LOL Foxy, I too bolt my food even if no DCs around.

Hello catkin - just think, you'll be able to go to the loo in peace, whenever suits you!

catkinisamummynow · 30/11/2007 21:44

Very true Foxy! I've actually got a brand new job and Monday is my 1st day so i'm actually feeling quite excited about it! And i'm only going back 3 days a week which is fab.

JBM - I had a boy on the 10th June. He's such a sweetie!

justbeme · 30/11/2007 21:45

Well I would just to be safe - imagine if your electrics go as well!

So you going to call the gas people back out? they might be able to temp fix it? -

Sputnik · 30/11/2007 21:46

for you going back to work Catkin. It seems like only yesterday we were all giving birth. Foxy I'm with you on wanting him to stay a baby as long as possible, which would've shocked me 6 months ago

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 30/11/2007 21:47

Ooh Catkin, snap, I had a boy on 10th June as well

justbeme · 30/11/2007 21:48

Can you tell us what type of job it is Catkin?

catkinisamummynow · 30/11/2007 21:49

Ooooh! Bless - Birthday Buddies!

catkinisamummynow · 30/11/2007 21:51

I'm a teacher. Going to work at the best school ever - Think the excitement of the new job is helping me cope with thought of having to leave DS!

foxythesnowman · 30/11/2007 21:53

I know Sputnik. I'm clinging onto her as a baby. Even the GP gave her a good old snuggle today.

DP wants another and so do I!

But I also want them to grow up. DS1 came home and was chatting about his day. Sometimes you just look at them and they seem a bit different, as they become individuals and their own people. The parts of their days which have very little to do with me, but which they are confident in and are familiar with.

I think I'm tired. Getting soppy!

DaisyNightingale · 30/11/2007 21:57

hi catkin. you sound really well and enjoying being a mum. This is such a fab age. Ouch that you have to go back to work. I'm in the mood to stay off forever (even though we can't afford to pay the blardy mortgage in January if we don't get DHs old house sold)

I'm hoping to draw it out till September at least, before I'm forced into prostitution as a career alternative.......it has all the perks; I can chose my own hours, take extended holidays, the tax breaks are fab, and I can work weekends when DH is home to look after the kids

catkinisamummynow · 30/11/2007 21:59

LOL Daisy!

DaisyNightingale · 30/11/2007 21:59

oooh catkin, I'm thinking of retraining as a teacher . The govt is offering £9K bursary for maths and science teachers as there is a real shortage at the moment.

Not sure I have the right temperament for it though

catkinisamummynow · 30/11/2007 22:15

OOOh Daisy, How exciting! I absolutely love my job. I trained as a french teacher but have always taught students with special needs. I think all sorts of temperaments work well in teaching - It takes all sorts!

lilQuidditchKel · 30/11/2007 22:15

hello ladies - from the mumsnet graveyard!! Just had to say hi after Holly so kindly poked me - thanks for making me feel loved

my little one (DD Sienna) is just the sweetest thing and I love her to bits. This age is just wonderful IMHO - all smiles and love and no tantrums or running around (ie getting into lifethreatening/stupid/naughty situations every 20 seconds!)

Main issue Chez lilKel is my 20 mo old. He is just a roaring nightmare. So, so curious and always into things...and if I get cross he laughs. I lost patience with calm "no" and "redirection" today and locked him in his room but only for 2 minutes. I'm fresh out of ideas with him!! Grrrrr.

Love to you all - off to buy pressies for the cheeky monkey now - not that he DESERVES them - grrrrr...........!!!

justbeme · 30/11/2007 22:20

Hi Likel and Bye!!

Im off now - catch up over the weekend x Night

Sputnik · 30/11/2007 22:22

Hiya Lilkel, funny, I was thinking about you only today and that Sienna must be 6 months by now as you were 1 of the 1st to pop (so happy 1/2 year)

lilQuidditchKel · 30/11/2007 22:24

Ok on topic now: jobs.

I used to love being SAHM but that was before the terrible two's (aka terrible 12 months plus) hit!! I'm finally realising I may really need a break from the kids on a regular basis. Two ways to do that - work or just get a nanny in - but the latter is just stupidly expensive when not working - and former is not an option as I hated my old job in the City.

We have to move somewhere cheaper so I can stay at home but it doesn't solve the problem of getting a break from being 24/7 mum to two toddlers!!

Only hope is, once my 2 are in school (cue angels singing) I can try something different. Ever since owning doll houses I've had an addiction to arranging furniture - Anyone know how to become an interior decorator?

lilQuidditchKel · 30/11/2007 22:28

...and please no comments about my obsession some months ago with purchasing the Baby Bjorn Sitter in a colour which would coordinate with my lounge area rug... that was a pregnancy thing. really.

DaisyNightingale · 30/11/2007 22:35

hey lilkel

It's like a reunion in here tonight isn't it?

have you got any updated pics on facebook?

This age is fab, but DD is already showing signs of a rather feisty temperament. She spent half an hour banging me on the arm and chest tonight, and if I said No she just laughed. when I held her hand she headbutted me instead! It was a great game, obviously !

Sputnik · 30/11/2007 22:37

And the Cath Kidston too presumably (runs for cover)

Interior design should be really intresting, could you find an introductory course somewhere maybe?

DaisyNightingale · 30/11/2007 22:40

lilkel, try your local colleges. They often do interior desing as a part time course....and NVQ or NQ or whatever the modern equivalent of City&Guilds is.

I remember the baby bjorn sitter debate....I thought you went for the mushroom in the end as it was a good colour for camoflaguing (sp???) babysick!

IsawBUMPERkissingsantaclaus · 30/11/2007 22:42

Oooh hello likel I was thinking about you the other day. Hellooo catkin - good to have the old crowd back

I've been thinking - who do you think will be the next to get back up the duff?

My vote: Foxy

catkinisamummynow · 30/11/2007 22:49

Hello Lilkel! Was also thinking about you yesterday cos heard name Sienna and was telling Callan about you and mumsnet. (it's bizarre what you can end up talikng to a 6 month old when you've not had any adult company for a while!)

Sputnik · 30/11/2007 22:50

Hey Bumper congrats on the jeans

catkinisamummynow · 30/11/2007 22:50

ooops, meant to say 'talking about' !!

Bumper: Foxy gets my vote too!
Would love it to be me but that's never going to happen!
