JBM, that's awful. I can't really say anything more than Foxy has already put so well.

Fury, they can't do that surely???

DaisyNightingale · 29/11/2007 16:04

I've got the D&V bug as well now

I was coming home from school with DS and had a sudded griping pain.....and (sorry if TMI) didn't make it to the toilet on time . I've been sick twice since I came in as well.

And DH not home until late tomorrow night.

arse bugger wank fuck. I hope it's just me and not the DCs too.

I really feel for you jbm...my brother is step dad to two teenage boys and they do seem to think that money grows on trees and they can just get everything. Can you sit her down quietly and explain where you are financially and that it is temporary until you get back to work and she can have a computer then? And does she really need her own computer right now anyway (she's 12/13 iirc)? Surely there is a family one she can use? Or if it's a must, a 2nd hand laptop maybe?

Like make-up and heels and boyfriends, DD will get one when she's 38

bugger for you fury....but at least you get some momre time with yoour lovely boy!

Norty....I hope you feel better soon!

Sputnik · 29/11/2007 16:05

JBM your ex should have consulted you first, as with the holiday. Stick to your guns and call his bluff like foxy says. 150 is only a bit less than half anyway, see if you can get the price down too

DaisyNightingale · 29/11/2007 16:06

fury, I hope that as this is their mistake, they will be paying you until the time they told you was your contract end date. If not, sue the feckers lovely people for loss of earnings!

trace2 · 29/11/2007 16:10

justbeme · 29/11/2007 16:13

Im back - Thanks Ladies for all your words (couldnt bear to do a AIBU thread - it might have got nasty!).
I have discussed with DD1 about my finances, but 'cos my DP is quite well off DD1 and my Ex think that I am too - (but DD1 isnt my new DPs responsibility is she?)

I'll have a look at those links MHC - thanks - DD1 is 12 and she has a second hand laptop already, but my Ex says she needs a new one as she's had it 5 years!

ARSE! - now I hate Xmas even more!!! BAH

Daisy and Norty - hope you feel better soon - ohhh I hate D & V - awful.

Oh and the HV says I havent got PND - I scored 8 - so Im ok!! (She's just left)

justbeme · 29/11/2007 16:23

The HV weighed L as well - and she's only put on 3oz in 27 days - She's now on the 9th Centile (started off on 75th) - but she said not to worry, L looks well and has chubby legs and wrists - and to weigh her again in another month.
Abit different to your HV Foxy isnt it??

annobalthebignosereindeer · 29/11/2007 16:23

Daisy and Norty, I hope you feel better soon

We've had a lovely afternoon - DS1 has just made an apple crumble for dinner and DS2 did the washing up. LOL - you should see the kitchen!

annobalthebignosereindeer · 29/11/2007 16:42

Oh JBM - same has happened with DS. I have resolved to not have him weighed for a while.

foxythesnowman · 29/11/2007 16:58

well JBM, its a trade off isn't it? sure your new DP could contribute more if xp wants to give him a bigger role in DD's life?

justbeme · 29/11/2007 17:13

lo Foxy! unfortunately my DD1 did say at the weekend that DP is now the reason why she'd never live with me - previously she told me that if i had broadband and a baby she'd come... yeah right - its always something.

foxythesnowman · 29/11/2007 17:20

I really feel for you JBM. You can't win.

Wise words MHC.

I've a feeling though no matter how sensible the solution, it won't cut the mustard. The laptop has been promised.

How about the 'teenage girl, vulnerable on the internet' arguement. I don't think children should have computers where their parents aren't. (So says the mother of no teenagers whatsoever!)

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 29/11/2007 19:10

JBM, i feel for you too - it's a rock and a hard place problem. If you refuse the laptop then it'll be "your Mum wouldn't pay for the holiday, or the laptop, or...." but if you say yes then in a couple of weeks/months you'll be expected to stump up for something else and maligned when you don't.

If your ex promised her a laptop then he'll have to buy it for her. If he can't/doesn't want to then he should never have mentioned it (and I agree with what's wrong with a 2nd hand/old one - she's only 12 FFS). People can't make promises and then expect others to keep them.

I agree that just because DP is well off it doesn't mean that your ex can assume that you are rolling in cash and will pay for whatever he promises your DD
