Thanks again @Nesski... next time I'll try to be in a different room, I think my instinct just currently seems to be "be close to baby"... which is probably generally a good thing Wink

Didn't use acetone, patio doors were open, and the gel polishes don't smell, so I'm coming round to forgiving myself and enjoying my nails again, though he is only 10 days old and I can't help but think about those tiny lungs! I know what you mean r.e. salons - the ventilation isn't always the best and some of the products are definitely harsher!

Mummy2O · 20/07/2021 18:55

@Nesski Thank you for letting me know. I am still all swollen, bit my feet do seem a tiny bit better than there were. I am hoping this is a sign that they will go down soon. I am so fed up with it. All of my shoes feel uncomfortable! Blush

LadySB89 · 24/07/2021 09:25

The last two my body has been feeling light aches also on the joints. I could be low in vitamins. Doc requested I take blood test.
Anyone else experiencing similar?

Also, looks like DD has a lot of trapped wind, majority of time when I put her down when she's awake she's very figity as if she's looking poo something out. Is this normal, she's currently 4 weeks and 1.

notactuallylolling · 24/07/2021 09:26

Please can I join? Baby girl born 21/7 7lb 5oz (still deciding on name!)

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 24/07/2021 22:58

Welcome @notactuallylolling let us know when you choose a name!

Is anyone else just really emotional? I keep crying about the most crazy things - like today I cried because I couldn’t find my phone and my other half had nipped to the shop and I was worried if something happened to the baby I wouldn’t be able to phone anyone for help.
I cried because I was worried what she’ll do when she’s older and I’m not here anymore.

Honestly just random things - anyone else or am I just losing the plot? Xx

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 25/07/2021 04:46

@TiredAlreadyOhDear your baby is about a week old right? Completely normal for hormones to go crazy a few days in! Also tiredness will be catching up with you Flowers

PeanutButterFalcon · 25/07/2021 06:12

@TiredAlreadyOhDear I was crying over everything too. I still get emotional now thinking about her growing up. DH finds it hilarious because i wouldn’t ever cry before and now I can’t stop

TiredAlreadyOhDear · 25/07/2021 07:48

@THATbasicSNOWFLAKE @PeanutButterFalcon
Thanks glad I’m not going crazy! I don’t ever cry over her just things I can’t control that might impact her. Hopefully things will settle soon enough - I’m not usually a crier either haha!

How’s everyone doing a few weeks in? Xx

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 25/07/2021 09:09

We are good! Coming up to four weeks now! Seems like the small one has been with us forever ❤

Nesski · 25/07/2021 16:50

@TiredAlreadyOhDear just hit 5 weeks and at the beginning of his first leap, my god it's like growth spurt on steroids, he literally will not be put down and constantly needs boob for comfort - as a result they are constantly soft and floppy Grin I'm trying to express so that I have a stash available for husband to feed him if I need to be away for more than 2 hours. As an example, I expressed 250ml yesterday and today only 50ml!! In terms of hormones, I honestly had a complete existential breakdown on day 6, it does get so much better though after your first week!

That said, is anyone else also expressing? I honestly feel like a dairy cow Confused

Mummy2O · 25/07/2021 17:53

I got thrown up on epically in the middle of last night. Shock

PurpleCurtain · 25/07/2021 19:22

@Nesski we're only 2 weeks here but I'm expressing twice a day at the moment, to produce two bottles, one so that DH can do one of the night feeds and one so that I can have some kind of breather in the afternoon/ evening/ it's easier if we have visitors. Had ambitions of stocking up but it just hasn't happened as it's already so draining! Do seem to routinely be getting 200ml a day at the moment (2 x 100ml bottles) though it varies as to whether he wants a full bottle at once yet... and still find it stressful trying to work out at what point I need to throw away a bottle that he's only drunk a bit of, vs whether I can just refridgerate it again and try him again with it later!

Nesski · 26/07/2021 13:16

@PurpleCurtain I know, we've only just started bottle feeding expressed milk and it's a bit trial and error at the moment, 50ml to start then top up 20ml. The whole religious timings of milk exposure to temperature and constant need of sterilising things is relentless and I guess all is given as guidance to minimize risk to the baby..

HumunaHey · 28/07/2021 15:40

Just marking my place as baby was born on 23rd July.

Currently experiencing severely engorged breasts and lots of joint pain. Also very emotional as PP have said. I can't wait for a couple of weeks to pass when I feel more normal again 🙃.

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 01/08/2021 08:08

Congratulations @HumunaHey Flowers

pinkgin8 · 01/08/2021 16:54

Baby boy born 6th July 8lb 3oz

Mummy2O · 01/08/2021 19:18

How are you and your little boy doing @Sweetpea12? Any word on the test results as yet? x

Sweetpea12 · 01/08/2021 20:06

@Mummy2O he needs a biopsy on his bowel and was supposed to be taken on Friday and now it’s tomorrow he should (fingers crossed) have it. But today great progress he had 15mls of milk which sounds ridiculous but it’s the most he’s been able to have in the last 4 days. Other than this stomach issue he’s in great health and such a content little boy for everything he has going on around him

Mummy2O · 02/08/2021 01:25

@Sweetpea12 Glad yo hear he is making good progress. I hope all goes well with the biopsy. I am thinking of you all.

Mummy2O · 04/08/2021 17:54

How is everyone getting on? Getting used to the lack of sleep and newly renewed coffee addictions?

My DS2 is rather refluxy. He is content, but sick after most feeds. Still having lots of wet and dirty nappies though so we aren't too worried as yet. My washing machine doesn't know what has hit it! We are seeing the health visitor again tomorrow for a weigh in. I am hoping he is still growing nicely.

HumunaHey · 04/08/2021 19:18

@Mummy2O DS2 is a better newborn sleeper than DS1 was but I'm still counting the days until we get a routine going and I can actually look forward to getting a full night's sleep again, at least sometimes!

DS2 is getting a little refluxy too but that's due to me having an overactive let down (breastfeeding). Milk is sometimes literally squirting out of my breasts without me doing anything. It's gotten DS in the eyes a good few timesBlush.

Has your DS' cord clamp fell off yet? My DS' has and it's actually nice to see a normal belly button form as DS1 had an umbilical hernia which he will need surgery to correct.

How are you feeling in yourself? I had quite a few aches and pains in the first week and I felt so down. Thankfully they've subsided. I do seem to have a bad case of diastasis recti though, but I'm no expert. Will wait until my 6 week check up and raise it then. I've made a half arsed attempt at going for walks to get some excercise and get out the house but most days I just can't be bothered!
