Morning all and thanks for the warm welcome,
Urban, you're right, I rememeber you too. In my former life I wasn't really a raver but very fond of funky house. Now the only dancing I get to do is with DS when that telly programme with the dancing kiddies is on about 8am.
Birth story in a nutshell: complications last 6 weeks (low amniotic fluid) and breech position meant I had to reluctantly have a C-section. Drs rried to get me to have it early but I went for week 38. DS Gabriel Louis (tho' I call him Louis most of the time) born on 3rd January weighing 7lb 2oz. Suckled more or less straight away. I took a few weeks to get used to breasfeeding (titties in agony at first then toughened up) but enjoyed it after that.
Hospital experience ok but not brilliant. One of the night midwives was a right bossy boots. Demanded to know in cross sounding voice:
"whose baby is that crying?!"
"Mine" I said, feeling like I was in infant school.
"Why is your baby crying? He must be hungry"
Explained I'd just been b'feeding so I didn't think so.
"And you rocking him like that isn't going to do any good I can tell you!"
I dared to say: "well, babies do cry."
She then said: "Don't get me wrong, I like a feisty mother, but..." then proceeded to lecture me about how sometimes if breast milk isn't enough the baby should be given a bottle. I was speechless. So much for encouraging women to breastfeed.
I saw her do worse to other new mums. i think she had been in the job too long and had lost any ability she may have had to empathise. Also suspect she was on a bit of a power trip. Was very glad to leave hospital.
I went back to work mid-Sept and DS is with a childminder. Has telly on all the time which I don't like but she has 20 years experience and he is happy there. Louis just finishing his 2nd course of antibiotics for a nasty chest infection (anyone else had it?) and is teething but is otherwise a cheerful little boy.
Not sure I can cope with another but my feeling is I'd like to. My best friend got preggers again when her ds was 7m!! She'd had trouble TTC the first time and is 41 so...I really admire her and anyone who goes for it. She is now a stay at home mum.
Will pop in later but must stop gassing and do some work . Tat ta for now.
