gotta dash. Take care all.

karen01 · 18/11/2004 15:55

Update on the unbroken washing machine!!!! I ohoned them up thuis afternoon as the told me mine would be back today or a replacement. I was told that the washing machine does appear to be broken and needs a new motor.!!!! I have been telling them but what do I know I only use the bloody thing. Think i am going to speak with the Naafi and say i want a new one as it is only 4 months old and the motor going this soon is not acceptable.

On A GOOD note (don't all over Karen with good news ) MIL and NIL are flying back to the UK tommorrow. They are flying into Stanstead then are having an ambulance take them up to Darlington. Everyone is so relieved that they are going to be home at last.

Must go and sort tea out.

will be back later to see if anyone is joining tonight!!!

karen01 · 18/11/2004 15:55

That should be don't fall over!!!!!!

monkeygirl · 18/11/2004 23:03

Hello Karen - are you one or two hours ahead of us? Well I guess you're in bed now? Glad you've sorted out some of your troubles - I get very uptight if anything goes wrong?

Cathncait - two whole days and no dummy and I'm nowhere near caving in because he's actually been very good about it. And I have put ds into bed awake both nights with just his cuski to cuddle and he has gone off to sleep, first night with a few whimpers and tonight with not a peep from him! Cross fingers for me!

karen01 · 19/11/2004 19:49

MG- I am two hours ahead.

Just about to cuddle up on the sofa to watch a dvd with dh.

Amai · 21/11/2004 19:09

Hi all so solids are a real hassel! So is posting on this thread. DD knows and screams every time, so bye...

Skara · 21/11/2004 21:54

MG we're north of Aylesbury so start guessing!

The gorgeous J has taken to waking once every 2 hours every night and having a full feed. Time for solid food methinks - as he's 6 months a week on Tuesday that's pretty good timing. I pureed a bag of carrots and 4 pears today whilst I was in the mood and let him try a bit on a spoon which he seemed to think was reasonably interesting. Half of me is sniffling because I don't want my lovely baby needing anything but me, the other half is feeling relieved at the thought that I'll be able to pop out to the hairdresser without having to worry about him dying of starvation.

The good news is that he too is going off to sleep with his little rabbit and his mobile playing. Hope he's going to be another good sleeper [crossed fingers smiley].

Amai · 22/11/2004 10:44

I see some of you are second time rounders or third etc... Can you tell me how it is possible to prepare food for dd bulk. Have tried freezing purees but this only works for apple and fruity things. Pumkin, sweetpotato and spuds mixes just go rubbery and lumpy. can i just put these in the fridge for up to three days, o ram I just lazy to want to?
Dd is not rolling over yet but is yelling herself hoarse constantly. Whilst being really annoying for me i think she is ruining her voice and trying to signal her teething pains poor lass. She is rather bald but is growing well in all other aspects.

cathncait · 22/11/2004 13:17

Well, exciting news for the day - Gracepopped out a tooth Thought she was coming down with something cos she just hasn't been 'right' this week. But now we know! I think the second one is on its way too as she has been really hard to settle yesterday and today. But she has been so much better about it all than dd1 ever was. She was errible and woke up all night for ages. With Grace though, once shes asleep she is fine. Just hard to get her off.

Amai, iwas relieved for you to read that you're not pregnant again - just too soon. That would be hardwork I'm sure. All in good time. As for the solids - I used to freeze stuff in icecube tray - but like you say potatoes and such just don't freeze well. But there are heaps you can freeze. i found things like carrot, peas, corn, even pumpkin to be easy and you can keep the other stuff in the fridge for a couple of days. Just remember they really don't eat that much to start with so you won't need 'heaps' anyway. I know a lot of people disagree but I always cooked stuff in the microwave as it is so much quicker and easier. But thats up to you and how you feel about all those microwaves.
Skara - I can't believeJ is nearly 6 months! Where did the time go????
Zephyrcat- How is your potty training going now? I saw your thread the other day ..I would have replied but I have no advice. I have stopped trying with my dd1 (2 and 4months) cos it all went haywire but I'm not that confident that it will go better soon. Hope its going ok for you.
MG - the no dummy things sounds like its going well. i have to admit to using it at night a couple of times in the last few days with Grace teething. But she hasn't seem to want it at other times. Only used it when all else has failed.
have you been to the doctor about your 'bits' yet or are things better? (if you don't mind me asking)
How did you go with your washing machine Karen? Hope you got it all sorted. What a pain in the bum!
Anyway all, look forward to hearing your news soon.
Cath

zephyrcat · 22/11/2004 13:35

Hi everyone! Not been on here a little while as Finlay hasn't really been up to much! No rolling and no teeth! However he tries really hard to sit up and can sit in front of pillows for a couple of minutes. He also goes beserk when he's sitting up on mine or dp's knees - he kind of rocks himself and tries to jump up off our knees if that makes sense?? He looks like a proper little headbanger!! He's 'talking' loads as well which I was quite surpised at as dd was a really late talker/babbler. Cathncait the potty training is still a bit wobbly to say the least!! I think I've gone the wrong way about it tho - I got angry with her a few times and dp said last time she had an accident and he said to her to go and see mummy she locked the bathroom door so i'm going to try and ignore it and see how she does.
Finlay is loving his 'solids' he has 2 jars a day with some juice as well as milk inbetween!! He also manages almost a whole bottle at two or three intervals thru the night which is a pain in the a**e!! Took him to be weighed last week anmd he only put on 2oz in 2 weeks! Still - I'm going to be strong and not fall into the 'ideal weight' panic!!

HI
Cathncait-I have my wasging machine back now and it seems to be working ok. After everything it needed a new motor.

Scott has been poorly bless him he is full of cold and has a really weepy eye, took him to the docs and he ssai it isn't conjunctivitious, it is all just part of his cold.

DH MIL and NIL have arrived back in the uk safe and sound. NIL is now at her own house, with family taking it in turns to look after her.

The weather has taken a big turn here today,on saturday we went shopping and had on just t shirts then yesterday it poured down all day with a little wind, then today it has rained on and off all day, but the air temp has been icy cold, it is about 15 degrees, but feels alot colder. I am going shopping tommorrow to buy Scott and NIcole there winter coats.

This is DH last week on his course can't wait for Friday. {grin} then we can get back to family life properly. My aunty is popping over to see us for the weekend. I have a feeling now she is also based ont he island we will be seeing her most weekends. Which is fine as she is just like my big sister. (there is only seven years between us. Infact the age difference between us is less than Nicole and Scott!!!)

Anyway just waughkling now.

Great news about Graces teeth cathncait, Scott is showing all the signs but nothing has popped through yet. He still isn't rolling neither yet.

I need to go and put all my washing away (a weeks worth) so that shold keep me entertained tonight!!!!! JOY!!!

Bye for now.

Amai · 22/11/2004 19:43

Happy to get your advice cnc, the reason I asked is cos dd has been eating for nearly a week now and is wolfing it down. If it is too cold or hot she wont eat it, sooooo annoying trying to keep it at one temp!
As I have only just started the dummy thing it is not such a prob, with dd only using to go to sleep. These days though with teething the dummy doesnt do the trick anymore.
ANY TEETHING TOY RECOMMENDATIONS? Baby not impressed with anything I have given her as they are too cold to hold or not hard enough. Dying for a miracle teether device that she can hold and I can put in the fridge.
zcat-my dd isn't doing much rolling but gets very excited when i stand her on my lap!
MG-sypathies with down there probs. Me too I think episiotomies should be banned and only used in emergencies as in other civilised countries!
Karen01- where are you from I did not find that I assume it is not england by the time difference thing.

zebra · 22/11/2004 20:02

Blankets, Amai, DS2 really likes to gnaw on blankets. He plays peek-a-boo beautifully; you throw a blanket over his head and he wiggles every limb trying to get it off. I ask loudly "Where's Tristan??" (coz I lied about his name, too ), and eventually he peeks around the blanket, giggling deliriously, delighted with himself.

The others never learnt to play peek-a-boo like this, it's really cute. Or he just chews on the blanket; the brighter the colours the better.

Oh, and I let him gnaw on an apple core a few weeks ago. I'm generally holding off on solids, but he was certainly intrigued.

XenaWP · 22/11/2004 20:06

OK, brief message to say - I am here! as Karen realised I was waffling away on old thread, thinking - blimey, it's quiet here...

am working my way through all talk below, so far can agree about thread killing - often feel you're talking & no one's listening!! but having said that I got some v useful & lovely answers a couple of weeks ago when I was worried about milk supply
am still about a stone overweight & it's just not shifting - mind you not helped by copious amounts of chocolate consumed to aid milk production
sooo, have recklessly agreed to do a 1/2 marathon in March. Never run before in my life, so I realise this may be a trifle foolish, but I think I need a radical solution & a goal. Hmm. Been on 1 run so far with dp, with a babysitter looking after dd, nearly killed dp (was feeling v grumpy) and ran (v slow jog) not very far. oh well, onwards & upwards.
this morning I had a lovely list of things to do, and managed to put on 1 load of washing - hurrah!
Dd (Ava) is lovely, v smiley, poor thing has v tired mum, she's rolling, no signs of teeth, just loads of chewing & dribbling. Still got bit of a wonky head from problem from birth, got appt with specialist in Feb, but am making appt with consultant privately so can see them sooner (physio says sooner the better, but hospital can't do earlier) to know if she'll have to wear a helmet to straighten her head. Hope not...
ho hum, think that's long enough for now
PS Cavy/Zebra - no problemo

karen01 · 22/11/2004 20:12

Zebra- I love the name Tristan. gLAD TO C U BACK. [GRIN]

Amai- I am from the UK. MY DH is in the Forces. We are currently living in Cyprus.
Blankets are good, both of mine have used them. With DS I keep changing them as DD got attached to one and trying to wash it was a nightmare as she got older. I used to sneak it in the wash whilst she was playing then she would go past the washing machine and see it she would sit on the floor looking at the drum with her head rolling following it, shouting "I want my blankie" continiously!!!. I find Scott likes to knaw on knuckles also.!!

karen01 · 22/11/2004 20:12

OOOPS that should have been a

karen01 · 22/11/2004 20:14

Xenawp- hope dd head gets sorted bless her.

Skara · 22/11/2004 21:40

Oh I do love the name Tristan :-) You do know Zebra that we've been floating around on the same email lists for years? Can't believe you are Cavy!

Cath, can't believe Grace has teeth already. I'd be really traumatised if J did, cos I love that gummy look (only in babies, I add hastily ).
Zcat, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one feeding loads of times each night - knackering isn't it? I actually managed about 3.5 hours of sleep in a row last night which felt amazing. However I am so foul all day as a result of disturbed sleep, I really hope it doesn't go on much longer...
Xena, can sympathise on the chocolate/tiredness - I say every morning I'm going to be virtuous but succumb to something high fat and unsuitable by about 11am cos I'm so worn out. All I've done in this message is moan about tiredness - lack of sleep is my obsession of the moment! Am now paranoid I've missed someone but have to go so if I have, it's not deliberate

monkeygirl · 22/11/2004 23:01

Hello all!

Skara - I was born in that dreaded town (hate/hated it) but there are some lovely villages up around there!

Cathncait - well, I am very bad about going to doctors so I haven't been but bleeding stopped after one day so fingers crossed nothing else goes wrong! Hope you are doing those exercises - all together now squeeze 2, 3, 4...

We are still dummy free and will stay like that, although have been tempted tonight cos Alex is ill . He had a cold and the weeping one eye but has now got a chest infection and is on antibiotics. Last night was quite worrying as he was finding it hard to breath, so I'll no doubt be awake most of tonight checking the poor little thing. His illness has also seen us return to a night-feed cos he has so little milk in the day. Good job he started off the size of a mini-barrel!

Alex also loves gumming my knuckles - sorry not very practical there. He also quite likes a teether I got him from Mothercare I think - it's in the shape of a fish and you cool it in the fridge. But the one thing that really gets him excited is newspaper - he cries if he sees me reading one and won't let him have it, which I don't obviously cos I know he'd just suck off all the print.

Xenawp - welcome back to the fold! Poor little mite, hope you get it sorted soon - does it bother her at all?

Still no rolling here, sitting up now for a couple of minutes or so, but no teeth yet! Agree about loving the gummy look. I also had to wash dd's 6-9 months clothes today for him and have put away all the tiny clothes - can't believe how quickly time is going.

Zebra - never had a clue about any of your little 'deceptions' - ever thought of being one of those 'secret' shoppers??

Skara · 23/11/2004 13:09

aha MG, we live in one of them...

zephyrcat · 23/11/2004 13:15

I'm with you all on the blanket/teething thing. Finlay's not showing any teeth yet but there is plenty of finger chewing, dribbling and blanket chewing going on!! Amazing what a blanket can do!! dd never had one but Finlay cant do without - and he wont fall asleep unless it is completely over his face and head - bit of a worry!! (we do take it off tho as soon as he's asleep!!)

OP posts:
zebra · 23/11/2004 19:36

Now you've got me intrigued, Skara...
How do you (& Secur) manage on the nights? Last night was esp. awful. Tristan woke me about 5x, DD woke me 2x, DH 2x, DS1 once. I really could throttle the entire crew.

karen01 · 23/11/2004 19:41

Zebra- HOw do you cope with being woke up all the time. Ireally do feel for all of you who are getting woke numerous times during the night. I can honestly say I don't know how I would cope as both of mine have gone through the night from being 9 weeks and 11 weeks.

I really should count myself lucky and stop being selfish I think I am being badly sdone to if DD wakes upat 5am. (this being from 6-7 pm the previous night),
