I'm here!

OP posts:

Oh and Els, sorry about your 'friend' - remember that people often criticise in others their own shortcomings...

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 20/11/2007 20:10

Daisy, glad that your meet up went well.

Norty, you've reminded me of a story I heard years ago about a woman who went away for a few days and came home expecting to find chaos in the kitchen, but everything was clean and tidy and there were no plates piled up in the sink. When she commented on this her husband and son admitted that they had lined their plates with cling film before each meal to help keep them clean!

Hey there

What a mad day today...tried to post a message earlier, but my laptop ate it (naughty laptop). Ellsbells - I didn't quite get pre-school sorted yet. She has a part-time place at a primary, but it's super inconvenient, and they have no fallback if for any reason I couldn't pick DD1 up. There's a much nicer children's centre / pre-school up the road - but I won't find out till next week whether she's got a place there. The primary's a good one, but pre-school is no guarantee that she'll get a primary school place there (no connection at all apparently), so if she gets into the other one I think I'd prefer that.

Should I be worried about green poo? Have given DD2 a bit of broccoli and mashed potato, carrot, apple, banana and pear (not all at the same time - over the last couple of weeks) and now all her poos look like spinach, and she's been doing loads of them. Not sure if it's the broccoli or the banana that's causing it. Now wondering if I should stop all of it till her poo goes back to 'normal' or if it's just a natural transition as she takes more solids. She LOVES solid food and would eat EVERYTHING we do if I let her: she gets really stroppy at dinner time if I don't give her something to chew on.

Sorry for length of post - haven't had time to get on here for a while. Sounds like everyone is well though...Daisy - sounds like the visit is going well? You definitely did the best thing going IMHO.

Annobal, the kellymom website has BF growth charts on it?

BadZelda · 20/11/2007 20:20

Oh and Els - r.e. tantrums / lively children - I ALWAYS get this from one group of mums I hang out with. They ask me if I do naughty steps / charts / etc etc even though DD1 isn't 3 yet, and I don't think they work before then. Of course whilst DD1 is climbing the walls / running for the hills / decorating the furniture etc etc their children are respectively hiding in mummy's skirts and gazing blankly into the distance. DD1 might be a prize pain in the arse but she told me 3 jokes this week and I wouldn't swap her for anything!

foxythesnowman · 20/11/2007 20:23

Banana leaves black, stringy bits. Sounds perfectly normal BZ!

Annobal, did a search on here, but couldnt find them. I've been blown out for tomorrow, but have 11am Dr appointment so putney won't work for me tomorrow. Still can do next week though!

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 20/11/2007 20:47

Evening all

BZ - Banana makes my DD poo like mad. Colour is like you describe but consistency much thicker now than when on milk only but when given banana, we get lots of dirty nappies

I am SO fed up with kitchen its untrue...I know it will be worth it but blardy hell - I can't cope with the mess!!! Just eaten dinner and then threw everything in the bin ...put a couple of pics on FB.....AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH

Off to see if Gordon Ramsey can cheer me up....nite all x

BadZelda · 20/11/2007 20:49

Hmm I think you're right and it is the banana - think I will start building them up one at a time again and try to isolate it. Banana never had any adverse effects on DD1, but they are all different...

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 20/11/2007 21:00

DD's poos are now the texture of soft playdough, and a sort of mottled orangey-yellow colour, but that's probably because she's mostly eating swede, carrot and butternut squash. Banana made her rather constipated, harder and much darker.

annobalthebignosereindeer · 20/11/2007 21:15

Ahh the joys of weaning - I have all that to look forward to. And it doesn't end there - DS2 got caught short in the bath tonight. Luckily dh was bathing them... .

Thanks for the reminder re Kellymom. I did a search on there and DS is on the 25th centile, not the 9th - his height is on the 50th so seems to be the same ratio it was at last weigh in. Makes me feel a bit better.

Fairy, Andie, Foxy, am fine for next wed.

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 20/11/2007 21:18

Annobal/foxy/Andie - I could do either of the next 2 wednesdays for our meet-up

justbeme · 20/11/2007 21:21

Evening all!

Glad everythings "ok" Daisy - I bet you're so glad you went in the end and you got to meet the lovely Derlor too!

Norty - I feel for you - I hate being in a mess like that

Foxy did you ever hear from those sling people? I requested a brochure but it never came.

Oh and I had a FB message from TA - she said that she wont be coming back to MN ! I suppose one by one we will all fall by the wayside, its just a shame when it does happen.

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 20/11/2007 21:25

I had a similar facebook chat with TA. It sounds as if she's been having a pretty hard time lately.

annobalthebignosereindeer · 20/11/2007 21:26

Hi JBM. How are you?

Did TA give any reason?

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 20/11/2007 21:34

Norty - just looked at your pics, and left you a comment

annobalthebignosereindeer · 20/11/2007 21:39

Norty, are we facebook friends? My initials are PS.

justbeme · 20/11/2007 21:39

Im ok Annobal - started to get a bit bored by the mundaneness of being at home and not being able to get much done whilst looking after L . The last 4mths have been totally focused on L and Ive had no ME time, so I suppose I need to step out of my comfort zone and do something (scary)

TA said that she'd rather not say too much, but I think someones been reading all her postings on the web and she's gotten into trouble, plus she doesnt have much time nowadays.

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 20/11/2007 21:41

TA said similar thing to me, about getting in trouble for some postings, not sure whether they were on here or elsewhere. Good news is though that she has got another job. I'll miss her being around.

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 20/11/2007 21:42

JBM, what are you going to do? I think I need to do something too, but no idea what that something is....

justbeme · 20/11/2007 21:43

Oh thts good - I didnt know she'd got another job - is it nearer home?/ whats it doing?

justbeme · 20/11/2007 21:46

what am I going to do?? mmmmmm.....

Well, I could organise a meal out with some girl friends that I havent seen in a while - L goes to bed at 7pm now, so theres no excuse really - but then, oh god what would I wear!!!

DP and I havent been out either since she was born - so maybe we could get a neighbour to babysit one evening?

and I suppose I could see when Creches would take L and join a gym or something (I havent been to one in 3 yrs - yikes!)

But dont watch this space or hold your breath or anything!!

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 20/11/2007 21:49

I'm not sure where the job is but it's for a media company (don't want to be specific as this is a public forum and she might not want everyone to know iyswim)

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 20/11/2007 21:50

I have organised a girls night for some other Mums, for tomorrow night. Nothing posh just a few drinks in a pub, from 8 o'clock when DPs are home.

I feel like I want to do something more though.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 20/11/2007 21:54

Excitement in the Jammy house tonight. DH got a nice bonus for 5 years' long service - £200 to spend here

Not paying £18 for organic pureed veg for DD though If they won't heat up food for her, she can wait until we get home!

annobalthebignosereindeer · 20/11/2007 21:55

Good news that TA has another job. I miss her not being around.

I know what you mean about me time JBM. I am finally starting to make some plans after being a devoted () mother for the past 4 years. Scary but exciting...

First one is getting back to the gym (that is actually using the gym when I go there ).

annobalthebignosereindeer · 20/11/2007 21:57

That's great news Jammy.
