Meant to ask, is anyone elses baby really noisy? F is so loud, screaching and yelling all the time. Not crying, just found her voice and making use of it I think! By the end of a day I need flaming earplugs

Sexonlegs · 19/11/2007 11:05

UW, K is exactly the same. It drives me mad, but am grateful it isn't crying! It is a nightmare at breakfast! Worst of all is that B thinks it funny to join in which just encourages K even more!!

CaptainDippy · 19/11/2007 11:12

Yep - P talks and talks and talks and talks .........

CaptainDippy · 19/11/2007 11:20

....and talks and talks and talks and talks ............

underwire · 19/11/2007 11:25

Glad its not just in my house then!

underwire · 19/11/2007 11:29

Why is it when you try do one thing you make more work for yourself? Have already hoovered this morning. Went into kitchen cupboard to find something I needed for dinner, knocked the coffee jar and hey presto, its smashed all over the kitchen floor. Cue cleaning up of tiny shards of glass, much coffee and re hoovering for a second time Having said that, I can tell I feel better today as I just huffed about it and cleared it up. Yesterday it would have made me cry!

CaptainDippy · 19/11/2007 11:30

It's even worse when we are all trapped in the car together because my 3 all sit strapped in the back - DD1 whinges and whinges and whinges and whinges ....... DD2 sings and sings and sings and sgins ........ DD3 talks and talks and talks and talks .........

I crank up the volume on my CD changer and try to ignore them!

underwire · 19/11/2007 11:30

Why do four year olds feel the need to encourage said baby noise? One of lifes great mysteries

underwire · 19/11/2007 11:31

It can be a nightmare trying to drive and concentrate with all the background noise cant it!!

CaptainDippy · 19/11/2007 11:42

Very difficult - I woud ideally like to get one those special sound proof screens that you put up - like you get on expensive taxis and chauffer-driven vehicles ......

NorthernLurker · 19/11/2007 11:52

Oh yes dd2 - says 'oh what are you saying you funny little person' then B starts laughing at her so dd2 goes completely overboard, starts singing then B is laughing and screaching with pleaseure.......it's lovely - but SO noisy.

underwire · 19/11/2007 11:54

Ooh, thats a good idea, with an intercom thing so you can listen to the noise only when you choose to

CaptainDippy · 19/11/2007 11:58

Absolutely UW - Yes my older 2 wind P up a treat, then they are all shrieking and screaming and laughing ....... Then my windows smash.......

Right, P wimpering, need to feeeeed the beast .....

Laters. xx

oooggs · 19/11/2007 11:58

still surviving

wow crusing I am so NOT ready for that yet thank you

underwire · 19/11/2007 12:01

NL, that is so cute!

NorthernLurker · 19/11/2007 12:18

it is cute - that's the saving grace

well b was whimpering too - but i was trying to feed her! not sure what was going on but she got very upset - i hope she doesn't want a spoon of her own - i need to move somewhere with no carpet first! Actually seemed pained - wind, needs a poo, teeth, sickening for chicken pox - could be any of the above or none.....gave calpol and changed her and she is very happy again - was she just too tired for lunch - it is nap time.

Basically i haven't a clue

underwire · 19/11/2007 12:38

Hi oooggs Glad you are still with us! I saw a mum in town on the weekend with a double pram and twins, a boy and a girl who looked maybe a month old. So very cute all wrapped up in their hats and coats. I thought of your night reports and just felt quite in awe of her. Unless of course she was a friend taking them out to give the mum a break!

underwire · 19/11/2007 12:39

NL, its like that sometimes isnt it. You do everything you can think of and they are still not happy

NorthernLurker · 19/11/2007 12:43

b crashed out now - think tired most likely culprit - do i need to do lunch at 11.30 now.....

Eddas · 19/11/2007 12:58

Right, well dd has chicken pox, thrush and eczema, poor little thing. she when the doctor told her she'd give her some cream, bless her, loves a bit of cream

Apparently ds is likely to get it, which makes sense, but she said it'll probably be worse than dd as he'll be around the virus more than she probably was at least at his age it should be ok

Thing is this is my last week off and now we're all confined to the house and I will have dd all day which she will hate Probably have to take time off work too when/if ds gets it. Depends how he is and whether sil will have them with it. It's never simple.

Sexonlegs · 19/11/2007 13:03

Oh Eddas! Poor dd. Hope she doesn't suffer too badly.

B had chicken pox when she was 8 months, and I have to say I would rather K get it earlier rather than later as B was totally unaware of it. I think once they are aware of the spots it is much worse.

NL, I give K lunch at about 11.30/45 as otherwise she is just knackered.

elkiedee · 19/11/2007 13:09

Eddas, that sounds awful

NL, I've started to just begin getting food together when D wakes up from naps. Am going to take banana and cheese out as well as milk now.

I feel better today than yesterday, and the courier turned up at 10. Haven't gone yet because D fell asleep briefly as I was about to get ready, but he's awake again now and chewing his changing mat!

NorthernLurker · 19/11/2007 13:12

ok early lunch from now on.

eddas - poor dd, poor you

elkis - hurray for couriers - just today

Maveta · 19/11/2007 13:12

Eddas for your poor dd, well that's her 3 bad things in a row so she shouldn't have to expect anymore for a while

Thanks for all your replies, mammyjo particularly you hit the nail on the head re. dh never having N all day alone and I've done it for so long, quite apart from feeling worn out from them both I think it will do him good to have a whole uninterrupted day with him. And it's not even that, because he still dropped N off at my mum's for 2 hours this morning so he could do some errands. I'm just so tired.

Sorry I've not got more to contribute right now but it's nice knowing you're all here xx

PeshaCake · 19/11/2007 13:13

Eddas dd had chicken pox when ds1 was about 8 months and he never caught it, didnt catch it until ds2 was born and then decided mummy needed the extras stress so got it then! My gp told me that if the mother has had chicken pox then babies are unlikely to get it within first year (regardless of bfing) and if they do it will likely be much milder as they still have immunity from the mother.
